Hey guys, I have the CDMA Hero, I was wondering if there was any good im apps that can even do facebook chat? I was using meebo, which is a very good im client, but it keeps the phone awake. Is there one that is just as good that wont keep the phone awake?
Thanks in advanced.
you might wanna try nimbuzz. not using it myself. it keeps disconnecting me.

I think all of them keep your phone some how awake. Specially when you connect to many networks at the same time.
I use IM,MSN,GT, and FB.
I found eBuddy to be pretty good. Just a note of caution though particularly in the UK, if you use AIM over your mobile network, you'll probably be in breach of contract. You need to check the small print even on unlimited tariffs.
M
Hello IM. Never fails me, runs great
I installed eBuddy last night, and put my phone on to charge until about 9am. I had eBuddy connected to MSN, GT and FB chats but didn't interact with it all day and by 6pm my battery light was flashing red.....
hmm, so each aim app stays on all the time, not allowing the phone to sleep.. I wish that wasn't so

6. gives me a back rub in the evenings...
ROM developers do a lot of awesome work for pretty much free, I find it kinda rude to "want" something like this
What you should really want is Motorola to release an official 2.2 kernel so that the devs have somthing good to work with. For a locked system we have come a long way imo.

But not so smoothly and quickly compared to others roms!
Sense is very beeatiful and "worked", but is much for milestone processor and memory (your words dexter), right?
maybe Sense 2.1 is more recomended??
i tested all, in the moment MIUI is the best!

Telus Lite V5... No offense to the other devs, but this mod is rock solid. Loses no features, and gains both speed and battery life.
On typical usage, I get about 50-60 hours without having to plug in. I text a lot, usually have about 30-40min worth of phone calls, check email, have wi-fi and auto sync enabled about 1/4 of the time, and play some games (maybe 1 hour per day)
Never have any random reboots.
Although, I did go in with root explorer and decreases the voltages.. but it was clearly set up with a less forgiving CPU in mind.
seems not much developer want to add crystal talk to their rom, i think u better use official rom if u want that

Alright, I'm rooted. Now, I want to have the WiFi tethering and I'd like to overclock. Can I do both? Is there a kernel that does both, or do I run em one at a time? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends, setiroN puts out a very nice kernel. I use his in my ROMs. On a side note, I would move this to the Q&A before the army shows up!
Edit: you need a custom ROM to gain access to the tethering function.

If you haven't done it yet, flash Perception or Cognition, they both have wifi and usb tethering on. I haven't played with the others, but if you do some reading you find out about the others.

Yeah, I saw more technical stuff over here so I posted. My bad. I think I want to stay away from ROMs. Idk though. I've heard they're cool, but always break something. I just came from iPhone and I was up to speed. Now I'm such a lost n00b! My goal WAS to overclock and enable tethering and stay with the stock ROM. Are there any ROMs that don't break ANYTHING? Thanks dude.

You can always go back to stock, but you never will once you play with some lagfixed kernels and custom roms. I thought this thing blew the iCrap out of the water stock, and its amazing now. Overclocking sounds cool, but unless you are a gamer and actually need the extra clock speed, i'm not sure its worth the effort. I have had ridiculous battery life just using 1GHz and Voodoo lagfix. I would def recommend you try P9.5 (perception) as I have no problems with anything and the best GPS ever.

No disrespect meant to the other ROM devs. I am a DG fanboy and found what I was comfortable with and haven't looked around at all, but I know there are a lot of people out there that like roms made by other devs, and I'm sure they are just as good.
the Perception 9.5 in my signature is the link to the perception thread. The sticky at the top of the thread has all of the guides for beginning to flash roms.
check this out as well, haven't watched it but it should give you an idea of whats going on:

Alright. Finally got back home and got it flashed. Seems fine. Battery life seems a little shorter. I only have about an hour with it. A few questions, what is Blinky? And what is BLN?
bln is back light notification. it can sometimes be turned off in recovery if the kernel has a modded recovery. basically if you get a text email or other alert the phone will put on the soft key back lights. i dont care for it because im never looking at my phone at it is never in a visable location for the lights to catch my attention. basically if i can see the lights im probably about to unlock my phone anyway in which case i can see the notification in the status bar.
blinky is an app that has something to do with bln but it didnt work when i tried to use it.
give the battery a couple days to calibrate. the batstats file can get all screwy making you think you have battery drain. if you charge the phone while it is off and then start the phone the two battery meters should be close to each other. if they are not then the batstats are likely off. you can clear them in clockworkmod recovery. over the coarse of a few days you may see the battery life appear to get longer.
i believe the accepted procedure for calibrating is charge to full. clear batstats. charge to full +1-2hrs. turn off phone and charge to full again +1hr, turn on phone and charge to full.
but i tend to just clear bat stats once and use the phone. im not gonna dis anyones method but i see no point in the calibration thing.
ive been running illusions rom for about 2 weeks now and i woke up today with my phone losing about 1-2 percent a min even with sync, gps, lte, and data off ??? wth? i reset it flashed a older back up of viper rom and it still was doing the same thing =[ can anyone help? of cours this would happen the exact day i leave for vacation to la jolla
Battery stats please?
Also, your symptoms look a LOT like those plagued by hard bricks. Check your min/max frequencies, quick!

I don't think you quite understand this app.
That time up top that I'm pretty sure you're reading isn't your wakelock time (in fact, your wakelock time seems to be pretty low as far as power consumption goes). It's the amount of time that the app has detected you've been off the wall (since it doesn't record statistics until you go off the wall).
Your battery life is basically at the upper ceiling of someone using a smartphone as a smartphone. I don't quite see why you're still complaining about battery life, especially after people pointed out you were fine in your last thread on this.

Are you fing kidding me?
30% drain over 11 hours? With 1 hour screen time? Your awake time is literally like 2 mins more than your screen time. There us NOTHING wrong with your battery stats or your battery life.
Unless you're using your phone in Airplane mode and disabling Google Now.

Yeah, tell them it's their policy to work on rooted phones or just flash a rom.zip if you're s-off.
I used to get that error with certain charging cables. Bought a good cable. Made sure I plug into a real outlet rather than a usb port on pc. All is well. That error is totally common with sub par charging cables.

Yup... never use the USB port on your computer (500 mAmps) and never use a sub-standard and LONG usb cable (always keep the usb cable length to the minimum you need)...

It wasn't from the cable 100% I'm not an idiot lol it happened just a few days after installing the illusion rom... It was never fixed even when I unrooted the thing it would still do it although it worked fine for one day and went right back to draining a percent a min so anyway sprint gave me a new one

How to display images properly....all i can see is a small box
so you just put your screen on low brightness and just kept it on the whole time.. whats the point? interesting screen on times when there is also use, this is a "faked" screen on time. at least post your use, if there was any.
