How long does it take to flash radio? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
It's been sending for about 10 minutes so far :O
I'm a little worried. Thanks,
It could take awhile.... Which radio did you flash? are you still in the screen where the android is out of the box? Be patient bro, no matter what dont take out the battery, or you will brick your device.

Hey rjhay22, thanks for the fast reply.
I flashed back to 4.04 from 4.06 as I was having some serious signal problems and random reboots ever since I updated to Froyo.
It just started writing to radio then the following error
writing 'radio' ... FAILED (remote: image update error) finished.

Ugh can't be too good...
I can still get into recovery, and I just flashed back to the stock ROM without any problems so I don't think I bricked it. Any idea as to why the radio won't flash? Checked the md5 and it was alright. Possibly a prob with the USB cable/laptops end?
Yah, must be a bad download, I suggest downloading the file again and try. which ROM are you on and which radio are you trying to flash? is it the IMG file? or the update.zip file?
If youre trying to flash 4.0.2 (stock) / 4.0.3 / 4.0.4 versions heres a link for an update.zip version.

these radios are Eclair ROM radios, if you're using FroYo then you should use, 4.0.6. otherwise it'll give you camera FC.

Currently just reverted back to Cyanogen 5.0.6 and trying to get back to 4.0.4. Would the best route be to go into recovery and just flash the zip to do this? I was a little scared of doing it before considering my phone was crashing but I'm pretty sure it's stable in recovery.
(I was trying to flash via cmd with the img file in my tools folder before).
Yes, I find it to be easier and less scary to go through the update.zip file... And the link I gave you, I've been using those files to go back and forth on radio. Good luck brother.

so do you guy sreally think that the froyo radio is faulty somehow, particularly for the ATT version of the N1? i'm thinking of going to froyo, but not sure about the new radio (i'm happy with current radio). but then i hear about video problems without new radio.
is it that easy to bounce back and forth?
Hello again lol. Froyo radio works a lot better than the previous ones for me at least. There isn't anything wrong with it, now this might not be true on yours since you are from another carrier . But you can always switch back to the old one, whatever works best for you.

Ok cool, I just gotta figure how how to tell what radio I'm currently using. I'm sure its the previous one that we've been using.
which will be the exact steps to revert my att band N1 to eclair again?
Should i first flash 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 radio and then cyanogen's mod? or firts cyanogen's mod and then the 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 radio?
im willing to to this, because my gps is not accurate with froyos radio...
Works either way

rjhay22, do you think that the oficial release of froyo will have a better radio for all att band N1's? couse mine is kinda sucky right now... the gps is slow and inaccurate...
What yave you heard, will froyo have 850 and 900 separeted radios?
As of now, google has been quiet about what's going to be in the official release. We can only hope that if they include a different radio in that release, that it would work perfectly on both ATT and T-Mobile devices.

You can tell which radio you are using by going into the bootloader; a few lines from the top I believe.
Also in the main settings menu it shows baseband version and it looks like 4. 00. 04 or something like that. Isn't that the radio info?
How long should it take to flash Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF over stock 26.03.02.26_M??? It's been going a good while now and I'm getting freaked out!!
Judging by the radio model, you posted in the wrong forum.

Radio update help..
...It's pretty much been over half a year since I needed to root my phone again, but I just received a brand new one from tmob. SO. I did the root deal, that went super smooth, I have JF1.51 CRB43 ADP to start with. NOW, I am trying to update the radio, and it does not seem to be working. From what I remember and what I've read, all you do is flash it like you would any rom, rename to update.zip and recov alt+s, right? Well, when I check the radio version it still says the original, not what I flashed. So I re-downloaded and tried again, no luck. ....feel like a real idiot here haha, never had it not work before. Tried searching but I had no luck finding the solution. By all means if you have a link and this was a pointless post just tell me, else I just need some help!
which recovery image do you have installed

Sorry I left out the recov info, I know my signature is misleading...didn't change it yet..! I'm using JF 1.43 recov, I remember that (not sure if it was ever fixed, all I know is that flashing the SPL with CM recov caused 'error at line ___' when flashing new roms) that you cannot flash the new SPL with cyanogen recovery, so I'm using JF's until I get the radio and spl flashed correctly. I got the radio from where I usually have in the past, as well as the new SPL http://sapphire-port-dream.googlecode.com/files/ (Of course I will not flash the latest SPL until the newest radio is flashed first!) I just want my happy CM 3.9.7 back..! With the ability to flash the new hero roms when I get curious.. ****I am now attempting to flash the radio with cm recov 1.4, will update on this if it works. ****no luck with cm either, didn't think it would make a difference but thought I would give it a shot. I still have 1.22.12.29 for my radio :/ agh!
So...Still can't update the radio for whatever reason, just does not take, and I still can't find anything in the forums about this either... :/ Anyone have any ideas at all?
get the radio from the htc website maybe you got a bad download. i have flashed radio and new spl with cyanogens recovery so i know it will do it. after flashing the radio press home and back to reboot. do not reboot from the recovery console because i have noticed that it will not write the image.

I wonder if I should just completely start over (unroot, re-root) hope thats not the case..I just got it all set back up again :/
Nope, no matter where I download from and how many times I flash with different recoveries.. I still have the original radio 1.22.12.29 :/ This has always been so easy! I've never had issues with rooting, then updating the radio, then updating to the new SPL.. :/

gave up for a while, finally re-rooted Re-rooted and still cannot update my radio, I have tried updating it after the very first rooting steps, after updating to JF RC33 as well, I still can't get the latest radio to get onto my phone. I have tried with JF recovery, CM recovery, as well as the original recovery image, and nothing. Notta. Zip. No idea why my phone simply will not take the new radio image.. I have re-downloaded it a million times as well, going in circles..don't get why the phone will let me root, unroot, all that jazz, and simply will not let me update the radio... driving me nuts!! I can use CM roms just fine of course but any other roms I am stuck with not trying cause of this annoyance!! Anything anyone can recommend would be great
o man still can't get it to work? try flashing the official 1.5 OTA update, which contains the updated radio. see if it gives you an error message. if it does, take it to tmobile and tell them to replace your phone. if it flashes...see if it updated your radio. if it did, you can use the one click root to root your phone
Thanks again buddy, I will try it out ^^
So, I unrooted, and applied the OTA updates from 29 to 30, 30 to 33, 33 to cupcake..and I still don't have the latest radio, still at 1.22.12.29. I got the ota cupcake here: https://android.clients.google.com/updates/partner/signed-kila-ota-150275.53dde318.zip i'm going to try flashing the ota radio update without root if it will let me..grr..this is so weird, there is no reason why it shouldn't take a simple radio update..hrm ***attempted the ota radio update, guess you can't without root which is what I figured, but frick, this makes no sense.. >>
so, this is a bit odd, at http://developer.htc.com/adp.html, one of the spots to DL the latest radio, when you hover over the radio link for 1.5 and 1.6, it says "ota-radio-1_22_14_11.zip" rather than "ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip", weird, eh? Wonder if it's simply not the right radio, and labeled wrong, I have no idea, but this is getting super old.
I'm actually having the same problem, can't seem to update the radio with the radio image the htc site provides. It's still stuck at 1.22.12.29
Anyone had this before? Any help would be appreciated
I can't get around it, and it's really frustrating, since the only rom I can use is a CM build..aside from a couple others, but CM is the best as far as universal SPL use goes..
So what I've tried so far: - Updated to HardSPL - Tried multiple Radio updates, new ones, old ones, even some from the forums. - Tried a few complete updates that include the radio image - Tried flashing directly from fastboot, not sure what partition I need to flash though, the radio partition gives me an error that it does not exist. Still no go. The weird thing is that I come from a stock 1.5 installation updated from 1.0 via t-mobile. And I'm still at the original 1.0 radio image.
Downgrade radio from ERE36B to ERE27
http://android.modaco.com/content/g...-online-kitchen-optional-root-insecure-himem/ There are several files in there and I'm not really sure which one is the one I'm looking for. Obviously, I'm not going to take such a risk having a great community of people who know what they're talking about. So, if I have ERE36B and want to downgrade to ERE27, is this the correct file I have to flash? The thing is I'm not sure because I'm reading all this "update version" stuff everywhere and I'm now pretty confused. I'd appreciate someone's 10 seconds to check it out for me. You'll understand I don't want to mess up with radio stuff if it can brick my phone. From Froyo back to a Custom Rom?
I searched around quit a bit and couldn't find this info. If you go to one of the Froyos, with/without radio, is it possible to just flash it back with another custom Rom over that and all is good? Just wondering if there are any gotchas like if you put the radio update on etc... Thanks

Yes you can just flash any ROM like you normally would. I've done it a few times now in the last few days. I did the old radio and all.

Ok, so this is a newb question so bare with me, i just rooted my phone and installed CM 6 only an hour ago (hurray). But I dont know what a radio flash is or how to handle them? Can anyone help me out, please dont yell at me for not searching, imagine how many thread with the word "radio" would pop up. -Cheers and thanks

right i decided to try and go back to 2.2 and couldn't downgrade the radio to a 2.2 one, but really stupidly ran a ruu and lost root access but still had revolutionary. tried to re-run revolutionary without success so was stuck with 2.3 without root so could not install recovery or anything and no permissions. eventually got root access back by running superoneclick 2.2.1 now everything is back to normal.. not going to mess anymore as i have messed it up once, next time it'll probably get bricked. i'll just wait for a fix...
Why don't you just try a different gb radio.
