Ever since I last updated google navigation (when it added the Navigation button) I cannot get nav to work in Landscape.
Anyone else have this issue?
Nexus One on 2.1
Thanks....
as far as i know, it has always had the navigation button. and, i am using the official car dock, and it works groovy.
in fact, because your question made me curious, i just went out and tested it. works like a charm. i only use it in landscape mode, and got it to work from google maps and google navigation.
are you using froyo? i am. but, it always worked before i updated as well.
Not on Froyo. On Android 2.1
There was no Navigation button until the last Google Maps update...and I have not had Landscape Navigation since then...
No idea why but it is frustrating when driving.

Hi!
I've been searching all over for this and couldn't find anything... I have a Samsung GT-PT1010 (forgotten device) which can't be upgraded to ICS and I'm not inclined to upgrade it to Gingerbread. However using imitation ICS settings app and the Go HD Launcher makes it pretty usable.
Only thing missing is the bottom-left corner Back, Home, Apps Running buttons! Does anyone know of such an app or maybe some mode of customization to imitate these buttons? The device in built buttons are simply inconvenient.
thanks for any pointers!!!

Hi there,
I have kinda the same problem with my P1010 but for a different reason. My capacitive navigation buttons have started to die, so I decided to use something called Button Saviour. You can customize it to look like the navigational soft keys on many different devices including the stock android and HTC style buttons. Hope this helps!
I will check this out, thank you!
Hey folks, Android 4.2 through 4.4 have had behavior issues with car dock mode and some apps that take over the home button, such as CarHome Ultra (my fave app).
Have any of you checked the behavior in Android 5.X? Has Google changed their policy on the home button in car dock modes? How's it working out now?

I tested carhome ultra and it doesn't seem to take over the home button at all. When I press the home button it just ends it. Does seem to disable the adaptive brightness and I had to re-enable it manually.
I really wish google made a proper car mode like they did ages ago, would be nice to have the big touch targets.

That's too bad. CarHome makes an app that helps it take over the home button. But then you lose the "go to home page" functionality when using the normal launcher. Not a big deal but a little annoying.
Then there is an Xposed module that fixes the home button/car dock issue perfectly, but I don't think Lollipop is getting Xposed framework real soon.

Does anyone know if Google just completely axed the Google now swipe up nav ring thing? I really miss this functionality and seems like now all I can do is old home button down to access now on tap, then hit the Google now button to get into now app.
Swipe up works to get to Google Now. There is no ring now. Just straight to Google now. On Tap hasn't even been implemented yet as far as I know.

Are you on the latest M preview? Swiping up does nothing for me, only holding down works. That simply brings up now on tap screen which isn't implemented yet so it only has a clickable button to take you to Google now lol...
I can't swipe up, just hold the home button to activate Google Now. Still annoying the on tap thing comes up first
I'm coming from an S20 on Android 10 where I was using FNG to hide the navbar and had a 3-button setup with swiping from the bottom. Now on the Pixel default nav gestures it seems I can't do this anymore. I can only swipe to go home. It's disappointing. And I seems that in Android 11 they made it even more difficult (impossible?) for 3rd party apps to hide the nav bar.
Also, Nova Launcher doesn't seem to work well with gesture nav enabled. It's mostly fine, except for when I swipe up to go home there is a significant delay until I can interact with my home screen. When I press home I'm brought to a blank home screen, then my icons/widgets populate, and then I have to wait another moment for it to actually be interactable. If I touch the home screen before this the screen just flashes and does nothing.
What's up with this? I realize these are little things but they totally bring me out of the snappy and fast experience I've otherwise had with this phone. The thing I've always loved most about Android is it's customizability and Google seems to be taking that away more and more with each update. It's very disappointing.
As far as I know, you can't get rid of the navbar without root. FNG works with root though you have to get rid of the navbar yourself.

Not having that slowness issue with gestures on Nova on either my first nor replacement Pixel 5 - swiping up to go home is snappy, definitely not waiting for icons and widgets to populate.
I think you may have a unique issue as I've seen a couple posts talk about using Nova with the Pixel 5 and never any mention of such a terrible issue.
Hello all,
I'm struggling to do something that has never previously been difficult on former Android devices I've owned.
Is there a simple non-root or adb way to switch the back and recents button in the navigation bar? I've tried a few apps and everything just draws over the existing bar, it's not a super helpful solution. I think custom navigation bar did this but it's not currently compatible with pixel 7 in play store.
Also is there a way to remove the accessibility shortcut on the navigation bar (little man) ? I have tried everything on every article I've read, it's still there.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Sanjay
I second this. Really getting old reaching completely across the screen to press the most common button you use.
Doesnt understand why Google not implement this? I only root so i can use @tulsadivers magisk mod to change this. Hopefully it comes to pixel 7. Otherwise im waiting for linage

I gotta say once I tried navigation gestures and got use to using them I would never go back to using 3 button navigation, and the sensitivity level seems to be so much better with pixel 7 that the gesture required to do a task is very smooth . Maybe it's because I keep the screen protector mode on even though I have no protector, anyways just my opinion on the navigation options, I sure people feel just as strongly why they use the 3 button navigation, not trying to start a war, cheers

Unfortunately I had an iPhone for a while and got used to them.
However, we can't we have both at the same time? An actual factual back button is just less frustrating sometimes.
