It just doesnt do that anymore

Hey, before i post this question, i will have you know that i searched first and found one post similar to mines but there was no confirmed solution to it. Anyways, My friend has a rooted g1 and out of no where, his phone started to lag alot and freeze up. Especially when he would open up to use his physical keyboard. He tried 3 different roms, they all have same results. He even tried unrooting using dreamimg.nbh and same problem.. any suggestions would be helpful.. Thanks in advance!

Back up your data and format the card, restore the files and wipe/flash the Rom.
Has fixed some issues I have had
Try another SD Card if the above does not fix it, it might be going bad.
Legend221 just curious but wat issues were you having?
i . ll just start from the beginning. i installed a jesus freke ROM on my G1, i dont remember what version. i think it was 1.41 or something like that. (RC29 or RC33, idr). i downloaded an app or maybe it was an app that came with the ROM that let me know of jesus freke's updates. i hadnt checked it awhile as the G1 is not my primary device. when i checked for it last week, it showed an update and i attempted to install it. i completely forgot the procedure for updating a new image and im prretty i bricked it because it wont go past the android screen, even after waiting about 10-15 minutes, it still wont go past it. so my question is, can somebody please help me unbrick my G1? im in no hurry as im not using it on a daily basis, but id like to get this resolved as soon as possible so i can sell my G1. anyways, id appreciate it if someone could help. if so, can you give some detailed instructions as im not TOO familiar with android. i know a little about it, but too much.
thanks guys,
josh.
if you can access recovery mode, just go and reinstall other rom, i recommend cyanogenmod - user friendly and it got a complete guide on there website to install.
youll have to expand on that a little more, like i said, im not that familiar with android.. i dont have an SD card in there, and i suppose that might pose a problem trying to flash another ROM to it.. can you give me some links and some specific directions when you have a chance..? i'd greatly appreciate it.

This right here is why I say don't root if you don't know wtf you're doing. This always happens to people who should have just stayed away. Look:
Power phone completely off. Hold home key and power on. If you get to the recovery screen (the screen with a bunch of options, probably all written in green for you) then you're not bricked. All you need to do is put latest cyanogenmod on your sdcard, wipe your phone, and install it.
Hi MY G1's keyboard doesn't work no more to late to send it back to get repaired, any way i wanted to root my G1 so i can try out PSFreedom but now iv downgraded the phone i cant use on screen keyboard so im unable to to root it i tryed some keyborad programs i had on my PC but the dotn seem to install, does anyone know anything that could help me ? out is there like a new firmware you can use to root the phone. as RC7 doesnt let me install a keyboard program
thank you
This is a bit of a longshot, but its an idea.
You need to go download ChompSMS. I'm not talking about the newest one, I'm talking about one of the first releases from almost 2 years ago or so. It came with a a built in proprietary on screen keyboard that was made obsolete with Android 1.5, and subsequently removed. If you can find this, what you can do is perhaps type out using the built in keyboard in the application in a new message the necessary commands, then copy and paste the commands into the terminal. I don't know how you would send the command though, perhaps by trackball or long-touching, etc, it depends on the application.
I don't have Android 1.0, and I have long forgotten the details of rooting, so this is all just a rough idea. If you can get far enough to the point where you can flash a ROM, get a 1.5 ROM on it, so you will have the on-screen keyboard.
Good luck.
Ok thx i'll give that a look thx

Hi,
I am new here, although i have been visiting this site often, i never posted and commented anything in this forum.
I have a galaxy s i9000 and last year i put the darkys rom with android version 2.3.3
Yesterday i tried to upgrade it to 2.3.4, because i wanted to change to insanity rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843019)
I donwloaded this kernel to use (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108)
But after i used odin my device would not pass the splash screen.
I then tried to go back to stock, using this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913#), but after odin made his work and the device reseted, it showed a screen asking for to confirm a password.
I have no idea what password is this.
Can anyone help me?
I can get to download mode with no problem, but the recovery mode goes back to the screen asking for the password.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.
My advice would be to flash a fresh rom. Here is a link to Gingerreal rom. It has got all the clear instructions + all stock firmware downloads. Try it. All the best!
Thanks for the reply DonVito.
The password, if anyone in the future needs it, is the last password you used in the screenlock.
I tried that just to make sure i did everything i could, and it worked
And by coincidence i just used that tutorial, for gingerreal before i even saw your reply, and so far so god, congrats for the developer
Just a little question, the rom doesnt have the portuguese language for the swype. Is that a way to install myself this? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
Hello Everybody!
So, the thing is that I bought a brand new DS7 from ebay recently, and it has Honeycomb in it, but about a week ago things went wrong -actually I'm not sure if it was good before. The tablet does not work on the proper way. First of all, I tried to install iGO on it, but it didn't let me to do it. So I can't install apps. And there are times when I can't connect it to the computer...and etc. I was wondering if it has a proper Honeycomb in it...so the point is that I decided to delete everything from it and reinstall the Honeycomb myself. I'm not very into these things, so it's a big effort for me to do this.
I have been searching for tutorials for 2 days. I think I found the right one somewhere here on this website. I've closed it unfortunately and it was opened yesterday and I cleared yesterday's history for some other reasons...so I can't open it again.
So the last time everything was ready, so was I, to do the installing. But, the comp. was searching for some APX files, probably drivers, but it didn't find it. So I couldn't continue the installation.
I've been looking for these drivers for hours, but haven't found anything. So I decided to register to this site, ask you, experts where to seek and what to do.
I lost so much time on this that I shouldn't have...
Thanks for your help in advance!
(Sorry for my English if it isn't understandable everywhere, I'm a non-native-speaker. Cheers! )
Now I'm about to restore the whole device following this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011654) tutorial. Hope it'll solve some of the problems.

Dude, try not to dobblepost. Its quite better when you edit the first one.
(By the way im not a native english speaker to but i hope you understand what i mean)
Could you write down how far you come. At which step do you stop? And if the drivers are a problem, please post your Computer OS, like Windows or Linux or Mac.
I have solved the problem. Should I delete this thread somehow?

No, you should post your solution in this thread. If someone has the same problem they may do a search and find this thread, and they can learn from you. Or if the solution was in another thread, post a link to that thread.
hah, okay The reason I didn't want to is because I think it's not a big deal. I have pushed the volume + and the Turn Off button then Factory Reset, and waited. Now everything's fine. The problem was, actually that I'd been doing...rather trying the reseting in a wrong way. I thought I should do it in the Settings/Privacy menu. But no. So It solved my problems. I didn't need to re-install Honeycomb as I'd thought the time I started this thread. I believed that the problem is in my HC, but fortunately no, so I'm going to sleep. Minden jót, srácok!
