Anybody from Belgium with Nexus One? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm moving to, not visiting, Belgium in a few months and want to obviously use my Nexus One.
I currently have the AT&T version
Compatible with 3G on AT&T (U.S.) and these wireless providers in Canada.
Supports three 3G/UMTS bands (850/1900/2100 MHz) and four GSM radio frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

It does use a SIM card right now and do Belgium cell phone carriers use SIM's?
Is my Nexus currently compatible with Belgium frequencies/bands?
What carrier should I go with?
I have no clue and want to have a bit of a clue when I get there
Thanks!

I Live in the Netherlands (neighbour of belgium) and i can use my phone here, the t-mobile version. and i also can use my phone when i'm in belgium.
So i don't know if the At&t version will work but the t-mobile version works fine, and yes we use sim

Cool thanks.

I'm from Belgium! Nexus one works perfect.

Which version of the Nexus One do you use? What is a good service provider over there for cell?

According to this link: http://www.netcomm.com.au/solutions/3g-mobile-broadband/why-use-3g-hspa/3g-carriers
It appears that belgium is using 2100MHz for 3G so it looks like the AT&T version should work fine (and the TMobile version ofc).
edit:
All GSM carriers use SIM cards.

Does T-Mobile Nexus One work with Optus network?

I am considering to buy a Nexus One (t-mobile) from the xda marketplace and I'd like to know whether it will work on the Optus network in Australia. I'm kinda a newb at all the different country spectrums and all that jargon. Also, will 3G (+data) and HSDPA & HSUPA work?
Thanks and hope this can be answered!
Nexus One is carrier unlocked. It will work on the Optus GSM network in Australia.
According to the Optus wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optus#Mobile_telephony Optus has their 3G on 2100Mhz. The Tmobile version of the Nexus One supports 3G band on 2100Mhz http://www.google.com/phone/detail/nexus-one. You should be good to go.
Hopefully another Optus subscriber with a Nexus can chime in to confirm.

Ok great. My friend also said the Nexus One on t-mobile should work with Optus. I just to make sure.
As someone who used the t-mobile nexus one on Optus for nearly a year.
Yes.

Does HSDPA and HSUPA work?
It all works, there is nothing that doesn't work in regards to the reception and bands. 100% compatible.
Oh alright, cool. Thanks very much. Can't wait to get my Nexus One then!

3g rogers

Did it work before?
There are two versions of Nexus One's, the AWS TMO version, and the AT&T version (which I believe is compatible with Rogers). Since both companies use different frequencies for 3G data, if you are using the wrong one, you will only be able to receive edge due to hardware limitations.
I'm assuming you are in a 3g area? Other people around you get 3g OK?
Settings - Wireless & networks - Mobile networks: Is it set to "Use only 2g networks"?
there are 2 versions of the nexus one. one version only works with tmobile 3g, and the other version works with ATT/Rogers 3G and supports 850/1900mHz. you need the second version. you probably purchased the wrong nexus one version.
the rogers version is no longer sold, only the tmobile version. so you will have to find one used on ebay or craigslist.
I have an N1 that uses AT&T/Rogers bands and I connect to Roger's 3g network fine. What part of the country are you in? I'm in the Thunder Bay, Ontario area and I haven't had connection issues yet.

Yeah, you have to make sure you bought the correct model to run on Rogers. Same network bands as AT&T in the US.
The T-Mo version can't use anything higher than EDGE.

LG P925 (or P920) with 4G or 3G for T-mobile USA network?

So, I'm using a P925 thrill AT&T branded which is UNLOCKED on T-mobile USA. But only getting 2G edge data speeds, and I'm being told no matter what I do, or what baseband I flash, I will never get anything other than edge on this device. My question is, is there a comparable device that DOES offer 3g/4g T-mobile USA compatibility?
I'm trying to migrate from unlocked iPhone's (again, using on T-mobile USA) to Android - simply because I'm bored of iPhone's... Have had them all except the 4S - but have a iPhone 4 so its pretty much the same thing. While I know the 3D of the Thrill is a little gimmicky, I think its one of the coolest "gimmicks" to hit in a long time, and because I only recently got a 3D TV -- well, recording 3D video's and watching them at home is pretty effin cool.
So, am I stuck with a T-mobile branded Galaxy device if I want 4G or 3G on T-mobile USA?
Any advice would be helpful, since I'm pretty much an Android Noob! THANKS!
If I remember correctly the optimus 3d might work with t-mobile usa. But you might have to double check just to make sure .
This is off topic, but how did you unlock your phone?
You should be able to use the 2100 UMTS band with T-Mobile, but I believe you need both the 1700 and 2100 bands for full 3G. If so, you need a baseband for either T-Mobile, Wind or another Canadian Carrier with T-Mo's 3G bands. The nice thing about this phone is it's flexibility of use with other networks by baseband flash. (Now we need other leaked GB basebands.... Ugh.)
If you want a non branded Android phone that works on Tmobile 3G/4G bands look at the Incredible S, Sensation (International Version), Sensation XE, Nexus Galaxy, the TELUS version of the Galaxy S II and the Nexus S.

yes o3d p920 works. but there are 2 versions of p920. make sure it has 1700mhz baseband. this is where i bought
http://www.atgsm.com/LG_P920_Optimus_3D_Black_p/phone-lgp920black.htm
So are there any basebands available that I can flash to my p925 to get t-mobile usa 3g/4g speed?
Q: how did I unlock my p925?
I took it to a store, and they unlocked it for me.

I am also looking for this baseband so I can get my LG Thrill 4G to work with 3G (or hopefully 4G) speeds on T-Mobile. Please share the love!
I'm only getting 2G speeds on T-Mobile (I am in the USA, San Francisco area).

Will the SU660 work in the UK?

I am in South Korea and will be moving to the UK soon.
I have the SU600 on SKT in Korea. It is rooted and I'm running Kangs CM on 4.0.3.
If I buy a UK sim card when I arrive, will the phone work fine for calls/messaging/data? I looked on gsmarena and the 2G frequencies seem to match up. But the 3G on the phone is HSDPA, but GSM arena says the UK needs UMTS 2100. Will it still work?
Would I need to get it unlocked in Korea before I leave?
Thank you

From my experience, having a custom rom is effectively same as having a sim unlocked phone. So based on what you wrote, I have every expectation that you'll successfully use at least the 2g network in UK.
I bought my su660 in Korea too and now I am using it in the US. It turned out, however, that I cannot use the 3g hspa network here with T-Mobile because they require phones having both 1900 & 2100 bands. So I am stuck with just 2G for now.
So I would do careful research on what bands UK operators use before you head on over, especially if you really need 3g speed and if you are not planning on buying another phone anytime soon. I hope you will be in better luck than me.
Bon voyage and good luck!

You are wrong sim unlock has nothing to do with root/custom ROM. He has to unlock the SIM before.
And to unlock you need a STOCK LG ROM, froyo or gingerbread, as it needs lge hidden menu which isn't present in custom ROMs.
I unlocked last week I had to reflash a froyo LG Stock ROM.
Some people say that putting a SIM card from a different network pops up the unlock option at boot but couldn't try.

I imported an ATT Atrix for using in Mexico with Telcel Carrier, and when I first inserted the Telcel Sim Card, the Sim Unlock Menu popped. So yes, maybe your Optimux 2x is already unlocked.
Anyway, you can unlock your phone anytime and in anyplace. Just insert a sim card from another Carrier Company and the option should be showed.

Cool, I will check the SIM unlock then.
How about the frequencies it uses?
According to gsmarena the SU660 has 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 3G Network HSDPA
The UK frequencies for 2G are Required GSM 900. Recommended GSM 900 and GSM 1800. and 3G Required UMTS 2100.
I'm guessing that this means the 2G will work, but 3G won't? Can someone tell me if this is correct, I don't fully understand what it means with the SU660 having HSDPA. Is this a different to UMTS??
Hsdpa is UMTS.

GSM arena has insufficient info. Check out http://www.phonegg.com/compare/27/LG-Optimus-2X-vs-LG-Optimus-2X-SU660.html
From what I see there and what you described about UK operators, it seems like you will be able to use 3g.

That could be a bit misleading because the 2x I have here in Australia has 2100 and 900 but no 850. 850 is used exclusively by one carrier here.
So, the link may depend on in which region the 2x is sold.

Does the Nexus 6 get 4G LTE in the US on AT&T's network?

Hi,
I don't want to make the same mistake twice! I bought a Ascend Mate 7 (MT7-L09) and low and behold it does not work with Cricket (my carrier) which runs off of AT&T towers. I tried to make it work with the whole HSPA+ thing but it's really slow, cutting in and out, service bouncing around, problems with the play store, etc.
So if I can find a phone I like that is large and gets 4G LTE - I want to switch. Hence my question about the Nexus 6 . I see that Verizon sells it so I assumed it was a 4G LTE phone but I see a lot of talk on here about HSPA and LTE being "released" for this phone so I don't want to to get one if it's not something that's going to get lte.
Anyone know about the 4G situation with AT&T (NOT TMOBILE - no TMobile access in my area!)?
Thanks in advance! (And sorry I'm spamming this board so much lately with my phone stupidity).
The Nexus 6 XT-1103 is sold by AT&T in the US and works with all AT&T LTE frequency bands. The Nexus 6 XT-1100 (International version) works with some, but maybe not all, AT&T LTE bands.
