I always get a unsuccessful message when flashing rom through twrp. After that, I wanna restore my stock 4.1 I backup earlier, but it went into boot loop after I restore, I had Odin back to stock for twice, reroot and things remain the same, any help?
Thanks in advance!
If i remember right in TWRP must mount your system before flash.

And the cause which led to the installation failure?
Try to use CWM recovery from CoCore Kernel and see if you can flash custom ROM's.
But make a backup in CWM of your stock ROM, because that one from TWRP don't work in CWM.
I have never had any bugs/errors with CWM, NEVET. So try to follow Razvan's comment

Redownload the ROM. Zip is corrupted, or you renamed the folder zip and name contain spaces.
Try first with redownload. I'm almost sure for corrupted zip.

Ok, and how about the unable to restore what i backed up? btw, just to double confirm, do I flash CWM by downloading Cocore, extract it, and flash the tar.md5 with universal kernel flasher?

Make sure what version you flash. If your phone is I9070P you must download EP version, and for I9070 must flash E version.

GT-i9070, rooted with the root.zip (from recovery), flash shaan temporary cwm, from there flashed cocore kernel (CWM), and I'm stuck here, unable to flash roms, unable to restore stock rom backups

Hmm, now you have custom recovery.
Enter in recovery, and if choose backup to sdcard1., and wit until finish that operation and receive message "backup complete".
Then, if you already have downloaded ROM and GApps, make wipe cache and dalvik and do a wipe of data/factory reset (be sure you have already backed up your apps with some backup app like Titanium Backup or other), go to install zip, choose zip from external card and proceed to flash, first ROM after that GApps.
For some testing purposes I need to use the stock kernel. Is there any way I can flash stock kernel image without flashing the whole ROM? AFAIK the file boot.img under stock ROM is the stock kernel, so can I flash that via ADB? Currently on Faux's kernel.

Use fast boot to flash it . Fastboot flash boot boot.img.
Just to let you know, I've flashed backups in recovery to do the same

You have to flash the system.img too along with the boot.img . Remember this for future ref
Is there any way to backup a stock rooted ROM on 5.1.1, and then restore if I cannot access TWRP? I want to flash a custom ROM using FlashFire, but if anything goes wrong, I want to know if I can go back. Thanks in advance.

Didn't see that. Thank you
But it's not a backup that can be relied on if anything goes very wrong as you need to be able to boot up to run the flashfire app.

Yup - that capability only comes with a custom recovery or other utility that can be booted as an alternative to whatever lives in the System and Recovery partitions. To my knowledge this isn't an option with 5.1.1 so you are screwed if the OS won't boot to the point of enabling adb communications. One could use the adb backup and restore commands but the same limitation exists if you can not gain adb access for recovery. Fastboot itself is only useful for system recovery if the bootloader is unlocked.
tl;dr - you are taking a risk flashing a custom rom; the device may not be recoverable if things go bad. Go in with eyes open.
Hey guys, I cannot wipe data/factory reset in CWM recovery. When i click on wipe data/factory reset there are 5 ''no'' options only. Every one of them sends me back to the main menu. I cannot flash the rom, it requires me to wipe the data. How can i solve this? I really dont want to screw this up again, I hard-bricked my s4 mini recently.

I tried to install twrp to my s4 mini (i had the cw installed) using twrp manager but i hard-bricked my phone, so im not big fan of using twrp. I want to try downgrading my cwm but I have no idea how to do that. Is it possible to install over the current cwm with using odin or should i do a clean installation first, reinstalling stock recovery then flashing the new cwm recovery? Or any other solution?

You won't screw up anything if you take a good guide and flashing manual through odin is (imo) the best way to do this.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52581015&postcount=3
Guide says "Download and extract "GT-I8190_TWRP_2.7.0.0.tar.md5.zip" but there is a newer version available so use 2.8.7.3 from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347840977
Good luck!

No no, of course not. This will simply overwrite your current recovery. Don't forget: This is for i8190 model only. Don't try this on i8200!

Nope, cwm backups are unfortunately not compatible with twrp. But don't worry, flashing a new recovery doesn't wipe data or system.
If, contrary to expectations, something should go wrong, you can still flash cwm again and restore your cwm backup. So no matter what - do always a backup, it is always useful.
