[REQ] Android on XDA IIi Effort (must read) - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

I know, before you start calling me a n00b, that there is already a tread about this. The thing is, it seems that progress on both ALPINE LINUX and ANDROID has halted. Hopefully, Cotulla will release his WINMO 6 soon, but what about people that want a decent OS on their mobile? Come on, lets get porting, or, at the very least, will someone point me to a site where I can learn how to port the OSes?

this may can help you, waiting for your good news

Nothing? No-one willing to help me?

Up and Rising Dev?!

I am sort of new to the android os and have kind of taught myself through use of this website how to manipulate the os to help benefit its use. thanks to all of the great dev's that have spent there lesiure time doing what they love. I was just wondering if anyone of those great dev's would take the time to maybe help me out with this development stuff. i kind of wanna learn how to write even just a small free app that i could put on the market to maybe help someone else out. i would need to have a dev who is basically looking for an apprentice, someone like myself who is ( in short a guy with no life ) someone who loves the computer and loves his android phone. i suppose there may be a dev out there that is looking to help someone else out that wants to do what they do, so i will hit all the sites that i have been for the last couple months, wiki, androidspin, xda, google...etc for any info i can read about development and the android os. thanks in advance dev's hopefully someday i will be "cooking roms" for the community to use!

[PROJECT] Android for Touch Pro 2 "Let's make this happen"

I know there is another thread about Android for TP2 but it is a [poll] thread and 98% want it so let's make this happen! Together we WILL have Android on this great device!

Subscribed! Will be checking in!
I'm waiting for the Android port too. Thanks to all those people working on it! Hopefully it will be done as soon as possible because I can't wait till I can run Linux on my Rhodium.

I love ANDROID
Cool stuff.....
I love Android
Props for starting the thread....
BUT....
I CANT STAND AMERICAN STREET SLANG!!!!
ITS DUMBING DOWN THE WORLD AS IT EATS IN EVERY TV SHOW AND RADIO BROADCAST!
Kids in London all walking around "word up pimpin'?"
Word UP PIMPING!!! PIM<PING!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean - pimps are a BAD part of society. They are only there because of the stupid laws that mean there is no such thing as a SAFE LEGAL sex worker.
But Android WILL ROCK!!!
id like to help but i havent programed in 6 years... and i kind of fail at using linux on my laptop. (so i use windows) i havent yet used android but i assume its alot better a os then winmobile... wm6.5 ect makes me wish i has symbion on my phone at times... just because of how laggy it is.
This thread is great, but could someone post a quick status update? Ideally, the first post should indicate a few main points so people don't have to read all of the chatter to find the basic info.
A few things that would be nice to have on post #1:
Overview of project
Status
Blocking issues
Help needed from community
(dare I say) ETA?
Is this just a wishful thread or is something really happening ?
+ for the project.
i agree with paulbram!!
For a fully working Android port to TP2 I would definitely donate some cash!
And probably more than me would do the same.
I just got my TP2 last week. Must say that i am liking. Anyways wanna give out a shout out to all my peeps, chuck up the deuce and to all them chicken heads out there, keep flapping your gums!
p.s. ^ that was just a joke. But hopefully we do get some developing going on with this badboy.
Please keep in mind those of us on CDMA networks!
Thanks!

Here here. I'm brand new to this stuff for phones, but I have a ton of linux/windows experience and an HTC tp2 so if you need me to break (ok hopefully not) my (CDMA) phone testing something, I'm down.
Who is actually doing work on this? I mean, we can have a thread about this and talk all day, but if nobody works on it. Wish I had the knowledge to program this..
Not just a wishlist
this thread was started because the other 30 pages posted were on a poll thread...cr2 i think is to a point where he/she is now lab testing. i think the got dumps from both GSM & CDMA.anyway, i can't wait to get this port...

I want to get into custom roms development

Well I want to get into android development... But I really don't know where to start...
Is there a guide or something I can look at to learn a little about this?
I'm a programmer but I have never gotten into OS programming nor anything too complex.
Anyway if someone can help I will really appreciate it
=)

a) If you're a "programmer" then u should either distribute a modified kernel, which frankly we have enough variety of but i dont want to discourage people so....
b) Or you could work on the cyanogenmod team in making it run stable on our phone.
c) Aside from those, you have stock "rom development" which comes down to unpacking, adding/removing, repacking....as ur dealing with proprietary code (closed source).
I'd consider the last option to be a waste of ur talent. Id go with option a/b.

Well if you're already good with Java then that's a good start.
Not sure about ROM development but for general Android development you might wanna find this book "O Reilly Head First Android" and it will be the first link on Google. They are fantastic books, the whole series.
Hope this helps some bit.
with android development (apps and stuff)
im with this.

[Q] Hi, I'm new on XDA Forum

Hi, Myself Amol Baikar.
I'm from India.
Im new on this forum. today i hacked windows phone 8.1
and want to submit post in achievement section.
so plz guide me as soon as possible, i'm waiting. and very excited to post Windows Phone ethical Hacking for Nokia Devices.
i'm first in the wolrd who hacked wp 8.1 lumia device.
Unless you have some reason to avoid sharing it, you should let us know what you did so we can properly appreciate it and ideally give us a tool/app to do it ourselves and start making use of it! Explaining *how* you did it is not required, although I personally nearly always do so; it's a good way to build trust.
Having 10 posts will let you create a thread in the Development & Hacking forums, which is really the proper place for announcing a successful hack, but there's nothing terribly wrong with posting it here instead.
Depending on how good your hack is (interop-unlock? full-unlock? bootloader-unlock? arbitrary code execution with full trust?), whether it's specific to Nokia phones or not, and what it requires (special hardware? a particular regional ROM? hard-resetting your phone?) we may start using the hack immediately; any time you sit on it is time we can't even get started. So, let us know what you've got!
