I flashed the bugless beast v0.4 rom earlier. But for a couple days now have had trouble getting device to stay in recovery which I'm using clockworkmod. It reboots after a couple seconds of entering recovery by its self. Now I can't get it to stay at all. I'm trying to install the black glass theme. Any ideas?

I have a similar problem with Milestone, i flashed the Got sbd and used their mod of Open recovery, i used it (put Got theme, root, busybox and maybe one or two more things) I got back in Got's Open recovery 1 or 2 more times but since i can't i've got the Warning but never the recovery itself, i put a new one (new version) but same thing. The Got sbf works well but get back again in recovery stay a mistery, i search for a clue in google but i feel like i'm the only one with that problem
Yeah I know, the problem with Droid is it doesn't mount the sdcard when I enter recovery so it aborts and reboots. I've reflashed but when I pull the battery after it fails recovery then put it back in and try again it works some times but I may have to do it a couple times to work. Can't seem to figure it out. Also I've tried sprecovery and I think its the same thing but it doesn't reboot it just wont let me do some things in sprecovery like make a backup or flash a rom. Scratching my head here.

Ok, so you've got the recovey list then? I don't. It's stay on the warning screen. I think the last thing i've done before i can't get it back is to use app2sd (the choise witch make the app2sd partition (I put 2 Go i think) maybe that's the my problem.
Maybe you might have to try rrflashing recovery. I'm not sure other wise like the Droid there might be a couple buttons to hit to enter recovery. I know before I rooted when I want to enter recovery, I have to hold power and the x button on power up and when on warning screen I hold volume up and camera button. I don't know if the same appliese to you after rooting where you don't need second set of buttons. But I do know recovery.img. isn't flashed or stored on sdcard. So when it's flash recovery your flashing the file on the phones internal storage. You probably know this but that being said unless you have a bad recovery flash or recovery.img isn't present on phone hard drive. It should work. or atleast I think it should. Some devices have trouble mounting the sdcard when entering recovery, I don't know if that's what happens if your doesn't. All I can suggest is trying to flash an alternative recovery system and if it work try reflashing the one you use now. When mine wont work I flash sprecovery and flash back to clockworkmod and it work some times. Other wise I pull the battery for 2 minutes and try again. Usually have luck with one of those. Sorry if this don't help you if you've tried.

Thanks for the help i manage to enter recovery this way : after the warning screen : i let all buttons then i hold Volume UP and then push camera button
Next step : enter GOT's Openrecovery instead ^^
No problem. Glad to help. Just surprised because usually after installing custom recovery you don't need second set of buttons to hold down. I learn something new every day.

Of course still having trouble with mine but realized after flashing alternate recovery from terminal emulator and then going back to clockworkmod. It seems easier. Just wish I could figure out why sdcard doesn't mount in recovery.

Hi Folks,
I had a CyanogenMod-6.1 for Nexus One :: V6.1.0-RC1 (10/28/2010) installed on my Nexus 1.
Prior to that i was using CM6.0 RC1 stable release. Did an upgrade (with full void and nandroid backup) to try out the new features.
However this afternoon, out of nowhere, my volume buttons and trackball started to malfunction.
i.e to say : I cannot adjust volumes in any part of the apps/phone and i can't select/click stuffs with the Trackball.
Hence, I thought of removing CM6.1. Here's the problem started.
#1. I can't boot into recovery. The phone itself will be stuck at the big "X" screen. After 5mins, it will boot into CM6.1
- Using ROM Manager i tried to reflash Clockwork Mod 2.5.1.0 for a couple of times but i still cannot get into Recovery.
Be it powering up with trackball held down, booting into recovery up via Rom Manager. Surprisingly, volume down was working together with power down was able to go into Bootloader
for me to select "Recovery", however, i still can't access Recovery.
#2. I tried using ./fastboot-mac flash recovery updatedclockwork.img also can't.
#3. I tried using Amon-RA. ./fastboot-mac flash recovery Amon-RA.img also to no avail.
#4. i used ./fastboot-mac update to load a StockFRF91 Froyo also can't get into recovery.
As of now, my phone is stuck continuously in bootloop, cannot access Recovery. I've tried almost 30+ fixes on XDA and other Android Forums but i still can't fix it.
Is there anyway, i can wipe everything inclusive of the "Corrupted Recovery" files and restore back my Nexus One?
Thank you all please save my phone! :'(
Dude I feel your pain. I have the exact same problem. I wonder if it is a CM6 issue?
I flashed the Tayutama 1.0.3 captivated ROM, then I used the clockwork recovery to replace the glass lock screen by the Froyo stock one.
Now the phone automatically boots to the clockwork recovery screen, tried to take the battery out but no use.
I still can boot to download mode, but the point is that I left something important in the old system, and now it seems I can't take it out because of this bug.
Any idea?
Fixed it. Here's the tips for people who have the same problem as mine:
1. Use clockwork create a backup.
2. One click flash
3. Install Tayutama's ROM
4. Use clockwork again, choose "Advanced restore" and "restore DATA"
It should work.

Did it wipe your data? Or is it in a backup? You could ADB pull the file/information if its a picture or file .... IF you didn't wipe your SD Card.
Also you could attempt to find Tyutama 1.0.3 ROM and find the stock lock screen and try and push it back on and see if your phone reboots.
But rule of thumb:
Always put a backup of whatever your about to screw with on your SD Card. You can use root explorer/ADB/Little Green Men to do it.. doesnt matter how you get the file.. important thing is to have it on the SDCard.
When it fubars you can always (usually) copy the backup back to the location where you fubard it - and *voila* your phone should boot right up.
I have done this (countless) a few times and have always been able to restore the phone to have it boot up enough for me to either re-flash or go on my merry way.
Good luck.
First off, I'm very sorry as I know by now you are mostly sick of noobs but I tried to figure out what I'm doing wrong on my own and am just stuck.
So here it goes:
I rooted my DROID 2.2.1 with superone click. Did everything I've read to do and tried to install bugless beast ROM. Tried to boot into recovery but I got the triangle exclamation point screen on reboot. Tried to install the ROM via ROM manager and the same thing happened. I was then able to get to clockwork recovery through ROM manager somehow and installed the ROM. At this point, I got the startup screen for bugless beast and it just looped. I restored back to Froyo and cannot get back to recovery boot because that $#%% screen with the triangle exclamation is killing me.
What should I do now? Or am I just too noob at this and should go back to the Matrix lifestyle of "ignorance is bliss" by unrooting?
Thanks again.
Matt
prepare to kick yourself in the head ^^
- the "triangle exclamation" pictures is EXACTLY the point where you can enter Recovery.
here´s how: press "volumeUP" and the "camera" button at the same time.
then navigate through the recovery (if you have a custom recovery installed, you´ll need to choose "apply update.zip" to load the custom/open recovery on the first screen) using your D-Pad.
Thank you for the button combo to get where I need to go. Now does anyone know why when I load a ROM, the start up screen just loops forever? I have tried loading cyanogen6 and bugless beast now both with the same issue.
nevermind...I'm stupid. Sorry. Needed to wipe data. But how do I get all my data back? If I restore data through nandroid then I just get boot loops again.
I haven't used rom manager before.
So i would recommend you to use open recovery to do flashing or rooting.
Have u flash a vulnerable recovery sbf ??
If yes, you can go to recovery mode and select "apply update".
Then the open recovery is applied.
By using OR, you can root phone and apply any updates you want.

How to Create a Nandroid backup
Your Bionic needs to be rooted!
You need to download and Install the Bionic Bootstrap.
http://cvpcs.org/blog/2011-09-16/bionic_bootstrap_recovery
Go into your applications and open “Bionic Bootstrap.”
Click on Bootstrap Recovery
You will see “Success!” tap OK
Now hit “Reboot Recovery.”
Your phone will boot into CWM-base Recovery (Volume is equal to UP and DOWN and Power is equal to Select/Enter/Ok/"DO IT, DO IT NOW")
Using your volume up/down keys, scroll down to “backup and restore” and press the power button.
Highlight "Backup" and press the power button button and the backup will begin.
Once complete highlight “reboot system now” and press the power button to reboot.
You have just created your first nandroid backup!
***Should you ever need to restore to this backup, simply boot into recovery like you just did, scroll down to “backup and restore” and this time highlight “restore” instead of “backup” and find your back up to restore.***
WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR PHONE IS YOUR FAULT!

Awesome work! Thank you! We can now do backup and restore!
Seeing that this is bootstrap recovery... how can you restore these backups if you can't get into android... like stuck in bootloop etc?
Someone please correct me if I am wrong but if you are stuck in a boot loop you would have to return yourself to stock, root, install Bionic Bootstrap and then restore
going to try that right now, i'm not 100% where the nandroid stored, too, we will see if its sd card or on internal once i restore to stock, will let you know.
Edit: im stuck at Dual Core logo, won't even start to boot android, guess I will go home in a lil bit and run the fast boot restore system files.
Should be under sdcard-ext\clockworkmod\backup

Sounds like you need to return to stock like I posted above. What did you do that got you in a bootloop? Just so that I dont do it to myself.
I tried the modified android.policy.jar from adrynylene to be able to use volume buttons to wake the phone. It hasn't been tested, followed directions exactly, so yeah got a backup at least.
My first time dealing with this locked bootloader mess too, not as easy breasy as other phones with custom recoveries, but better than nothing... (a guide for us new to locked bootloader recoveries and restoring nandroid could be an idea for this thread?)
I would agree that will be a good idea. If you figure it out write one up or let me know how and I will write it up and link it in. I would like to learn some more of the technical/advanced side of things.

Have you tried to restore your Nandroid Backup that you made through CWM?
You should be able to do a battery pull and then boot into recovery holding volume down and power on. Then restore your back-up through CWM
he is stuck in a loop so he will have to restore to stock, root, and then nandroid restore. I believe he will be the first to restore lol.
I believe this is because of the locked bootloader and the requirement of Bootstrap to be launched and have it write instructions to boot into recovery on reboot.

Being a bootstrapped CWM, you cannot cold boot into CWM, only stock recovery, so cant restore.... have to get into android and run the bootstrap to reboot into CWM so far what i have seen.. unless you know a way to cold boot into CWM, which would be awesome but I don't think these locked bootloader devices do it.

Dude.... this is America.... its always someone elses fault
I will change the warning to
WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR PHONE IS TauntingBull's FAULT!
The 2nd init recovery being worked on by Hashcode is better than the bootstrap recovery in a couple critical ways. One being that the way its triggered in the boot menu allows you to access it even from a bootlooping phone. This is an obvious advantage if something unexpected happens.
Second, it makes a more complete backup including the boot.img.
In most cases, because we have a locked bootloader and we cannot run an unsigned boot.img this isn't important, but that may change.
The 2nd init version is not ready quite yet though and both provide the critical ability to backup and restore a nandroid. I have been using this version since he first created it and think it shows promise because of the boot menu trigger innovation.
More options makes for a healthier development community IMO!
Im not a english native speaker so in my understanding this not work right I was about to try it but after reading whole tread is my understanding please can you just tell me if works or not thanks

Yes this works and is safe. Another option that maybe an improvement is coming soon.
Both work and both are based on Clockworkmod recovery.
[Q] What'd I do wrong?
I tried to create a backup and received the following errors:
No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Any ideas what this means and how to fix the apparent problem?
Thanks.
K back and going, used teh minimal fxz, reroot, rebootstrap, reboot into cwm then restored nandroid
can't wait for official 2nd_init recovery version
Yay security!

If you don't have an .android_secure folder in the root of your SD card, not a problem.
If you have not created an ext partition (a Linux file system partition) used by Darktremor's Apps2SD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715938), not a problem.
FYI/FWIW - don't know if his script will work on a Bionic, I've got an EVO, a coworker has the DB. Just an innocent bystander here...
