FroYo kernel help - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys,
What are you using as a baseline for your kernel mods?
Vanilla 2.6.32.9 kernel?
base N1 kernel (2.6.29 i presume?)
2.6.32.9 kernel patched with N1 patches from 2.6.29?
Your help would be appreciated, as I'm looking for a good baseline for a new 2.6.32.9 HTC bravo kernel.
Thanks
Martin

Hello, me and Kali- started working on a desire port of 2.6.32.9 from mahimahi files, take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696846

Damn... I knew someone would beat me to it! ;-)
Thanks for the heads up... looks like some good progress is being made. I might give this a try in Richards ROM after work. Looks to be at a similar stage in progress though.
Cheers
Martin

Your help is very welcome if you want to work with us, there's lots to do

[Q] Openvpn on Android 2.2 Froyo JPC?

Does anyone have Openvpn working on Froyo JPC?
It is a simular question like here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=727224&highlight=tun.ko
The problem is that I don't know how to compile the Samsung I9000 kernel sources for a working tun.ko.
Can somebody help with compiling it for me?
All I know is that you can't use it if you compile with 2.6.29 kernel source. I'm trying to compile nilfs2 module compatible to froyo 2.9.32.9 kernel and i'm stuck with kernel symbols.
contig_page_data
mem_map
These are very annoying and i've got no idea at the moment.
What should I do?

Sorry, I can't help you with that. Anyway, I switched back to JM7 because JPC is not so good. Response to finger gesture is sometimes to slow which is verry annoying.
Maybe somebody has a tun.ko for JP7?

[Q] Devil 1.1.5 for sghi897

Will Devil kernel work with docs master v5? If so which build of devil?
I am testing for the kernel dev. Just wait there are some bugs that need to be fixed first...
I'm confused isn't Devil kernel i9000 only? Unless someone is porting it.
Thanks b-eock. Will keep checking that thread.
It is compiled from THS kernel source. So I am testing it right now. It should be around soon.
Good reviews on 1.1.6 i see. Hope that means bugs are worked out? Running glitch b5 on captivate and this kernel is taunting.

[Q] How to download and flash a custom kernel?

Hi guys, first post, sorry about that
I wanna know how to download a custom kernel and install it, is it the same as downloading a custom rom and flashing it aswell?
is it to late to flash it now?
i am running Android 4.0 on NOVAHD ICS
thanks ! Jack
Same as rom, just wipe cache and flash in CWM.
Awesome any links to the download of the kernel?
Thanks, Jack
Pfffff, for CM9 there are as far as I know five different kernels and I'm on my phone right now so it's kinda difficult to give you all those links. I'm sorry, but it looks like you need to do the searching yourself.
However, I can still recommend you a kernel . I think, if you use Nova HD, you should use the latest Supernova Kernel from hei1125 as well. I think that would be a great combination. Although I hear that Spica1234's HP extreme kernel isn't bad either. You should take a look for yourself .
Thanks, ill get looking straight away!

Please make it first n try to make sure it working before u create new thread..
many people already say want to make this , make that but
they just keep silent without any news ..
i not judge u but i feel boring when people keep say / ask same thing everyday
and not make some research about it..sorry if i hurt u feeling but as the one of xda dev members , i think i should inform u..
Peace & have a nice day ....
Wtf? U have almost said this in 10-12 post spamming around in all threads!.

What's the point? It's 100% it won't boot. Samsung hasn't released 3.x with changes needed for Mini's drivers... You have to forward port a lot of things.
Yeah it is like try running ics kernel on defy (which have kernel from froyo). That's why i think kernel 2.6.35.14 have some bugs and the 2.6.35.7 doesn't have.
@TheWhisp you tested on Cm10 which kernel is more stable 2.6.35.7 or 2.6.35.14 or you just tested cm10 with the 2.6.35.14?

2.6.35.7 kernel was made by Maclaw, and I don't see the point on restarting a older kernel (they will have to backport the same and probably other things again) as 2.6.35.14 is stable enough.
a 3.0 kernel won't be bad, but look at other Galaxy legacy devices forum (I think it was Galaxy i5500 or something like that), they have been working on a 3.0 kernel for a while and it doesn't even boot, they are making progress, but they have to change a LOT of things (partition scheme is a example, this means it won't be compatible with Odin anymore). It's pointless.
The development of the 3.1.10 kernel release Pottete expect between 15-20 days.
In the meantime, I was wondering, since I am very busy could fill kernel 2.6.37.6 based on this (CM9) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804646 and last config TheWhisp JB in order to have a more updated kernel, also enter toolkit linato When completed please post the kernel of quests theater
If u ar determined to create 3.x.x kernel I suggest u take reference of CYANMOBILE LATEST STABLE kernel its already a version 3.3.3 kernel.

Such kernel does not exist! Squadzone rename his kernel like this when he compiled it. So please don't say something like this. Kernel 3.x.x exist onlt for high end device like gs3 or others.

Kernel recommendation

Hi again,
I need someone who can recommend me a kernel for the official GB ROM, I want to be able to overclock a bit, or there are other ways without changing the kernel?
LGE Version: V20q if it makes any difference.
Thanks very much for your time, will +REP.
EDIT: Can this work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489682
Are there better if this one can work?
The one you found is one of best kernels for stock roms
Cheers!
Will flash it right away and report! :cyclops:
