Hi,
I recently bought a nearly new Milestone that had already had the 2.1 upgrade. The weird thing is that the phone seems to want to randomly turn itself on and off on a regular basis.
I've read elsewhere on some forums that others have experienced similar random rebooting issues since they updated to the latest software.
Anyone here experiencing similar problems?
Thanks

build number?
This is a known bug that was introduced in 2.1-update1, it is fixed only in these builds:
SHOLS_U2_02.34.3 and SHOLS_U2_02.36.0, but these are only for China/HK
According to Motorola support forums, a new SIM card could also do the trick.
Other than that, our only chance is to wait until the 2.2 update reaches us : (
I also had the random reboot problem with my Milestone (factory 2.1 update 1, UK 02.31.0). When the HK 02.34.3 came out, I flashed it manually, and haven't had a single reboot since. Current uptime about 188 hours. And my SIM is about 8 years old.

for this reason i sent mine back, and i now have another device.
alot of calls to moto support though. they suck!
Issue now resolved - I updated to the leaked ROM U2.36.0 update and not a single random reboot so far...
Did you use the GOT one? I put it last night and no reboot since

when the problem will be solved from Moto side? I need the official Arabic ROM
I believe the source of the problem is in the cell part of the phone. Whenever I do something that requires a data exchange, or right after I end a call, the phone reboots instantly. I'm not saying it happens every time I do those stuff, as far as I see, the phone reboots.
I hope the 2.2 update fixes this.

I'm also facing this problem. Does a new sim card really works? I have updated to the newest firmware but still the problem persists. Anyone can help?

So now that w ehave the 2.2 SBF, is it pretty much safe for us on 2.2 OTA to use the custom ROM's on here (w/ Koush's bootstrap)?
OP, actually, it was RELEASED in this very foum. MODs killed it this morning. Guess they were afraid of the C & D. If you were on here about midnight EST last night..... you had it before it even hit the tor's

Cool, thanks. And yeah I downloaded it earlier just to have it (did the same thing with the 2.1 SBF, so i should be pretty set).
so will this allow a direct upgrade from the 2.2 leak to the 2.2 official?
I'm still seeding if anyone cares.
It will"flash" your phone to the ota with the new kernel, baseband etc. So yes to answer ur question. This is the same utility file used by "technicians" in store to recover or reset devices. Our equivalent of a ruu I guess. Be sure you have the latest rds lite 4.8 I think. Also make sure ur drivers are up to date.

I used this earlier today after I started getting some force closes when I used the battery manager and other odd behavior after I rooted. Once it did what it needed to I did a factory reset and now I'm back to factory and the battery stats fc issue is fixed.

I would give the Battery Stats FC issue some time before you say it's fixed. It's a known issue with the OTA and Moto acknowledged it so sorry to burst your bubble, but it'll come back. It's off and on and seems random.

Agree with avlfive... I can basically toggle the Battery STats FC by rebooting my phone.
Moto has acknolwedged it, like he said, and has given NO timetable on a fix. They just say it's slated for a "future release"

Hi,
Anyone else having problem with hot reboots? Had texas, bcm and aopk on my phone but never had a solid running system.
Right now I've got aokp which only gives me one reboot right after start.
What is your experience?
I have been running BCM for days now, without any issues. Check your partition formats, start with clean flash and see what happens.
Formated the old sd card via gparted. For the new one I used 4ext recovery...
And I always make a full wipe before I flash a new rom.

Which version of AOKP are you using? May 30? It seems that the dev has confirmed the software and hardware problems. He recommends to use 1 or 2 version back. I am using May 27 version and didn't have hot reboot issues often. It rebooted sometimes.
I got the same issue with setcpu v2.4 running with these ICS rom's. I upgraded setcpu then things are OK now.

I also use the May 27th version.
In the meantime I tried every other ICS Rom once more (texas, BCM and Miui V4). Also flashed those roms with the kernel aopk uses.
So far aokp is the best one.
Hopefully aokp will be continued soon.
@phhuang
Good idea. Gonna try setcpu.
What are your settings?
I had the same reboot problems you have with BCM older than 12/06/09.
Since then, no particular problem, except the governor falling back to userspace after each reboot, hence quite laggy.

I have just installed this ROM. but, I can send SMS and use the 3G (Whatsapp,Browser and etc...) , but when I try to call it says "Call ended" before it even give any sign of health but, I can get calls but can't make.
anyway , I've entered the APN's correctly for 100%, any other idea. I did installed the ROM correctly. and reinstalled.
you're applying one of the latest developments (nightly builds) they might be buggy due to any impact - so why doing that?
Go for a CM9 based ROM to run it without trouble.

Actually also a developer I could notice they claiming that this nightly is perfectly fine. anyway, I had this problem even with my older ROM (the stock one). so I can guess its not a problem with the new ROM.
I never worked on this device, I can guess its something with the hardware, cause im not well-adjusted in the details, I asked if there is common bugs or something....
i'm using this rom as a daily driver, and not even once had a problem similar to the one described by you... so it must be something with your phone, as you said...

Roaming Indicator Flashing
My Moto X (XT1056) works perfectly on stock ROM but when I installed CM11 on it, its roaming indicator started flashing. I have tried changing its network modes but still it keeps on flashing. I can receive messages and calls but can't make any call or send messages. What to do?
Sorry, I 'm new to this , which version I should download for my moto x 1058, thanks

In June, I made a mistake that wiped my phone all the way down to boot img. Using adb and my extremely limited knowledge of how to use it, I was able to get this puppy up and running again. Due to money issues, it's just a small entertainment center for me now, (music, movies while I ride the bus, news & books, etc,) so I depend on WiFi heavily. When I (luckily!) Reformatted the phone from scratch, (misplaced my backup, when internal memory was wiped when the oops happened,) cm11 was having problems with WiFi. I believe that, from what I'm reading in the cm11 post, that the WiFi issue is cleared up and I'd like to get up to date, setting as how I'm using an April release. I'm using a sprint moto x, (1056, I THINK!?)
Am I gonna have to find this modem people are talking about, or can I just clean flash up to the latest nightly?
Can anyone throw me a little bone here?
Thanks, all...
Any and all info is greatly appreciated!!!

Since its a long way from stock 4.4.4 I don't intend to wipe.... more than -hopefully- once.

Flash stock ROM get GPS lock, boot into recovery flash CM. GPS should work. I have to do this every once in while when GPS starts acting up usually good until you clean flash or switch Roms.

I was having this problem until moments ago. GPS Status and Toolbox would never find a single satellite, though I found it worked fine in stock.
Strangely, Tekanina's advice worked for me on my Xt1053 DE. I restored a TWRP backup of stock (not for the first time), got GPS lock, then flashed the latest CM nightly, got an binary error on flashing, did a wipe, binary error went away, flash succeeded, booted up, got GPS satellites right away! Not sure if it was getting a GPS lock in stock, or the full wipe that fixed this. I though for sure GPS was borked in recent versions of CM on ghost. Seems it isn't!

Unfortunately, no, it doesn't. Due to the lack of a normal notifications LED, this means you get no indication at all of notifications. There is a bright green LED in the earpiece that a couple of people have figured out how to turn control, but apparently it can't be used as a notification LED because (at least for now) it requires a USB connection to turn on:

So before I apply the update to the new update to temasek do I need to flash the bootstack for it to work even coming from your optimized cm 12.1 builds? And if so what bootstck do we need? Thanks.
Edit: sorry I guess I read the discussion post to fast, I guess that's for people coming from stock or anything other than kitkat

Temasek rom on d405N with LG quick case
Hi, am trying your latest right now, great job again.
Clean install using slim mini gaps as per your link.
Some issues/ remarks
1: First boot appears to get stuck on CM boot anim. (blue flashing andr. head) longer than with other roms, then goes straight to lock screen, no android updating popup etc. as has been my experience with other roms. So don't pull the battery too quickly (as I did at first attempt), patience is a virtue:angel:
2: Initial set up menu doesn't get past ''Checking connections'', (this may take up to 2 minutes) yeah right, so I hit back and skip and I setup wifi later.
3: Takes longer than for instance your optimized rom to get a cell connection after inserting sim pin.
4: Root acces problems. As has been mentioned in main thread.
5: Quick case working as it should opening and closing the case, missing other functionality, but this is great:highfive:,
That's it for quick impressions, keep up the good work and good night.
Is this rom working better than CM12.1? Does apps start up faster etc...
Love the ROM so far! Default CM root was working until the first reboot (tested with su command in the virtual terminal). The su command in terminal continued to work fine after reboot (remembered permission), but new apps could not get the root request notification. So I had to flash SuperSU as suggested. It does take some time to boot up after the flash but it's well worth. Got like 700 more points in AnTuTu!
Keep up the great work!

There are kernel settings you can adjust that seem to minimize the reboots. But sometimes without even changing any settings, I can go days without a reboot. Then sometimes I'll get 3 in like an hour or 2. But if you mess with some settings, you can find ways to almost get rid of the random reboots

Well @CaptivateKing, it's the one on Mexican market, as long as I know N is for NFC, i still haven't found out what is it about the H lol, ok... I got great news, I hope these are helpful for other people (not much noisy guys in LatAm trying to mod their LGs I'd imagine, but anyways I'll tell you my experience anyway), not more than 5 minutes ago, I ended up tweaking my D400HN and it's now working beautifully with your ROM mate (thanks a lot, I'm still mesmerized... it's like having a new phone lol), the huge issue with the sim card was the Bootstack... I'll be honest, I started this rom-changing thing with an old but faithful Verizon's Samsung Fascinate I got from the States a while ago, but never worked on LG until now, 6 months ago I decided to pass on my guarantee and rooted the phone and started to tweak it, long story short, I couldn't get it to work on this KDZ app by LG so I was getting desperate, started trying with some ROMs and discovered in a thread (I think it was @Xemidra, or someone else referred someone to his Bootstack thread if I'm not mistaken, [and I'm actually looking for the post to thank him lol]), the thing is that after flashing BOOTSTACK_v1.4_D405N-10F while on your ROM the phone inmediatly recognized my sim card, now im happy... trying to learn little by little about Java and all this new world... I'd really love the camera to record video and that'll be it for your ROM sir... I haven't had not a single reboot, not a glitch or anything, it just gets slightly clumsy at times but it's almost noticeable...
so, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Ahh yea, the bootstack issue! I included a little disclaimer about that in the OP I'm glad you are enjoying the ROM so far!

Absolutely love this ROM! Flashed clean 20150606 and than did the OTA update when the new build came out. Recovery script worked fine, automatic reboots, flashing, etc. just like regular OTA update. System UI crashed a couple of times after update, I think because of Nova Launcher. Went back to Trebuchet and it didn't crash since, not even a reboot. Haven't experienced any SIM problems. Enjoying it very much on my LG-D405n.
