Hi everyone, I've been searching around for the Quietly Brilliant bootscreen and it was relatively easy to find but as the Hero boots by default with the Hero logo (which cannot be easily replaced with another) in black background, the white bootscreen looks out of place.
Then, I found a black version made by watzone69. But, the green HTC logo really looked out of place, hence I decided to make my own version instead. At the same time, I've also recompiled the existing white version into the original format that the stock bootscreen was in (including boot2.gif).
I can't post previews because the forum is being a *****:
"To prevent spam to the forums, new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed."
I have attached both versions with/without sounds. Do note that these are only compatible with Heros that are still running on cupcake. If anyone would like to convert them into 2.1 formats, please go ahead. This is because I'm still on MCR 3.2 and won't be updating to 2.1 until MCR 4.0 is completed.
Credits:
RaiderX303 for the original white bootscreen, justinisyoung for the not-so-loud bootsound and phaelox for his SignApk script!

On VillainROM 12 i get to install it, but it still shows the villainrom bootscreen. Any ideas how could I get it working? Thanks!!
In order to use boot screens from 1.5 on 2.1 ROMs, you need to remove the current bootanimation.zip from the phone.
(On Villain ROMs, it is located in /system/customize/resource/ - others may vary)
Then flash the downloaded file; this puts the folder 'bootscreen' into /system/media/
If you want the original one with the little Android hiding behind 'HERO' download and flash the attachment below this post.

Despite what others say, the old (1.5) format bootscreens do work in 2.1, however, I'm yet to get the bootsound working.
Great work man, I love the 1.5 boot screen

But yeah i agreee the Quietly bootscrren looks out of place So this should look realy great
Not bad, pretty cool
I remembered I saw a orginal white bootscreen somewhere else.
Works awesome on the gratia port if you folow the instructions on post 4 its faster in boot, and the ugly boot animation is gone
Though the bootanimation.zip is not in the /system/resource part but in the /system/media folder, remove that and then flash the zip file

Lately I have been working with the Cronos Droid roms and themes but in the recent turn of events I wanted to contribute to the entire Hero community. So here is a new android boot animations which I think might be one of my best!
I will also try to specify the bootanimation.zip location on each rom but help is much appreciated.
Code:
[U][B]Bootanimation location on roms[/B][/U]
FroydVillain - /system/media
Cronos Froyo - /data/local
Cronos 2.1.x - /data/local
Hope you enjoy it and feedback is much appreciated.
Kind Regards

bootanimation.zip - 5.8 Mb
bootanimation.zip - 2.0 Mb
bootanimation update zip - 2.0 Mb (cudos elelinux)(For roms using /system/media as bootanimation.zip directory)
Awesome nice work
Great someone liked it!!! The short version works great on FroydVillain and I see no increase in boot time. Also looks great!

I will try the short version in my rom, my kernel boot quickly also
Edit:Made a update.zip for the 2mb bootanimation here > http://www.statusuppdateringskomplex.se/elelinux/Bootanimation_Android_Frost_2mb_by_Swiftwork.zip
Now I have replaced the update script, it deletes all the likely locations and types of the boot animation, even the boot animation which is located in /system/customize/resource.
Location for zip is /system/media

Hi, How do I revert back to the stock animation after this was applied?
Here's my first bootanimation and splash screen.
You can get my file here. (Sorry for let you wait. I couldn't upload my file on here.)
HOW-TO (BOOTANIMATION - bootanimation.zip) (KR_KT RUU ROM USER):
I don't know where other users should put it, But if you're Korean-KT version user,
use Root explorer to replace '/system/customize/resource/KT_bootanimation.zip' with my file. (CASE-SENSITIVE! You should rename it exactly same as original one.)
And change permission to rw-r--r--. (User:Read+Write, Group:Read, Others:Read)
HOW-TO (BOOTSPLASH - splash.bmp):
Connect DHD to your PC.
Run Android Flasher and check 'Splash'.
Click Begin and select my file.
You can get Android Flasher here.
(Thanks to developer of Android Flasher )
I hope you like it
If I have any writing mistake in this post, I'm sorry
I don't have good English skill.

You need to replace the original boot animation with this one using root explorer. The original can be found in system/media.
The splash file can be added using the android flasher.

i have tried using android flasher but still error..
can u show how to use it..blur
Turn USB Debugging on. And install HTC Sync and Driver.
Then Flash it with Android Flasher. (It's not recommended to flash bootanimation with Android Flasher. Just flash Splash screen with that.)
beautiful
Superb
Thanks
Couldn't get it to work on Inspire 4g .... Does not give any error nor any message on the phone.

Here it is, by request and after much delay on my part - the INCREDIBLE S version of my classy boot animation.
The full looping here is simply for presentation purposes. While the phone is actually booting, the spinner will spin infinitely until your ROM gets started up. Check the attachments for previews of all the colored versions.
Keep in mind I do not own an Incredible S, only an Incredible 2, so if any information here is inaccurate or something is different - please let me know so I can fix it. Other than that, let me know what you think!

Requirements
You just need root access to replace the stock bootanimation.zip with the download (whichever color you choose) here.
Instructions
1. Find your stock bootanimation.zip file. The location depends on the ROM but on AOSP this is usually "/system/media". On Sense it will normally be found in "/system/customize/resource". If it isn't in either, check "/data/local".
2. Rename the stock file to bootanimation.zip.bak (so you can revert if necessary) or simply overwrite it with the file downloaded from here.
3. Check the permissions of the new file. They should be set to ”rw-r--r--" as seen in this image.
4. Should be it. Reboot to see the magic happen.

If you replaced the correct file and used the correct permissions there should be no problem. On the other hand I've never heard of not booting up due to a boot animation change. I know it's been a while since you posted (I'm a Vivow user so I don't get over here much) but I was curious if you got it figured out. You probably reflashed or something since then. Let me know if you have further issues.
Good job bro! Nice post ! :good:
Hi all,
I made myself a new start-up splashscreen to celebrate the evermore stable Android 4.1 AOSP ROMs which are coming through at the moment, and I thought I’d share it with you.
Then I made a slight adjustment in anticipation of the imminent 4.2 release.
And then, as I had the graphics to hand, I made them into a wallpaper in case anyone would like it.
For those who believe that the HTC Incredible S now has a new lease of life with Jelly Bean, these are for you...
The Splash Screens look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
INSTRUCTIONS – S-OFF ONLY (sorry S-ON users!)
You must unzip the attached folders – they are not flashable in recovery! - the Splash Screen and wallpapers are in here too.
Get just the 'splash1.img' file from within the attached .zip and place it in your adb/fastboot tools folder on your PC (google it if you don’t know what this means.).
Then go to CMD prompt on your PC and set CD to the tools folder.
Connect your phone to your PC via USB.
Set your phone in ‘USB bootloader’ mode, then type in at CMD prompt on your PC:
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
Wait for the confirmation in CMD (takes less than a second normally).
And that’s it, job done! :fingers-crossed: Reboot to see it appear before the bootanimation.
EDIT: Added realigned wallpapers so the text isn't behind the buttons - see attached 'edited' zip for all originals repositioned!
If you want to revert back to the original white HTC Splash Screen at any point, please find it also attached. Follow the exact same instructions as above to install it.
Any tweaks or requests for variations of the above images ‘may be considered’ if, a) I understand what you want, b) I am physically capable of doing it (I’m no expert!), and c) if I get time!
Please use my files as required.
In case you wondered, I'll probably not do a new bootanimation as the standard CyanogenMod animation is and doesn’t need changing!
