I just bought an Imagio and will have it tomorrow. We need to get this forum rollin
im a big supporter of NFSFAN's roms after using his rom on my VZW TP and I hope he decides to whip something up for our phones !
Did anyone decide to give the mobile tv a shot? Looks like the kickstand on this phone was made for it
agree with the custom roms, man what do we need to get this goin? im really lookin foward to the coverflow on the new version of tf3d, oh and mobile tv works really well just needs more variety...
I just got mine this morning and am already having flash anxiety. I am used to flash my own cooked omnia roms with close to nothing on them. there is so much stuff on this phone that i don't want, thanks VZW.
So if we are able to get a Hard spl unlock we should be able to use any topaz kitchen as long as we use our OEM right?

LOL I know what you mean. I haven't even finished cleaning up from unboxing, don't have all my traditional apps on and tested yet and I stop by to see what's cooking in the kitchens already!
I am looking forward to using the phone though. I already seems much better than my Touch Pro.
Ditto here, I just ordered the Imagio today, and already wanted to see what was going on with ROMs lol.
I am wondering if anyone has contacted cmonex on weather or not she has considered helping us out with the HSPL. I am getting my phone in the Morning and I really hope we dont have to wait long. I will be around to help out with what ever I can.

There is a HardSPL placeholder thread now.
tethering to laptop
Hey all! Anyone know if/how you can tether to a laptop for use as a modem.. Kinda need it..
Imagio can tether
Yup, works great tethered, just go get PdaNet from June Fabics dot com.
Lets, go.
We desperately need to kick it up a few notches. Although I love my imagio there are so many good devices coming out that we need software and features fast. We have an ass load of potential we need this hspl so desperately I hope its coming along. I will donate the hell out of good developers.
Some things I've been thinking of.
We need to make this bad boy use motion commands, implement g-trigger or something similar cooked in.
We need to implement TFLO 3D Build 1920 and tweak it to run fast.
We need the a rom that runs stock, with only tflo running, to be at less than 40% of resources.
We need to be able to read and use 32gb storage cards.

haha.. well said!! it's weird because i don't ever remember a hspl taking this long.. is it because there's something new with the imagio? like some new technology that nobody's worked with yet??
Well, according to another user somewhere that contacted HTC they said that it was a unique device to Verizon so it could be that some time is needed before they can get this one hacked.

Yeah, I'm sure!
Yes, we need it. But what we can do is waitting
Well the folks at pccgeeks have posted instructions to unlock the CDMA Touch Pro 2... My understanding is that the Imagio is a "variant" of the CDMA TP2... maybe we'll see a ROM and SIM unlock for the Imagio in the not too distant future.
I'm sure when sprint gets the diamond2 (whitestone) hspl will come very shortly after. Should be next month, thought it might be November 1st, but I haven't heard anything. But is guaranteed to be here within Q4 this year.
For the 18 millionth time, the Whitestone is not the Topaz (Diamond2)!

why 18, kebero??
no. I realize that but according to phone arena and a local sprint rep their diamond 2 is the whitestone. so chill.

I have heard that she is working on it as we speak and should have something in a reasonably short time.
I have installed the SDK and Eclipse. I have created an AVD and run through the little tutorial. I can start the emulator using the (windows) command line. How do I run a "cooked" ROM in the emulator? If there is a better place to post this question, please let me know. I am particularly interested in the Hero (CDMA, Sprint).
The sdk emulator emulates an older ARMv5. I for one don't think it's very practical for developing custom roms on but it has been done before. I remember hearing a couple people saying they had Sense UI running on it. Cool but kind of pointless if you ask me. Anyways:
http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/emulator.html
has just about all the info you'll need to do it.
Speaking of emulators. I merged zen and emulator to get my name zenulator back when I messed around with console emulators for the ps1 and dreamcast. Before android took over
Zenulator,
Thanks for responding. That's exactly the page I was using. Can I simply replace userdata.img with the boot.img from the ROM? I'm just curious to see what the various ROM's will look and act like. (I do not yet have a smartphone; I've got a stupid one. My wife promised my a new phone when she upgrades hers, and the Hero looks really good to me.)

Ah I see. I'd get the evo if your planning on buying a new smart phone.
Also no you cant just swap out parts from the roms postrd in the forums since the emulator runs off a yaffs system image and also it doesn't run a boot.img. It uses a separate kernel and ramdisk.
Zenulator,
Thanks again, particularly for preventing me from wasting my time over an impossible task. One cannot help lusting over the EVO. However, I carry my phone in my pocket, and the EVO might be a bit too big for that. Furthermore, I don't really use a phone all that much, so it's hard to justify the extra expense. I have suggested to my wife that she get one.
Are there any other emulators or virtualization techniques I might use to display a ROM's function on a computer monitor? Do those guys who create the ROMs simply try them out on their own phones, or do they have software which will allow them to first test their creations on the computer? I fiddle with Linux, and have used VMWare under Windows and Linux. Took a stab at Zen once, but didn't have the right hardware.
just an idea.. It wouldnt be hands on but you could youtube the different roms and see what they look like

Aw man, you would sooo use your phone 300x more if you had a smart phone of any kind, though I'm partial to Android ; ) . I can't remember what i did before my first BB.... Ahhhhh the memories.
Easily justifiable expense. LOL

I used my phone like 20 minutes total throughout the day when I had a dumbphone.
My Hero gets used and abused hours each day.
You all are preaching to the choir! I want a new phone so bad that I can taste it. I've been scouring the forums, learning as much as I can, and I can hardly wait. The Hero looks just right for me, and I'm really looking forward to using an open file system. It looks like Sprint will be dropping the Hero soon (price is going down) and replacing it with a "Hero 2," apparently essentially the same thing as the htc Legend. We'll see. Anyone heard any other news?
I probably play more on my phone than I text or talk, but don't regret paying $25 more a month than I was with MetroPCS. I can't see myself paying nearly $100 a month just for the Evo as I am on a plan by myself.
This is not completly on topic, but there is the Android OS for computers. You think I could take the kernal and ramdisk, etc from the Hero and swap it out with the ones from the Android OS

&RoidRage,
Thanks for the link. I followed it out and downloaded the complete iso. I will look inside it and play with it, maybe live, maybe virtualized. It might be fun to see if some components can be swapped out, though I doubt it will work.
Dual processors running at 1.5 GHz seems overkill for a cell phone, but then, that's why we're here.
Hi all
I'm trying to load a ROM into the emulator, how can I do that ?

seriously, my dumbphone was on like 20 minutes a day
and my hero is overused easily (especially in class)
how i run roms that dont have the system.img ?
i have the DX and somewhat knowledgeable about ROMs and perks of each. unfortunately i am not too sure how the D1 and different ROMS would work since the radio is on Metro vs the standard Verizon that this phone is built on.
so my question is, which ROMs will work for her phone. also, will i be able to install any ROM i want without loosing the flash to Metro that i had to pay for and drive an hour out of town to get done?
this is my only concern is that whatever i install will break the flash and i do NOT want to screw this up.
i am seeing a lot of Camera application freezes and becoming a nucence. would it be just as easy to reinstall the Camera apk or is installing a different ROM even an option?
thanks for your support guys and gals. . . cheers
i say still try and root, flash a rom. i just flashed cy 6.1.2 stable. and i am going tomorrow to get metro flashed. but i say flash it cause you can allways re flash the stock .sbf and move on wit no problems.
but also did u flash metro or did you go pay to get it done. cause im tryna figure out how to do it myself. cause those guys had to learn it somewhere you feel me. so if you kno how please shoot me the steps so i can do mine. thanks in advance bro and hope you get it flashed.
i paid 50 bucks to get it done. at that price, why not. plus i have no time with a 5 month old baby. seems to be running ok though.
here is a link someone sent me that might help you out...
just asking, why do you think you can sbf it and re root and install custom ROM and it will still work on Metro? when you flash a phone to work on this provider, dont you change a bunch of things on the phone in order to make it work? i dont know how to do any of that and if i screwed up this phone and the wife was without it, she would flip out. i am sure you can appreciate that.
with that said, i would like to know if reinstalling the camera.apk would fix any problems.
maybe i will install Launcher Pro tonight for her vs ADW and see what happens. this isnt going to change the way the phone works.. only the way it looks.
just called some random person on Craigslist and they said there is only a few ROM's out there that will work with the Metro PCS.
is this true?
i would love to get her off this ROM, she has called me 3 times today complaining about the freezing and rebooting randomly. i would be upset too..
a little help please.
Any Chance or any way to port this rom in the cdma hero? , if its possible on the Mytouch 3G? it could be possible to port it on the Hero right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025330
Well since the specs are all similar I would have to assume it would be possible. PM thoughtlesskyle as he is the best porter here. I will try to learn how to port and work on it but it could be very difficult because the htc drivers are different then other ones and because i have never done anything like it before lol . I would surely hope this is possible though because I would love life again. It would probably make me **** out sunshine and piss double rainbows if it happened. Thank you for sharing this with us though.
Actualy after investigation , I realize it is difficult to port a gsm rom to cdma. I frankly do not know anything about how to do it. The person who was the absolute best at that but has now left us was zenulator. Id ask as many devs as you can on how to do it, etc. It could take quite a while. A while back there was a thread on this (it ended in april) and it was not going well. I hope it works better this time.
Sorry to post again lol but i looked up some more about the radio issues and apparently there is an app on the market called network that allows you to choose the cdma radio instead of the gsm radio when you boot (although you gotta do it every time you boot) otherwise the phone would always look for gsm radio service and it would kill your battery. Other then that though this should be possible.
thoughtless kyle and tazz has already been working on that for a couple months now and its very stable
Yes, it's pretty much been done already bierce said. And in.all actuality, it's amazing that it got this far. If that's what you want, check sensible salsa out.

I am correct in saying that you are talking about Sensible Test Build, Gingersense, etc? Because if so i can never boot that rom lol no matter what i try that is the only rom i can not load up. I will try some other stuff to try and get it going but will you post screenshots so i can see what it looks like? Im sure it looks great although i do have a few questions; A, does it have htc hub; B, does it play nice with firerats partitions; and C, does it smooth or does it seem laggy at times? Thanks

reflash your recovery, wipe all, flash - I had problems booting UNTIL the recovery was reflashed.
A=yes
B=yes
C=yes and yes

Hi, I have a old G1 that's just gathering dust.
Its been rooted and running one of the Super D ROMS. (Haven't used it since I got a Desire)
Basically I've gotten fed up trying play SNES ROMS etc on a touch screen phone and remember how much easier it was on the G1 keyboard.
As its only going to be used for running games from the SD card.
Can anyone recommended or create a minimalistic ROM for this purpose.
Also, would I need to have a Sim card in the phone?
no need for a sim card, but you may wont the ram hack (2708+) i would imagine that might be better. you would want a basic rom maybe even a cupcake (not sure why but this sounds right) find the best kernel to flash over it, check ezterry's kernel thread. then use titanium backup or something similar to take out just about everything you can that could possibly run so that it wont interfere with your gaming. truthfully a lot of newer roms may work well for you as long as you just remove a lot of things that arent need to play your games - hopefully someone will come on here and steer you a bit closer.
check out this link for an idea of what you can remove from a rom and be safe
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Barebones
also depending on the rom maybe do one that asks to install gapps separate and dont do it...
No, cupcake doesn't have a 2708+ kernel for it...
Well...it does sorta...but it barely works and doesn't do much IIRC
Try froyobylaszlo
you'll need the 2708+ radio and spl
Use my mod of it, Frayo, and you can customize what system apps it flashes
So just put 0 for all of them in the install.txt (you'll know what im talking about when you find the rom)
Once you have the 2708+ radio/spl just flash frayo and that's it! gapps included.
And no it's not just cuz its my mod xD...froyobylaszlo is crazy fast, and once you remove system apps its even faster, and frayo can help you not install them in the first place
good call and the frayo, that would make it easier
im not sure why i feel cupcake would be better, no idea why but it sounds good
if you flash the right kernel over a cupcake rom it should work with the 2708+
but probably would get more speed in frayo with bare system apps, and you can take out a few more too
Cheers for the advice.
Its been a long time since I read about G1 updates so I've got some catching up to do.
Is there a walk through for this ram hack?
Last thing I did to my G1 was install Super D a long time ago.

Not really
There's a guide, but you gotta be familiar with fastboot to use it
Or you can find a topic called "upgrading to gingerbread" by gunner*numbers*
We walked him through it
You'll have to dig through the topic to find it though
