Thank you for this effort

No, it doesn't work on D/S devices. As far as I remember, it requires an ARMv7 and newer processors - on our ARMv6 it will not work because of it's requirements. I'd recommend to ask Google if you want more information.
The search function is good also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769076&highlight=google+earth
Google Earth has been discussed on the thread.

FM Transmitter - how to get it?

Hello Folks,
I am searching the forum and the web but I do not get anywhere with my question:
Now I know the FRYO does not have FM Transmitter support, is there any other ROM or any way to get the tansmitter to work?
Thanks a lot for all your help and to the guys making the FROYO availale!
Cheers!

It has not been implemented, and someone would have to create the drivers needed to activate it, so you not gonna see that feature if at all.
Mods will move this to question and answer forum in 3-2-1....
If you have a motor cliq you can use handler rom from functional radio apk.
I'm actually suprised nobody gas taken the motor driver and at least derived a conceptual driver format or something.
Then again, if I searched the forums before asking I would probably find out why that isn't going to work as a starting block.
Want a free 2gb dropbox that syncs to your Android?

During I/O one of the google engineers suggested the easiest way to get fm radio is to pull the drives off the incredible, and piece it together.
What a pity - I really thought this would be something which comes out soon - well I think I am wrong. Maybe I am a minor thinking this is a real cool feature...
Thanks a lot for the replies - as I am not a software engineer I will have to wait.
Cheers!

Porting Apple app : AVIC Feeds

Hey
Is there any way known to mankind, to port an Apple (iPhone/iTouch) app to "the better OS", Android?
I am looking for this app to run on the android and interacts with my Pioneer NAV....
Any ideas or places to start?
Thanks
Different languages. You would have to completely remake the app.
or write a wrapper around it. Not that i think it'll be possible like that...
thanks.....
Thanks guys - appreciated.
...Or contact the supplier (Pioneer). Which I did and they "will look into it" - Yeah right!

Hah they wish...Android will rise and take over! >:O lol
blackberry version
They've released a Blackberry version of the AVIC feeds which would be written in Java so a port shouldn't be all that hard.
Thanks......

That is a good catch. Although I think the code would be licensed to Pioneer - but as least we know it could be done.....(but who would know, right....shhhhhh)
Now if I can just get a developer on it - I'm a few things, but not that....
Anybody interested to help with this?
x2 on the avic feeds for droid. would love to have this on my hd2 which is better than any iphone imho! even if it were a windows app but now that i have jumped on the droid wagon how badass would that be!
Any word on this? I would love to have this functioning! Got a Z110bt with the Z120bt software\bluetooth update and love it.
AVIC FEEDS for Windows Phone
I was able to write a version of AVIC FEEDS for Windows Phone. It turned out to be pretty easy. You simply create a contact with the GPS coordinates in the name using Pioneer's special encoding. Then the contacts are synced via Bluetooth and you can click on them on the head unit to start directions.
Does anyone have the need for a Windows Phone version? I can send out a link to beta testers and if I get enough interest I can publish it on the marketplace.
I don't know anything about developing for Android but if anyone else does, I can help with the logistics of how the app needs to work in order to function with the Pioneer head unit.
It would be awesome if someone ported the app to android. Hope a Dev has an interest in it?
I have gone ahead and published the app. I can't post a link to it because I'm new but you can search for "AVIC FEEDS" in the Windows Phone Marketplace.
Hopefully an Android dev out there can check out my source code and port it as well.
any uopdates on this?

[Q] Bitbop beta?

well i've been searching around n found no answer. is there any way to get involved in this beta? or is it like a closed press only type of beta? i have seen many videos on it n i just wanna get my hands on it! of course since its probably against the rules to post the direct apk, anyone know how to get in on this or is it strictly closed? also....if you have the actual beta, no harm in DMing me the apk
bitbop beta
Hi, letting you know that the beta is associated with specific accounts so even if you have the apk file you will not be able to use the app without a valid Bitbop account. Please follow us on twitter twitter.com/bitbop and contact me at beta at bitbop dot com and we can get you set up. Thanks Paula
Paula,
I signed up for the BitBop service now that it is released but saw that there is no tablet support. I have sent customer service an email about it but have not heard back. I was able to load the app for my phone (Droid X) but would really prefer to use the app on my tablet (Viewsonic G Tablet - running VEGAn 1.0 beta 5.1 - froyo) since it has a much bigger screen. I see this is an old thread but was hoping you would still get this post.
Hi sjmoreno, I am sorry, at this time we do not support your Viewsonic G Tablet. Let me know if I can help you with anything else, thanks Paula
Thanks Paula for the response. Can you tell me if your company is planning on supporting tablets in the future and if so what type of timeline and devices?

If people aren't interested then this thread will sink and disappear. If you bump it then I'll close it and it'll definitely go then!
yeah, i'm pretty much aware of that...the thing is, i don't really think much people know of this and it would benefit hundreds of devices...(most devices on xda are arm v6, so this would improve all of them, especially make ics work completely)
also, there's no need to post here at all, even if you signed the petition..that's why it seems that no one is interested (although more 100 signatures have been gathered since yesterday...so i wouldn't say no one is interested)
Sign me in!
thank you
I totally support it! (unintentional bump )
fa : the petition is invalid!
we need the compiled openmax codecs for armv6 from quallcomm , not ARM
the ones for gingerbread dont work no more because they are a lower api lvl
ARM already replied saying that we need to contact quallcomm
use this link:

mod please close this thread and link people to here

if we could only use all those existing signatures...

New to the community & Android development. Please direct me in the right direction.
Hello, I'm new to the Android community. I have prior programming experience and I have made apps through Unity and have successfully published them on the Google Play store and competing app stores. I decided that I want to write native Android apps.... so here I am.
The problem:
I want to create a very simple app. It is a simple messaging app, just like the messaging in Snapchat. It is not like other text messaging apps where you are given a number and you can text anyone you want, even if they don't have the app. That is not my goal.
1. You must have the app
2. You do not get a new number. You get to choose a new username only.
This is the goal of the app. The question is... what libraries and APIs do I have to use? Are there any good tutorials on this subject? And the most important question is, would I have to buy any servers or something? Do I have to spend any money for this to work or can this work with the user's cell connection? I don't want to purchase anything / servers. Is this possible?
I'm sorry for the lack of knowledge, but I am aiming to improve myself! Thank you very much for the read.
Hello,
Messaging infrastructure needs a server to centralize users accounts, messages and users status.
You can find low cost VPS servers, but it's not free.
Sincerely.
Here, this one mcould help u http://djangostars.com/blog/app-development-cost-android-vs-ios/ . They've gor both ios and android review, so u should read only one part)
