Text smear? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It is hard to explain really, but when I am reading a forum or something with a lot of text in a column and there is white space right next to it. I could see many faint black lines each one corresponding to each line of text next to it on my Nexus One Screen.
Does anyone have this problem is this related at all to the nexus one resolution "cheating"? and the pixel color is not distributed evenly? It is a minor problem, but it got me puzzled.

We've all got it, been discussed a few times.

Oh I just ran accross this,
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=6737
so that answer my question I think, if you guys see this, please post it on there as well for google to fix it (probably never, but so they are at the least aware).
Sorry Rusty, didn't see your post before posting.

Any thoughts on Manilla?

Evidently there is a new TouchFlo operating environment coming from HTC. Anybody knows anything about it? There is considerable detail on BoyGenius and it refers to the url shown below:
http://htcinsider.blogspot.com/2008/01/manila-arrives.html
There is also another site with more details:

Amazing, all these people using iruja's screen shots (from TWO days ago I might add) and not even so much as to link back to the post.
Interestingly, I searched the forum for the word Manilla before I posted the thread and it found nothing. In retrospect, I realize that it probably searched only the Kaiser/Kaiser part and not the whole Kaiser, which I thought it was searching. I apologize for the duplication in the information.

Stupid Sound.

I don't know what I did, but everytime I press the red end button it makes a really loud beep sound..it only happens when the phone isnt on vibrate or silent...any ideas?
*The following is not intended as a flame. I just want any junior members reading this that may be unfamiliar with the search process to see how easy this was*
By using the Google site search and typing "kaiser end key loud beep", I got a few interesting results. The link below leads to the Hermes forum, but it appears to be the same issue you are experiencing. Maybe the solution listed for it will fix your problem. Good luck.

Sorry, I thought this was a issue that only happened to me I would of never thought to search.

Nothing meant towards you. I only started with that sentence to show the power of Google. I was quite shocked myself when the search produced some relevant hits.
If it makes you feel any better, you're the first person with a Kaiser to report this issue...
haha, i feel alittle better...Its fixed btw, thanks alot for the link

Email notification problem

Hi I wonder if any one can help with a email notification problem on my Tytn 2?
I have set up my device to pick up emails from a pop account. The schedule is set every 10 minutes.
The problem I have is sometimes my device does not wake up and give me a any notification. (no sound or on screen notification bubble).
When occasionally it does work I only get a sound and vibration. The screen does not light up at all. I have noticed when I power up the device I get the notification within a few seconds.
I have done several hard resets.
Any suggestions?
Thanks to all in advance.
you need to search, read all faqs about the subject, check the wiki and gweni.this has been discussed numerous times so please don't be lazy and ask to be spoonfed on something so popular to find
cold and sterile response to noobs
Hi diatheskin,
I took you up on your suggestion and looked through the areas you kindly pointed out over the last 9 -10 hours.
I could not find anything specifically related to the problem I am experiencing, as mentioned in my previous post.
If you or any other members could kind-heartedly give me a prod in the right direction I don’t mind at all taking time out to sift through the info.
I hope you don’t consider giving general pointers in the right direction as spoon feeding too.
Or is it a general practice for senior members of this forum to treat new members with such a cold and sterile response first of ?
Remember we were all Noobs once.
Ditto on the solution!!
exabyte , I have to agree,, I have also been searching for a solution to my email prob's,, and found little to address them,,, many similar but nothing that fixes my issue,,,
Revolt, give Noob's a break!!!

I agree, the only time I tell people to search is when there is a definite answer available. However, a majority of the time a solution exists.
To the OP: I have not personally experienced this issue and I hope you find a solution. Please report back to this thread if you find a fix.

Sending Video

Hello everyone! I've searched but can't find a solution to this:
I am on the AT&T Network along with most of my friends. Today, I tried to send a VIDEO to a friend with a Treo 650. He only received a black screen. Is this a problem with my device or his? He's got the stock Treo 650. I thought that it may have been a file type that he can't get.
Any help?
I hate to say this again as it bores me...

As I pondered whether or not to grant visibility to this statement, I've concluded that I should provide a teaching moment.
1. Being dishonest is one thing that really displays true character. Hence, if saying something is something you HATE and is boring; then WHY say it? It is not neccessary.
2. To seemingly apologize for obviously intending to be short and brash, is less than necessary, especially when there's a realization of your being short and brash BEFORE you type the message. There was no afterthough following sending the message, and following up with an apology. You had an opportunity to NOT be short OR brash.
3. My senior membership must be predicated on membership longevity or something similar thereof, for it is definitely not indicative of any extensive knowledge of posting in very many forums, and automatic knowledge of where each any every post content belongs. In any of my postings, I have NEVER had a post moved. So, apparently I'm not as inept as you may feel. My thought was, that my current situation was maybe ROM related since this is a cooked ROM. THAT'S why I posted here. TO GAIN DIRECTION.
You have provided comments, but no direction. Therefore you've added NO value AT ALL. So your post is merely to satisfy some personal accomplishment, or to create some activity with a window of time you know not what to do with.
My apologies to any MODS for accidentally looking for help in the wrong forum. At least I hoped to be directed to the appropriate destination to either POST, RECEIVE HELP, or BOTH.

i don't ponder i reckon!!! lol, and i reckon i didn't know treo 650's were still around, that was my first touch screen phone, and it had ALOT of video playback problems, so it very well could be, may also be a loss in data during the sending over the network. i reckon you should try to bt your vid to your friend and see if that works.

LOL!!! And it was my first touch-screen device as well! But my friend just LOVES that device! I can't get'em to part with it. But THANK YOU for the bluetooth idea. I'll be sure to try that if we're ever in the same area. I'm in Indiana, and he's in Virginia. So BT isn't an option. But I'm hoping to get some ideas here.
Thanks again for positive feedback.

This post didn't add much value either .. the pot calling the kettle black? hmm?
How about you send something from that 650 to another phone and see what happens.
Is it even on the same network as you are?

And we've just added your post to that statement. Already tried that. Works fine in that direction. Just NOT from the Tilt to the Treo.
How about to another treo 650 or any of the other palm OS ones?
Is it still playable as in does the video move yet it is black? If so then it's lack of codec support.....
Even if it doesn't move i'd still edge my bets on "old" technology with a newer video format "codec" being the issue.
"In response to your long satirical post maybe i responded in boredom to the boredom of the boredomous post in the incorect sub forum, don't worry your not the only one , oh and if it was ROM related then you should have posted in the ROM thread"
Yes i am just joshin with ya

Yes, black picture with 3 other Treos. I posted in the Phoenix private beta thread and didn't get a response.
So, I guess I'll follow up with my partners and ask if they can update their codecs. I was hoping that I could send in a different format that they can view.

If they install a Video player like TCPMP the they should be fine.
Another way would be for you to convert the video on computer to another format, ask what format video's they can play SUPER ©

Camera is garbage!?!?

I've been using Myn's Warm Donut for the past week and all in all, it's a great build. My only complaint is that the camera picture quality is terrible. I've tried using the slider to increase the picture quality, which does help, but is nowhere near the quality of pictures taken on NFSFan's windows mobile 6.5 ROM. At it's highest setting, there are lines and noise throughout the image and a very visible horizontal line about 1/4 up from the bottom of the picture. Is anyone else having this problem?

So the volume control, when the camera is up controls the exposure I am pretty sure. But yeah camera is not the best in android, I attached some pics at the different exposure settings. I see a line too.
Yep that's right about where my images are...same here

It's probably because you presume people don't know how to use a simple search feature, while contributing absolutely nothing to the discussion... but that's just a guess

if people knew how to search and actually spent more than 2 seconds looking then this forum would be alot cleaner. and this discussion has already been discussed, thank you

Because repeating yourself over and over without actually adding to the discussion or attempting to help comes across as pointless.
Searching before posting is the first rule in the rules thread. Different searched yield different results, and some people may not know the proper terminology to find their answer.
Think about it this way: Say you searched, didn't find your answer, regardless of whether or not it was out there. Since you were unable to find it, you post your question. Someone replied, and you got hopeful that maybe an answer had presented itself since your search tactics were not effective. You go to the reply and all they said was "you should probably search for it." This can be frustrating because 1) you already did that, and 2) instead of going further and trying to help you, the person replying left you exactly where you were before, but wasted your time and frustrated you in the process.
I would recommend you stop telling everyone to search unless you yourself can help them find their answer in the same post.
malice9999, I have also had the camera issue (on multiple builds), but I hardly use it so it was never worth mentioning. However, this question may have been better served in the thread for the build in question.

if you have a question that involves one of the roms then its best to ask that question in that thread instead of making new threads to take up space. ive been chewed out for posting threads that have already been asked but when i simply tell someone to search im the bad guy???? this forum and the people in it are starting to get out of controll with asking the same questions over and over and over and people getting an attitude. if somebody is not helpfull then ignore that post. there is no need to get an attitude, it will just create a problem.
Malice9999, as I understand it the camera for the Vogue is not fully implemented in Android as of yet but people are working on it. It doesn't work too great in any of the Android builds, but hopefully soon.
Personally I always thought the camera on teh Vogue was next to worthless anyways..
THis thread has been discussed elsewhere and there has been enough flaming in this thread, hence it is now closed.
Happy Easter if you follow that trend
