Hi Guys,
This is not a ROM/Kernal or some tweaks.
Just purely discussing and sharing some reviews abt current ROM's.
I hope this thread will help for some dummies, or for some who required Stable or Fater & Smoother or much great look ROM's.
This is purely my personal Experiance.. Im not commenting on any one's ROM just sharing few thoughts with you guys..
Correct me if i was wrong, and sorry if i unknowingly hurts anybody's feeling.
First of all thanks to our SGS ROM Developers where they are working nites for latest ROM's updated tweaks or kernals.. simply million thanks to them.. else we should have only SAM's deafult firmware.
Coming to my point,i purchased my SGS I9000 n dec 2010.
Previously i dont have any idea of ROM neither XDA nor anything.
When i googled for info on SGS then i found link to DARKYROM, there i got links to XDA.
FOA i would like to thak Darky as i started to flash Custom ROM after i read the whole story posted on his Darky 9.2 stable version, he included almost every thing like which a new guy can easily understand.
9.2 Darky ROM really rocks. Then i moved to DOC's thread,
oh man here u can cook ur own stuff... u ll get here any ROM/CSC/MODEM... this is purely awesome like a supermarket .
Then Juwe's/ultimate & Sweet honey.. these guys are nite raiders always go for newest and experiantal but they ll never let you down.
last but not least Serendity ROM(currently where my journey paused for a while), superb ROM with ultimate fast.
SO my obs are
darky:- if you want Stable Release and want to stay for long time this is best ROM i get.
DOC:- here u c all ROM's and all varieties till last date, you will really confuse which ROM/CSC/Modem version u should go,
I found Serendity is my choice where u will get excellent Faster smoother and Stable and less battery drain if you are with JPY Modem. I mean without any tweaks or some bla .. bla... Just simply install and sit back and enjoy Perfect ROM for daily use.
Once again im telling tht im not Judging any ROM here, just want to Share some views of mine on various ROM's.
2.3.2 is out but lot of FC's going currently no stable yet, i suggest wait for some Darky's/DOC's Stable Release.
I found (ROM) GingerCriskelo for 2.3.2 is bit smoother and less FC's (if anybody want to try 2.3.2).

Same for me + yes serendipity a big discover but it's not late!....2.3.2 will coming.....!!!!

None of them. Especially those roms entitled "super", "mind blowing", "extremely fast", "ultimately stable", etc.
A real cooker never needs to use such words

What abt Darky/Doc/Serendipty ... they never quoted any such comments on their posts... i havent seen yet ... hav u...!!!

I meant that when I see a cooker that uses such fancy words, I just ignore their roms. I used online rom generator to build a rom that close to the stock rom.

dud.. dud.. hold on.. im telling u again.. im not judging these(or any ROM's) nor commenting just want to share some reviews/thoughts of mine.. please take it low.. just share ur thoughts if any otherwsie dont just play ur words abt any ROM u feel online is better just say that simply.. instead of criticising other ROM's.. we are lucky to have these developers.. if u want u can create ur own Custome ROM with ur thoughts.. i hope u understood.

Guys i just flashed Insanity 0.6.7, way gud.. one should try.. just like Tricky very lite but look wise impressed with gud tweaks..

I have been on darky's for a little bit now (since early v8) and its been really, really nice. but now i seem to have cought the bug, and i just want to flash all the different roms out there and see whats out there. tomorrow I'm off to the land of cm7, then maybe miuiand then some of the roms here will be my next stops, i guess i'll report back with my findings

I am on Juwe 1.9 and it works great. Just waiting to see battery life, everything else I am satisfied.
Also when I had a HTC Desire, I was on MUIU and its was defenatly best custom ROM.

Guys im currently using 2.2.1 Froyo XWJS8 its quite quick but freezes too much.
I just wanted to know of experience which is the fastest rom to use which uses little battery power. I was looking at Darkys rom but theres too many out there to choose from. I just want something really stable and quick all round especially the browser.
Any comments would be great.

Try Juwe11 rom, positive reviews so far. Just make sure you have the 3 button download / recovery mode before flashing.

darky's resurrection is a no brainer as a start(then u can update with cwm to his latest) i used his rom (now cm7)
it is stable and great support

do a search for thread starter Juwe11 over at the andriod development. I'm using mobile app now, sorry.
I never use Darkyy or Doc rom. Either i cook myself, or others.

what do you mean? darky's resurrection is a odin rom it is based on 9.2 it is easy to use (it will wipe your device btw.) because you almost can't do it wrong and then you can make an easy 9.5 upgrade

Might give it a whirl and see how they both go, i use my phone a lot and notice the problems about 2 hours after use.

Brilliant odin is the way to go, have you got a link for the 9.2 version mate? will update when i get home.

just search all of darky's thread you will find resurrection edition
if you have freezes you should try it with a lagfix then (voodoo ext4 in darky)

ok will give it a go, ill try Darkys as i dont really want any buggy roms i cant be dealing with that,although upgrading doesnt take long its a pain when you got 2 kids running around lol. XWJS8 is crap :/

there is no definition of a best rom. there are many roms which are available for the sgs based on the different bases. the latest being js8. for me docs rom and darkys rom are the 2 best roms available out there,but there is not much of a differnce in between them..itz like 19-20. bt i have been using darkys rom for a while and i must say the latest v 9.5 is pretty stable and the best going on at this point of time. i recomend u to use dat rom.itz the fastets out there!

Thanks mate, i like the gingerbread theme he has added also and the unlock screen looks good. wander if theres a circle battery mod for it.

I will give you an easy way to check a rom .
These pages and Q& A pages scroll through few dozen of the initial posts note the rom that broke the OPs phone after reading about twenty or thirty posts you will find one name crops up time after time after time . Coincidence or just a bad rom i leave that up to you .

Hah iv read so many and so many different things and found a few that are good, its just i dont want to find out by installing all of them.

The one you are thinking of has multiple broke my phone /help posts .
Either rushed bad roms or hundreds of numptys use that rom for some reason .
Your choice .

Hi Im using darkys 9.3... with voodoo v5 lag fix... it works perfect for me.....but u need to find resurrection edition of 9.2 then upgarde using cwm....

[Q] Help with Chocobread v1.2 :I

I installed Chocobread v1.2 by flowish in my Galaxy Mini and is awesome
but I have one problem, the wifi don't work in my Phone
( Every time I start the WiFi the phone freeze and restart )
after in WiFi settings mark Error.
I don't know how to fix.
Could someone help me please?

just try to reflash the ROM

The maker of the ROM is totally a beginner. I dont think you should be flashing ROMs just like that. IMO

i would suggest u try another rom as there are many good roms for mini available like cm7, emanon v3 etc........

Try typing *#*#526#*#* in dialler... there is a chance it'll work...

this is also a good custom rom
"Simple, Minimalist, Stable and Powerful rom"
it is difficult to say whether it is better than other custom roms or not since it is a matter of personal preference (i might like this while i might like another)

Chocobread
Chocobread have more bugs,... and wifi dont work for me too, but I fixed it, ... just extract ChocobreadROM, and go to system, wifi and replace it with cyanogen 7.1.0 wifi... it works for me , than Add to archive and install it in clock word mode, ... If I helped u , press Thanks button
PS: ... Andro-id, transformers, or Cyanogen is better than choco

Cm vs Emanon

hi all
i opening this thread with lots of expectations that i will get what i want
i know there are lots of great folks here from the different walks of life who can guide me...
i,m currently using gingerbread 2.3.6
and i don,t wanna live with gingerbread anymore
i tried flashing cm some version i don,t know it was success but i had to face Gapps problem... i could have sorted that out but with lack of time i did not attempted it..
with out making long anymore i,ll come to the point
i know cm is great rom. but i also heard emanon is also very stable and fast rom..
i,m asking all the great folks to tell me what is right and what is wrong..
mini.. should i have cm or emanon..
if any of the great man using cm or emanon please tell me how it,s working.
did u face any problems,? if yes.. what are they, did u had solution..
please provide me the links to rom and the gapps
and also the link to tutorial how it,s done.. and troubleshoot link as well
my expectation are very high from all of you..
please help me!!!!

CM is for complete custamization nd extra features (rc5.7 by squad ) but with less battery life ( except rc5.3 by squad and rc1 by mebitek )..
similarly emanon is for battery and performance ( V5 ) but with less customization...
So its just a matter of choice..use both the roms nd knw the difference.

my advice.. try all the ROMS here LOL.. we have lots of developers who are kind enough to expand the usage of our MINI phone hahaha
that's what i did and finally get the exact ROM for me

It Depends on the taste of the person...
For example, at the beggining of the "Rom's World" I used EmanoN v3 because it was pretty fast and saved my battery life a Lot! But at time goes by, I got bored of the EmanoN and then I installed CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC 5.3 (at first was 5.2 but then the Update came) and I loved it. It brings you a lot of tweaks and useful tool (besides of the Theme Chooser). For the Gapps, the only thing that I did was to flash the gapps from the Recovery.
Of course, *le wild new version of this CM7 appeared! RC 5.4 -> 5.5 -> 5.6 -> 5.7... and I tried all of them except for the 5.7. (RC 5.7 -> Forever Alone in my mind) and I still use the 5.3 ( *le wild 5.4, 5.5 & 5.6 says: ok u.u) because I liked more the 5.3 and didn't like some of the changes in the later updates. (*le wild RC 5.3 says: So Much Win ).
So.. as gboy2011 says, Try all the ROMs that you like, but FIRST! use CWM to make a backup of your current and safe state of your phone.
You need to explore the "ROM's World" o.o but do not explore it without your CWM backup, or you'll be like a hunter trying to explore a Dangerous jungle with a stick as a weapon

I just came to CM from stock 2.3.6, never used any other ROM but CM. I got a little bit traumatized because the first time I flashed CM, I did some stupid things and got boot looping LOL so I went back to stock ROM, got bored again and decided to reflash CM. Everything went fine(thanks yagya) and now I am in love with this ROM.
Never used another but CM because for me, customization is the biggest factor for me to use it. I simply love to customize, and CM offers beautiful and awesome themes, a LOT of new options that makes me proud of my little galaxy. Changing CM7? Just for CM9 . But of course it depends on the person and its tastes

You should try yourself to experience both benefit on your own. Simply asking don't provide clearer picture. Both also have their own features. If your intention more to customize, cm is better. emnon for more on performance. Interface also different. You need try out yourself which fit for you. You will more understand if you do your own research.

[Q] Rom comparsion?

Hi all,
I am a new guy to custom ROM. I just try CM7. Good but there still something important to me are needed to be fixed. I saw there plenty of ROMs for mini. I am not dare to try all of them one by one. Is there any article to compare between those ROMs? Thx

in cm7...
if u want features then go fr cyanmobile revo A by squadzone..
if u want stability then go fr mebitek's pure cm7 or maybe u can take kittenlinux's buid ...
in stock based custom rom there r chocobread .. most stable ever..
then theres emanon.. n gingermod also...

You can try Godell's More version 1.4 It's a very good ROM!

Try ICS lightstyle by autoradio78 (baseCM7)....its fast,stable and top of all..Highly customizable...

I tried cyanmobile revo A, but it can't show Chinese (Trad) correctly......
For official cm7, the phonebook is not convenient and radio app is suck...(I don't understand why it force me to open bluetooth...)
Is there rom that have the features of cm7 and fix the above problem??
