iPhone OS on HTC Touch Viva? - Touch Viva, MDA Basic General

The title says it all...
Check out this Youtube video at watch?v=bRAa10xpqlc
And the other 2 posted by the same guy.
How did he do it?
His email address doesn't exist anymore.
Man I wanna try the same on my fone too...

It's not the iPhone OS! It's simply a shell program called iPhoneToday, you can get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633618
Plus, he has installed some programs for further customization:
S2U2 for the lock screen.
S2P as a music player.
TouchCal for the touch calendar.
CorePlayer as a video player.
And some other programs that I couldn't recognize. But anyway they're all programs that run on top of Windows Mobile. So they're not an independent OS.
Hope that was helpful.
Cheers, and enjoy your Viva, you can do a lot with this device. Just browse the Apps & Games section here on XDA for more ideas and programs.

thanks very much
very nice.
I am enjoying streaming goodness.
You have to download Flash in order for it to work.
You can also use vtap.com - has a rich client download that make searching and watching sweet.

add one more happy vtap user to the list. i just decided to try it because of this thread and its pretty cool for what it does. and we have access to all of youtube as opposed to the iPhone users. sure, they may have the better interface, but i'll take the larger library
Vtap is great!! The only problem I have is, on the site, it shows a view of the desired video like the youtube site would show but when inside the application, it only has a decriptions without a picture. Is this how it is for the Tilt version?

Me neither. I verified file associations within TCPMP. Notably, there's no 'Video Sites' shortcut in Programs.
Because in ATT ROM, real player is the default player for the PIE and it doesn't support youtube. since i flashed my tilt with HTC stock ROM, the default player is "streaming video" app which plays youtube video with no problem. i think there should be a way to change the default player in registery.
hm vtap is nice if it has what you are looking for, but i just did a search for a video that i had uploaded to youtube and it did not find it.

Just go to youtube.com on your cell, it will open "mobile youtube."
on the bottom of the page, click "classic view"
once there it should work with tcmd...
I installed the cab from this thread on my tilt and it worked. I can now stream videos from the m.youtube.com site.
Here is the thread

You're all forgetting to add that it also picks up videos from other sites, like MetaCafe, Google and Yahoo! Video and many others. Plus Wikipedia on the vTap just murks (that's "murder" for the ones not in the know) every other application or dictionary that tries to give us a mobile version of it on WM phones.
But the good thing is that the FlashVideoBundle works well also, just in case you prefered not to use a separate application...
i have vtap installed but i rather use regular youtube.
vtap and mtube lower the quality of the videos
can someone pls post the vFlashVideoBundle.CAB in this thread so I dont have to reg at that site. thanks!

looks cool! but is it a official M$ programm?
That guy is ugly!
Not MS program
but it uses the MS sideshow platform, however, i am really wondering why microsoft havent done this themselves, i mean, i have been wishing to try out this sideshow feature knowing i have to get some device (there was a really cool remote control ive seen that has sideshow).
it makes perfect sense to have it on a windows mobile device. it has bluetooth, wireless, etc.
This is an amazing idea, and i am thankful that these people have come up with it.
sideshow does but alot other programs in the bin tho...rudeo remote control, useless now since windows media sideshow will play pause show library and even album art of whats playing.
viigo and a long list of other rss programs...
If anyone gets to try the beta please post your experiences, this is a killer app if it works!

iPhone type Music Program(Album Art) for Kaiser/ Win Mobile

I am a new happy owner of the Kaiser and would like to find a music program similar to the interface of the iPhone. I love the feature where you can scroll through album art and select your music. Has anyone come across a Windows Mobile program similar to the iPhone music software or is something in development?
Thank you
XDA Developers Rule!
Welcome to xda-developers Haron, well i was finding a program like this too.. but i couldnt find it.. so im trying to develop a program, but i just started, it will take me a time but when i finish it i will upload it here for free.
** IF ANYONE HAS ONE PROGRAM LIKE THIS NOW, LET ME KNOW.. **
Regards.
A_C S2P (Slide 2 Play)
Try this its not perfect but its still in development and this is the first version with the album scroll. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377627
one of the problems with the lack of hardware video acceleration. The iphone actually has written drivers for their hardware to help them with video rendering unlike HTC that relies on software rending, you will be running head first into a bring wall attempting to make something as smooth and workable as the iphone app.

I bet S2P's album scroll screen would be abit better if the device didn't slow down when ever you touch the screen.

Newb Here
Okay guys i would like to say hello to everyone. But my question is . Does anyone know how you to fix the youtube issue with a .cab file or something?
thanks
Try using TCPMP with the Flashvideo Bundle.
Must be downloadeble here somewhere.
It works for me on my Herald.
Everything to get you started:
http://www.ytpocket.com/
Follow the "Getting Started" link
TCPMP Player and flash plugin and settings. More info in the FAQ's
And it's free...
Just go to http://m.youtube.com with your Kaiser.. Works perfectly for me
AvotMV
Avot mV is a good program, it is a stand-alone program that has a search functionality.
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-avot-mv-v1-2.html
The flash video bundle with TCMP works great for me. You might also check out vTap.

[APP] New Windows Mobile Youtube CAB included

Just saw on the WMPoweruser.com.
Youtube has created a native Windows Mobile application for displaying their videos on your phone, and its pretty good.
The user interface is attractive and uses fluid animations, and video quality is also very good, and apparently adaptive to the speed of your own connection
To download the app, visit http://m.youtube.com from your device. More cool features and app improvements are on the way, and the app will alert you as updates become available and allow you to upgrade with a single click.
Read more at Youtube here.
edit cab
Sweet, thanks for the heads up! Just installed and its pretty nice. I'm not sure if I like the button layout better than the original raphael youtube app but the transitions are pretty cool.
Pretty sweet. Works quickly and the streams are buffered properly.
call me retarded, but i dont see the link for the download

wamp wamp!
Is it better that the native application installed in Touch Diamond/Pro ?
If i install this version, older will delete properly ?
I don't think it's better, I found it to be pretty crappy quality. And I have full 3G where I am.
I get a 403 error when I go to m.youtube.com
I think the youtube mobile site doesnt like PIE 6
Can anyone get a cab up for download?

I found a way around this.
If you are using a ROM with PIE 6 on it, you will need to use Opera to download the app, as YouTube Mobile doesn't recognize PIE 6.
Pop open Opera, and go to opera:config, scroll down to User Prefs and click on it, scroll down to Custom User-Agent and change it to "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11)", scroll down to save and have it.
After that close out of Opera completely and open it back up. Browse to m.youtube.com and you should see the download link right below the search bar.
The default Raphael Opera User Agent should be "HTC-P4600/1.2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)"
weird ... i don't have user prefs in my opera:config
PIE6 worked fine for me as long as I had it set for mobile viewing.
Jeez you guys are difficult.
It works great. Other then that, the quality is pretty much poo.

Awesome, TC! Thank you!
Truthfully, I like HTC Youtube far better. Google Youtube streams faster (I suspect this is because I have High Quality set on HTC Youtube), but the video lags, and the interface is not as good as HTC's. Google Youtube seems to be more slick, and it does have an internal volume control (something HTC Youtube needs). Still, I just like HTC Youtube a lot more.
Nonetheless, I'm happy that Google is providing support for Windows Mobile now. Hopefully, we'll eventually get a program from Hulu. Once that happens, life is complete.
this is good...an alternative for nonHTC users
stupid thing replaced my htc youtube. guess u cant have both

I thought so too, but it only overwrites the shortcut. After uninstalling Google YouTube, just follow these few steps to have the original HTC YouTube. Navigate to \Windows\YouTube.exe in file explorer, then click and hold to copy it, and then navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and click and hold to "paste shortcut". That's all there is to it...
And yes, HTC YouTube program seriously trumps the Google YouTube app here. Nice find though!
i really like the HTC youtube App Much better, Except for the Speed Difference. The WinMo App is about 10times faster. But the interface isnt as pretty!
