Root Loop - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I downloaded the modaco update-nexusone-FRF50-signed.zip, and flashed my stock 2.1 (out of the box) nexus one rom, it worked well for about 9 hours, i plugged it into my car charger and when i took it off, it froze, and the touch screen disabled. Now im trying to reflash the rom and keep getting stuck at E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1, then E: Can't mount SD card
Any ideas on how i can get this working again?
Thanks

Gotta post in the Q&A section man.

Problem installing kernel - need help!

Hi there.
New to the forum and rooting. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate and also have rooted using z4 root. I tried installing the kernel SuperFast v1.1.23 and now have a big problem. I used Rom Manager to "install ROM using SD" and selected the kernel zip file that I saved onto the external SD card. It appeared to install properly and then started to boot...however it's just stuck there looping between the words "I896" and "SAMSUNG". I got to the Android system recovery <2e> manual screen and "reboot system now" just takes me back to the rotating text.
when i tried "apply sdcard:update.zip", i get a "E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted." but this option will no longer work anyways because my batter is low.
NEED HELP!!

you need ODIN and to get your phone in download mode....
i dont even know what SuperFast v...... is.
its not a kernel provided here on the captivate forums...so, dont know what to tell you. load up ODIN, put your phone in download mode and flash back the proper kernel
Please take this to the right forum...this is development!

Perhaps that is your problem, you installed an htc kernel on a samsung phone...
Use this to get back to stock and stay away from the htc section.
And don't post in the dev section either, its for developers only.

wtf!?
to the OP, if you really did try flashing an HTC kernel on your samsung, please do us all a favor:
return your phone and get yourself an iphail.
Thanks for the input everyone. And I will make sure to post in the correct section next time!

Actually no. It was a kernel for the Samsung Galaxy Fascinate. I accidentally installed it on my Captivate. If you really don't have any useful suggestions, you should go troll other posts instead. thanks.

reading fail
also, i attempted to help you out already and DID NOT tell you you were posting in the wrong location....
i am still trying to fathom why you would attempt to load a kernel like that on your phone. i was responding to someone else who said that the kernel was an HTC kernel....
but on the other hand, congratulations on almost ruining your phone!
Ok...so I was able to restore my Rogers Samsung Captivate (I896) back to its original Rogers settings.
Phone turns on and seems to be working properly.
I reinstalled the Samsung mobile drivers from and used Heimdall to restore my phone using the downloaded file "I896UXJI2-homebinary".
So now I noticed 2 issues:
1. The 3G isn't registering/working.
2. Noticed my internaly SD memory has dropped significantly. Was originally at about 16GB, but now down to 1.5GB.
Any suggestions??
just following up. any suggestions on my issues in the post above?
thanks

Help.

I just tried flashing a custom rom on my phone but i put the cwm flashable files in the wrong folder how i do i fix.
i mean i put them on the wrong sd card
You can either use the my files app to move the files or if you are rooted you can use root explorer. Biggest piece of information I can give is do some more reading and research before you end up with an expensive paperweight. A good place to start is in the captivate q&a stickies section for "how to flash custom ROM's"
Nevermind look here

Sorry, new XDA app still giving me fits. But it looks like 4-2ndtwin got you headed in the right direction.
thanks man i've gotten it back to stock 2.1 but i think somethings gone wrong with my drivers on the computer cause when i plug in the phone it shows a red triangle with an exclamation mark in the status bar. won't mount properly.
this is what i followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
i didn't do the master clear part though because the internal memory seems to be working fine

Dead internal storage issue. (sprint sph-p100)

So I have been trying to deal with this for a while now... It all started on a normal day. I come home and see my sprint galaxy tab (with ics) with a little message on it. It said that encryption had failed. From then on the device would boot loop. I have already read through other threads and tried flashing, repartitioning, I have checked the error messages via adb and I am sure my internal storage is dead. I partitioned my microsd card with an ext4 and 2 fat32 partitions, then I flashed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275031. Then I changed the vold.fstab to the appropriate thing. And it still boot loops. In cwm i cannot mount /cache, /data, /sdcard, or /sd-ext. I have downloading mode, recovery, and adb that I can use. I just cant seem to figure out what is going on. I am completely stumped here. Thx ahead of time for any help.
EDIT: Attached the logcat during boot...
And another cdma tab bites the dust running ics...
Sounds like your internal memory went bad. This seems to be happening to a lot of cdma tabs that run ics. Only real fix that I know is sending it to samsung to fix. If you search the forums you'll see a lot of post of this happening to other people. What they all have in common is that I was running ics......

Hmm... perhaps someone should look into that 0.o
Anyone know a thread for installing android to the external card specifically on the sph-p100? Preferably with download links for everything you need that aren't dead lol.

I opened mine up and removed the internal SD (literally pulled it off).
I installed a stock ROM (via Odin) and it works, right now I'm trying to install ICS but its not as straight forward.

[q] htc one x hanging on 'quietly brilliant'

Hi All.
How Can I get my pictures off my poorly One X?
Really need help with my 1x. It switched itself off the other day in my pocket and now it hangs on the 'quietly brilliant' screen and wont start up. I have rooted it and it has clockworkmod recovery v5.8.2.7 on it- I didnt put a custom rom on it, just rooted it.
I am unable to mount USB storage through clockworkmod as I am getting 'unable to open ums lunfile (no such file or directory)' error. I had hoped that if i could mount the usb, i could at least access the sd through my pc to transfer pictures from my phone. I am really at a loss now. I was wondering if it could be a battery issue (i have had it on charge for sometime but on the hboot screen it says 'battery level is too low to flash'). I really dont know what to do now. if i cannot connect via usb to pc, then i have no way of trying to transfer pics and files or un-rooting or transferring and img files to try some sort of re-flash.
In CWM recovery, i have browsed for zip files and can see all the folders there so i assume all my pictures are also still present.
The pictures are the most important to me as they are holiday pics. I would, of course, just like the phone to work again but at the very least, be able to get my pics off it.
Any help much appreciated guys. Thanks, Pete.

how about in the link he provided?
In the One X section you will found a lot of guide and file for save your phone and re-use it!
There is a fastboot file that will charge your battery in fastboot for flash a rom or for unlock your bootloader if it is locked.
So, see the link

You thread is in the wrong Q&A section.
You had to write here, the Q&A section of the One X
