Is there anyone with the technical venacular and knowledge to explain if and why this may happen?
I was having an issue where my internet connection wasnt working AT ALL. I tried everything. I tried wiping everything from my device, EXT partition, SD Card and Dalvik Cache. I tried flashing different ROMS. Everything I could think of. My issue didnt get resolved until I flashed over to DamageControl, which gave me the option to move my Dalvik Cache from my SD card and back onto my phone. Since I did this I havent had any internet issues at all. I've gone two days with no problems as far as my net is concerned. Prior to that I would flash a new ROM and within 15 minutes my data would be gone again.
I can only assume this fixed my issue but I dont know why.
Anyone else experienced this? Anyone know why this would happen?
no idea what might cause this other than a slow sd. You should be using at least a class 4 card to run a2sd and especially dalvik on the sd.
FWI - you can move dalvik cache back to the system memory on any a2sd enabled rom by typing a2sd nocache in adb command
Yea. I've got a class 4 16gb so I'm not sure. Oh well. I'm just glad it works now. I honestly didn't notice a huge difference with my dalvik cache being on the SD anyway.

For the past few weeks, my phone has been randomly rebooting. I would say about 20 times a day. I cant nail down a pattern. Sometimes its while im using it, sometimes its while its idol. Here is what Ive tried so far:
Reinstalled Rom (different versions)
Reinstalled DT A2SD
Whiped Everything (dalvik, SD, and everything else).
Formatted SD card with Amon_RA's recovery.
New Battery
I've tried running a logcat, but this doesn't tell me anything. It just stops when it reboots.
The only thing I havent tried is purchasing a new SD card. I want to see if I have any other options before I do that. I feel like there is something i'm missing. Ive read something about formatting the SD card in windows, instead of in the phone. Are there any other things I can do to troubleshoot? Log's I can check?
Phone Details:
Nexus One
Amon_RA Recovery
CM7 Nightlies
16GB Class 10 SD
DT A2SD
EXT3 SD partition for apps & Dalvik
Thanks for any help that can be provided
It's a known hardware issue.
You have to send your device back to HTC for repair.
I've seen a few claims that similar problems are actually caused by a bad SIM. I've no idea how accurate this is, but it's easy enough to test...?
Ok, long story short, I have 113MB of 'system data' in my /datadata folder (66% full), and I want it gone.
But I can't get rid of it... I've tried a full clean install, I've tried manually formatting /datadata from CWM, and I've also tried formatting boot, cache, data, datadata, and system from CWM followed by a fresh install (Kang 12/17).
My wife has the same phone and ROM and she only has 26% full in /datadata. I can't - for the life of me - figure out how to completely clean /datadata.
One thing I noticed in terminal emulator is that the data in /data and /datadata is about equal to what is listed in /system. However, formatting /system did not clear it out.
Please help as this is driving me insane!
Isn't datadata based on your apps? Like dalvik? I think ur wife just has less apps.

I thought so to, but even with no apps (nothing but what comes with the ROM) I have 3x what she has... and she has what comes with the ROM plus all her other apps.
If it does have to do exclusively with the apps, I'm more than willing to do everything step by step to figure out which app(s) cause my issue, but in order to do that I need to be able to clear the folder of everything except what true system data is necessary and start from square 1.
/datadata is apps settings and data. A little more info might help...

What kind of info do you need, and I'll try and supply it. I'm trying to do a clean install so that all of those app settings and data are starting from scratch. Factory resets didn't do it, formatting the folders through CWM didn't do it...
I must be missing something... but I can't figure out what it is.
Some basic background:
Most recently on the 12/17 Kang (CM7.2 RC0) with the glitch v13 (2.6.35.13) kernel and Gapps 08/28
For the just completed testing I only flashed Gapps (08/28) and the 12/17 Kang so I could see if anything I did worked on clearing /datadata.
Other than that, the only modification I've done to my phone is the modem is KG3 i9000.

I haven't... I have the free version currently. Would the pro version do all of this stuff?
The free version should do for deleting data and removing apps.

I'll go out out on a limb here but try backing up your sd card and formatting it?

I had thought of that too... once formatted and I reinstall the ROM and stuff, is it easy enough to just copy those folders back on the phone? That was the one thing I was worried about... and thus I hadn't tried yet.
Formatting always makes me nervous
Are you encountering any issues with it being that full? Or is this just to satisfy your ocd?

As simple as dragging and dropping files. Also nice to start fresh every once in a while to clear out junk from old apps.
I'm getting ready to format my SDcard and start all over... but if I format my SD card, I'll no longer have my ROM zips there to flash. I put the ROMs on my external SD card (emmc), but in CWM I can't mount emmc to make sure they are there to flash when I format my SDCard...
How do I get my ROM flashed again once I format my SD card?
EDIT:
Doing more research it appears that I should be able to format my SD card w/o losing my ROM as long as I leave my boot and system folders alone.
So, if I format /data, /datadata, and /sdcard I should be able to reboot and see if it worked

I am encountering issues with it being that full. I have like 70 apps with approx 38MB of data taken up... combined with the large amount of 'system data' in the /datadata partition I'm running into the issues when that folder gets to 90% capacity.
It's at the point that I can't install new apps that save any data at all or I will have to constantly shuffle which apps can save their data. Doing research I found that the 172MB cap shouldn't be an issue unless you are hording apps... I have a small number of apps with a small amount of data, so things should be better
Thanks for all the suggestions...
But so far nothing has worked.
I formatted the SD card along with data and datadata and rebooted the phone.
My /datadata folder was still listed at 66% full. So formatting nearly everything still couldn't clear this folder.
I'm still boggled why the other captivate started with 8MB system data and I start with 113MB, both on a clean install...
Perhaps my only hope is to clear stuff out again and flash ICS and hope that something is different enough that this 'problem' goes away...
An additional thought
Would I be able to delete the /datadata folder through Root Explorer, reboot into recovery and reflash the ROM?
I would assume the ROM will repartition the phone correctly. System data can't exist in a folder that doesn't exist - right?
This is a different issue. It doesnt matter what rom I put in, I always get the force close for all the apps. Now I dont know what rom to put in. I put in any rom, initially I get the setup wizard force close, then the google search, market and so on. I have done clearing the cache, tried different kernels.
Another strange that I notice is that whenever I wipe the caches and do a factory reset, there still remains some files in the internal sd card. I formated the sd card as well but when I goto the recovery menu, I still see it. Im trying to fix this issue for the last 3 days. Could some one please help me?
Always make a factory redet after flashing.

I have done factory reset several times. One interesting thing is how many times I do the wiping, the internal sd card still holds some old files. I have even tried to format the sd card but to no help. I still then files. The files are related to CWM and the back up files.

I seen this problem in another thread.. I think it's hardware related... so you might have to send it to Samsung

Would a restore in Kies solve this?
Hey.
I have a problem with my N1.
I use the Evervolv Rom by Texas. Yesterday I the problem occured that it was impossible for me to install any app from the Market. Everytime I try a message "Not enough space" pops up. When I try to restore an app with Titanium Backup it loads for forever, but TB shows that there is enough ROM, Internal, A2SD storage available.
Then I tried several things like repartionating my SD-Card (using GParted - ext3 1,5 GB), using a different BlackRose hboot. I even tried this CM9 ROM, but the problem stays the same.
Now I have no idea how to solve this problem
Could my SD card be broken?
Greetings

did you activate the a2sd in terminal?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Yes, but i left the dalvic internal
You should try these:
a2sd install (folowed by "yes" and "yes")
a2sd xdata
It should give you a huge internal space.

Seems to help, but I find it unusual that A2SD did just now, and now despite the fact that i wiped several times it only works with this command.
Now several apps have a force close when i try to start them... i cleaned dalvic cache and cache but it stays..
ask the master himself or wipe everything 3X b4 you install rom if all else fails FLASH another rom if it continues then get a new sd card if that dont help your phone it self might be the problem .... just giving some ideas ....
A2SD and all it's info is here maybe this might help you bro http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715940 HOPE I HELPED IN SOME WAY
Thank you guys... I checked everything and now brought a new SD... looks good so far
Hey all. I'm new...
I've had my Galaxy Note for about 2 months now and just updated to JellyBean using eybee1970's dump..
To be fair i've had no problems at all, even the keyboard is right for me and my sms' are fine..
The only problem i'm having is getting all my apps back and a couple have come back with "Cannot install on USB or SdCard" I've done a search on t'web and all I can find is to delete the smdl2tmp1 file, But I can't find it in either location..
I ave plenty of space and it's only happening on a few apps..
What else can I try?
Cheer!
try to wipe
The whole phone or just the sdcard..? Ive unmounted and remounted the card and also wiped and copied everything back on.. nothing worked..
Did you wipe data cache dalvik in CWM recovery?
