err, can it possibly be that you are in the wrong subforum? just checking your sig I mean...
well, I'm no chef so I can only be vague about it, but you need a kitchen for the device, add basic Wm version, apps and progs and also manila version (and probably something more as well) and cook it
adding it on a cooked rom is somewhat more complicated (if possible at all); i seem to remember a thread offering add-on like manila as a cab, but I'm not exactly sure about it
there is a lot of qualified folks here who are better able to answer that, so i will move the thread to general for continued input, but would also advice an visiting Chef Central (dev/chef support there) and do some reading/searching there
best
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general/q&a

It's impossible to install Manila with CABS! Have been discussed more times on the forum..... you can ONLY add manila and its components by cooking all its files and dependencies on a new rom!

exactly, there is a cab here on xda with manila/sense2.5 but i wont recommend it due to the fact that many dependencies were left out, meaning only some stuff works... and those manila/sense cabs takes over 20 mins to install... you can task29, flash a rom and setup in that same 20 minutes

thx both
@spike at least now I know I'm not completely daft

hi all
this is going to sound stupid to many of you, but please, give me the time.
i have had the kaiser for a while now and been a member of modaco. but today was the first time i flashed my T2 to 6.1 using H-SPL. (link from modaco, the one with the modaco splash screen). anywho after seeing who easy it was to flash [ thanks hard spl devs ] i wanted to see what other roms there are.
however after browsing this site i just get confused with lots of releses with similar names, like throttle launcer...
i just dont know which to choose.
anywho i was wondering whether some could point me in the direction of a good 6.1 ROM which resemble the HTC diamond interface as much as possible (preferablly actually 6.1, not 6 with a theme, as 6.1 feel's much faster to me) because the diamond interface is much slicker than my current. also i would like it to have as little Non-stock software as possible.
many thanks, sorry for the stupid questions, it's a new world to me.
sorry for any spelling mistakes, ie the one in the title, i cant change that now.
I think you will either get 5 different replies or mods will close your thread... so, why don't you try each and every ones that you think you will like, and keep the one you like the most...
http://www.throttlelauncher.com/portal/
but it's real slow since kaiser don't have any graphic acceleration at all...
is throttle laucher based one 6.1? and what are your experience with?
oh hang is throttle launcher a CAB or a ROM that website you linked want me to download some cabs?
you say that TL is slow, and i am aware theat the T2 is slow as there are no drivers, i have installed the action class drivers will that help?
also mods plaese dont close/delete this, i'm completely serious, i just want some good advice.

Throttle Launcher is just an application, it's not an OS. However some cooks (such as L26) have integrated the program into their ROM. You should go out and try all the ROMs out there and decide which one best fits your needs.
ok, but can you reccomend some, one of my issues is that i cant find, them all, as they are spread all over forum over many pages,
which do you use?
I personally use my own ROM (RevROM v3.33), however the popular ones are Garmin, ROMeOS, and Dutty's (a bit outdated but still popular).

Slow? Not on my Kaiser with Laurentius last Beta3 V10 ROM + new HTCClassAction's drivers
Definitive Answer... sort of.....
Howdy™
Out of curiosity, what will you be using your T2 for? Multimedia, classic PDA use, IT tool, navigational aide, etc...?
The reason why I ask is because, depending on your answer, there would be several ROMs to consider that carry both the basic functionality, as well as advanced functionality(with the help of additional programs) for each type of use you may want.
So the definitive answer would be, try em all!! Take time to read what each ROM contains or does not contain, as in the case of ROMs marked "Lite" or "No Thrillls". Make sure to read through the threads as well for any potential problem that a particular ROM may be having with a program or any bugs that may be found.

Only thing I would say to that is that you need to do the legwork and hunt down exactly what you are looking for. The forum search is an excellent (as well as the preferred way) of finding those "must have" programs for your T2. Also, check out some of the senior members signatures for links to file sharing sites, as they often host mirrors for popular programs as they become available. This is how I got my T2 to be EXACTLY the way that I wanted it to be.
So there you have it, the definitive answer. I do appologize if this sounds alot like **BEFORE YOU POST START HERE** FAQ, Wiki, Stickies & Tutorials - Suggestions Welcome! , but that was posted for a reason and should be adhered to as everyone here is donating their time and energy, so lets not waste it .

rhodium dialer

Has anyone extracted the rhodium dialer into a cab? I want to install on top of my topaz rom as the topaz dialer is buggy as hell
dont expect too much , i have the Rhodium Dailer , its slider is also buggy as hell
Well, I personally couldn't care less if the slider is buggy, perfect or non-existent. But I definitely want the ability to enter contact details directly from the dialer.

You think I havent searched?
Problem is there is no centralised place for all this manila 3 stuff.
All I have found are cab files for the old stock blackstone dialer. Problem is I have flashed a topaz based ROM, but the topaz dialler is very buggy - hence I wish to install Rhodium dialer
why in the ROM developmentt forum? the Q&A forum is the general one. let us watch the ROM threads please.
why bump it 3 times?
sames go for yr other thread "why oh why". i think you got what you asked for. did you add [solved] ? did you said thank you?
it is like we owe you something here and if we don't comply you'll keep bugging us like a spoiled child. and stop complaining if it's possible..please, pretty, pretty please... you complained in the last week or so about fonts, contacts and now..the dialer and i am sure that's not all...buy an iPhone.

1) Yes I did say thank you - on the thread
2) Yes I didnt like how HTC changed the fonts in the new manila, they are too large - was I the only one to say this? No. Did you complain when others mentioned this, no.
3) I didnt complain about contacts - I love the new contacts, but the problem is there are inconsistancies in Manila with regards to what links to the new contacts manager.
4) The topaz dialer is buggy - I would like to install the rhodium one. So what? At the moment I have reverted to the default stock dialer, but that doesnt link to the new contacts manager and other functions. Is it so bad to want a cab to be put up for rhodium dialer? No.
5) I am very much a contributor in many ways - just because I dont cook roms, theres no need to show me such disrespect. And I dont see what iPhone has to do with anything.
Can some mod lock this one???

Do you guys communicate with each other ? I'd like to communicate with other blackstone cooks to share some of the knowledge and hopefully make better ROMs for the userbase here. I can be reached on the three IM networks in my profile
p.s. Here's a start... Anybody know how to get the newer "HTC Message Enhancenent" package to actually work in outlook by skinning the "to:" fields....inserting the green call icon.. etc ? I can't get mine to FULLY work.
p.s. here is a hint
runCC

I think EnergyROM 1.0 HD Series roms are really good, it is almost perfect, but if this problem about the EnergyROM HD 90409 can be fixed, that can be even better.
First is about the clock, it seems sometime the clock can not be delete as you set it on 9:00 am,than it work well, but when you change it to some other time, like 10:00 am, it will ring both 9 and 10, even you didn't open the alarm, the old setting didn't be delete.
Another problem is about the tf3D music player stutter, it is a old problem but I just find some points about it recently. One, the old manila never got this happen; two, one off the L26 rom with the same new manila don't have this problem; three, wm6.5 with same new manila also never have this problem; and four, after you do some registry editting to the audiomanager_Eng, it well be fix for a time. Now I'm still seach for the reason and try to fix it.
After all, you works are really great, it is almost the best rom I have seem, thank you. You are the best!

issue tracker wiki

would it be a good idea to allow cookers to create issue trackers in the wiki and link the page to the first page of their threads.
that way when someone has an issue/fix we can say "add it to the wiki" and they can see if the issue has already been reported and any fixes that users have associated with it?
it also give the cooker one place to look when they come to support that rom
Anybody can edit the Wiki, it wouldnt neccassarily need to done by the cooks, why dont you start it off and turn this useless thread into something contructive rather than another cloed thread!

i know... that's the point! everyone can edit it for their issues. but we'd want the cookers to adopt the wiki page as their issue trackers.

Hi,
I noticed you had added links to the 6.5 ROM list on the Wiki. I updated the table just now and moved the column for the issies links nearer to the left. I also took out the language column as the table is getting too wide, and we can group the languages as shown in the revised table.
There is also a post about listing all the ROMs on the Wiki as this has not been kept up to date.
See the post here:

I think I have captured all the WWE 6.5 ROMs which have active support for them by their chefs and they are listed on the Cooked Roms page

Let see what others think
made this post in another thread... (apology for cross-posting)
great idea! i'd like to offer the following suggestions:
add a column for ROM version. i know this is for 2.5 Manila, but miri may have 2-3 2.5 Manila versions in circulation at one time. standardized selections would be great (although i'm not sure it's possible)
consider adding a standardized "feature" column/tag. might help with searching or filtering responses. for example, a standard features list could include: SMS, Twitter, Weather, email, contacts, data connection, sounds, alarms, etc.
are these easy changes to make? i ask because i'm not familiar with the wiki edit process.
Good idea, i like it!

Guys the problem we have is two fold.
1) The Chefs are releasing new ROMs with increasing regularity
2) The Chefs rarely (and this isn't a pot shot) retrospectively fix issues in that ROM - they fix in subsequent ones.
I am fully for this idea but I see the above as massive problems to overcome for it to be useful. We risk putting Chefs of cooking ROMs but asking for such increases in bug fixing and ROM releases will naturally decrease with that.
I am not saying I either want this or don't - I am simply pointing this out. I have a number of issues with my current ROM that I would love sorting out...I don't want to be chopping and changing my ROM every two minutes in order to fix a small issue - however that being said, I also want Chefs to continue their excellent work.
Let's be careful and sensitive to what we are wishing for?

It's pointless in any case unless the cookers agree to use them as a bug issue priority list of sorts. I'm not sure that these guys have sufficient time to do that.
Having a list of issues is one thing....the list of fixes is going to be another entirely!

hey wiggz, while i understand your concerns i don't fully agree with them.
The idea of the issues tracker is different for different users:
People that don't have the rom:
these guys will be able to look at the issues and associated fixes (if any) and decide if they want to flash the rom.
People that have the rom:
They can look at the tracker and add new issues, track fixes and not have to flood the thread with things like "GPRS keeps connecting halp!!" after every two posts. Also, fixes can be given to a wider audience rather than someone saying "look a few pages back… this has been fixed"
Cookers:
Cookers can TRACK the issues, they can see what is wrong with the rom and either
A. fix it in this current rom
B. apply the fix or test the issue in the new rom
C. do nothing as there is no fix
The idea is that:
Duplicate posts will get reduced
Fixes get the visibility that they deserve
New roms can be regression tested by cookers, beta testers and normal users.
I think you got confused with "suggested fix"…. I am not asking miri/nrg or other cookers to fill out the form, it is for their reference.
The suggested fix is for ALL users to fill in. if the cookers/other users find a fix then the best place to put it is in the wiki and not on post #1006044 on page 1902309231
You dig?

Miri has now added this to his thread. Still waiting on response from NRG
I totally get it - perhaps I was simply focusing on the negatives a bit too much.
The fact is when I'm looking at a new ROM I want as much information about issues as I can so I know whether to invest the time or not.
However more often than not my issues stem from small issues that arise in ROMs but are never fixed. For me, the EnergyROM Leo would be perfect if I could just send MMS messages (the 'fix' hasn't worked for me).

How to cook your own rom, an initiative by moderators

Dear folks:
How many us are really looking for cooking our own rom. Information are scattered here and there and the process is not straight forward. It can be as simple as adding cabs and as complicated as perhaps changing hardware, porting roms to other devices, etc...
I think the reason why there is no tutorial for cooking the rom is because well it's difficult for one to develop that kind of tutorial, let alone his/her experience and best practices in various areas.
Ok so how to solve it? I suggest that all great cooking people out there, share to build that tutorial led by the moderator.
For example, one person could be in charge of explaining how to add CAB, another person in doing sys, another in porting, another in compiling, etc..
Clearly there will be multiple sections in that thread and it would be owesome and well organized. Even better, some topics can be jointly developed by more then one person sharing the experience and the best tricks and tips between them.
Somebody has to start this initiative, at least in defining the blocks, who is going to take the first shot and entice others to cooperate?
Samer.
sounds like a good idea i'd definitely like to know!!! im always looking for ways to build up my skills.
There's plenty of tutorials floating around... But if you want one done JUST for the TP2, I can help with that...
Im down...if not make my own, maybe help someone else. I personally think there are too many to choose from, and there needs to be a streamlined process to ensure that the ones that work, continue to get the support to make them better.
As NRG said, there are already a lot of threads and tutorials. Making a ROM is not just a Rhodium thing, it is very generic to start. Then making it Rhodium compliant might take some extra work. In any case, I am also looking to start my own kitchen so any efforts in this direction are apprciated.
I would greatly appreciate this. I am currently trying to cook my own ROM. I got the Visual Kitchen, dumped the HTC WWE 6.5 ROM and downloaded the 23518 rollup from Da_G.
I used Dump Sorter to sort the rollup and put it in the SYS folder. I moved the MSXIPKernel into ROM\Shared\23518. I selected 23518 for XIP and SYS build and left ETX at 21854. The ROM won't build. I try to make it but the file in RHODIUM_Release is only 8MB.
In the build log it says
"Executing: platformrebuilder.exe.....
platformrebuilder.exe Executed successfull!!!"
Platformrebuilder does not do anything where as if I left everything at 21854 there is a LOT of stuff that platformrebuilder.exe does.
Also in ROM\Shared\21854 there is a file xip.bin that I don't have in 23518.
Help cooking sense2.5
My problem is when trying to cook Leo sense2.5(EXT package). ( I could produce sense2.1 without any problem) . BUT ran into issues like: (see photo) or if the ROM is complete. I can't get past the installation screen, just hung there and not giving me the Today Screen. So any help would be greatly appreciative.
ps.. I did check Real WM 6.5, but ROM still won't boot.

Well first of all, it's an honor to see a great person like yourself answering my post, so my warm regards for your kindness.
Yes, I am interested obviously in TP2, although from the moment I got my hands on it, I never tried anything but EnergyRom (do you know who does them?) but it's just that I wish I can combine the latest official WM6.5 with arabic keyboard and Sense 2.5 and perhaps some cool stuff.
Indeed there are plenty of tutorials out there but maybe they are not clear enough to me, or maybe I didnt' search very well or maybe I dont know how and where to start. so yes ur input are highly welcome just like your presence.

I'd love to see one! Not that I'm not grateful to the cooks for their ROMs, I'd like to know how it's done and maybe add a few programs of my own to a ROM.
Oh, and I think it'd be best to start right at the beginning so that everyone is at the same level eventually.
Thanks!
I started cockin roms a couple years ago and said the exact same thing how the information is scattered.. i'm in, just let me know what you need and i'll help with what i can.
I also see some tutorials in many sub-forums, but having to look at 4 different pages just to do one step in cooking a ROM is a little troublesome and confusing. So here's what I think should happen:
I think there should be a sticky thread that has clear steps (a guide) on how to cook ROMs.
Then there should also be a sticky thread that has all kitchens from chefs that want to release them. (Similar to the Radio Collection Thread.)
That would help a lot of people! I want to cook ROMs when I have the time (over summer) and if (hopefully when) this happens, it would be easier for many people like me to cook ROMs.
BesFen made a solid tutorial for using Visual kitchen in the Opal forum, and I helped with that one. I think this is an excellent idea and I'd love to help with it in whatever capacity I can.

edit: Just read the poll results. Whoever said no is obviously not XDA material.
i dont mind helping with this
Thanks for starting this thread.. Been using excellent ROMs from NRGZ & b16b, but want to do my own thing for my Rhodium. Hopefully, this will get me to appreciate the efforts of these 2 fine cooks and use the facilities provided by XDA better..
I've been trying to wrap my head around the info provided by Da_G in this super thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544445
It is taking a while for a newbie like me..
When I had my XV6800(AKA Titan) after a while of modding I started cooking my own roms. I usually removed the garbage I would never use to shrink the Rom size. I then left for a BB in Nov. 2008. Well my senses have come around and I will be back to WinMo with a TP2 on Wed. So I would like to see a kitchen to cooking rom Tutorial assuming it is different. I know that of course CDMA vs GSM will be with because of the carrier CAB. This go around I am leaving VZW to T-Mobile.
So, what's happened with this and this thread? Has it all turned out to be a p**s take?
I would love to see a cohesive tutorial on how to cook a ROM.
I've poked around in the kitchen threads but have gotten kind of lost and overwhelmed. It seems like information is so scattered around.
I've been looking for a project to do for awhile and have thought that ROM cooking might be kinda fun. Initially, I'd just like to make something with the features I want but who knows where it might go. I think I've tried every TP2 ROM on XDA-Developers now and, while I've found some excellent ones, nothing that quite screams "this is EXACTLY what I want".
So...yeah...a good "how-to" would be excellent and I'd be forever grateful.
FWIW, I'd be happy to do some trade-work in exchange for this. I've got a pretty decent technical skill set...just not one involving ROM cooking.
Same here.. I'm stuck on getting a build to use.. Looking for a good NAM build : Tilt2 stock or something for Tilt2 will be a good start..
My first attempt is with the Eruvius Visual kitchen. I think I got all the required files. There were multiple download links in the original thread. I'm guessing that I get the older version and replace the latest kitchen .exe on top.
I'd love to try to cook my own ROM. I agree that the information seems sparse and kinda scattered. My cursory browsing very much gives the vibe that information for Touch Pro 2 ROM Development has an unspoken understanding that you've made ROMs before. Not me.
I'd love a simple step-by-step tutorial (for rhodium), cause I'd like to build a simple ROM based on the latest 5.5.3/5, without manila...
