OK, I know right off the bat that this is a dumb question, but I just can't figure out what the big deal about Espresso is. I've searched many, many times, but that just brings up people asking how to install it.
What I'm curious about is what's the big deal? What does Espresso bring to the table? Functionally, not cosmetically, why would I want Espresso on my phone?
Because if it's just a cosmetic change, people surely wouldn't be cluttering up threads so much asking about it, right?
It brings nothing but a newer looking Rosie Bar. I for one cant stand it and would prefer the stock Rosie to Espresso. Ive also grown to like the Droid Launcher...

OK, thanks.
That's pretty much what I thought, but so many people seem so very, very eager to get it within 10 seconds of a new rom release, I thought maybe it might add some actual functionality.
But if it's just the cosmetic change, then I agree, it's butt-ugly. Stock Rosie looks much better. Haven't tried out the Droid launcher yet, I'll give it a look. Gotta say though, I'm not sure about ditching Sense. It's not so much Sense itself I'm attached to, but some of the widgets that depend on it....
I for one think any variation of rosie is ugly, I prefer nexus launcher. I also liked launcher2, with the app dock. That sinistermashes dudes idea for a dock as a launcher was a kewl idea. Conservative and intuitive.

Neither the Droid Launcher or Espresso themes ditch Sense. They just change the look of the launcher bars at the bottom of the screen. All the Sense features and widgets still work fine with either of them.
I like the stock rosie or the nexus launcher, at least those tell you which screen you're on. The expresso doesn't and it's big... too much space taken up.
I don't get what the big deal is.

Mind directing me to a screenshot of the Droid launcher? I'm intrigued.
Can anyone tell me how to restore the stock rosie? I want that expresso gone.

I'll check it out. As I said, I'm not attached to sense, I just can't bring myself to get rid of a few of the widgets that rely on it.
That said, from a cosmetic point of view, I think Espresso is going about 10 years backwards from a UI design point of view. I also think the stock, Google developed Android launcher belongs somewhere in the Windows 3.1 league.....
Then again, I also don't understand why people give a crap about the lockscreen. I always just do a quick double click on the menu button and never see it in the first place.
Maybe I'm just not the target audience for these particular tweaks....

Id give up sense in a heartbeat if i could find a bookmark widget and email widget as nice as senses. And the full weather animations too.
I hear beatiful widgets has animations? Same level as 2.1?
some guys over at the hero section got live wallpapers to work on sense ui, and how downloadable rosie.apk's, i tried pushing one, and it doesnt work, can anyone port this to our phones?

i think it would only work on the hero device but the devs should def look at it
Once again, WHY. LWPs aren't even stable yet especially because of the 3D memory leaks. The builds are already anti-battery friendly and chances are you'll only be using the lwp for 5 minutes before turning it off from the unbearable lag emitting from your phone.
Although I love the way sense UI feels, I decided to go with froyo, and will stay with stock android until somebody ports sense to 2.2 . However, I really like the news widget that sense UI has. I've looked and found the apk, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6447678&postcount=10, but it doesn't install correctly. Can anybody help me figure out what's wrong or direct me to a working solution? Thanks!!
Before someone rips you a new one for not searching the forum, ill answer your question.
Simply... no. All sense widgets rely on the sense UI framework which cannot be ported over to a normal nexus one rom. So any widget seen on a desire rom cannot be ported over... period. Sorry bro
Laaame. Anyone know of a full page news widget similar to that of sense?
I dunno about a full page one, but NewsRoom is really nice.
Hello guys!
You can try this mod on you Android.
The settings are is in Russian,so you can post here photo of settings, and i will translate their for you.

If you have not installed the LP, or remove the settings before the installation: just install the application convenient for you.
If you already have an old version of the LP modes Sens, reinstall. I'm doing it this way: I write in ADB adb install-r <a link to an application>

Hello!
You'r welcome!
Use adb command in a terminal on your computer.
I have looked through the APK provided by the OP, and ALL this is (and this should come as no surprise to anyone) is a repackaged LauncherPro APK with a Sense dock. I also assume that this runs on an outdated version of LauncherPro, given the filename (LauncherPro_SenseMod_0.8.0.apk) whereas LP is currently on version 0.8.2.
This seems completely superfluous and unnecessary, given that all of the changes this "mod" makes can be done without replacing LauncherPro, just by storing the proper images on your SDcard and using LP's built-in customization. The only changes in this mod that can't be done through LP's built-in customization are the trash can and home icons shown when deleting icons or when in the app drawer. If there are any other changes, I certainly can't see them.
does it mean that i can use sense ui widgets with launcher pro?

Absolutely not. HTC Sense widgets require an HTC framework, and this "mod" does not provide anything of the sort. It also doesn't change the status bar to black, obviously, as that is something stored in the phone's framework. This is, again, just a repackaged LP.
I assume what the OP meant was that you can use the HTC Sense "lookalike" apps that have been on the market for ages. That is, Weather Widget & Toggles, Fancy Widget, or Beautiful Widgets. These apps have been out for a long time and do not require this "mod" in any way.

Ahahaha.
Where did you see that I talked about a real Sense, there are discussions of programs and widgets like Sense, carefully read the topic, and you'll understand what's being discussed.

Version of the mod and the LP version are two different things.
Well you told a member two comments up that he could use Sense widgets using your LPP mod.
So.. Yeah.
Since Sense widgets are dependent on Rosie to work they will never work with LPP
you can find a sense dock anywhere without installing this so called "mod". I can't believe you said to the guy he can use sense widgets on launcher pro when in your op, you are clearly not using sense widgets. You even put links to those that just imitate htc sense widgets.

Yes,this is imitate, please read the topic.
Nope he meant the sense widgets, you need to read properly. And its obvious that sense widgets won't work on lpp, so why tell him it does? Also your op says nothing about imitating sense widgets.
This is a pointless mod as everyone knows you can't use sense widgets on lpp. So why give links to apps we already know.

It's not my mod, I shared, who wants to download! And it's not just the dock!
It looks horrible. The ADW mod in this forum is MUCH better
The TITLE is "HTC Sense on any Android" and is VERY misleading. Not saying that the OP os purposely misleading but reading through his posts maybe some things are lost in translation...... I agree, this is "sense-less" mod/thread!
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
well after reading these comments, i guess this is not the way to go.
So what is the best way to go about getting the htc sense clock + weather on a non htc device?
those are the only two things I want.

Has anyone ported over the HTC Thunderbolt widgets or at least the clocks? idk if anyone has seen them but they are pretty kick a$$...I know there is beautiful widgets, etc. but I think these have a clean, classy, slick look. Just curious, I have searched and didnt find anything.

if you look in my sense theme thread i have a lot of the clock apks as flashable zips
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=994561
when i revisit the theme ill add some more of them as well
also lp sense ui in the regular android app/game section imitates sense widgets about as good as can be done
Thanks, those are nice...Im running the community rom and just want some eye candy, I get bored fast. I just dl them and will try them out later...good work!
Just to let you know, the Sense Widgets on the Thunderbolt is tied to the Sense framework, so unless the rom is ported, you can't get the Widgets seperately

What would be sick is the notification panel. when pulled down, the top shows the most recently used apps. If I knew more on how to port/develop, I would do it, but I digress...

that is actually a feature that is so unpopular on sense roms that its either 1) stripped out of the roms 2) replaced with power controls
Right on. But I'm sure there are some people that would like it. I imagine it's a waste considering the native android multitasking management....plus, it's probably Huuuuuugggeee memory hog

yeah im sure some people would like it..but not worth the effort prolly imo given that its redundant with holding down the home key showing latest used apps
Exactly. Along with the long press of the home button, is there or had there been any way to get the most recently used 8 apps as opposed to the last 6? This had probably already been addressed our isn't a point of concern, so I apologize for thee possible redundancy.

Clutch from the market is a good way to be able to recall recently used aps and it makes a nice transparent widget on the home screen.
