Hero totally messed up! - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. I had my hero working fine with Fresh 2.1.2 Rom. Everything worked great until I sold the phone to a friend and he tried activating it onto his account. Sprint walked him through a bunch of stuff and now the phone turns on with the Fresh logo. Then it brings up the lock screen with any notification icons on the screen but when I slide down to unlock all I see is a white screen with the green HTC logo. I cant dial. I cant bring up apps. nothing. The phone will ring if you call my friends number but its useless right now. I tried wiping and reinstalling fresh rom but same thing happens. What do I need to do to recover ? I tried using RUU but keeps telling me phone is not found. I can use ADB because I get the phone info when I go to command prompt. I have no idea what to do . .

Addition
I also get this message as soon as I do a reinstall of Fresh rom
Sorry!
The application OMADM (process com.htc.android.omadm) has stopped unexpectedly.

Can you still reboot into recovery?

I need help in a serious way!

Ok so my G1 is jacked up appariently...
What im running is in my sig, basically what happened is i was using my phone today, the thing was working absolutely fine with no issues whatsoever, but was a little on the slow side, so i figured that i would reboot it to speed it up some
So i rebooted it, the G1 screen came up, everythings fine... Then the blue Android screen came up, everythings fine... Then the Android screen went away and instead of going to home all it did was stay on a black screen and hasent done anything whatsoever, ive tried pulling the battery and rebooting multiple times and it always hangs on this black screen... i wasent even doing anything when i was on it last, it was just a little slow so i thought ide give it a reboot...
any help would be appreciated on how to get my phone back!
Try to boot w/o the cd card. Or try to flash a nandroid backup. Or flash the newest cyan rom 4.0.4.
Sounds like it crashed on you, reboot into recovery, wipe so the whatever the problem was does not carry over and flash a new rom or try a nandroid backup if you got one. Yes this has happened to me and this should work for you
"Theme :: Open Home"
ummm is Open Home an actual theme made for cyan 4.0.2 or are you referring to the app on the market called OpenHome?

Sorry! The application Touch Input has stopped unexpectedly.

I am running Cyanogen's mod. I was running 4.2.1 for about a week+ (maybe more) when this started happening. I was using google talk when it happened. For some reason, the touch screen and keyboard began fighting. It's been crashing every five seconds ever since. I can still USE it.. but it's not functioning properly.
I updated to 4.2.13. Lo' and behold. Still broken.
How do I fix this? Full message reads:
"Sorry! The application Touch Input (process com.htc.android.htcime) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force Close"
Please help. I'm going nuts here.
It's a G1, and it is rooted. Rooted it the day I bought it and have never had problems until today.
Uninstall and reinstall. If that fails, reflash without wiping and try installing. If you're desperate, wipe and flash? I'm not sure if this is 100% correct but it's what I do when it happens.
links would be welcome. .. I want to scale back to a 'lighter' mod. That doesn't slog my phone down. Cyanogen's mod seems to have gotten worse on that front lately.

Take a spin and pick a ROM!
Donut
Wesgarner Build (cyan base)
Official Donut
Dwang
Eclair
JAC's xROM
manup
(I am not sure if manup's ROM can support HTC_IME.apk but on my phone, JAC's can)
you forgot SuperD
Ooo--before I do this, I need to do a factory reset, right? I'm a bit of a goober--I've had my buddy do this for me but I need to learn how to do it myself.
Um... factory reset? Or factory image? I don't know where to start!
if you want to clean it out completely
get the rom zip you want to install and whack it on the root of your SD card
reboot your phone into recovery (power +home)
(i'm assuming your mate flashed the cyan/amon ra recovery when he rooted it for you here)
select wipe/factory reset
select apply any zip and choose the one you've put on there
restart phone
done
You'll lose your apps/messages by doing this, but the market will remember what you've bought/downloaded to get them back, or you can back them up and restore with something like backup for root users (I've always had problems in the past - if you haven't got too many apps, redownloading them doesn't take THAT long).
Also worth noting that If you're flashing cyanogen, you have to flash the htc image first, but that's all in his thread.
Uh...
selected wipe/factory reset.
Selected xROM-Eclair-v1.0.zip
.....E:Failure at line 23: set_perm 0 0 04755 SYSTEM:xbin/busybox
Installation aborted.
Did I just nuke my phone?

No, you're fine. Try flashing again as sometimes a flash doesn't work right and it gives an error. Just flash 3 or 4 more times then come back
I finally figured out how to fix this. All you have to do is chance the Touch Input Text Entry Method to Android Keyboard. So go to Messaging, then hold the text box until is say Entry Method and change it from Touch Input to Android Keyboard. Bye Bye Force Close Message!

com.android.phone how to unstuck?

Hello,
A friend of mines recently gave me her HTC Legend because it was stuck on some loading screen.
It's isn't rooted.
She tried the OTA update for her device and since she did so, when the phone start, it doesn't ask for her pin code or what so ever, sense boot up, and then it keeps getting stuck on the loading screen when sense should appears.
Then after a few secondes it says : com.android.phone couldn't boot. Do you want to wait, force close, or send report.
I can handle my HTC hero but her legend seems different.. + without custom recovery I don't even now how to wipe or anything.
Anyway, could you FIRST tell me if there is a way, to try to re-apply the update (OTA not possible anymore since sense doesn t boot..).. or is there any chance not to wipe the phone ( cause she hasn t saved her contacts, messages etc)..
And if not.. how can I hard reset her phone (step by step please)
Thanks in advance guys!!
Use a search in the forums for the appropriate RUU.
Also, do not post questions in the development section.

Oups sorry, can a moderator move the thread?
Once i have the official RUU.. how can i flash it without a custom recovery?
I get exactly the same thing pull your sim car out start the phone up and complete all of the set up screens once you are into android turn phone off put sim back in it should work fine, but you will get a message about the sim being chanmged press clear if you press to change settings you will get another error and dont go into the apn settings or things get a little bit messy
To flash your carriers RUU, you may need a "goldcard" but turn off your phone and press the back button and power on the phone,to get to the fastboot screen, connect the phone to your pc and run the RUU.

If she recently updated to 2.2, then that's the problem. Plenty of people (me included) had this issue. No need to re-apply the OTA update or (re-)flash a ROM, just sync her contacts/calendar/mail to Google and backup apps via Astro.
Then do a factory reset and re-sync/install from backup. That's all it takes. Works like a charm after! ;-)

Phone fails to boot up properly after changing SIM

I unlocked the phone and have the cognintion ROM with Laucher Pro set to default.
Was in Europe and Asia for 3 weeks and was using a non-ATT sim. Worked fine. Actually perfectly. However, now when I put the ATT sim back in it goes into a loop with various error messages about foreclosing various application. Mainly laucher pro keeps going into failure loop now.
I am completely lost and have no clue how to fix this. Please help out..
I would flash stock using odin. backup everything you need. Then master clear. From stock you can flash whatever eoin you want and if need be unlock again

If its just LP.. try re-installing that first.. then re-flash if necessary.
How can I reinstall LP? doesn't let me get into the home screen. IF I could remove LP as default and go to samsung launcher.
Try connecting phone to computer and use ADB?
Ugh - missed that part it just keeps FC'ing all over the place and won't let you get back to your home screen eh?
Um.. you "could" remove LauncherPro using ADB - but the results could be um.. not good.
I would highly recommend figuring out if you can do a backup first then trying that as I don't want to be responsible for trashing your phone completely.
Have you tried just taking the sim out and see if it will boot to the home screen that way? If so you could do a TiBu backup and be able to remove LP that way.
Tried removing SIM and booting up. Same problem. All apps try to forceclose and goes into the same loop.
If I can make LP NOT to be the default and get me to the samsung home screen, it would solve it. But can't get into home switcher if I don't have home screen to click on.
Yup.. sounds like your going to have to re-flash to fix it.
I'd try removing LP in ADB just for giggles to see what happens. But I think your stuck here.

[Q] Perpetual "System UI has stopped working" message after changing boot animation

[Q] Perpetual "System UI has stopped working" message after changing boot animation
After changing the boot animation on my Moto X by using Matthew Pierces program Mbat my phone perpetually receives the message "unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" on startup. If I select Ok the message reappears shortly and prevents me from using my phone for more than a few seconds. When I tried to revert to stock boot animation using the program, the program tells me rm failed for /data/moodle/bootanimation.zip Any help on how to fix this???? Thanks

I have some questions for you before i can help you out
What Carrier is your Moto X
Is your Bootloader unlocked
what version of Android are you on
Moving on....
OK next what ever program you used stay away from it uninstall it asap.
Next i would download this program for locked bootloaders. to change boot animations
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590034
read the Whole first post before you do anything at all. that way you know how the app works and what to do.
Next lets get you a Bootiescreen from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417961
i know these ones work correctly.
so get everything installed and install your new BootieScreen and see if that stops the system-UI error.
If not we are going to move on to more drastic options
If you have a nandroid backup then this would be your next option if the above dose not fix your error.
if you don't have a nandroid back up then i would do a factory Reset or reinstall your firmware via RSD Lite or Bootloader/fastboot method and i know that will fix the issues.
Good luck i hope the first option fixes the issues so you dont have to start from scratch

Hello!
Thank for the really detailed response and all the help, but I just figured it out. It turns out that it was a problem with one of the modules I downloaded for the Xposed Framework. The module I downloaded wasn't compatible with my device but I didn't realize this until I rebooted my device to change the boot animation. Once I figured this out I was able to flash the Xposed-Disabler.zip and return to stock with no problems. Thanks again for all the help and I will definitely use those provided links to change my boot animation.
