Can I delete the ROM zip files after I flash them? - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering, if I have a ROM.zip file on my sd card can I delete it once I boot the ROM or does it have to stay on there?

You can delete it..............

You can delete it. The ROM isn't stored on the SD card, it's stored in system data and boot.

Hi, I had this problem once, you do not have to format your SD card, just go to your sd card, look for the folder nandroid, delete that entire folder. Plug your SD card back into your phone, go to your recovery and try again!

[Q] Use internal storage as sdcard with CM7 ? ?

Not sure if you can fully, when I booted into ClockwordMod without the SD card in it wouldn't flash the device because there was no SD card inserted. When you mount it on the PC you get the SD card and the internal memory separate, so I'm sure you can still put music on & all other sutff.
I know what you mean but I would use the internal storage as "main" storage, for exemple put pictures and games data on it, automatically, and access SD card through the "external_sd" folder.

CWM backup stored where on my SD card?

I have made a backup of my phone with CWM to my SD card. Now i want to copy that backup to my computer if my phone or SD card is broken.
What file(s) do i need to copy from the SD card and where are they located? I only need the backup file.
Do the backup file need to be copied to the exact same place on a new SD card if my existing phone/SD card gets broken?
on the external sd card under
clockworkmod\backup
And yes it's got to be put back exact or it wont work

Maybe you already know that, but with LG-P990 you need to manually enter on the bootloader (power+vol down) and start your backups/restore. The Rom Manager feature that automates this isn't working on Optimus 2X.

I do all my backups through Rom Manager.
I can make a backup with the ROM Manager but cannot restore with it. It doesnt show up in ROM manager. It does in CWM by the way. Strange.

what do yo mean it does not work? it doesn't back it up? or will perform the backup but restoring from it will make your device unusable?
It's 'cos ROM Manger looks in /sdcard and the actual backups are in /sdcard/_ExternalSD
i checked my Sd card... and back up is in sdcard... i don't have any _externalSD
_ExternalSD is the on the internal SD.

How to completly clean up my SD

Hi guys
I want to completly and safely clean up my mini's SD card from old apps' etc folders. I tried SD Maid (I'm rooted, on CM7) but it only automatically deletes several files, but not entire folders. Is there any app to do this for me?
Just look at my SD contents...more than half of these folders are from old applications
PS1: I dont want to format my SD
PS2: I also attach my internal memory, and please tell me if this is also a mess

[Q] Stock 2.1.0 bootable from sdcard

I have been trying to create the SD card. I have followed the following instructions:
"You'll need my CWM early 7.1 image that you'll need to write to an sdcard, at least 4G in size. (gunzip and use dd or winImage)
Also get the the stock image from stock-ovation-2.1.0.zip and either place it to internal storage or reboot from the card and use adb push it to /sdcard (basically it's like you install CM ROM, refer to user-friendly thread in General if you cannot follow my condensed instructions here, only use different file name). Note this already has gapps and other stuff, so you don't need any additional installs other than stock at the beginning."
However, on the SD card there is a partition with 5 files but it is only 110mb and I cannot write the ovation zip file to it. I tried using a partition manager to increase the size of the partition but that did not work. To make sure that i am doing this right I unzip the CWM early 7.1 image and use WIN32 to flash it to the SD card. How do I increas the size of the partition so I can put the ovation zip file on the SD card Thanks

You need to download that file onto your internal storage, e.g. boot your nook without the new SD card, navigate with a browser or other means, and download the file. When you later boot into the cwm on the SD card, you will see the option to apply a zip file from internal storage, and navigate to it from there. You do not want to resize any partitions on SD card.

So the SD card is bootable and the file I need to put on internal storage is the ovations zip file? So once I have rebooted applied the zip is the B&N operating system installed on the SD card so I can delete the zip file on internal memory? Thanks I bought the Nook HD+ rooted and I want to deregister it from the previous owner and register it in my name. I assume this would be the way to do it without returning the Nook to stock. Thanks

Do you have his screenname and password? You will need it to register it on SD and then you can deregister.
