I have, I use the Wireless tether app with the bluetooth PAN setup. You need to re-pair your phone with the MBP while the tethering is turned on for it to detect and setup the Bluetooth PAN stuff. I was unable to reliably to get the Wi-Fi setup to work reliably and have found the bluetooth works a treat...
YMMV, hope this helps..!
Works fine with both wifi and bluetooth on my Macbook.
Thanks for your replies. I haven't got mine yet because I just ordered it yesterday and it will still take a few days to get here, but I had tried once with a friend's and couldn't get it working. I'll post back when it arrives.
Anyone had luck with a wired tether? Cyanogen's built in one is apparently Windows only (maybe Linux too, I'm not sure). But I'm on Modaco's r21 now anyways. Tried PDA net too, but it errors out on my OS X client...not sure what went wrong there
You have the pdanet client installed on the computer also right? I know for a fact the built in and wired-tether for root users is only compatible with windows and linux.
I would try to use a virtual machine and bridge the connection, that could work.
Wired tether works flawlessly on linux. I'm sure there's some file in Mac (it's Unix after all) which can be edited to make it detect the nexus as some kind of modem. Any mac expert over here?
Jumping on board hoping for a tethering solution for macs with CM
I use wireless tether and it works flawlessly on my MBP! It is straightforward, you fire up wireless tether on the Nexus and the MBP will see it as a wireless hotspot! Select the Android wireless hotspot on your MBP using your Airport and your off and running. Could not be easier! I am using Enom's Official 1.8.1 rom!
I use PDANet over BT with my MBP and it works fine.

Is the wireless tethering feature included in CM 5.0.6?
I use PdaNet. Its worked with minimal setting. But it's trial version.
You mean tethering apps? If you're rooted either install wireless tethering for root users or flash to 2.2, in which wireless hotspot is built in.
I have wireless tethering and usb tethering app in my rooted 2.1 right now. But for some reason, they are not working.
If you describe how exactly are they "not working" (symptoms etc) - people might be able to help you to get them working. For example, I found out the hard way that Windows XP with my old laptop WiFi drivers wouldn't connect to WEP-protected access point no matter what I did.
i use barnacle, it works for what i use it for
Anyone here with a cr-48 been successful at connecting with a wireless tether app with the captivate? I am having trouble getting it to work.
I cannot get my CR-48 to connect to my DINC either, I am running Cyanogen 6.1 with the wireless tether. So I would like to know if you have found anything regarding this situation.
lucky bastards.. i'd love one of those..
Anyone have some luck on this?
Yeah, I have a droid eris rooted running a cyanogen mod rom and an unable to get the wireless tether to work on my cr-48 either. It connects to my ipad just fine so I'm assuming it is the computer. Though thinking about it, I had issues connecting it to my other laptop running linux (ubuntu 10.10) so maybe it is something in the linux build.
I think it's because wireless tether uses adhoc. I have read that people can get it to work through usb, but that is no fun. I am trying it on a Droid X. I submitted a bug feedback asking Google if the CR-48 supports adhoc and if that is the issue.
i am currently using my cr48 via the wireless hotspot app on my htc desire - leedroid v2.2f - connects without a problem but i don't have 3G in my area so it's very slow.
Hi, I'm trying to use wired tether on my tbolt but in my computer in getting the error limited or no connectivity any ideas why?
Me too. How do we tbolt users get wired tether to work?
What version you guys trying? I am using 2.0.7 and it works great.
I'm using 1.4 from this page: http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/downloads/list
my bad wired.
Been having this issue all day. Downloaded another tethering app and its working great. In fact, pages lot faster.

I tried this and it fails to "Identify" in windows.
I can't seem to get this to work either, I would rather use this than the Internet Connection Mode
Anyone make any progress on this issue yet?
I'm having a similar issue. When I use Wired Tether, some of my applications cannot connect to the internet. My web browsing and e-mail works fine. When I connect via Wireless Tether, everything seems to work correctly. One particular application I'm struggling with is Tradestation. It logs me in fine, but cannot retrieve any market data it just says "loading" forever. However, when I connect to Wireless Tether, it loads instantly. Any ideas? I'm using this with Windows 7 x64 Professional. It installed the NDIS drivers included with the OS by default.
EDIT: I tried connecting with a USB760, and it works fine via dial-up and NDIS settings. No issues. I've also used a UML290 before and had no issues. Seems to be isolated to Wired Tether. Also, I had the same issue with the HTC Incredible.
I am unable to get the Wireless Tether to work, maybe something with my wireless card, but are there any working USB tethering apps?

In the settings of the WiFi tether app, enable "Routing fix" and it should work. It's necessary for HTC devices.
I can connect to it but Windows 7 is constantly sitting there saying 'Identifying' but I can never get internet.
I tried it on my Lenovo, as well as a Sony Viao.
I enabled Routing Fix as well.
Any ideas?
What version of the wireless tether app are you using. Try using different versions.

I've had this issue too but mostly with AOSP roms with built in wireless tether apps. I see you asked for a wired tether app so heres one http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/downloads/list I know this works with CM7 cause I use it from time to time
A wireless tether app that worked for me is called "A Wifi Tether AP Mesh Client" made by Open Garden, Open Source. Worked every time for me.
I'm running the most recent stock rooted, that wired tether app does not work for me.
I would also like an app that works
Yes, I use an app called easytether (well I used to, before I rooted), its easy to set up and works great. Unfortunately I think it was removed from the app store as were the other usb tethering apps, but you can just go on 4shared and download it, and the app will tell you what to do from there

I have used both wireless and wired tether that is built in to CM7 with success, every time I have used them. You should give them a try.

I like PDANet, its free unless you need to use it for secured logins, vpn, ect.
Just Google wired tether made by the same people as wireless tether and if u can't find it there look on 4shared.com

Rooted, runny SynergyMod (Android 2.3.4), I was able to get Open Garden to work. Free in the market.
I'm using pda net without an issue.
For wired tether I use easytether pro
For those having problems with wifi tether....There is a trick to getting wifi tether to work. Turn wifi tether on and wait 5 seconds. Then turn wifi tether off. Once it stops, immediately turn it back on. Then connect to "androidtether" in your PC's wireless manager.
Enjoy
I ran across this thread looking for wireless apps, so I'll just say that barnacle works just fine (rooted Thunderstick GB 1.5)

The OP was asking for wired ones though
That being said, the wired tether app with cm7 works just fine for me.
