Inbox Storage Limit reached. HELP! - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

My Inbox [SMS account only, ActiveSync/mails are empty] has 34340 messages. My sent has about 29080. Inlcuding all subfolders and their messages, the total is about 69550 approx.
It seems this is the maximum my inbox can handle. I cannot "reply" or "forward" texts or create any new. the options simply do not work until I delete a text or two - which is what i hv been doing for now.
My phone seems to have SUFFICIENT MEMORY currently for a lot more texts. From the memory tab: Storage: 26.64mb free. Program : 15.32mb free.
The phone runs Windows Mobile 2003 SE. i-mate Pocket PC.
Is there a way to allocate more to inbox? IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET IN MORE MESSAGES ?
IMPORTANT: I AM NOT WILLING TO DELETE ANY TEXT AT ALL. DO NOT SUGGEST THAT OPTION
*help*

It sounds like you've hit the maximum file limit within a folder, considering you've reached over 65000 files, that sounds akin to 16bit limitations. The only real option I can see is if you back up your text messages to another storage medium and clear the memory away.
I know you've said that you don't want to delete anything but that's the only solution I can see. I suppose you can use PIM backup and store the texts in a binary file on a memory card etc but it would mean that you cant view them readily.
That's all I can suggest, hope something works. (I cant say I'm right though, I could be talking out of my arse here, I'm just going by a gut feeling).
Out of curiosity though, how have you managed to rack up a total of 65000 messages? That sounds insane!

I googled a bit, and i've figured i can fit in more messages if I change the storage location from "Windows\Messaging" to anything on my SD Card.
There is a registry key which needs to be edited for this. But So far i haven't been able to find it on the internet, or by myself.
Any help with that will be greatly appreciated.
and 65000? Lol. I do an average of 800-950 texts a day

A couple of really strange issues - Please Help!

Hey all,
so i have two very strange issues...
1. Bluetooth OBEX - I can send FROM the phone to any device (That supports it) but I cannot send anything TO the phone from any device. Typically i will get a generic "Device does not support OBEX" error message
-- I have tried sending paired, and not paired
-- I have verified that filesharing is on, and all of my bluetooth options are enabled
2. SMS's not in order - When I installed my current rom (see my sig) And used PIM restore to put my SMS's back, they are not in the order that the conversation happened. If you look @ each day. the messages appear their's first for the day, then mine... its kinda weird.
-- In some instances I dont even see the messages that were sent to me. When I tried making PIMBackup to restore the messages again it said they were already there. I have received some new SMS"s that I dont want to wipe out if I can avoid it but i've never seen this before and it makes no sense
Another thing.. where do I edit the size of text on context menu's ? (asside from the start menu which was using LargeStartMenu)

Hi there,
1.Not all devices are bluetooth 2.0 compliant and I have the same problem sending from older devices.
2. SMS's order can be set in main screen. Select Received on top right
3.Text size can be changed under Start>Settings>System>Screen
There is a tab for font size at the bottom with a slide bar. I have set mine to 2nd last notch from right.
Hope this helps.

Hey MAC, thanks for the reply
for the bluetooth item, this is from my brand new dell laptop or even another att tilt. Even my friends 8125 that was working on some other roms i have problems with now.
the SMS issue is not on the inbox screen its on the actual message history screen. So if I click on an item in my inbox it brings up the coversation thread. In there it shows all of my friends messages first then the ones I sent in reply so instead of .... them... me .. .them.. me. its them... them.. them.. me .. me.. me ... its kind of weird
I had already checked the text size on the screen page. It was set to normal, but the menu's are still huge (see screenshot)

I see re the bluetooth issue. Nt sure as my laptop sends and receives fine from my TyTN II.
If you are using threaded sms then I can't help as I have normal one.
I see you are also using WK Task which comes with the Kaiser. I have removed that and opted for Quickmenu. It is MUCH better, smaller and gives you cascading menus like in Windows XP/Vista. It is also freeware. (File attached). Just place all the files in the zip archive to a folder anywhere on your device, create shortcut if you want, but I suggest you place a shortcut in the startup folder.

Yah I've been working on the BT issue since yesterday with no luck
I am using threaded SMS which is why its annoying me that the messages are not appearing in order...
I use WK task in tandem with QuickMenu... I love quick menu, but I still cant figure out how to fix the font sizes... its every context menu not just the tray apps... even my resco context menu is huge and i have to scroll it to do stuff its kind of irritating
Thanks for the suggestions tho, I hope someone has a solution for me, I really like this rom and dont want to change it
Ok So I just discovered that I am completely retarded and forgot to check the "Accept all incoming beams" option in the beam control panel applet... now, how do I go about fixing my SMS messaging issue and chaning the fonts for the menus? They are HUGE!
Thanks in advance!

Yup when I restore my Messages its not in order. I truly believe its because of how PIM restores the Messages. All Received First Then all Sent. So to the Device it IS in order. I've posted this thought in the PIM Backup thread. I don't think they've got it figured out yet. Sorry.

Actually I just finished fixing the PIM Backup issue too.. its kind of a known issue with 6.1 If you restore everything but your messaging DB. Clear your messaging DB in the messaging app. Terminate the messaging app process then run PIM restore... run the messaging app and let it rebuild the threads it seems to work.. Also make sure that you set your regional date settings to what your normally set it to BEFORE you run PIM backup... some people believe that this may also be the issue.... so process is...
1. Flash
2. Restore all of your data using PIM backup EXCEPT messages
3. Open messaging and clear your SMS boxes
4. Terminate the messaging application
5. Do your PIM Restore
6. Open mesaging
Worked for me!
1 more issue to go and thats the large menu font size!
here is the thread (and post) I found it on : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1903404&highlight=Create+threads.#post1903404

Default storage for text messages..

Hi guys, when I first got this phone it was super fast. now everything is super slow and I suspect its due to me putting all my 4000 text messages onto the phone.
Is it possible through registry or something to shift all the messages onto a memory card?
I dont want to delete them really.
Many thanks,
P.S anyone know any software for moving and viewing text messages on a PC?
I will never understand why people keep 4000 text messages.
Jeyo Mobile Companion (I think) will sync your text messages into MS Outlook on your PC. Then you can archive them there.
after backing up all my messages and PIM data. I realise its less than 2mb. therefore it can't be slowing the phone down.
must just be a slow phone, thought it was very fast to start with though, especially the HSPDA

Text memory full...?

Ive had an alert twice now in the 2 months if having my nexus saying "message memory full" when I receive a sms. I cant retrieve the message even after I delete every one of my threads. The first time this happened, I got an sms that couldn't come through resulting in catastrophe the next day because I didn't get to read it.
The thing is, when it happened about 10 minutes ago, i only had about 5 threads with 6 or 7 messages in each. I would deliberately delete everything regularly to stop the memory full message coming up. But i got it did just then, and the sms hasn't come through.
Surely the limit on this thing isnt 100 messages or so?
If it matters, im also getting a "Phone storage space getting low" alert in the notification bar, but according to settings ive got about 18 mb left and 500 mb left on the sd card.
Im stumped...any way to retrieve my message in the meantime?
Make sure you don't have any text messages saved on the SD card.
i think it might be sim card messages that are full. go into setting on the sms app and manage sim card messages
Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I'm having the same issue right now. I have no messages stored on my sim card and 10 messages in my inbox. My phone still says my text message memory is full.
How was this issue resolved the first time?
Thanks

It is your memory on the phone that is full, not specifically text message memory. You are probably down to 20mb or 10mb left of storage. Remove an app or clear your browser cache to free up some room. If you use Pandora, it could have ballooned to a huge size.
Wow, that did it. I gotta keep my browsers in check next time. Sorry I didn't think of that. Thanks for your help.

[Q] Internal memory bit by bit

Hi
I just deleted by accident a whole thread of text messages.
I know I can't recover the text messages as a nice thread back on my phone.
What I am trying to do however is to access *all* of the internal memory.
Make some sort of raw dump of the whole internal memory (where text messages are stored as well) and browse it with a hex editor in the hope of finding pieces of my text messages with my gf.
Is it possible ? are there better solutions ?
Thanks
I have no idea if this is possible or not, but if you value your text messages so much, you should seriously consider using an app such as SMS Backup to backup all your messages to gmail automatically, like I do.
I am aware I had to back up and how to do it... but I just wanted to know how I could access *all* of the internal drive of my phone even the supposed 'free' space... ?

[Q] Transferring large amount of txts from iphone to HTC one

Hi Guys,
I have a issue moving large amount of iPhone messages to HTC one, the HTC Sync Manager moves most of the them but some of the threads are not complete and others are missing. We are talking like around 100,000 messages going back a couple of years.
Is there any software out there that can complete this process better than the HTC Sync Manager. Maybe move a chunk at a time instead of the full 100,000?
Cheers
There is a program called Backuptrans iPhone SMS + MMS to Android Transfer may help. It lets you transfer messages with a single contact only at a time. Try it.
But I don't know if your HTC One Messaging app can deal with 100,000 messages. It may load the messages very slow.
Good luck!

In my opinion, no one needs to have that many messages saved on their phone. They are way better off backing them up somewhere online for possible later use. Also, I can pretty much confirm that the messaging app won't work. I have about 5000 messages or a little less and the app is already unbearably slow. So 100,000 will simply make it unusable.
