Is there a way or an app to password protect the Home-Settings button?
My kid keeps messing with my phone and it is something that needs to be locked down.

Can't you just enable password security on your phone? Or if you want your child to use the phone but not access the settings then try the link below.
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-carrotapp-protectpronew-Attn.aspx
Thank you, just what I needed!
Installed, and well worth the $1.99 for the app!! No longer do I need to worry about the kid messing up my phone. Thank you!
I like to use the back of my hand. That prevents my kids from changing my settings and it's free.

Too funny..... That would work for my 8yr old son just fine.
However my nieces who are special needs and mildly autistic it will not work for.

Not only is it not needed, it couldn't possibly do anything since it wouldn't have any access to anything it would need to scan.

Assuming that such a ridiculous thing even existed (there are scams on the market that claim to be antivirus programs -- they're NOT), it WOULD.
This is NOT MICROSHAFT. Forget everything you know about viruses.

While I agree with lbcoder, the "MICROSHAFT" comment was unhelpful and unnecessary. Ever heard of/used an anti-virus product on a WinMo phone? Nope. Me either.
And for the record... Linux and OSX have viruses as well.
Don't worry about a virus on your Android phone.

i've heard of at least one, but i can't remember the name of it.
a job i was doing some years ago saw the boss and myself using imate jasjams (HTC TyTN?).
my boss managed to locate an antivirus app for the phone and installed it.
no idea how well it worked. i didn't bother with it.
Symantec had/has one for WinMo. I used it for a while. But it was more of a gimmick than anything else. Never seen a virus or a positive scan.
I would say because of the nature of Android we shouldnt see much in terms of viruses, however the system leaves much too control to trojans imho.
read bout this new app from droidsecurity called virusfree, meant to be good. They also offer a phone tracking service so you can remote wipe the memory if it's lost or stolen, that sounds pretty handy as I've previously had a phone stolen and it's a pain to change passwords etc

The system leaves absolutely NO control to trojans.

You clearly don't understand the difference in the system architecture when compared to that BS that most people commonly use because thats what their computer came with. I'm not going to bother trying to explain it to you since you clearly are not receptive to knowledge.
Briggs, looks like you hit a nerve there, why don't you go and educate yourself young man
lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.
wouldn't virsus be possible if they do manage to get root access? I know a few of the customized ROMs require no notification for applications to gain root status. I am sure with root, an application can some how manage to do some damage. rm -r /sdcard anyone?
Ok I am still a little unsure of how this whole google thing is gonna play out. So my question is: when the new ota update comes out with the new market app and all the updated google apps am I going to have to unroot my phone to get them and then reroot. I used the one click root app because all the other guides I found were very confusing. I know that the flaw that allowed the 1 click to work was fixed. So if I unroot to get the updates then I am gonna have to reroot thru the confusing means. I really don't want to do that cause I am afraid I might [email protected] something up. Please tell me there is an easier way to get the google app updates.
I am sure there will always be a way to "magically" get these apps. Don't worry too much about it.

You can edit your title by going to "Go Advanced" or something like that... LOL I was like "dripped Knox"!? Yup! Flash TWRP and call it a day cause that's the best way anyhow.

Thanks haha, and I tripped it flashing twrp actually. I just wanted to see how far I could push the phone before knox tripped. I knew twrp would trip it, I was just bored.
Well bye bye samsung pay whenever you come out. At least until we have a work around.

Welcome to the rebel alliance man.
I say Samsung can suck a dong. I'll take liberty in functionality over samsung pay anyday. Knowing Samsung it'll be a ****ty app anyway. I can't argue, I like samsung's hardware and phone design especially with the S6 but **** me samsung software sucks.
edit: I'm assuming you can figure out the whole rooting/custom recovery/custom rom setup but if you need help feel free to pm me I'd be glad to help

Agreed. I used Google wallet maybe twice...
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA Free mobile app
I used Google wallet a few times when it first came out too, and lost interest because of trying to find a reader that took it. But with Samsung's pay it (supposedly) works with any card machine, NFC or not. I'll be using it everywhere if its true.
I was curious about Samsung pay, but having root is more important to me. If someone finds a way to get Samsung pay working without Knox, that's great. If not, oh well. It is just as easy for me to pull out my credit card as it is to swipe my phone.
One of my roommates connected to my Home mini one afternoon and broadcasted some rather obnoxious audio of a rather.... adult nature. Needless to say, I yelled at him for tampering with something that wasn't his. Now I've been wondering why the hell I can't remove his Google account from the Home system. Anyone know how to do this?

What do you mean, how? There's only one way to, and that's to hold the button by the power cable until it confirms.
