Any way at all to keep browser open in background so that I can lock it and have something streaming still? I've been listening to radio 1 from the BBC and I always have to keep it unlocked and have the browser open....

You using it over wifi? Its probably the wifi going to sleep. Try changing its sleep policy (settings-> wireless -> wifi settings -> menu -> advanced
No just while driving around on 3g. I wanna stream a show in the browser and be able to be on my home screen.

the phone is probably going to sleep. I guess the browser isnt able (by design) to keep the phone awake.
You might be better off with a internet radio app?
Yeah I wanna be able to have the browser stay open and stream when I go to check a text. I figure people. Would want to know how to do this since we have flash now ya know? Trying to find an app now..
We'll see.

I think its a battery saver. Unless u mod the browser its unlikely u'll find a simple solution.
I thought beebplayer did radio too?
also there's an app called UKRadio that should work too
I'm trying to stream bbcs radio one. Well the shows that are available from the previous week that is.

Beebplayer worked like a charm for streaming radio and putting the phone to sleep. Not used it since installing FroYo but have the .apk on my PC. I might try it tomorrow and see if it works.
beebplayer radio streaming works in froyo (frf91). Works in background while you do other things, etc. It's discontinued now but I have the .apk if anyone wants it. Just pm me your email.
It's better than the official bbc option (which means you can't turn off your screen, reply to a message/email without it closing).
Skyfire allows me to keep any stream going on play in the background even after I go to home screen!!!! Thanks for the help though.

I know there are apps out there that make your android phone into a webcam when on WIFI but is there one that will also allow it over 3G.
Basically allowing you to view it as anyother webcam, from anywhere over the web? And possibly use dyndns.org.
No sure if there is an app that would allow that and if there is I would like to have it tho.. but what I know is that this thread is in the wrong section....!!!

Pretty sure the app "Tango" Does this
I assume you've tried droidcam? I know I've used it to make my dinc a webcam for my laptop but that uses wifi.
Are you trying to use it as a computer webcam or doing video chat directly from the phone? The reason most require wifi is of the insanity that running the app through the tower ip and ports vs your personal wifi ports and local ip.

Hey, I don't know if any of you use airdroid to sync files via wifi, but I downloaded it because wifi file transfer quit working for me. However, this doesnt work either. My browser will say can't to server (have tried multiple browsers). I emailed support, but was wondering if any of you had some insight?
Adfree or adaway wouldn't effect this would they?
Thanks
AirDroid worked fine for me using the default port (and Chrome) . It's possible (and, I think, likely) that your router settings are blocking it in some way. Check those settings or change the port AirDroid uses.
Silly Question: Phone is connected to same wifi network and not using data connection, right?
I've also used File Expert's FTP share to transfer files a good bit. It works well and has an FTP client built-in so you can share between phones too.

I've been using samba filesharing without any issues from stock through revolt and now ginger 1.3. Definitely give it a shot.

it will be implemented in the next version of Null.
He has it working (pdanet) go read on it in the last couple of pages, up to the sticky versions....
I did get the foxfi bluetooth tether to work, you have to install the tablet app on the gear (I did have to change the font scalling for the app to see everything to get it connected)....It works for the browser and amazon app store but for some reason when you try to download apps it says there is not internet access. The download manager also.says no internet access.....but the browser works great including youtube in browser.

I just tried PDAnet+ Pro on my Note 2 from Sprint and PDAnet Tablet on my gear, I received a constant data connection on the browser, however...I cant seem to get a data connection on Google Maps. I also tried Spotify, worked great to stream music but I couldn't get my playlist.

Im not sure why some apps can use the connection and some can't....
Indeed, it would have to be with the way bluetooth tethering routes the data connection.
Try my guide. I got it working on Verizon without native phone tethering and I can use the google play store/Netflix

So I am rather new to this and I just successfully rooted my boost sm-j700p today... I want to get a hotspot going on it and was wondering if there is an app I should download or change the APN settings myself. What would be recommended here?
