[Q] Problems with IE & WiFi... - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

I can not connect to the internet with the WiFi on my Tilt 2.
Configure a new Connection in Start> Settings> Connections> Connections (so do not take the GPRS or 3G)
My connection at work using Proxy (I added the Connection Proxy to create "Internet")
I try to browse with IE or Opera and not connected.
I tried to connect to open wireless mall and I could not surf the Internet (no proxy settings or IPs).
Synchronize Tilt 2 with the PC (via ActiveSync) and if you can navigate (because when you synchronize the PC, shares the Internet)
Does anyone know why this happens?
I have read that is related to the configuration of the power (battery power), Is it true?
THANK YOU.

T-Mobile MDA WiFi vs. GPRS data plan settings

I have been reading WiFi threads on here for hours but can't seem to find the right answer.
I have a WiFi network at home that I can connect to when enabling Wi-Fi through the Comm Manager. My Wizard is running Xelencin's T-Mobile USA 2.26 Custom ROM (Wizard/MDA).
The problem is, when I'm at home and fire up Pocket IE, the phone tries to connect using GPRS rather than my WiFi connection. What I want is for Pocket IE to use WiFi when I'm connected to WiFi, and GPRS at other times.
Many posts reference going to Start > Settings >Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks, and changing the settings for "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet..." to either "My ISP" or "My Work Network".
I have 4 items listed in these drop-downs:
My ISP
T-Mobile Data
T-Mobile MMS
My Work Network
When I look at the settings for "My ISP" there is one connection defined called "T-Mobile WModem Link" that is set to use the modem "Cellular Line (GPRS) and access point name "wap.voicestream.com"
The settings for "My Work Network" don't show a connection listed at all. If I create a new one, my options for selecting a "modem" are:
Bluetooth
Cellular Line
Cellular Line (GPRS)
Generic IrDA
Hayes Compatible on COM1:
None of these seems to be right for a WiFi connection.
The settings for "T-Mobile Data" are the same as the settings for My ISP except the connection is called "T-Mobile Data"
The settings for "T-Mobile MMS" are also the same (GPRS and wap.voicestream.com).
It seems like T-Mobile is blocking me from using Wi-Fi as the default internet connection. I really like this ROM and would prefer not to change it. Can anyone help?
with my Wizard as long as i'm connected to a wifi network (and i have an IP address and gateway from that network) it will browse with it... only when i'm not on any network connected to the internet (including via USB Active sync) does it connect using gprs. The "My ISP" conenction is configured for my GPRS Network.
Somehting i can suggest is that you open Network Adapters, select your WLAN Wireless Adapter and choose "this network card connect me to The Internet"
good luck!
PS make sure the wifi network your conecting has a shared internet connection... if its not shared your phone will use GPRS even if its connected.

I have no problem browsing with Wifi. My wireless connection isnt the issue. My problem is not being able to make Wi-Fi, my default internet connection.
I think this works
I think this is the thread that solved it for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=261438&highlight=internet+wifi+gprs
To be fair, I usually have to try a couple of settings to get it to work automatically, but eventually I do.
No luck for me. I think I'm just going to have to learn how to cook a custom extended rom without the "T-Mobile_Network_Customizations.cab", and then hard reset. Is there a simple way to delete that cab file from the extended rom and also make that change to the "Config.txt" file (in the extended rom)? Anytime I try making changes to the extended rom via Total Commander, all the files in the extended rom end up looking garbled.

Access internet via ActiveSync, not 3G

Sorry, this may be a dumb question...
How do you stop the Kaiser from accessing 3G (or WiFi) whilst connected to a PC via ActiveSync. So, duing the day it would use 3G, however when connected via ActivSync at night it would use the PC connection to the internet for all downloads, MS Exchange sync, etc
thanks!
There is a setting in activesync that will disallow all 'wireless' connections while the device is connected. In this case, I believe they mean 3g, gprs, wifi, etc. will all be disabled. It is under 'Connection Settings'.

For me, i would like the reverse.
I'm setting up activesync to connect to Exchange servers (mail2web), but in the connection settings, i can only see the choice "Internet" and nothing else (ie. my GPRS sets)
Thus, I can only get emails pushed to me when i am on WIFI, but not GPRS.
The only way i can make it happen is at START/SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS where i set "All programs that automatically connects to internet .." to my GPRS set, but not "MY WORK NETWORK"
but if i set it to my GPRS set, if i were to accidentally surf web when wifi is not on, it would incurr GPRS charges ..
any idea?
On the same topic...
I used to be able to surf the web on the HTC 8125, using the laptop's internet connection, using the USB cable. I can no longer do this? Any ideas? What happens now it that it the phone conects to GPRS automatically, apparently it can not detect the internet from the laptop...
Thx in advance.

is this setting perhaps the setting you need to turn on on your pc?
this allowed me to be active sync connected to my pc but the phone browsed via Cell Service rather than via my pc.

If your service provider uses a proxy setting on your phone to connect then you have to set up the same proxy in your web browser on your laptop.

[TIP] Set-up Diamond to connect to Internet via PC's wireless

It might be known allready but I thought to share this since I didn't saw it here explained and maybe others are wondering if it's possible. If it's discussed already, please delete/move the thread.
So it's about setting up Diamond (I think it's working well with other WinMo devices, though not tested) to connect to Internet using an Internet connection available on the PC/Laptop and the wireless of that PC/Laptop.
1. First create a wireless network on the PC, using the "setup a connection or network" wizard (tested on Windows Vista).
2. Choose "Set-up a wireless ad-hoc network" and follow the steps. For increased security, choose for ex Open, WEP encryption and a passkey. Give this network a name as you desire
3. Setup your existing Internet connection (on the PC) to be shared
4. Connect (from PC) to the wireless ad-hoc network. After connecting, it should say "Waiting for users to connect"
5. Start wireless connection on your Diamond. The scan will bring up the newly created network.
6. Choose "connect" and provide the pass-key you defined when creating it
7. If 6. is not working, you could define that new wireless network on your Diamond, as you do with a normal network. Don't forget to check "ad-hoc" network in the settings screen
After connecting, you should be able to browse the net using the computer's Internet connection via wireless...that allows you to have the PC/Laptop in one room and with someone working on it (as it is my case), while you are in the vicinity (they say in a 30 m radius) and use the Diamond to browse the net. I found it usefull.
good tip, this will be useful indeed.
Ah thanks, but can you do this in reverse? I.e. Have your phone act as the wifi card and use the PC to browse the internet through a usb connection to your phone, and have your phone connected to the wifi in your house?

Sharing Wifi connection (internet) over USB cable???

I have two ways to go on internet on XPERIA (GPRS and WIFI)
When i connect my X1 with pc via USB cable i enable Interet Sharing. So i can go to internet on my PC via XPERIA.
Problem is that i can only choose GPRS connection. There are also Bluetooth and COM3 stuff but that is irrelevant. There is no Wifi connection.
Any ideas
I have the same problem. I can connect to my router, but when I´m opening the opera or explorer the phone connects to gprs. And I can´t choose wifi either. Strange.
Have you tried manually creating a Network Connection? I can see 4 different connections avaialble in the drop-down box, including one I'd created myself with the 3g settings of my operator.
Using that one, I see the "H" icons in the top bar.

internet connection problem

I have this strange problem connecting to the internet:
My situation.
I have a HTC TYTNII that connects to the internet using Vodaphone in the Netherlands.
Its my business phone and we have special settings for our phones internet connection.
- connection is trough "Cellular line (GPRS, G3)" and an accespoint "business.blabla"
then
- we have proxy settings, but only for "HTTP" in which we have to set our username and password
The strage thing is that some programs connects with no problem while others seem to activate the 3G connection, but then dont connect for some reason.
programs that do connect:
- Internet explorer
- outlook email
programs that dont connect:
- QuickGPS
- SeaSGEE.exe (quick position for GPS)
- Opera mobile and mini
please help. Anybody know what the problem could be?
