Radio properties - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Where can i see what properties a certain radio image has (fer example 4.06.00.12_7)?

"about phone" Baseband says what radio you have. Closest thing to properties is when you put *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer.

wifi n
my ultimate goal is to have wifi n/801.11n. I read an article on androidandme that says cyanogen put it in his repo. so if it has been implemented into one of his roms, can i extract the update and apply it on my phone without installing cyanogenmod rom? (I'm running frf72 rooted)

CWM flashable radios?

Hi,
I'm under the impression that the radio is different from the modem, therefore my previous efforts to fix a problem with the auto-connection to HSDPA/3G were somewhat in vein. If I am correct in this, it could be the reason that my "phone information" settings won't stick (revert to default) and my phone, once connected to EDGE, will not automatically reconnect to HSDPA/3G.
Would someone be so kind as to point me in the direction of CWM-flashable radios? If needed, I am on the AT&T network (U.S.) with the international GT-I9000. ROM and kernel are in the signature, modem is JPY but flashing to the U.S. modem made no difference.
Thank you for your help or even your attention on the matter. I plan to write this up as a tutorial for this very problem should this solve the issue which I believe it will.
All the information you need is here:

It's telling me it's a bad link. I'll try to receive it through search and post the link if I get it.
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9579987&postcount=11945
I flashed JPP to see if that can fix the issue as it's compatible with the U.S. I'll edit again once I go outside in order to see if it auto connects to HSDPA once I'm out there. It's a good test IMHO as I only have the 1900mhz band of wcdma therefore it doesn't penetrate the walls of my place of work.
edited the post above to fix the URL
I went out and checked. It still requires me to go into wcdma only and then back to wcdma/gsm in order to get hsdpa, also, the changes in phone information still don't stick. I need the actual radio file in a CWM flashable zip. Also, after changing modems to JPP, speed test doesn't work. I'll just uninstall from the market and re-install since the data connection is still works and see if there is any improvement on that front.
Which one is the radio file as opposed to modem file .

EDIT: It's in the modem but not included with the modem as far as I know. Specifically, I need to flash a new Radio Image zip file. I found some through cyanogenmod but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to use those as they may only be working with cyanogenmod ROMs.
Modems and CSC files flash from an update zip via the rom kitchin .

I edited the post. Those modems don't contain an updated radio image or any radio image, i think. It's more a matter of finding the right radio image file to flash.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940095 It's midway through the first post. I'm not sure if I should flash it with Darky's ROM or not since it's cyanogenmod but I think as long as I switch to the JPY modem it should be fine.
Interesting.... I did some reading on the kitchen modems and apparently they flash a new radio image in the modem where others don't. I looked at my status through "about phone" and my IMEI SV changed from 01 to 02. When I get back outside to where I know I have HSDPA access, I will report on whether this fixes the lack of auto connect to HSDPA from EDGE.
There is no such thing as a radio for galaxy s devices, that is a htc phone term.
Instead, we have modems. The issue you're talking about is probably rom related.

So, you're saying a re-flash of the ROM then.... I think I've had this issue since Darky's 9.2 and I've flashed through the betas and I'm on 9.3 stable now. I have also done a wipe but not a repartition in Odin. I think Odin is a cleaner install then CWM but it's just so convenient to flash right from the phone. I guess I'll do that then.
Thanks.

[Q] How to get mobile networks working on Milestone Cyanogenmod?

I just flashed kabaldans Cyanogenmod 7.1.4 coming from 7.1.1. Like I've done many times, changed baseband to "Venezuela - Mobilnet" in OR, updated google apps and everything.
But now my phone says "Emergency calls only", when I check the network operators option it only shows one of the three operators in my country, and the one that my phone is registered to does not show up. Ive tried reflashing the baseband 5 times but the result is the same, still can't connect to the network for calls, much less data.
EDIT: I flashed 7.1.1 and the network works just fine..
if you've tried setting Baseband, why don't you go ahead and file a bug at http :// code.google.com /p/cyanogenmod4milestone/issues (sorry, new user, can't post links...) so kabaldan/nadlabak can fix it?
I would definitely try reflashing to the newest and using openrecovery to flash the baseband onto it. I can't imagine that would have been a broken feature.

[Q] Rogers Raider (Holiday) Wi-Fi Issues

i had a smooth running Raider device (doing LTE speeds) on Rogers ROM. After unlocking the boot loader and then pushing CWM... and further trying custom ROM, somewhere inbetween, i lost LTE and now only get 3G / H.. Not that big an issue so far... What i did find out now is that I am unable to start Wi-Fi on the phone, when I go to check Wi-Fi under Settings->Wireless Networks, it shows "Error" where typically you will see which network name one is connected to....
What can i do to fix this, its driving me crazy... tried the web for the past 3-4 hrs... found nothing that can help direct me to the issue.... please please need some direction
Your kernel local version does not match the Radio version used in the custom ROM. Make sure you flash the correct ROM (The radio and everything should match). If you are trying to compile your own kernel, you can see the correct LOCAL_VERSION to use by typing the following commands:
adb shell
su
cat /proc/kmsg
When you click on WiFi, the kmsg should give an output like this:
"Version mismatch. Version 'x', should be 'y'"
(I dont remember the exact message)
You would need to put this version 'y' in your config file and compile your kernel using that

[Q] CM9 self compiled - no sim card detected

Hello
I've successfully compiled CM9 from the source and i can flash it.
But it doesn't detect my sim card and i have no network(wifi works)
It say unknown baseband, I've tried baseband 218,313,1120 and the correct rils but nothing happens. I also have no apns in the settings and i can not save new apns.
Does someone have a idea what i do wrong or have a solution for this problem?
Sorry for my bad english
Hello Che4ter,
had the same problem with my Unofficial CM9 Build,
it`s easy to fix:
in build.prop, find the line: ro.modversion=9.0.0-RC0-p990-UNOFFICIAL (near the buttom) and just delete it, and your baseband is working.
(I`ve got this info from owain94, so all credits goes to him or the person who found this out.)
I`ve just one question, (don`t want to open an other threat)
How can I get the Build Version shown at system settings -> about phone, like in owain`s Build or Nova HD Rom?

[Q] No network connection and IMEI unknown

My phone specs are:
Model Number: LG-P925
Android Version: 2.3.5
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7+
Build Number: GRJ90
Software Version: LGP925-V20p-FEB-22-2012
So it used this nice guide to root my phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975933
I then had to use this guide to install ClockworksMod because it seams that nothing comes easy on this phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257588
I loaded the stable version of cyanogen for the LG Thrill and it starts up and runs, but the problem is that I get no network connection, when i try to import contacts I get "No vCard file found", and my phone says that my IMEI is unknown.
I have looked around and seen that it may be because i have a bad file in EFS, but i have no idea where to find this so called EFS folder.
Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated, and try to keep the explanations at a low level because I only started doing all this stuff yesterday so i have a limited understanding on what is actually going on.
And I have tried to do the following steps:
1. Connect phone by USB
2. Activate USB debug mode
3. Enter 3845#*920# in dialer if that doesn’t work try 3845#*925#
4. Select Port Settings -> Select CP Image Download
5. A new device should appear at let it install
6. Open Tutty and select serial protocol. Click on open
7. Type AT if response is not OK, change port number (it is possible that when typing you don’t see any letters)
But i cant get past step 3, because entering either of those two doesnt do anything on the phone. I'm assuming because those are specific for Gingerbread, but when i re-install gingerbread and try these again Tutty doesnt open when i select serial protocol, it just gives me an error.
Ha, i found my problem. I dont have a baseband, it comes up as unknown. Did a little reading and found that "he baseband is the subsystem of the phone that controls radio communications. It's a chipset on the phone that directly controls cellular hardware and communications with cell towers."
Well now i just need to figure out how to get it on the phone and which one to use.
Edit:
Ya I'm still having problems i can't get any of the ROM's to work. I was stupid and didn't save Nandroid backup so i cant even go back to what i had before. I tried going back to the standard P925 ROM but it still didnt recognize the SIM. When i try the P920 ROM the SIM is recognized, but all the text is shifted so i cant read most of anything.
Any help would be much appreciated
Get thrill seeker 3.0 or higher I'm on 3.0 not the greatest rom but works
