Hi everyone. With the new option to unlock nand after root, you may be wanting some roms for the dinc. Now, i am developing an app to flash froyo while nand is unlocked. I will be needing testers within the next couple of days for this new app. Ill keep you posted on progress.
I would be interested, keep me posted.

Uhhh...
Our tool does NOT unlock NAND. It unlocks it sufficiently long for us to flash clockworkmod. That's it. It is unsafe to leave it unlocked for longer at the moment because of the way we do it, and the tool functions as a single unit--if any one part of it doesn't work, NAND is not necssarily even unlocked!
After the reflasher finishes running, NAND is locked again.
Now... there will be ROMs soon, and there will be Froyo. There will even be unlocked NAND (that's one of our next projects).
Maybe this guy can put together froyo, but based on what he's said so far... I wouldn't expect it.
So you started another thread about a Froyo "rom"... this should be interesting! I don't think you need to develop an "app" to do this, you just need to cook a rom up... But you should probably wait until you have a ROM before you create a thread.
This should be interesting since your last thread got locked. I hope you succeed but judging by your previous responses I doubt it.

Really shouldn't be posting a thread building hype on a ROM that doesn't exist, especially without any kind of street cred, and on an account that's only a month or two old- Given what happened to your last thread (you know, closed down by Fallen Spartan), you really should think twice before throwing up another one that's darn near identical...
Would gladly test it for u. PM me and i shall do the testing for u

No heavensblade. This is a rom. The old method from tyeold thread was a load of crock. I am the first one to say that the old method was a fricken disaster, but this is a fully functiional rom using nand access. It is totally different fromthe old way. It is reliable

To make all the crybabies happy heres a disclaimer:
Doing this will not mess up your phone. Doing things after this could mess up your phone. Make nandroid backups before making changes to your phone. If you are inexperienced, don't do anything else besides editing/deleting system files on your phone. Flashing other recoveries and other such things could be risky, but removing files from system should have no adverse effects other then maybe causing a bootloop which could be fixed my restoring your system folder. I don't know why people got upset about this, but if you have any brain at all you could of figured this out yourself.

You can unlock your nand temporarily and its easy to do.
All you need is the unrevoked tool.
First understand what it is doing. It unlocks your nand to write your recovery image. Normally we cant do this. So look they made this tool to hide what its actually doing, but if you think about it you realize hey if I unplug my USB cable before it flashes recovery and reboots to recovery, I will still have an unlocked nand.
So simple steps.
1. Plug in phone to your PC
2. Run unrevoked tool
3. Let it reboot to bootloader
4. When in bootloader your screen will flash back to the white HTC Incredible screen, at this point unplug your USB and close unrevoked tool(make sure you do it before your phone completely boots and while the unrevoked program still says Waiting for reboot.)
5. Once you get past the bootanimation your phone is unlocked so you can write to /system/
To test, run the app Ad free and update the hosts file, it should say it was successful. If your phone is rebooted it is no longer unlocked.
How many times have you used this trick?
Lets say 20. Well what if on the 21st try, your phone was bricked?
I'm not saying that'll happen, but clearly you didn't write the program, so you have no idea.
I wouldn't suggest anyone try this until unrevoked release a fully tested NAND unlock. There are very few reasons to have NAND unlocked at this time.
I would do this, bit i trist pmf on this one.

There's really nothing to worry about, once your phone is rebooted after hboot and your phone is booting, the program isnt interacting with the phone notice it says waiting for reboot, so really there isnt anything to worry about.
I have done this many times. This is supposed to be an open development community and hiding stuff or making up BS about bricking phones to scare people from trying stuff is really dumb. You root your phone, you are already taking risks doing it in the first place.

Most people have already ran unrevoked several times to update the their phone's recovery.
SO HOW THE HELL is this any different. Get it through your head and realize that all you are doing is unplugging your phone before it is even going to flash recovery again. The recovery isnt flashed until you boot back into the OS. So pulling the USB before this when the program still says Waiting for Reboot will cause no issue.
What you do to your phone afterwards might cause issues, but people should make nandroid backups before they ever do anything anyways.

Well a few weeks back someone posted some file with a list of commands that temporary unlocks the nand and basically this is what unrevoked is doing along with flashing a new recovery and rooting the phone. Basically its a made program so it can hide what its doing so you the person doing it, doesn't know what their program is doing and also to make it easier for people that are inexperienced with rooting and doing other tasks such as using adb. It basically simplifies the process for the enduser to not have to fuss with adb and any other program or entering commands, etc.

Where would we be without Unrevoked? They don't hide stuff, they protect stuff. They're protecting exploits from being closed by HTC and phones from being bricked. What it is, is that people are greedy fux and use the phrase OPEN SOURCE/DEVELOPMENT as an excuse to post their (unrevoked's) long hard work all over the forums cause "hey now my adblock works". Its really pathetic! Unrevoked thinks of the big picture, like people being able to root their phones in the future while these other people posting their work are just actually HURTING the community! Now you're gonna post some schlep way to get NAND unlock for one boot, using their tool and then talk **** about their methods. THERE WOULD BE NO DEVELOPMENT SECTION UNDER HTC DROID INCREDIBLE IF IT WASN'T FOR UNREVOKED! Here on XDA or any other site. It would be sad if Unrevoked decided not to release the REAL FULL NAND UNLOCK/UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER cause people keep posting stolen work or schlep methods of using their tools for the non-intended purposes!
Has anyone tried this yet?

Umm,
If a person such as myself can figure this out.
If a person like you and myself and others all have access to unrevoked program.
This means HTC has access to these programs as well.
HTC hires people who have college degrees and know how to program and know much more about the phones then us.
I'm sure they already have disassembled their program and know what they are doing and knew what it was doing before they did so.
I want to try other things like Metamorph and make themes.

I will assume that they could have given us NAND unlock already. But they haven't. They must have a good reason for holding out. I for one would like to be able to use my Root Explorer instead of getting out my laptop and using that frigging command line interface. I'm not a Linux person. I was raised on the Windows GUI. My previous 2 phones ran Windows Mobile. This is my first Android. I don't like the command line interface. It may be handy for techies and developers, but not for me... So gimmie NAND unlock! I'll take my chances.

+2 UnRevoked your doing a hell of a job, 90% of us understand why the nand unlock has not been released, I want nand but i'm not willing to try what the op has suggested. Perhaps if I were building themes I might use this method for a faster testing procedure. Yet I dont belive it should have been posted here seems alot of new poeple lurking might unplug at the incorrect moment and create issues that would spur a whole bunch of "help me!!" threads.
What UnRevoked is doing is no different than me or anyone else running company server patches in a sandbox for a few weeks before I pushed it to all the servers. Test test test test THEN release!
No doubt HTC has already seen and disected their code. Do you think your the first to figure out how UnRevoked managed to flash the custom recovery? Why has no one else posted this? hmm..
Dont kill me with flames I'm just sayin.
Just my .02 cents

Speaking of the bootloader, DG, will you and Getaphixx be able to put your heads together and find out if the bootloader is locked, or will you actually need to have one in hand to play with before you can check.
Does this mean Froyo built-in wireless tethering can be enabled? And junk apps can be removed? I don't have any experience with Moto so I am not sure if an unlocked boot loader is required for those.

Make that 75ea. I'm so excited. lol. (bank trans takes 3-5 days so prob end of next week).
I'm confused as to why no one knows if the boot loader is locked or not if there's a rooted one in the wild? please be gentle I'm noob-ish, I've been installing custom roms for years but I read what I need to, in order to get that phone done how I want it then usually drop out again so I'm not very familiar with all the processes going on behind the curtain.
alright so im an evo owner. im rooted, rom'd, the works. so i know what im doing but my friend is also rooted but has been out of the loop for a few months. so i need some recommendations as to what the best aosp (preferably) rom/kernel combo is for him. im basically gonna have to overhaul his phone
so links to the best rom, kernel, and a link to the newest radio update (im sure he is more than a few versions behind) would be nice
oh and what is the most rock solid stable recovery for this device. like if you own an evo you use amon-ra its not even a question. is there a preferred recovery for this device also? (it also has to be able to flash radios)
any and all help is appreciated
Edit: apparently my post here was not specific enough for some people. So to clear things up my friend does in fact have this phone (hero cdma) but he has very slim knowledge when it comes to rooting so I am trying to help him.

You aren't even posting in the right forum.... this is for the HTC HERO CDMA NOT THE EVO. You never specify that "your friend" even has a Hero. So this is why I say that.
Plus EXPECT us to just provide all this information when you sir are more than capable of reading, testing, and flashing all of what we have to offer here. You did it for your Evo didn't you? Then you can do it for "your friend's" Hero also. None of us care if you don't want to read everything. It's a forum. That's what you do here. READ.
Now your no Noob to XDA so you should have known this. Shame on you. Learn the forum rules better. And the etiquette. Respect goes a long way here and not just to our forum.
Ok I'm sorry I don't have time to play with my friends phone for a whole damn day. I see him like once every 2 weeks so I firgured I would ask in the Q/A for his device to find out what's good. You know, where you go to ASK QUESTIONS. I'm more than aware of the forum rules and I'm certain I didn't do anything wrong. So either offer suggestions or piss off.
Edit: also I figured it was implied in the op that my friend has this device because why else would I venture into the legacy device forum to find this phone and go through all that to post here? So you gonna help or not? I didn't realize that mentioning a name of a good rom or kernel was so hard. Hell you don't need to supply links I'm more than capable of reading and searching for it once a name is given.

Sorry bout the swearing. I for lack of a better word got "screwed" (keep your head out of the gutter) by my boss today and am not exactly in the best mood.
I know how you feel about the 100 times thing. Happens in the evo forum a lot to but the difference is that they have the devices their asking about so they can very well test on their own. I don't have this device and have no means of testing other than my not so intelligent friend who would probable mess this up some how.

I completely understand man. We all have our days. Having a bad one myself too.
Any of our CWM recoveries work very well. 2.5.0.7 (??) is the most used by our users here. As a developer I run my own special recoveries (Green Lantern) to my liking so another USER might wanna chime in here.
Also check out the .29 radio if he's on Sprint. He's probably missed out on it.

Ok thanks for the help. You just covered everything I needed to know. But one last opinion. have you used decks rom? On the evo his rom is the go to aosp rom so I just want to know if that is the case here or if its at least stable. I don't need break neck speed necessarily but more just stable as a rock. I need it to last him the last 5 or 6 months of his contract without needing to be fiddled with all to much haha

Personally I'd try TeamHeroC's latest 2.3.7 build from Jaybob. He just updated it the other day and from early reports everything runs nicely. Also it's a small build and GREAT for firerats partition mod if your inclined to do so. There's a ton of options here for our Heros, Picking the right setup is personal choice and a ton of flashing Great device for flashoholics like myself
Chiming in...
Just about any of the ROMs you find here with current release dates are 10x better then stock. I myself, like MattCrystal, am a flashaholic and bounce between them when I need a change. TeamHeroC by Jaybob was the first I used and I always end up going back to it.
CWM or CWM based recoveries have been solid for me--no issues.
But I must side with Matt about the reading......good luck!

Hey everyone, new to the Android scene. Switched to an HTC One from the iPhone 5, was wondering if there's an AOKP Rom coming out soon for the HTC One? Already unlocked my bootloader, rooted it, and flashed recovery with TWRP.
Really? Asking ETAs is the best way to make sure you don't ever see it over here. Since you're new I'll give you some advice. PLEASE, PLEASE read up on XDA rules and general postig ettiquite. The Devs aren't paid employees. These are people who do what they do in their spare time and put their hard work out there for us all to enjoy. Be patient, ROMs will come and in the mean time check out all the awesome work that has already been done in the 24 hours since this device was released and don't forget to hit the thanks button.

Yeah I understand, sorry for being rude. I'll know for next time, thanks.
Welcome to Android, I am pretty sure everything will be coming down the line, but it's still early, takes time to create solid builds with the least amount of bugs possible. Check in often, you will find what you need soon enough.

Didn't think you were rude and sorry if I came off a little rough, I was honestly just trying to give you the nice version before someone blew up on you. Everyone is new at some point. Relax and enjoy your new phone, with a device like this the custom ROMs will be rolling in very soon. Congrats on leaving your iPhone behind, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Welcome to xda we're one big happy f#$&ing family here LOL

I think this is bs. No roms,no nothing for this damn phone still. Its been months and no progress. I am not a developer and yes i complaining. Nobody can say that the bootloader is locked down or its because of kitkat... look at the g2 the g3 its insane with how much roms there is. I dont believe anything or anyone saying the bootloader is locked....A BUNCH OF BS!!!. I am going to look into developing for this phone because we are at a standstill for far too long. Gonna install linux on my computer when i have free time and atart putting in work.

Feel exactly the same.
This phone is like a king among phones, but a king who is in exile
Even with stock this phone is simply outstanding and I'm sure LG will update it to lollipop
But it needs lots of developer love for sure
I'm also learning how to develop, just for the love of this device

Not by any means a developer, but I'm pretty tech savvy and know a few languages, so if i can help in any way let me know. I want to get this ball rolling!
We are gonna need some help from mattwheat also. Busy this weekend but will check out some things soon....
Guys the bootloader is definitely locked down tighter than sh#!. But there is a work around. I.e. "BUMP"
With the Flex 2 now out I figured all hope WS gone for this device. If I knew more or had the time to learn like I used to have we would be rockin some AOKP, RESERECTION, OR some CM-12 based ROM.
I used to be on night shift for years and had all the time in the world after work (hence my 3am and 4am post). But I've left that company to start a new job that is now day shift. Which allows me more time with my son. But cuts into the amount of time I used to have. But I wouldn't change it for the world. But I will help anytime I can. But I think by summer I may move to either the Nexus 6 or the Flex 2 <--- only if the boot loader is unlockable like the LG G3 is.
It is a shame about the boot loader. Gave the flex to my daughter and moved on to the
Nexus 6 and have no regrets.
Great news cm12 incoming.check out lg-devs at github

It's about as old as this thread. This phone needs a developer willing to spend some time. Start a CM bounty thread and see where that goes

Since it is rootable and a custom recovery can be installed. It should be a near walk in the park for the devs.
