erm... what now? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I no newbie when it comes to installing roms, but im encountering my first problem. I installed the genesis 1.5 [WWE 23569] (love it!) and used it for a few days. Then i felt like testing out the Tai [23569 2015 3712 WWE] (also great!) I decided to reinstall the genesis rom again, but now the rom wont finish loading.
Im stuck at the final grey screen where it says "Update in Progress" but no prompt comes up to say the OS was installed successfully. As you all know this process takes less that a few mins to finish... i've been waiting forever.
What can i do? Try another copy of the same rom from another SD Card?
Please help!

In the course of my flash ROM,I had never come across this problem, why not try to format memory card?and do it again....just a advice....

was thinking the same thing, but im looking for alternatives before i track down a card reader lol

why don't you flash directly from your computer ?

I don't think you can flash from the computer without an ActiveSync connection, and for that you need the phone to be working already.

xda mini s installing rom from sdcard

hello all.
I'm trying to install a new rom but having great difficulty. The problem is that i cannot connect through activesync. The wizard comes on after 5 mins or so but is very tempremental and slow. I can start the boot loader screen and "USB" is in the Right hand corner. I've tried xda os tool but to no avail, I keep getting message unknown file format for the nk.nbf file.
Please could someone help me out here. I have another means of getting files onto sd card if that helps.
Thanks alot
Wich rom are you trying to install?
Any Rom. I've tried a few. Crossbow etc. Got any ideas? Which one is best to use?
Thanks
you mention that you can get to the bootloader and get the USB in the lower left. If you are there, then you can flash a rom (Activesync will not connect in this mode, but thats fine).
IF you haven't already, read and check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
Personally it sounds like you should flash an official rom (you haven't mentioned if you are a G3 or G4 but since you are saying flashing and not using shelltool I'm assuming G3) to get a stable base. Then move on to a custom rom for performance, features, etc...
Yeah Its a G3. The link you gave me sounds more like it! I'm not home just now but i'll try this first thing.
Thank you very much for your time.
Well apprieciated.

Hello There. Well i've downloaded all the tools needed after waiting 70 odd minutes on rapidshare!? tried to install button rom and after 10 seconds error comes up with program not responding. I have enabled rapi on the device.
So whats the next step??
I'm using vista. could that be an issue??
Thanks
Yes, Vista can't install to a phone in bootloader mode. You have to use XP SP2.
Thought so. I'll get to a mates for this.
Thanks again.

Error 246, 260 and 202

hey guys,
I'm freakin' out... I followed the instructions on trinityguides.info to upload the Hard-SPL. However, even though the Active Sync is working and the RUU seems to connect to the mobile and everything if going fine so far I get this bloody 246 and that *****y thingy of a mobile is going into the three colour mode... Ok, not a big deal. As I've read in the FAQ just start the RUU again and it should be cool... well, its not... now I get a 260. Nevertheless, I've not given up yet. I tried the installation again. This time without accepting the message on the mobile, after a while I get another error 202....
so please guys... where is the trick??? I read something about go into bootloader manually - I reckon that's the camera, power and hard reset button combo. When should I do this???
I also downloaded all three of this roms, 1.20, 1.30 and the other Macrofl or so....
I'm running XP SP2, Active Sync 4.5,
Mobile: HTC P3600, IPL-0.50, SPL-1.07.0000, WM5 German
Update via SD
Hi,
I had the same kind of problem just a few days ago... and I solved it simply using my SD memory. Using it, you bypass the pc (and the connection between the PDA and PC) and all this type of problems "connection-depending".
You can flash your PDA putting the rom image on the SDcard (how you should do, you can read here here )...
Ciao
Tompo
hey tompo,
thx for your help, but I still have problems. I formated my Sandisk 2GB ultra II SD card and copied the RUU_signed.nbh to the root of the SD. Then I renamed the file to TRINIMG.nbh and went manually to the bootloader. However, there was only a short flickering of a grey screen that said "loading", after that I was back in that three colour thingy.... crap.... what the hell am I doing wrong???
seems as i have though luck with that mobile....
Any more hints???
cheers

Ok.....You wanna get to the 3 strip screen?
Make sure the battery has a 50% of its charge.
-Turn the device off.(DON´T HOOK IT UP TO THE COMPUTER YET) so it should be off and unplugged.
-Press and HOLD camera button + power button, now you should see the 3 strips,if so you can hook it up to the usb port.
Got it?
I don´t remember now if you have to follow this step first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293957
Like I said I´m not sure, but take a look.....if you brick the phone there´s a way to fix it.
See ya.
THX
thank you guys for the support,
however, the source of the prob was the SD card. Even though I formatted the SD in my laptop with FAT32 and no label, it seemed to me that the mobile couldn't access it. I've done it several times - didn't work. Finally, I thought lets format the thingy with the mobile itself - voila - it worked.... I dono if something with my card reader is wrong... the SD was working fine with tomtom and was accessible in both (laptop and mobile) without flaws. Only the bloody flashing didn't work as it should be.... well, I don't mind any more, may be its a solution for another desperate trinity user....
Cheers guys - I'm runnin' on WM6.1 now....*sweet*
hello could you please say how did you format with the trini, cuz I'm really new and unable to find that function.
I have exactly the same problems, but no external card reader
Many thx

Flashing a new ROM - Need HELP NOW!

Hey,
It seems like I do something wrong..
I came from original ROM and installed HardSPL.
Then I downloaded rom and with CustomRuu I tried to
flash a new ROM. At about 50 % it stops and says..
you cannot use this update utility for your PDA phone.
I tried SD Card method - doesnt work.
What now? Please help me guys...I'm sweating since I had a brick already!
Cheers
Are you doing everything as it is described?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446070
Yes. Exactly.
I tried to turn off my Firewall and AntiVir...but same error again.
I flash with my notebook now and it seems to work. 72 %...
God, I'm still sweating..
but thanks for coming by orelsi =)
okay, seems to be okay. Flashed succesfully.
God, I think I never flash again...unless it really
makes me happy what I did here : )
No problem . Good luck with the laptop .
why doesn't it work by the SD card method? that is one of the safest ways to flash.
Maybe I did something wrong. Next time I probably use this method since I deleted my data on it already. It started but then it suddenly stopped (not even 1%...) and it said the same on my phone: Rom data error or something like that. Try again...

Phone slow and often doesnt work at all

Hi people,
I recently decided to update my touch diamond to wm6.5.
Already got HardSPL 1.93 some time ago together with the swift rom.
Now I downloaded this rom:
BOGYSOFT WM6.5 Build 23060
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=552162
And followed the instructions carefully, put the rom on the internal storage and started the update process as usual.
After it had finished installing I already noticed it took the phone way to long to completely boot into windows.
After a few reinstalls I finally got it to work but it was very slow and often I couldnt even unlock the damn thing.
At this point I cant even get into windows anymore.
Now ofcourse I want this rom removed from my phone, but is that even possible when I cant boot it into windows??
I need to have an USB connection to put on another rom, so is that possible without windows?
Thanks for your help!
I got the same problem. anybody help us?
I had a problem with an earlier version of this ROM, and the fix turned out to be quite simple.
I flashed my stock ROM back on and then re-flashed BOGYSOFT, ever since then been no problems what so ever.
I had flashed a few different ROM's to try before this it's possible I suppose that there may of been some corruption with repeated flashing.
I think the hardspl is affecting the phone's stability, cause returned back to the stock after flashing some cooked roms and it's bad more than before.....
any news?

Yes but dont you need to acces the phones internal storage to add a new rom?
Cause I dont know how to do that when I'm not even able to acces windows.
Anybody?
Is my phone bricked or is there a way to connect to the internal storage without WM?
Now it doesnt even boot the rom anymore,
The image has even dissapeared from my internal storage.
It is now stuck in the Bootloader telling me to trigger the USB host.
Any ideas?
My Diamond has been pretty unreliable over the last couple of days, but I used MTTY to format the internal flash, loaded the latest Gen.Y ROM (I don't think it really matters which ROM tho) and now it works perfectly again. Plus to me it seems a bit faster. Anyway I couldn't be happier.
If you can get into the bootloader with USB I'd certainly give the instructions in this flash a go (post 3 or 4 only if you're on Windows XP).

thanks mate!

SE Updater failed to install new rom, what is the best thing to do now?

Hello,
I know you guys got some excellent walkthroughs, roms, programs and threads where you've helped a lot of people out but I could really use some personal feedback. I had hoped to fix my phone using one of the excisting threads but unfortunalty I can't get it to work with those.
My problem is one I've seen more of in here, I used the SE updater and it froze at 53%, I did what the program said, reconnected and it froze again at 12%, and again, again, etc. So I disconnected thinking it might be a bad USB port. But then the updater didn't recognise my phone at all. So I used the mtty program suggested in some of the threads and I got past the red/green/blue screen but now it's stuck at the Sony Ericson logo, as if WM6.1 is gone.
This is what the red/green/blue screen currently states:
KOV110
SPL-0.78.0000
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707
From what I gather this means I can't flash roms, right? I tried making it a hard-spl but when I use the tool it says it can't connect.
So is there anyway to get a rom on it and bring it back to life?
Thanks inadvance!
Get an original rom from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475482
copy .nbh file from the package onto your sd card and rename it to : Kovsimg.nbh then bring phone into boot loader via : vol down + power.
It should flash the rom now. i the problem is still present after that you
have to deal with mTTy but first try the flash...
i think you could also bring phone into bootloader without sd card inserted then connect usb cable, display should now print 'USB',and after that start rom update utility.
regards

Thank you for your reply, I will do as you said although I've already tried something similiar to this. I believe the problem was that I couldn't flash roms from my SD since I don't have the hard SLD. But I will try it anyway as soon as I get home.
In the mean time I would love to hear more ideas about how to fix my phone.

You really need have to flash the HardSPL first as, based in your above post, you still have not done that. It will be useless to flash cooked ROM with that. If you can still power on your phone and you have an activesynch in your computer, i suggest you download the HardSPL first and update your phone using your PC. If you are successful doing that, then you can flash all you want.
original roms will still work with original spl... but nevermind =P

My phone can still power on in the sense that it shows the Sony Ericson logo or that I can access the three collor screen. But it won't launch WM6.1. I also have a problem with updating to hard DSL. It does recognise my phone because without it connected the program finds nothing and with the phone connected it wants to start updating. It says ''updating from image version: (emply) to image version: 1.00.X1 Ipress next and it opens a progress bar on both my X1 and the PC. But it never goes beyond 0% and then gives me an connection error. I think it has something to do with not being able to get passed the Sony Ericson logo. I mean the hard-DSL program does recognise my mobile but activeSync is never active because my PC doesn't recognise a WinMobile phone (since it wont go past the Sony Ericson screen)

Really? That might fix my device then. Could you suggest a rom from the long list? Perhaps one that works on all versions? Because I'm dutch but my mobile has always been in english so I'm not sure what rom version I had. Except that it was identified as an R2 Rom by the Sony updater before it killed my X1...
Go here
Find the latest stock rom for your country (and perhaps your carrier) and flash it
No need to have Hard SPL for that

Alright so I got an R1 original rom (I now realize that the R3's were originals aswell) and it worked! I'm not sure if it was the different rom or the formatting with FAT32 that did but it works again. So I'd like to thank everyone who was kind enough to reply.
The device is incredibly slow now but now I can use the hard-DSL installer, right? DOes anyone have a suggestion for a good rom to use?

DON'T hard-spl if you're going to flash a stock ROM. And especially if you're going to use SEUS.
Try flashing the R3A first. The R1s are way slow, as you've seen.
