Hi all, sorry to sound like a n00b, but i am having problems flashing my Xperia using the (Prepared english ROM without Branding (link by OliNex)) ROM from the *** Tutorial: Debranding the X1 / Flashing ROMs *** guide on here.
-I plug my phone into my PC, let Active Sync connect to it.
-Then run HardSPL and let that update SPL. I also went back into boot mode to check it had update the SPL version.
-I then got the Unbranded ROM (see above). Renamed it to 'Kovsimg.nbh' and copied it to my MicroSD root.
-Then I went back into boot mode, and the 'four colours' thing comes up and it says 'Serial' at the bottom.
The problem is that it does not do anything from then on. The next step in the guide (see above) just says "Follow the onscreen instructions, Congratulations. You're done.".
I am a little lost, one thing I is that my MicroSD is currently FAT16 as I can not format it to FAT32. I have downloaded a few SD formatting tools for Windows Mobile, but they all say that 'Access to MicroSD card denied'. I have tried using 'Advanced Task Manager' on my phone, to try and end any processes that may be using the MicroSD card. But it still, says 'Access denied'.
Anyway, does anyone have any ideas.
All help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Nate.
take the microSD out and format it in your computer (go to My computer - right click the memory card - choose format from drop down menu), don't forget to choose FAT32. worked for me like a charm.
Thanks. Trouble is I have no card reader.
Hi all
I rooted my phone today. I then installed clockworkmod and saved a stock backup. Following that, I successfully enabled 3 button recovery.
My problem appeared either after rooting or after clockworkmod. The problem was there prior to enabling 3 button recovery. I suspect it was clockworkmod that caused the problem.
Anyway, when I connect the phone to the computer the 16gb internal sd card & 2gb phone storage appear as removable drives in 'my computer'. However, double clicking on the drives gives the message 'no disk in the drive, please insert one'. Windows can't read the usable file space, browse or even format the drives.
However, I can browse the internal sd card fine using any android file manager.
Also, I can use adb to push/pull files.
What is going on?
I need to know quite quickly what to do. I initiated a phone repair with my carrier due to the mtp crash bug, so they are expecting it to be returned pronto. If the phone is stuffed, I'll send it back. If this can be fixed, I'll keep it since I managed to get the three button recovery working.
Also, I think there's a boot rom or something to do with clockworkmod still installed? How do I get rid of that if I'm sending the phone back. I know how to unroot.
Edit: I just found an external sd card to test. I formatted it in windows by using a sd card reader, then when I plugged it into the phone and tried it as a mass storage device windows didnt like it. Putting it back into the card reader one last time and windows recognised it. Makes no sense....
Edit2: In kies mode, kies can access it. And also it adds a 'galaxy s' to my computer where the internal sd card actually works... now I'm even more confused!
Have you tryed formatting your internal Sd or useing recovery 2e and factory resetting your phone?
I've tried formatting it and reset via settings->privacy->factory reset data.
Is 3 button recovery any different to the above type of reset? What will it roll the system back to?
(The recovery image I made in rom manager will have the same problem. I dont currently have an update.zip on my sd card due to formatting it, but I can get one on there using adb if I need to.)

Is your usb debugging on by chance? If so, turn it off ans reconnect the phone to the pc.
Mine does this when usb debugging is on and im on a stock eclair rom... Hope it helps...

That thought occurred to me too. Definately off. Ive checked it many many times now
When I first used adb, I simply pulled the plug out. I couldn't see any 'quit debug' command. There are start/kill server commands, they dont seem appropriate. Doesnt look like I should have had to do anything other than just pull the cable out.
Update:
I think that the update.zip's applied to my phone have changed some software to an earlier version that what my unit was shipped with.
When I first got the phone, I just plugged it into the pc and selected 'mass storage' on the phone. The drives then appeared (and worked) in windows.
Now, I have to click mass storage. That on its own isnt enough. But if I pull-down the tray menu at the top of the screen, there is another option to click (something along the lines of 'select this to transfer files between your phone and pc'). If I click that, it works.
There are some slight differences still:
1) I could swear that my phone originally allowed access to the 2gb phone internal memory (I never tried reading/writing to it, but I'm convinced windows displayed a 2gb drive).
2) I used to get the "xx/13.4gb free" under the drive letter in 'my computer', which I now only get in the status bar at the bottom of windows file explorer.
QUESTION
Does everybody else have to click "mass storage mode" AND pull down the task bar and click "transfer files" to get the internal sd to work as mass storage in windows?
Or do they just have to click "mass storage mode" and that's all?
Thanks
I always had to pull down the menu and manually mount the sd card when using mass storage.
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Definately wasnt the case on my phone (bought mid october, so its quite new) because I got my music on there via mass storage twice before 'hacking' it. I couldn't have done that without knowing about the extra buttons to press. It's good to know that it's just a side effect of the update.zips I've applied, and that I get to keep the phone
Cheers
EDIT: I think that these steps are helpful for someone who has same issues.
(A) I fixed SDcard issue.
1. run into FASTBOOT mode (press VOL-UP + POWER in booting)
2. run the following command from PC: % fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
(B) I could not fix USB brick issue. But I can flash RUU to my cell (no ADB connect, S-ON)
1. make gold card (ref. http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard)
2. put RUU into gold card
3. flash RUU via HBOOT
NOTE:
After these steps, USB may be still bricked. You should better use older RUU for getting root
without ADB commands by AndroRoot or others. (I used newest RUU so that I lost root forever. LOL)

ORIGINAL POST:
My Hero has some problems two days ago. I did many things but it still does not work well. How do I fix these problems? Could anyone give me an advice?
ROM: AOSP 2.3.3 (ver04/21/2011) w/ Firerats 1.5.3 (100 4) + Kifno Universal Scripts 1.5
Recovery: aospCWMod-HC-20110421.img (w/ firerat-recovery
SD card: 8GB(real size:7.45GB) (7.0GB FAT32 + 256ext4 + 128swap)
What happened:
* doesnt recognize SD card not only after booting but also from Recovery mode.
* cant connect with Hero via ADB not only from USB cable and also from wireless(ADB wireless)
(first, I could connect with Hero, but suddenly I couldnt)
* Any other functions on HERO may work well (Call, Network, Wifi are available)
* USB cable still supply power fortunately.
What did I do before this matter happened:
* "Backup Current ROM" via ROM Manager 4.1.0.0
It did not work well although messages (Waiting for SD card to mount (XXsec)) appear. After that my phone does not recognize SD card but ADB was still working.
* After doing "Partition SD card" via ROM Manager 4.1.0.0, typing "parted" on ADB and so on (as follows), ADB was gone.
What I did to solve this problem:
* Reformat and Repartiton SD card (8GB/FAT32, 8GB(FAT32+ext3(256MB)+swap(128MB))
* Change another SD card (4GB/FAT32)
* Try another USB cable
* Partition SD card via Recovery mode
* Partition SD card via ROM Manager 4.1.0.0
* (parted command does not exist on Recovery mode)
* Reinstall Android SDK on PC
Others:
* SD card can be read from Windows 7 after my HERO did not recognizing it. (All of data on FAT32 were copied from SD to other)
* On root in SD card I found some files I have never seen before.
Those names are "qxdm_(DATE)_(TIME)_1.dm"
This files are created after reformat SD card.
I tried a few:
* ext3 partition is changed from ext3 to ext4, but still not recognize.
* Fortunately ADB wireless WORKS.
What causes that my HERO does not recognize SD card on Recovery mode?
(SD slot destroyed? or not?)
Can I reinstall recovery image and reflash ROMs via ADB wireless without using SD card? (If I can, does it make my HERO a brick?)
Any idea?

It sounds like you sorta found a solution. I would say it sounds like you're running too many tweaks. Why are you formatting your sd? Are you using data2ext or a2sd? If you use firerat you shouldn't need that. Also, to use SD in recovery you need to mount sd in the mounts/storage menu. I guess I'm a little unsure of where you're at now.
Thanks, il Duce.
> I would say it sounds like you're running too many tweaks. Why are you formatting your sd? Are you using data2ext or a2sd? If you use firerat you shouldn't need that.
Sure. All you said is right.
I used data2ext or a2sd in other ROMs once before using firerat.
Now I'm using firerat instead of it then I dont use data2ext or a2sd.
I was too lazy to remove ext4 partition.
The reason why formatting my sd card again is that as mounting sd card was not available due to these problems and I thought that its partition might be corrupted and I should fix it due to formatting it. But I had no luck..
> Also, to use SD in recovery you need to mount sd in the mounts/storage menu.I guess I'm a little unsure of where you're at now.
My explanation seemed like obvious. I wrote many unwanted things.
I couldnt mount sd in recovery menu. It said only "Error mounting /sdcard!" (also /sd-ext is same).
Before this problem happened, I was able to mount sd in it and in ROMs.
All I want to do is to use SD card in recover and in ROM again.
I did additional few things. But still I cant mount sd card.
* My hero in fastboot can be recognized from my laptop. "fastboot devices" can work well. But my hero in recovery cannot be recognized. "adb devices" cant get anything.
-> USB cable may be OK.
+ fasboot flash/boot does not work. (I found a posts that said that flash via fastboot doesnt work on Hero CDMA. Right?)
* My hero in hboot can access SD card. "HERCIMG.zip" on root in sd card can be accessed. But my hero in recovery cannot access sd card.
-> SD slot and SD card may be OK.
+ I cant find available HERCIMG.zip for HBOOT 1.47.
Can I flash recovery in terminal on ROM?
I would recommend the following:
1. Remove all partitions from your SD card, reformat it to FAT32
2. Run RUU on your phone, that should overwrite everything - you will need to re-root, but it will remove all the dingleberries from your phone.
Hope this helps.

Oh Dude, why didn't you say this earlier... I assumed that fastboot/HBOOT is not working on your phone.
1. You can absolutely flash recovery or any other images from fastboot, on a hero. Do "fastboot flash recovery <recovery.img>"
2. You can also flash recovery from HBOOT... look for the right HERCIMG.zip, place it on the root of the SD card, boot your device by holding down the volume down + power

I find several HERCIMG.zip via some file share services that Google teaches me. I tried one of them (I got it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-792170.html) and it seems like doing well (as below).
Ohters say "CID incorrect" "Update Fail!" after Checking.
It says:

(refresh screen)
Checking..[HERCIMG.zip]
(refresh screen)
<VOL UP> FastBoot Mode
<BACK> Simlock
<HOME> Recovery
press <HOME>, go to Recovery, then boot.
But nothing changes. Still I have same issue.
Should I look for another HERCIMG.zip?
I have questions like noobish.
In my thought, these issues (cant mount sdcard in recovery and ROM) may be solved by reflashing ROM image again. Is it right?
Does "flash_image" via terminal on ROMs work well?
(I've not done it from terminal.)
If using firerat, is it necessary to flash FR-recovery over just flashed recovery to avoid rebooting back into recovery?
(I worry that if sdcard were not still mounted in recovery after doing "flash_image recovery" I would have no solution to escape from the bootloop into recovery mode because I cant connect phone in recovery via ADB now.)
Does the following steps seem worth a try?
1. push a recovery image to inner memory (e.g. /data/local/) via ADB wireless
2. open terminal, "su" and "flash_image recovery <above image>"

Doesn't seem like you are S-off or you have Eng-SPL. The first one would have allowed you to use HBoot and the second to run fastboot.
If you were S-Off and had the Eng-SPL, the screen should have read something like this...
HERC XC ENG S-OFF...
Anyways, did you try to run RUU? You should try the one found on the HTC website for the CDMA Hero.
Thanks, all.
Fortunately I seems like fixing these problem.
But it's not known exactly why I fixed these problems.
In view of andythegreenguy's advice, I tried to run RUU on my phone.
But I cant connect my phone via ADB.
Then I reinstall HTC driver for Windows 7 once again. Of course, I already tried it before but still it didnt work well.
Booting into FASTBOOT because I could connect my phone via FASTBOOT, and connecting my phone with USB and trying to replace HTC driver.
But it still said that the driver was already installed.
But after rebooting into recovery mode, my laptop recognized it. And sdcard could be mounted in recovery mode for no special reasons.
After booting sdcard works well in ROMs.
(No qxdm_*.dm files I had seen first after these problems occurred doesnt be created any more)
It seems strange to me that connecting ADB act on the behavior of mounting sdcard. I still worry that the same issues will happen. Does this happen?
Anyway, thank all guys giving advices to me.
ps. I'll try S-OFF and ENG-SPL for avoiding the same issues.
Good to hear that your problems seem to be solved.
BTW, you don't need to have ADB running to run RUU, you just need HTC sync properly installed and have the RUU executable from HTC website.
OMG... I got excited for nothing. I didnt fix it basically. LOL
After that, I tried to flash recovery image.
flash recovery(aosp 4/21) and flash FR-recovery(1.5.3) w/ full wipe and reboot into recovery.
But the same issues occured again. (hero in recovery didnt mount sdcard again laptop didnt connect it via ADB)
It goes worse in point of losing booting ROMs. HBOOT, FASTBOOT work but didnt do S-OFF and ENG-SPL.
I acted stupid. I should have done S-OFF or ENG-SPL before flashing recovery.
I guess that the I have the same chance as the previous post (occasionally ADB works well in recovery). I will do serveral things that I did. (and try on another PC).

Oops. I guessed wrong.
I could connect Hero in FASTBOOT via USB then run "HTC Sprint Hero MR 2.27.651.6.exe". It seemed to work. But it gave 'Error [131] Incorrect Customer ID'.
I was looking for some articles about Error[131]. They said that driver's name should be "My MTC" not "HTC Bootloader".
But my laptop shows "HTC Bootloader" after re-install HTC Sync 2.0.40 again and updating driver from "Devices and Printers".
Does it cause error?
I am all confused about what your phone is doing... . Anyways, switch off your phone (battery out, if nothing else works) and follow these steps:
1. Backup your SD card
2. Remove all partitions from the SD card and format it to FAT32
3. Install HTC sync on your computer
4. Download the RUU to your computer
5. Switch on your phone
6. Run the RUU from your computer and see what you get (report back)

1. already done backup
2. Use "Mini Tool Partition Wizard 5" for removing all partition and making FAT32. (and use "Panasonic SD formatter 3.0" for re-formatting sdcard)
3, use HTC Sync 2.0.40
4. RUU is HTC Sprint Hero MR 2.27.651.6.exe
5. connect usb cable to hero
6. run RUU and turn on hero in accordance with its guidance.
hero is booting up normally and it shows FASTBOOT USB on the top of screen.
then rebooting by RUU and it shows alternative HTC boot screen
it says "Error 131 Customer ID error" and quit.
# I tried it from Windows 7 and Windows Vista. But both are same.

The HTC RUU is for Sprint only... hence the error. Do you have a RUU specific to your carrier?

No I dont have it. I have checked that company's page for RUU but I had no clue.
I believed without no doubt thatit would work because KDDI services operates on Sprint networks as a MVNO and usually "Settings" shows "Sprint" as connected carreer.
BTW, I left hero in recovery mode all night.
I found the files "qxdm_*.dm" created on sdcard. What are these files?
These files seem to be created not only in recovery but also FASTBOOT, HBOOT.
Those file size seem to depend on running time after booting. (if the sizes exceed 65535KB, it seem to create a new file.)
I guess that after booting my phone may keep writing these files on sdcard and this may prevent phone from mounting sdcard...
I fixed SDcard issues ( not mounting). And I could flash RUU into phone by Gold Card.
Unfortunately, USB bricked issue are not solved.
But, I wrote up these steps for helping someone having same issues because I found many similar articles.
See my 1st Post.
Hey guys,
Recently the screen on my i9000 became faulty and will not load up anything at all. Infact its completely back and seems to have no power running though it all.
Apart from that my phone is working fine, is able to receive calls and messages and functions normally.
Now the problem is I currently have the handset for sale on Ebay due to complete tomorrow.
I still have data on the phone which i really need wiped before selling the phone and initially assumed by flashing a stock ROM via Odin this would wipe all user data also..
I was wrong, after 7 several attempts.. (I did seemingly manage to get the phone into download mode without working screen as Odin opperated as normal without any errors) the phone still responds to emails I send to my account.
I am unable to access the phone on Kies...
I've tried doing a hard reset using the keys during bootup however without working screen I have not managed yet to find the format option successfully.
Is there any other ways that I could wipe the data without a working display?
Are there any options on Odin that I am missing?

Hi mate,
Thanks for the reply.
Do I need to put the phone into a specific mode for the format utility to function correctly?
As I managed to get the utility to reconise the phone by turning the handset off however whenever I press the format button it states format fail!
Also its weird that under settings it initially shows 2 options;
1st option) whole hard disk
This does not display any size quota on the bottom status bar.
2nd option) F:
The quota shows 996.53GB... as far as I was aware the phone is not that large.. could the utility be picking up my main hard drive hence the reason the format fails each time regardless of fat32 or NTFS?
The device section also has options both called USB Android UMS composit. depending on which i choose the 2nd option under setting becomes either F: or G: both being the same size quota.
Any advice on where I am going wrong?

Ok, remove your External SD card, and check your PC, as to what is the Drive letter of your Internal SD card ..Click My computer> should give you details of removable storage.

Not to worry about size quota , as it gives the same for any hard drive it detects, its more like the capacity it can handle, the important thing is to format the correct drive, which you can identify by removing you ext sd card as well as, checking your removal storage Drive ID.
If your phone is powered ON, it will give the model of your phone under Device and an option to select its SD card under device
under Drive to format chose the correct SD card , as listed in your PC as removable storage .
Most of all, for proper USB functions, you need sufficient power, so use your PC USB slots at the back
Hey, I got a Virgin Mobile HTC Desire 510. Y'know, the blue one....
I fudged up severely the other evening and installed another rom which bricked my phone. I did manage however restore a stock back-up I managed to find online, however the phone was still rooted, tampered and TWMP(did I get the abbreviation correct?) is still on it. So I go and install Supersu and Busybox in an attempt to go back to where I left off as I've been attempting to get the phone to do the internal to SD card bit but no success thus far, especially not right now. In anycase, after reinstalling Supersu, I load it up and get the message of "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root. consult the relevant forums for your device.". I attempted to reinstall threw recovery and it seems to be working till I get the actual phone's Google ROM running and click on the SuperSU program only to get that message.
Any suggestions or advice on how to do this and get SuperSU back up? How do I exactly re-root or can I somehow install the binary via PC or flash?
Can the HTC Desire 510(Virgin Mobile version) even have the the script/rom/trick setting to have the SD Card used as Internal memory or is this quest just wasted time?
Thanks
EDIT- Device version is 0PCV1

Hello and welcome to xda,
Where exactly did you get the back-up from that you used to restore?
You were close it is TWRP or Team Win Recovery Project.
I believe the reason you can't install SuperSU is because you don't have a write protect removed kernel installed. You can find one here. Check out their related forums and see which one you like best. They are pretty much all great. Some aren't being supported anymore as a heads up. To flash a kernel, in case you didn't know how:
Go into Settings-About-Software information-More-Kernel version and write down the name of the Kernel
1. Power the phone down
2. Hold "Down" button then hold "Power" key while still holding "Down" button, until you get into the bootloader
3. Release "Down" and "Power" button
4. Tap "Power" key once and it will change from "HBOOT" in white letters with blue background to "FASTBOOT" in white letters with red background on your phone
5. Connect your USB cable and it will say "FASTBOOT USB" on your phone
6. Navigate to the folder you have your fastboot.exe from Android Studio or wherever you obtained it from (Mine is in C:\Users\myusername\Android\sdk\platform-tools)
7. Hold the "Shift" key then right click in any empty space in that folder
8. Select "Open command window here"
9. Type
Code:
fastboot devices
in the command window, then press Enter just to make sure it is picking up your phone
10. You should see something like:
Code:
HT42PXU89475 fastboot
if you don't make sure your USB cable is inserted all the way and you are in "FASTBOOT USB"
11. Make sure your recovery.img or whatever the name of the recovery is, is in the folder you are currently in
11. Type
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
in the command window
You should see something like:
Code:
C:\Users\yourusername\Android\sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash boot boot.img
sending 'boot' (12932 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.350s]
writing 'boot'...
OKAY [ 1.030s]
finished. total time: 2.385s
Your phone will still be in FASTBOOT USB mode
To test it out to see it was correctly flashed, reboot the phone
Go into Settings-About-Software information-More-Kernel version and see that the version changed
You can follow my little guide to use SD as Internal memory. Let me know if you need any help.
I won't be able to get to this til tomorrow but another issue is I can't d/l apps off Google play. It comes up with some server issue and some weird code that starts with an R. Sorry I can't give full details as I'm at work :/.

Is your phone completely stock or do you have any custom ROMs? I have seen errors like that.

I'm fairly certain I reinstalled Busybox when I was installing(or trying to) Supersu. I'm giving the kernel bit a shot.
Oh the stock back-up is this(No, I didn't back up my phone since I didn't see a reason, I had everything I needed on the computer/sd) file:
http//qc-.androidfilehost-com/dl/PObYV5uN55P2PGDNrX1pLQ/1430391523/95832962473396445/2014-12-02--16-24-34+KOT49H+Stock.not.rooted.rar
(can't post links since i'm a newb)
Had to make a backup of my empty phone and put the files into the empty back up to restore it.
UPDATE- Flashed over Modded Kernel V2.6.1 since that looked like a safe bet. Installed correctly. Tried to reinstall Supersu. Got "Android is upgrading". Supersu Installed. Next is the SD Card bit.

I'm sorry, please disregard that last comment. I was posting like your only problem was the Play Store. lol Sorry. But yea, check out those things I mentioned to you and you should be able to get SuperSU back up, if not I'll help you with anything else.

UPDATE 2- When partioning the sd card, it continues to come up as ext2. When I go into Link2SD and I go to select I get the message on whatever I select- "Mount script cannot be created. mount: invalid argument"

Are you using Aparted? What was the method you used to partition? You should partition as ext4.
Yeah, I downloaded Aparted, went in to partition the SD card("8" gigs) and selected ext4 but it comes out ext2. Do I need S-OFF and/or 4EXT Recovery?

Did you select Create then Format? If it still comes out ext2 after that, I don't know what the problem is. Format will take a while because it is creating journals.

It's saying the partition doesn't exist when I go to format after creating the partition. Even when creating the proper ext from the create screen, it still doesn't come up as ext4.
other info
device- /dev/block/mmcblk1.
when I opened up link2sd its asking me for mmcblk1p2 but there is no mmcblk1p2

Are you trying to partition the whole SDcard as ext4? To properly partition the card to be used with Link2SD you have to:
1. Delete the sdcard
2. Create a FAT32 partition of any size of your choosing
3. Format the FAT32 partition
4. Create an ext4 partition of any size of your choosing
5. Format the ext4 partition (this will take a long time, as it will create journals that are used to recover from an error such as removing the device while files are being copied)
After following those steps, Link2SD should properly create the script/mount and you should be able to link to your sdcard
If you are doing those steps perfectly and you still have an error, we have to find out another solution
Ok, I still can't get it to make Ext4......
However, weirdness- I made a Fat32 Partition and went into Link2SD. Link2SD was able to use/read the Fat32 partition. Tried to create/change the Fat32 and it didn't work. Tried to make a third partition under ext4 and it comes up ext2. Openned Link2SD and it doesn't read/use the ext2. Uses the additional Fat32 no sweat. I don't know how much of it is working(tried downloading Brave Frontier and had to delete loads of stuff in general) usual memory bull**** ensures and I see theres a lock for the full copy of Link2SD....
another thing; I can't get into/mount the open part of my SD card. Should I go back to square one or should I blow the meager 3 bucks for the full copy and see if I can do it from there?
PS- Does the class of the sd decide on if I can partition an ext3-4? Cause if so, mine is only a class 4 SD card.

I just made a couple of very simple tutorials to use Aparted and Link2SD and they are both working for me. Check them out: Aparted tutorial, Link2SD tutorial. I believe the ext2 that you are talking about is around the 10 second mark in the Link2SD video. Do you mean the /data/sdext2? That is just the name of the second sdcard partition.
If you can, you should buy the full copy of Link2SD to link external data and whatever other options become available.
The class of sdcard shouldn't have anything to do with the partition. That's just a classification of the speed of the card.
If needed, I'll make more videos to show exactly how everything is done. I think sometimes it is better to show than simply explain how something is done.
Hope this helps.
Wow.......I mean seriously, holy zen, it worked.
I had to start over from scratch since my f'ling screwed so much crap up but after everything was reinstalled and flashed and what not, It made the ext4. I don't know why the programming is so touchy you have to create it threw such weird steps but I believe it worked. Upgraded the link2sd. Next question and I'm pretty sure on the answer- Are you able to remove the SD card or is it perma-bound to the phone(IE- if I change SD cards around, will everything crash?)? Thank you so much

I'm happy it worked out good for you.
Yes, you are able to remove your sdcard. Be aware that your apps are on your sdcard so if you remove it, you remove them. They are placed on your sdcard and symlinked so Android thinks they are still on your phone in the place they would normally be. Nothing should crash, they just shouldn't show up. There is some great info about Link2SD here.
@blaqueknight..
nice videos man.
