Froyo Camera on Desire ROM - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to push Froyo Camera on Desire ROM? I started liking Froyo camera more and more as it is better than Desire Camera (i am using MCR desire 22.1 and tried Rodrige's 2.7fix version ROM).
Here is the link for Froyo camera http ://dl.dropbox.com/u/5828026/CameraGoogle.apk (got it off from droid forums).
I tried pushing it into /system/app and also tried busybox install. But no luck.

not yet on froyo. paul was able to make the desire cam work on other 2.1 roms, since the htc apps usually need the sense framework. im sure once people have properly looked at the source of 2.2 and cyanogen has had time to do some work, then we will see it happen. just not right now. be patient. hope that helps.

Android 2.1 gallery app for us?

Anyway we can get the gallery app on 2.1, ive tried it on my hero on some 2.1 roms and it can easily run it,
anyone tried porting it for 1.5?
I don't think it can be backported to cupcake, no - best just to wait the few shorts weeks for Hero Eclair
i mean as an apk. so i can run modaco rom
as non of the 2.x roms support games very well

i pulled the browser from cyanogens latest donut rom , pushed it to my phone , but it won't install...
i would appericate if someone know's of an update.zip and can share it with me , or perhaps make me one. thanks for your time.
i really hope you get that working im thinking of going bact to donut or cupcake but will miss a few things
Your only chance of getting this to work is ripping it from various Donut ROMs that include an Eclair browser and pushing it to /system/app or just intalling it. If it doesn't install, it won't work. I don't think offical AOSP even supports multi-touch.
I thought multi touch was enabled in the kernel, not the app. I could have sworn I read that somewhere.

Camera.apk from sense hero 2.1 official

Can anyone post camera.apk from 2.1 hero update or camera.apk from sense 2.1 with full working camera and camcoder on htc magic(problably if work on hero workfor magic) because i haven't fast internet connection and i can't download a full firmware onli for 1 application... Wrong. The camera needs htc sense frameworks, so It will not work. Maybe with heavy modification someone could get it working on the magic, but your much better off asking in magic section for that. All the devs here are hero devs, not magic devs
Ok but i have a legend 2.1 rom on it with all sense 2.1 frameworks so probably it works...Because the capera.apk now i have, the prewiew of captured photo not work, zoom not work, cideo of camcoder not work audio and zoom...
Well, whatever. Here is the camera from the latest villainROM. Its not from the legend, so I cant be sure it will work. I don't have any legend roms around, but I can get you one and rip the camera from that if you need it.
Ok thanks! But how i add this new camera i've tied to push to /data/app_s and to /system/sd/app_s but i don't find any htc camera application...
Well, as far as I know, it needs to be installed to /system/app/
If it still doesnt work, ask and Ill dig out an old villainrom with a legend base, see if thats any good
can you post me the htccamera.odex?
hmmm... sorry, all the roms these days are deodexed, I wouldnt know where to find that

[Q] Question on ROM

Hi there !
I got my first Android (HTC WildFire) so can imagine I'm noob to these. I rooted the phone everything works fine now. I tried the CyanogenMod 6.1.0 (Stable) for HTC Buzz it works great but the main problem is the Location services is not detecting my location(India). GPS was enabled. Then the next problem was HTC take atleast 5 - 6 mins to reboot everytime. The Live Wallpapers just says it's loading and I left there for 30 mins still no improvement. So went restore the backup before i installed the ROM. So I wanted to know is there a way to fix this so i can use CyanogenMod If not then could you suggest me a ROM that has HTC Sense in it. I really like the features.
Thanks in advance,
Shyam
If u want sense... stock 2.1, wildpuzzle 2.1 (more performance than stock but more bugs) or modaco's 2.2 are the way imo.
As far as non-sense roms none do it for me, I guess I'm a sense whore lol

Thanks Mate ! In your opinion which is good ROM without HTC Sense ?
I had a hero before wildfire and it was always between cyanogen and vanillainRom. I learnt then that I really love sense so since getting my wildfire I've stayed with sense based roms so I can't really say. Just nandroid and try I guess
even the most talented devs were noobs once... so there's hope for the rest of us!
openfire v2.3 has worked well for me, although im also looking for a 2.2 rom with sense that actually works

[Q] Upgrading to 2.1 stock (no custom ROM, not rooted)

So, I see that there is a 2.1 update for the HTC Hero CDMA from Sprint and I'm very interested in upgrading to be able to use some of the better software out there that doesn't work on 1.5.
The thing is, I finally managed to fix this phone from a bad rooting procedure (it's a used phone, the previous owner rooted it using who-knows-what method and ROM, which caused the wifi to stop working) after spending weeks on the problem and finally have a good, fully-functional phone. So, now, I'm a bit paranoid about any rooting or upgrade procedure, though I suspect and official update from a Sprint shouldn't cause a problem.
I'm also considering doing a basic rooting (no custom ROM) so I can boot into ClockworkMod Recovery and make a complete backup, but, again, I'm very leery about it.
Is there any possibility that rooting, in and of itself, could cause the wifi to stop working or was it that the specific ROM that was installed didn't have the right wifi driver?

Dude there are literally thousands of people running custom roms flawlessly ....taking that in to consideration, what do you think the answer to your question is? Lol for liability purposes we all have to say "there's a risk" but my 11 year old sister rooted her evo and flashed cm7 without any help

Fair enough, the custom ROM that was used must have been a crappy one.

Well we've had some that had broken wifi long ago but really you probably just could've flashed a new working kernel over it and the problem would be gone. If you wanna stay stock-ish I'd recommend fresh 2.1 but if you wanna really see it fly flash kush-deck gb. Flash the. 29 kernel after you boot and you will never regret it

Thanks, I'll check those out sometime. Have you got links for them?
Believe me, you don't want the stock Sprint 2.1 on your Hero. It's terrible. Super slow and it freezes constantly. I ran it for a short time after Sprint released it and that's when I decided to root. If I remember correctly you also can't put your apps on the SD card with it which really limits how many apps you can install.
I am running CyanogenMod 6.0 Froyo with ADW Launcher (built into the Rom) and its snappy and reliable but still has a lot of the bells and whistles. Try Beautiful Widgets and you can have a homescreen clock with animated weather just like the HTC Sense homescreen.
I tried CM 6.1.1 recently (updated froyo with new features) but it used more internal memory than 6.0 which made my phone laggy.
Be sure to get the appropriate Google apps zip file with the new Market

what's 2.1?
Android Eclair. 2.2 is Froyo

I managed to find some of the software I was looking for and I'm actually pretty happy to run 1.5; I actually find it quite usable.
