I want to upgrade my X1's ROM but I'm afraid if it's fail.
Is there any way to back up my ROM so if the upgrade wasn't success I can revert it back?
If it has been posted before, please let me know plz
Have never been beaten, don't be afraid,it is not hard to flash ROM
yinjianweizxc,
I'm just afraid. I got this nightmare when I was 'like' flashing my iPhone and it's not going well and I couldn't restore it back. The moderator who make the restore never answer my Question. After 2 months, I have to give up.
I just didn't the same nightmare happen to me.
And I'm still looking for a clean (with X1 standart 3rd applications) ROM 6.5.3 (without HTC Sense or anything that is not originally from SE).
Can you help to show me?

Hi all,
I'm semi-noob on this--I've unlocked, upgraded my dopod 838(wizard) to one of the qtek9100 roms a few months ago and now I see the new official AKU2 roms!
I did my best to stay away, but now that I know it exists, I must upgrade! However, after having to reinstall everything and do all my tweaks when I did my last upgrade, I've been researching like mad to find an alternative to redoing everything.
Is there a way to backup my files, settings, tweaks, etc and then do the rom upgrade and restore those files/settings/programs so I don't have to dig through all my stuff to get my phone back to the way I like it?
Sorry for a dumb question! Just wanted to know for SURE before I hit the button =)
I like to start over with WinMo as it was ex factory...having a few issues with our cooked rom's. However, the ClearSnapVue form HTC now times out when trying to clear it.
What are my options? Would a full restore to Vista etc also restore SnapVue?
Any ideas welcome.
vista reset will not re set snap view
vista reset will not re set snap view .
What you need to do is actually use the stock rom and falsh it to your Shift .
Do a search , I beleive there is a stock roma uploaded and a thread exists in xda.
cheers
Thanks for that...will search. I've noticed for some reason my Shift has started to consume power at a much faster rate when switched off...only lasts a few days now where as I would get a week prior. Maybe using the stock ROM will fix that.
did you ever manage to restore the shift WM side to the original ?? i need to restore it as well ..
No I didn't - what I should have done was take a ROM dump prior to using the first cooked one...I'm back with i00's ROM as it's the only that is truly stable with my device. I do have a friend in New Zealand with a Shift and if I can convince him I will take his non SPL'd device and dump the ROM. If I manage that I'll post it for all.
I'm sure that the Original Stock HTC ROM with snapvue is available on this forum.
You can flash it. You will still have a SPL-ed device, but a Stock ROM.
Thai Hugo's one isn't stock standard and I haven't found any others that are close....which one were you thinking of lucid? Cheers

if it's still available from that link I don't know, but surely the guy who posted it can help further.
Hope you get what you need !
Thanks for that - will try to d/l tonight...will post results. CHeers
dear all:
i have a question and need xda fans to help me.
can we back up a ROM, i mean, i got my x1 repaired and as default i have now windows 6.1, i want to flash a new Rom but i want to have a back up for this 6.1 windows.
so is there a way???
if yes, HOW???
Thanks all for your help and kind respond.
it's all in the stickies, no need to start a new thread
to backup your current rom read Angelusz thread and as you recently restored your device for warranty reasons you already know about stock roms/spl and where to get them
so I fail to see your problem
cheers
10x for your help
I just bought a used GSM factory touch pro 2 from a guy. It's been hacked with some sort of rom from XDA.
- Can someone please point me into the right direction to throw back on the stock wm 6.1 or 6.5 with TouchFlo3d.
I know NOTHING about this stuff as you can tell, but am willing to give it a shot to try and boot the stock rom back onto the phone (if that makes any sense).
If it helps. i already have 'co0kie's Home Tab Editor, which I don't know how to use/don't need. and I have total commander already on my phone.
thanks in advance for any help - I really do appreciate it. I've been wanting one of these phones since they came out last year and I just want the stock ROM ( boring, I know.. but I'm not confident enough with this kind of stuff).
Cheers

Everyone has to start somewhere...
read this post: [Resources] Flashing your First GSM Rhodium Rom (For Noobs)
it is a sticky so will be at the top of this forum section.
Since you already have a custom rom and therefore hardSPL you just need to follow step 3. Dont worry about flashing a new radio (step 4) unless you want to.
Thanks mrj
I just found out that I have a SEA version of the phone after blindly luckily stumbling upon the sea version of htc's website for the stock ROM. I can't seem to sync the phone and windows mobile for my pc thought. But I will follow those steps you have laid out for me. Thanks again mrj
Cheers
Try a hard reset on your phone and reinstall the activesync software on the PC, otherwise you can try to flash via SD card (I think) I never actuallly tried it.
I always flash thru via sd card since i am on the go most of the time. You would have to go to HTC to get the stock rom for TP2 but if your looking for roms in specific country then have to check here in XDA or HTC. good luck with the search if you need info we can help
Here's my problem, i have an htc hd7 with windows 7.8 (Seveneighter) i had problems with my sms threads so i backed it up (zune) and hard reseted my phone, started from scratch!
i want to be able to unlock my phone and backup my sms from the above mentioned (backup) and compile it with the new thread after the backup.
FYI, i downgraded my bootloader and tried to upgrade through zune to get to 7.8 so that i coud restore my zune backup whilst my phone is unlocked, but i noticed that the bootloader changes after mango upgrade.
is there anyway that you can help me ?!!! plzz i would very much appreciate it !
This will sound harsh, but...
Idiot! every upgrade made by Zune always does an upgrade to the bootloader.
Forget the stupid official rom + unlock, that's trash at best for the average Joe.
Just downgrade your rom, and go for Deepshining or Dynamics and you'll be fine...:good:
BTW, are you asking for help from the big guns? really? Come on man, they are busy with more important business'.
Now, go downgrade that phone and install whatever rom you want, as long it's a custom rom.
regards.
hey man i really appreciate your input, but you till havent solved my problem. my main agenda is to be able to retrieve my sms thread from the backed up official rom onto the custom rom....is there anyway to do that???
a short and pragmatic NO
i was hoping you wouldnt say that man!!! this is terrible news however i very much appreciate your help on this.
cheers buddy!!
alright one more question then ill get outta your hair, i installed sms backup. i uploaded my .txt msgs to skydrive, is it possible to restore them directly from skydrive? or do i have to go through the process of backing up and restoring .vol files?????
