I just want to verify a few things I've been reading about
My phone is rooted.
1. The current releases of Froyo are off the pre-release that was leaked, correct?
2.Hence it wont have all the features?
3. To upgrade to a froyo release i would have to wipe, update radio and then flash the update?
4. If i want to go back to say cyanogen 5.0.7, do i have to wipe, revert back to previous version of radio, and flash cyanogen?
---or is flashing back to previous radio not necessary?
5. If i made a nandroid backup of my current cyanogen installation, and I try out froyo, but then decide to restore the backup, do i need to flash cyanogen first before i do so?
Thanks in advance!
1. Correct.
2. I don't know. It appears to have all the features that were promised on the I/O.
3. No need to wipe, but it's somewhat recommended. Radio is included within the update.zip if you download the correct zip of course.
4. Don't know about the specifics, but you don't need to reverse the radio. If you don't, then video recording won't work, and SD mounting might get buggy. You could always switch to CM 5.0.8 test3. It requires the new radio.
5. Nandroid does a backup of everything, except the radio.

So in order for video and mounting to not be buggy to work with 5.0.7 i would need to flash back the radio, correct?
And for the nandroid, i just restore and no need for wiping or flashing?
You would need to flash the previous radio back, yes.
If you do a nandroid backup, then flash the froyo with the new radio, you will have to flash the old radio before you do a backup restore, if you want everything back the way it was. If you just want to test Froyo, do a nandroid backup and then flash the version without the new radio. Everything, except video recording (and buggy SD unmounting), works.
And yes, no need to wipe nor flash on a nandroid restore.

Rather have everything working to get the full experience, i dont mind doing an extra re-flashing step
Thanks for all the help!
P.S. Any recommended froyo builds?
There's only really one right now: the stock one. All others are just apps added to the stock one. Real builds will follow after Google releases the source of the Froyo.

I seem to have an unusual SGS problem...
My music player plays mp3's via headphones only while using stock rom. I've tried stock, branded 2.3.6, newest MIUI and Darky 10.2 (a bit earlier: Cyanogenmod). In every single one the music player stops playing mp3's and system sounds via headphones just after flashing. Music plays normally on stock, kernels don't seem to make a difference.
Has anyone come across such problem? Googling doesn't seem to help...
Chance .....?
Well you should Start checking several things and after that the SOLUTION appears.
1-First upgrade your SGS to latest official android which is 2.3.6.
Find a firmware which you can root easily.
2-After flashing completed and before booting the operating system enter CWM.
3-Do not Factory Reset, simply Wipe Dalvik Cache & Battery Status.
4-Download custom ICS 4.0.3 RC 3 firmware for SGS from:
http://www.hlusoe.info:5000/hotfile/141757929/hlusoe.info_ICS_4.0.3_r1-RC3-I9000.zip
After Flashing finished, check and report back.
<<<Good LUCK>>>
I'm not so eager to install an ICS ROM in unstable state. Do you think this would solve problems with installing MIUI? Is this a bug fixed by ICS?
I'm reviving this thread after almost a year, but since my sgs started getting slower and slower, and the ICS roms started getting more and more stable I decided to flash a custorom once again...
So far I've tried flashing:
-CM 10.0
-Paranoid Android 2.54
-[jOP40D] OFICIAL ANDROID 4.2.1 <RC2>
-CM 7.1
None of those roms solves my problem - the loudspeaker doesn't work (most of the time). When I try to play music or sound an alarm I can hear silent white noise, as if the loudspeaker was powered on, but nothing more. Interestingly the loudspeaker works perfectly normal when I try to use it during a call.
The loudspeaker works perfectly normal on stock rom installed using this guide, both rooted and unrooted. It also works on this 2.3.6 rom, rooted and unrooted.
Before flashing I restored to 2.3.5 via odin (1.82 and 3.07), I followed guides as closely as possible. Usually I flashed roms using cwm. I tried changing as many sound related settings on each of those roms as possible - the whole testing process took me about 2 days.
Does anybody have an idea what to try next?
Hi,
I recently started having issues with the other party not hearing me well. The problem is with some words disappearing randomly.
It all started after I installed blackrose and ICS radio, which I then downgraded to 29m radio.
Since then, I've reinstalled ROM and tried different radios, but it didn't help. I was previously with 14m virtuous affinity and didn't have this problem. Now I have the same and the only difference is hboot.
So, although it doesn't make much sense - is there any chance that hboot may have affected the voice quality?
If not - any suggestions where to look the problem for would be most welcome
Never had problems like this. First of all, backup your ROM, than try a full wipe. If that doesn't solve it, here is a link for the newest radio from lost.prophet's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1685433 I can't post the direct link, so just scroll down to FAQ and than recommended radio. Flash this and than test again. If the problem still remains, try switching the ROM. For testing an ICS ROM would be best, I guess.
I installed the CM 10.1 20130327 nightly, and like other posters had Bluetooth issues that I can temporarily resolve with wiping cache and Dalvik. After a period of use however, Bluetooth always dies. Unfortunately, I'm now having Bluetooth issues on the stock ROM (OTA ICS). If I switch between CM and stock, Bluetooth is dead on the stock ROM. The only way to get it back is to restore a nandroid backup of stock ICS.
Any ideas are much appreciated. TIA.
Hey!
Is it possible to have viper4android on stock rom? I may have messed up backing up the ta partition so I would like to know if I could run rooted audiomods on stock rom. Basically I tried backing up ta partition on android 8 but the camera wouldn't work and then I flashed android 9 and now my camera works but the stock equalizer doesn't... I don't know if there is a way to get the equalizer back or not...
