Hi,
I just purchased the scala rider intercom
its an intercom system for motors. I am having one issue with my N1 on voice dialing. I can give a command to voice dial and while the phone is "on" (that is, the screen is on) it works, kinda, it gives me the suggestions of the name I just said. when I press it on my phone it dials. ( so to be clear the input command is done by my scala head set.)
obviously this isnt how it should works. I need to give the command and not touch my phone at all. When my phone is "off" (that is, the screen is off) it does give a vibrate signal after I give the voice command, but it doesnt dial. I suppose this is because the phone wants me to choose and confirm the name i just shouted.
I tried adding 'mobile' to a name in my list. when voice dialing normally it only prompted the correct name (no other suggestions), but the nexus still wants you to confirm it. I cannot confirm a name while riding a bike so I actually want it to just call the first suggestion. its always right anyway.
the scala rider manual doesnt say anything, it just refers you to the phone's manual. but I cant get it to work.
I cant really test it on my 'normal' bluetooth headset, because it doesnt support any voice dial options.
does anyone know if I can force the nexus to dial the first suggestion? maybe someone has experience with voice dialing via a Bluetooth system and has another solution..??
any help is much appreciated.
Tom
I have a Scala Q2, however i have never used it for voice calls.
However have you tried to 'confirm' the call by pressing one of the buttons on you Scala. I think one is accept and the other is decline.

Been trying to solve this problem for a while, noone seems to have the answer.
i have recently installed MS voice commander (wonderfull software btw), but i find it useless since i cant use it when i most need it and that's when the phone is in the pocket and i have handsfree plugged in (the cable).
the button can do only 3 things by default. pick/hang up calls and redial last number.
is there any way to map a program to it? so when i either press and hold or better yet, press it once i get voice commander running?
I use Bluetooth and I hold the button down and MS command comes up.
What brand of headset are you using?
i use the standard hands-free that comes with the phone. I've tried a number of solutions for Bluetooth devices but none of them worked.
this headset connects through the usb port at the bottom of the device. cant find any way to even detect that button from inside the device.
what you have on your BT looks like exactly what i'm after. with voice commander it's possible to use most functions of the phone without touching it, but it's pointless if you need to get it out to start VC in the first place.
I may not be of any help here as I have not used Voice Commander but..
If you go to 'Settings' 'Voice Speed Dial' you will see a tab at the bottom for Application.
I just use this as it responds to a single press from any headset.
Soz if I'm intruding.
not quite what i need. i want to call voice commander directly with the button.
it would've been easier if i could already run voicedialer or any other program from the headset. but nothing works.
Alright, I'm probably going to get flamed to high-hell for this one, but I know someone must do this, and I did a search but it matched on a whole crapload of posts, and I didn't want to go through every single page, so sorry.
Anyway, I have a bluetooth headset and MS VoiceCommand 1.6. I'm trying to make it so that I can give voice commands (such as calling someone) over the headset, and possible hear the announcer over the headset as well. Can someone PLEASE steer me in the right direction.
TIA
Not sure what you need. Install it, make sure your headset is paired, either activate voice command on the phone itself and give instructions (I have mine mapped to "hold PTT - Button 6") OR when I push my multi function button (Blue Ant Z9), the voice command beeps...I then state "Call John Smith" - Voice command responds with either "Call John Smith?" (If I have only one number for Smith) or "Call John Smith Mobile or Business". Then answer the question either 1) yes or 2) mobile. Voice Command dials. You can find all the available instructions in your documentation or at the Voice Command site. Let me know if you have any other issues. I'm a total newbie and it was pretty easy to get used to it and I love the program now.
yeah you would think it would be that easy, but I just cannot get it to work. The BT works, and VoiceCommand works, but they don't work together....strange.
Yep, was 'automatic' for me too. as soon as i recorded voice tags for my contacts i just hit the command button on the headset, wait for the prompt and say the name. it is played back and then the number dialled.
sweeeeet.
quote from another post here:
"Here is what I did:
1. Open BT Voice Command Config from Programs. Uncheck XCSdm
2. I put in 2 strings under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand
Default = "\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe"
Path = "\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe"
I put "" around the strings - and the voicecmd.exe is SMALL case voicecmd not VoiceCmd.exe
3. Deleted the other keys under VoiceCommand
4. deleted the BT headset pairing - the paired jawbone headset again... perfect.
;-)
Don't know if you need both reg entries... but it is 5 am here... i have been up all night trying to fix this... Happy now."

Sorry for the totally simplistic answer. Thought you just didn't get how to work it (been working with someone who is totally clueless on this locally). I think the above thread should provide the help for you. Also, try a reinstall. Mine wasn't automatic at first. When I reinstalled after I flashed my first ROM, worked fine.
I had some problems at first getting voice command to work with my bluetooth headset. If you paired your headset before installing voice command, unpair and re-pair the headset with the phone. Hopefully that will work. Also, make sure your phone isn't set to vibrate or mute. This may cause voice command to work, but you can't hear the voice prompts.
Try the Bluetooth extensions from JetWare. I have seen that take what I considered to be a useless headset into one that works quite well.
I have been thru MANY dozens of headsets and I have come to the conclusion that in this case more than most...you get when you pay for.
Hence, I have the Jawbone and the Sony Ericsson HBH DS980. Both work great.
Brad
Brad- I am also have a ds980. It works fine with voice command. However I have problems in that it often seems to drop the bluetooth connection after a call or as I am initiating a call. I can press the play button and it eventually reconnects. It works fine for listening to music and never just drops the connection. Have you had any issue with this? If so what did you do to resolve it?
Alright, just got it working guys! The post above from kaluzu doesn't fully work, however it contains the original post where I found the full fix. First I did what was in the kaluzu post.
And then I did this:

1. Installed MSVC 1.6 (from the link in the TNT ROM posted earlier)
2. Soft Reset
3a. Made registry change to set Path = \Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe (no quotes)
3b. Change button assignment (assigned to Button 6/PTT in my case)
4. Soft Reset
5. Enable XCSDM
6. Soft Reset
7. Disable XCSDM
8. Soft Reset
9. Pair Bluetooth Headset
It seems to be working...the best I can figure is that when it initially gets installed the XCSDM doesn't have any value at all, but by enabling it, and then disabling it, it actually turns it off as opposed to having a null value. Also note that since I am using Alex's 'UltraClean' ROM, there were never any Cyberon installation traces, and therefore I ignored those sections.
In any case it seems to be working great and I'm very happy.
Thank you everyone for all your help, and hopefully what I listed above will help someone else.
Hi all
I've searched the forum and couldn't find a solution to this.
I need to be able to activate voice dialing through the bluetoth headset call button so that i can call someone while i'm driving without having to look at my x1.
in my old tytn, i installed voice commander 1.2 and assigned it to the left side memo button. when i pressed the Bluetooth headset button once, it would open the voice commander and route the mic through the headset, so i was able to say the name into the heasdset.
but in my x1, a single click on my BT headset doesn't do anything and a long press only redials the last number.
i couldn't find any simple way to...
1-click on the headset button
2-voice commander activates and routes the mic to the headset
3-the voice commander takes my command and dials the number.
the closest i came to is to assign voice commander to a hw key on x1 not the headset buttn and when i press it, i must say the commande in the x1 mic not the headset.
so. to cut it short....any body was able to dial using the bluetooth headset?
I use Voice Command, that allows voice dialling through my Jawbone Headset.

MSVC does by replacing the the dll with it's own.
My rom also does by replacing dll from HD.
Me too, I use MS Voice Command with SonyEricsson HBH sets and all work by pressing the button on headset which brings up the mic from voice command to command-the-phone

MS Voice Command 1.6 here. It works about 75% of the time. Sometimes it doesn't work. No idea why.
Of course, I also have no idea why the Bluetooth disconnects randomly, for no apparent reason.
The same Parrot CK3100 works 100% of the time with a Nokia E71-2, and it works 100% of the time with an old Motorola Q9h.
No idea what the freak is wrong w/the Xperia.
Both the Voice Command issue (25% failure) and the Bluetooth disconnection happens with both the X1a and the X1i that I just sold.
Yes of course, if the bluetooth doesn't work then the bluetooth voice command cannot work. There was this bluetooth disconnect issue with the fw R1A but should be better with the fw update to R2A.
Did you update your phone yet?
As long as my headset is connected, voice command works 99.9%.
did you just install MS voice commander and it worked straight away? or did you change any settings or do any button assignments?

I'm on the UK R2A that was dated 20 Feb 2009. Bluetooth is still buggy.
There still seems to be some occasion that the phone goes into some kind of standby mode that causes Bluetooth not to be instantly available, and no doubt this affects the performance of Voice Command.
But, having said that: There are still times that you know the phone's not in standby, and Bluetooth + Voice Command is still buggy. Sometimes the phone responds with the Xperia speaker, and sometimes the phone responds w/the car speakers, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

I did not have to do anything special to get it to work the way that I wanted, except to assign the right silver button to Voice Command.
Can anyone tell how to make voice command or voice2go work with bluetooth headset?
Can you use all the available commands of MSVC?
Hi all, I have also installed the MSVC on my Xperia and the voice dial feature works fine, but I have tried to use other voice commands (just say "help" for a list of available commands) like "What time is it?" and it doesn't work.
Has anyone else tried it?
Update: I figured it out: you have to enable the "Status" option in MSVC settings!
MS VC R3AA013 & Jawbone Prime
Hi All
Had MSVC 1.6 on my x1 (R2a), all working fine, just been given a Jawbone Prime (thought result), BT linked up no worries. Tried to use MSVC over BT & not a thing. Can make a call manually n Jawbone picks it up, can use VC on my phone n Jawbone will pick it up, but picking up my phone with a BT sort of defeats the object of the exercise. Have looked all over XDA, and get a mixed impression, does a BT headset work with an X1 & MSVC?
Tried a couple of registry tweaks & nothin & I've now updated to R3 to see if that makes a difference but no joy.
Have I missed something here? Or am I just special?
I missed something!
I was using the wrong button, gotta use the assassin button & not the talk button. D'oh.
Having same issue as original post. WM6.5 w/ voice command loaded. Can't get bluetooth headset to initate voice command prompt. I have had to attach it to one of the buttons on the phone - but not ideal b/c of the incoming handsfree laws here.
Any suggestions?
Ok so I'm having a similar problem here. I have the X1a with WM 6.1 and MS Voice command 1.6 and my bluetooth is a Nokia BH-212. My blue tooth has a volume rocker and one master button for all functions. My issue is that yes I can answer with my bluetooth by pressing once, I can hang up the same way. If I press twice quickly it redials the last number. However when I hold the function button for the right amount of time (you get a long tone) it is supposed to activate the voice command prompt but instead i simply get the dialer on my screen. No prompt, nothing.
I have looked into the phone as much as I can to try and find something with no luck. I am a newbie so please be gentle. I just want that feature to work and my phone will do almost everything I want it to. Thanks all
I have the Incredible and will probably have to wait until the end of the year to see 2.2. I was hoping those of you lucky enough to have 2.2 could answer a question about 2.2.
Did Google fix the inability to hit the button on your bluetooth headset to trigger voice dialing?
Thanks!
Yes I believe so. Full Bluetooth support is now present which includes initiating from the headset. Can someone else confirm?
Sounds right. It also picks up the phone if it detects a bluetooth headset connect while the phone is ringing.

Yes. Press the headset button and the screen shows sample voice dialing commands while the headset says, "speak now." You say "call John Smith", the headset says "calling John Smith" and dials.
It's a little different from the way it was on Windows Mobile, where the phone asked, "Call John Smith?" and you had to say "yes" or "no," but you can still abort the call using the headset button if the phone misunderstood your command.
I haven't used it much, but it's 2-for-2 for correct voice recognition on the test calls I made.
I searched and found only old information from last year on this...
Does anyone have bluetooth headset-initiated voice command dialing working with their Captivates?
If so, please tell me exactly how you are accomplishing this -- what bluetooth headset, what ROM, what apps, your procedure for initiating a call from your bluetooth headset.
I'm not interested in any procedure that involves looking at or even touching the phone itself. I need a solution that will let me place a call to the contact of my choice solely from my bluetooth headset -- just push the button on the headset, tell it who to call and reliably make the call to the contact and phone type (mobile, home, etc.) that I tell it.
I am currently using the new Andromeda ROM but would be very interested in hearing what new ROMs do this well.
Thanks!
I am running Paragon ROM and I am able to make calls through my car stereo via Bluetooth voice dialing. Leave the phone in my pocket, hold a button down on my stereo until the voice asks for a command, I then say "Call Contact". If they have more than one number it asks if I want to call them at home work or mobile. I say "Mobile". The voice then repeats "Call Contact mobile"
I am running Paragon RC5.1, but Bluetooth voice dialing has worked for me since I first flashed with RC3.
