As far as I know screen burn is unavoidable with the notification bar shining bright white. Best way to minimize it's effects are:
- screen brightness turned down
- downloading Dolphin HD browser and using full screen mode

but can i sent the phone for raplacemant

If its really bad screen burn contact HTC to see what can be done regarding a replacement tomorrow.

To prevent the burn-in you should use a dark notification bar mod, maybe the HTC Sense notification bar.
With black color no pixel gets switched on and the light of the pixels doesn't get consumed (as much as with a white bar).

Launcher pro has an option to hide the notification bar. You can find it on the market.

I use ADW launcher which gives me the option to hide the notifications bar, and use the Dolphin HD browser in full screen mode.
If you want the notifications bar then just root and install a dark/black bar.

N1 Image burn on the status bar

Has anyone notice the image burn on the status bar? Have you tried either with Launcher Pro BETA or ADW Launcher without status bar and with lighter background to see if your Nexus One showing the image bar burn on the display?
Its a known issue and has been discussed a million times.
There's nothing you can do about it. I've heard if you let your screen on for hours with a white image it will go away in time, but you need to combine this with a launcher that hides the notification bar.
Nothing new. Darker status bar and rotating the screen helps to keep this from hassle happening.

[Q] [Req] hidden Status Bar

Hey all you talented developers,...
as our SAMOLED Displays suffer from degradation of the organic LED when constantly emmiting bright white or blue,
some of us found here the need of a hideable status bar.
I searched all the internet and all of this forum but couldnĀ“t find such an app.
Is there any app or widget possible which can hide or un-hide the status bar?
Or is there any adb code that hide it and onther adb code that un-hides it??
Any help would be highly welcome.
Somehow ist should be possible.... at least we are on android
greetz the bapsack
Edit:
P.S.
1. as far as I know no launcher hides the statusbar permanently
2. even though some (!) apps might support fullscreen the status bar is still there in most apps
Both LauncherPro and Zeam have hideable status bars. See market.
the status bar is only hidden in the launcher
if you open any app e.g. internet or navigation the status bar is back in its place
Try dolphin browser, it has full screen I think

I wonder if adding the notitlebar attribute in the framework manifest would work
No clue though, will try when have time or someone else could
Degradation? I don't think so.
Anu source?
I think the display only suffers from a minor burn-in problem, where the burn in disappears after somewhile.
well take this pic of a blank white screen aas a proof
you can still see the status bar as a shadow

ADW.Launcher has a hidable status bar. You just flick your finger UP, the status bar hides. Flick it UP again, it returns.
PS : I can fit in 5 rows of icons easily.

the aim is to hide the freakin status bar permanently
e.g.: even when navigating, web-browsing or running any other app
This adw.Launcher can NOT do!
Just start any app and zack, back is the statusbar no matter what launcher u use ADW.Launcher, Lauchner.Pro or Zeam
I have status bar burn in, viewable on the screen test blue background.
5 months, low brightness, status bar hidden most of the time using launcher pro.
Pretty sad really

That's not even a Galaxy S hah, and no burn in here with launcher pro 99% of it's life. I'm not sure how this is viewed, but if someone without a status bar is getting the same thing, it's seems a bit irrelevant in general to blame the status bar?
@bapsack
I accidently thanked you for that post hah wanted to quote it, anyways the reason for that is because it's not possible to replace that yet obviously, nothing integrates all the dynamic info it displays. It's required sorry bud!

tell me how to do and I will check
My bet is:
-make your notification bar 0-20% black
-set 50%/50%/20% R/G/B color for notification bar font and make icons with blurred edges in the same color
NO way you will get a burn.
Thnak you MACHETE.

Status Bar Redefined

Hey there people.. I am a big fan of android and custom roms particularly the cyanogenmod and how they let you totally customize your phone. I am here posting this thread for a different reason.
Can the status bar be redefined?? Instead of the age old static status bar on top of the screen, if it can be modded into a dot or some kinda mini icon which expands on clicking it and glows when you have a notification just like the LED that would be great. And if you can give some visual effects like each of the notifications sliding from the side of the screen it would be cool..
Imagine you have just the dot and it is present on all the apps or games, instead of big black bar floating on your screen and eating away your screen, you click on the dot, the notifications open, and close back on clicking on the icon, you can continue what you were doing without leaving the app.
Developers please have a look at this and do it.. It would be a great success..
It's a nice idea, but I think most of us want that instant info when unlocking the phone. I want to see time, wireless signal and battery at a glance. Not unlocking, then pressing a dot or icon first! It would be neat if what you are suggesting could be implemented on full-screen apps though! i.e not having to leave Gallery when you hear a notification but don't have a statusbar...
Reply
How about giving that option in settings, like an option of seeing signal, battery status alone with the icon/dot or show the full status bar or just the dot..
If there were options of clicking the dot and opening up only how much you want as in just the network bar and battery status and you click the dot again it open up some more with some visual effects and just again if you want a detailed expanded notifications.
Just saying..!
Please drop in some ideas
And it would be awesome if everyone who takes a look at this thread drop in some suggestion or their view or their idea..
Thanks..
Would be cool

You could have all those readings on the lockscreen for the instant info and still have the status dot when you unlock.
I want something similar to the tablet UI, that's what's awesome

I second/third/fourth/thousand this idea. I can visualize what OP is imagining and I agree, sounds like a project that would take off.
Here's my .02;
Dot colors should be customizable
We should have the liberty of choosing where it shows up On our screen edges (X,Y access)
Maybe the possibility of using our own images. As in I can whip up different icons and make them pop up instead of the dot. Cool idea for personal logo use, strictly to show off of course.

Glad!
I am glad many have liked the idea.. another idea is you can choose the background of the notification bar that opens as in transparency, black, white etc..
Whenever you get a notification ripples flow from the dot indicating the notification and each color indicating a different notification..
Ohmy..!! my imagination seems to have no bounds..
Any developers?
Any developer who is interested???
How about something like using the google labs settings in the ICS browser. Whenver you put your finger on the side of the screen, your options pop up but in addition to options you time, signal, date, send message etc...

This would be really nice. I've grown so accustomed to the Browser's Quick Controls, and its one reason I rarely use Chrome.
And for now you could use Apex launcher, and set option for swype down to toggle notifications, and swype up to hide/show notification bar...
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2 Beta-2
To sum up
options : full status bar
mini status bar
just the dot/custom icon
animations : ripple
glow
color of the notification bar : transparent
black
white
gestures : enable/disable
Any more additions??

Screen dimmer for the nav bar?

On Android 7 and below, a couple screen dimmer apps, like Darker, were able to dim the nav bar and status bar. Seems Android 8 kills that. Any workarounds or apps updated to d the nav bar?
Was wondering about that as well.
My main problem is the notification drawer, which burns my retinas at night.
Currently using Twilight.

I also use Twilight (have done for years) and have the same issue. It's disappointing that Sony removed the standard Night Mode from Oreo, because I've seen it on a mate's Pixel and it works very well - like Twilight did on previous versions.
I use the xBlack - Red Theme where the buttons are just grey dots and it's ok for my eyes. So maybe that's a solution.

There are ways to mod the looks of your phone without having to root Andromeda can be set up with a couple of ADB commands, this then gives you access to Substratum.
The modules that I use most are SX DarkRes, Swift Black and Spectrum.
Spectrum is probably the best place to start for custom dark nav bar.

Question Notifications always on screen

The colored notification icons on the always on screen are quite hard to see. The dark red Gmail icon for example barely stands out. Does anyone know if it's possible to show the all white icons here just as on the lock screen?
I use Holey Light which working great. The app has large icons with your own color definitiion and saves battery because AOD is managed.
