Help please.Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue as well? I can't turn WiFi on, and when I go into setting I see "error" right under WiFi. Is there anything that can be done?
Thanks
Sorry, I forgot to add that I'm on the stock Rom.
Nevermind. I just rebooted the phone, and now all works well.
Mod please close thread.
Thank you.

So I flashed cyanogen's 3.9 experimental ROM when it first dropped and all was well for awhile but I lost my ability to connect to 2G/3G about 24 hours ago. I've reflashed my radio image and that didn't fix things. I wiped and flashed 3.9 again and got stuck at the setup screen. reverted back to my nandroid backup (so I could use the phone at least) and started poking around in the settings revealed by the "secret code" posted by haykuro yesterday.
I've attached screenshots of the phone information settings page (reached by dialing *#*#4636#*#*), can anyone explain the errors I receive for ping test? And is my phone set up correctly for TMobile service? I am in a 3G coverage area.
I've set my radio band to Automatic, hit "Enable data connection via the "More" dialogue etc.
I've even added two new TMobile apns as suggested by overpower and still no data connection.
Any help in getting this sorted would be greatly appreciated, I'm kind of crippled right now.
Thanks in advance - innerspace
attention modulators...
mods, I guess you can kill this thread. G1 mysteriously rebooted itself and voila, 3g connectivity again.
Gotta love reboots as they can help solve a few things, much like a wipe.
Could you edit the title to include "[Solved]" please to alert mods and everyone else? Thanks.

Sure thing, will do that from this point forth.
I just flashed Serendipity 5.1 and at first everything was working fine including the WiFi. Soon after though the WiFi stop working. It turns on and tries to scan for networks but after couple of seconds it says "Unable to scan" and the WiFi turn off by itself. Anyone experience this? How am I able to fix this? Any help would be great, Thanks!
Have you reset your router? Try that first. If it still doesn't work you can try another modem or reflash and see if that helps.
This is my captivate. There are many like it buy this one is mine.
Unfortunately it sounds like you fell victim to a bad flash. Happens every so often with the Captivates. I have played with Mikeys ROMS and enjoy them greatly and WIFI has never been an issue for me.

I would agree with this. Just Odin back to stock, and reflash. See if that fixes your problem.
Yea looks like I am going to have to re-flash...
Thanks for the help though.

+1 no problem with the wifi.
I have a captivate that has been rooted and is on the cognition 4.5 rom. I lost the phone a while back, so I deactivated the service. Then a couple of weeks later I found the phone and reactivated the service. Everything was working fine, except for my wifi. When I would try and turn it on, it would just give me an "error" message. So then i tried restoring to an older backup to see if that would work. Still had the same problem. I then tried flashing back to stock 2.1, still didn't work. Then i updated to stock 2.2, and it still didn't work. Same error message in all instances.
How do i fix this?
Does your wireless router have a button on it to connect a device instantly, that works for me. Also try toggling airplane mode, that also works.

No my router doesn't have that button. And I have already tried the airplane mode On/Off. Still getting error message

Are you still under warranty? If so take it in for replacement.

I am not sure. Call AT&T and see if technical support can help you get it up and running. I am not being a jerk, this isn't sarcastic at all, use the search button on this forum and the Captivate General forum. Others have been in your shoes and got it working, I think those threads may help you get yours fixed. Wish I could offer more help
I know sometimes it is as simple as removing encryption from your router or setting up a static ip address for your phone. I am not familiar with these methods but I have read many threads and posts on the subject.

Thanks anyway
I just received a captivate from a friend, and naturally, I immediately rooted, flashed, etc. The wifi doesnt work at all, it will not turn on. I have tried MIUI4, MIUI, and an ICS rom, wifi doesnt work on all three. On top of that the radio doesnt work very well, no 3G, and when it says it has EDGE it still doesnt work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Did it work while you were stock? Can you flash back to stock and check? It might be time for a master clear and return to stock. That way you can be sure it is working properly.

Do you receive any messages when you try to turn it on or does it show that it's on and it just won't connect?
Ok since nobody will notice this problem on i9001 general topic on i9000 category, i will make a new thread here.
How do fix this problem ? after a long sleep, like 1-2 hours, wifi will automatically drop and 3g won't properly connect.
Also, Google Plus app can't be deodexed or installed either, so it gives crashes.
How do we fix these ?
Here use the xxkp4 modem http://dl.dropbox.com/u/63588663/SMD_MODEM_I9001XXKP4_CL374422_REV00_user_low_ship_EMMC.rar
Somebody with kq7 please try them and tell us if it's working.
But couldn't we have the modem from xxkq1 ? i am on kq1, just tell me what files to extract and i will make an archive.
I need these files in the "normal" version too (not at .smb format). Can anyone help?
i don't seem to be having the wifi issue... is there any other way i can test to see if i get the issue just to see if there is an isolated reason for the wifi drop...
Edit: just so you know it is XXKQ7 and i did factory data reset from privacy menu in settings after initial boot... and i haven't changed any wifi settings, it's not rooted either (kept it unrooted to test this wifi issue)...
check this thread guys maybe will help you a bit abt wifi probs ...
Nah, it didn't help me.
Tbh, i'll wait for Samsung official Value Pack ROM for us, since KQ1, KQ6 and KQ7 are beta.
