i am new to all these stuff(noob) so how can i update my at&t nexus to froyo?
i have downloaded the update and rename it and everything
but in the recovery screen i don't see the android pic that everybody see and when i press (flash zip from sdcard) it says:
E: No signature (455 files)
E: Verification failed
Installation aborted
what is wrong???
so here is all this mummbo jumbo stuff about my phone(i know my english sux sorry x_x)
rooted at&t nexus one
firmware version:2.1-update1
baseband version:32.24.00.22H_4.03.00.21_2
mod version:cyanogenmod-5.0.8-N1
build number:EPE54B
Where are you downloading your Froyo image from? If you're certain that it is supposed to work for your version (EPE54B), did you check the Md5sum, might have been corrupted.
froyo image?
and what is md5sum?? sorry am new to all these things
You have a custom recovery, that's the problem. You either need a fixed update.zip or to regress back to ERE54B and then update to FRF85B

oh so how can i do this?
Easy
Download this: http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Pas...gle_WWE_1.09.1700.1_EPE54B_release_signed.zip
Rename it to PASSIMG.zip and copy it to the root of the SD card. Power down the phone, hold the vol down button and turn it on again.
Fastboot will load, and ask if you wish to update. I suppose you do (this will wipe your phone though) so go yes and let it get on with it.
After it's finished, you'll have a clean ERE54B install which you can upgrade to FRF85B from.
Hi, I have a N1 with the stock firmware, updated to Froyo 2.2 build FRF91, but I have a modded recovery, Amon RA v.1.70. Now i wanna restore my recovery and flash the stock one, but i can't. I followed some tutorials but it's useless. Every time i type in the terminal fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, after went to the directory that I stored my unzipped files, it says FAILED signature. I don't know what I have to do. Help me please.

Kinda of the wrong section but here is what frankyyy02 says he did,

Yeah i had the same problem when i tried to revert mine to stock. My bootloader was lock and wouldnt let me reflash the stock rom with verification failed.
NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY, DO AT YOUR OWN RISK :
I renamed the image to PASSIMG.zip and booted into bootloader. The bootloader automatically searches for PASSIMG and when it found it went through an update/installing process which took about 5minutes. When it booted phone was unrooted again, and had the stock recovery.
Once that was done, i installed the FRF85 (i think) update.zip from bootloader recovery, then did the same with update.zip for FRF91.
Again not sure if this was the correct way as i have never seen posts directing to do it this way - have posted questions about it in the past week or two, but never got any responses...

Download the OTA package here
Rename it to update.zip, and place it on the root of your internal storage
Shut down your phone, and reboot into the bootloader by holding volume up and powering back on
Choose "recovery" from the list, and select it with the power button
When you see the red triangle press volume up and choose to update

IF YOU ARE ON CWM:
Just got an Android 2.3.1 update for Nexus S. It's on ROM manager if you want it. Make sure you flash recovery 3.0.
Also, for this to work you must be on Stock Recovery. This will not flash properly if you are using clockwork recovery

Correct. Koush is currently looking at fixing this for CWM.
Can we try to update and flash the zip using adb?
This was just tweeted:

edit nevermind got update
I just got prompted OTA for this update. Anyone know it I was to accept it, would I have any problems since I changed my recovery to ClockWork recovery?
I know it's been said it's on rom manager now, I am just curious if there would be any potential problems of accepting OTA updates with the stock recovery gone.
I have cwm recovery flashed and looked in Rom manager but is getting that "the rom you are using does not support ota updates etc" How did you manage to get Rom manager to update it to GRH78??
ive tried every way listed on xda but still get a "error 7" when trying to flash the update. i am using stock rom with clockwork 3.0. anyone having the same issue or any way to fix it?
usb disabled?
Got the message from Google to update. So I let it do its thing, said unable to update zip and now seems my usb connection is broken. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm on NS despite my sig Also on CWR 3.0 unlocked
are we supposed to be able to install this 2.3.1 update that we download from rom manager?

Well there is very little info in OP
and could be worded little better to avoid confusion
You have to put on Wifi and go to download ROM for some reason if you on on mobile network it wont show the update in rom manager
Dont bother it wont. From what i gathered we have to wait for modified version
Download the zip, choose to open with rom manager and it will flash fine with cw recovery 3.0.0.

Got great news! I got it to work! All I did was put the .zip file on the root of my sd and used Rom manager to "download rom" chose the .zip file and voila!! It installed everything fine. I am officially on GRH78. Hope that helps people out!
is this with the paid version or non-paid?
the CWM update will work of you have not used Koush's rooboot.img and are running a the rooted boot.img.
He said he will release a version later tonight that should work with rootbootimg installed as well.
glad im on stock recovery + root.
Tried SuperOneClick using both methods and it didn't work. Any suggestions?
I also would like to know this before I update.

I couldn't get it to work either... had to revert back to 2.2 and root using Super One Click from there to restore back to my CM7 backup.
I would suggest waiting for superoneclick to be updated to support gingerbread.
Yep, that's what I was going to do but was hoping someone had a way beforehand so I could my backups going again
Install the Gingerbread update using a custom recovery, then install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828 BEFORE rebooting.
Or if you want to root manually, follow the instructions for rageagainsthecage in my signature.

Tried to root manually with your instructions w/ rageagainstthecage but its not cooperating... Once I run rageagainstthecage, it will exit out of shell, then USB bugging dissapears on the N1 notification bar, and can't get it back without rebooting the N1, also it won't show up in windows device manager until N1 is rebooted...
Did you use this method to root your phone with 2.3.3 or did you flash the update then flash the other update to get root?
Thanks,
How did you revert back to 2.2? What Passimg.zip did you use? Or are you unlocked?

I flashed the update then flashed then flashed the other file I linked to. If rageagainstthecage doesn't work, try the newer exploit (psneuter).

This is exactly what's happening for me as well. Manual rageagainstthecage worked perfectly with froyo.

No need to unlock the bootloader. Just download the file, rename it to PASSIMG.zip, put it on the root of your SD card and boot into the bootloader. It will scan the file for a minute or so and then ask if you want to flash it. Just hit the up volume button to flash.
I've got what appears to be temp root with rage ($ changes to #), but I can't get the system to mount as rw, which is wierd...

It comes up with the message "Main Version is Older!" "Update Fail!"
My phone is not rooted and on official 2.3.3 flashed through stock recovery via update.zip
EDIT: Used first method, reflashed with passimg.zip (frg33) then updated one by one back to fgr83g, rooted (superoneclick) installed amon_ra, recovery via rom manager, put 2.3.3 gingerbread update on SD as update.zip, also put the su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip on SD.
Flashed 2.3.3 update via amon_ra recovery (had to turn off signature verification), once it reset (not rebooted) back to recovery picked to flash zip, picked su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip, (had to turn off signature verification again), rebooted, and now have root!! Now i can finally restore my apps
Worked great!! Thanks efrant!!!

It will wipe out everything except your SD card. You will have to reinstall all your apps, settings etc... Backup your apps with titanium backup first, along with a nandroid backup if you want.

Hey all,
sorry if this might be a dump question. I have a P7310 USA Retail with StockRom with CWM on it. Now I was offered a HC3.2 OTA Update, I downloaded it, but the installation is aborted. So is it possible to do OTA update with CWM installed?
Also if I only download the update, is there a location on the tab to download it to the PC?
Thanks,
Matteq

Yes , with CWM Recovery you cannot update with OTA, you may need your Old Stock Recovery for complete the instalation. (Android recovery 3E)
Still want apply the update with your CWM? Maybe you can extract the update.zip from /cache with dd from terminal emulator, then you apply the zip file from CWM recovery..
$ su
# cd /cache/fota/
# ls

see what kind of file from there..if you find the .zip, copy to sdcard (with dd command) and explore the file..(are the file structure flashable ? if yes, you can apply from cwm recovery..)

Thanks for the hint. There is unfortunally no /tmp... any idea?? Any chance to grap the Image from the server?
Cherrs,

sorry mateq, how about /data/cache..
i found bout that here
Maybe you can find some clue..
Give me a feedback if it works..
Or you can just flash the CWM version of it here. No risky Kies involved.
I have the US retail P7310 and I don't have any update for my tab, it is still on 3.1 and it says "No update avalaible" when I check it, is this normal?
All,
I didn't find the update somewhere on the storage of the tab. So I installed the posted and suggested version in the thread. Everything went fine!!! So now the tab is super smooth
I also didn't get the update notification, so if you like you can install the modified stock version out of the forum...perfect! now I have a rooted 3.2 tab with CWM.
Cheers,
Matteq
