I have gigabytes of tunes on my Nexus and have yet to find a way of searching for an item inside the phone. Google search takes me to the web, and holding down the G button gives limited options to search in contacts, market, notes etc...C' mon google, you can do better than that. Nokia has it down pat..

Go to your setting>search tab..more options there.
Astro or other file managers will help with scrouring sd card content.
Hit up the market and give Aurora Universal Search a poke.
Thanks for advice. The native search tips - works great on froyo, but my buddy's CM 5.0.8 it doesn't.
Off to the market for the app solution for him.

Hey all,
was wondering if anyone has a thrive rom dump? has some interesting sounding apps that would be awesome if we could get them over to the xoom, such as:
Perhaps our favorite app -- second only, perhaps, to File Manager -- is PrinterShare, an app that allows you to find nearby printers and print documents, photos, and webpages over WiFi. We fell in love as much with its ease of use as its utility. Just open the app, select an application from which you might want to print something, and then find a list of printable documents (or, in the case of the Gmail app, messages). We wish every tab came with something like this out of the box.

edit: nvm - mods delete if you want, couldn't find a thrive section, but just did a search, :fail: on my part sorry
you found it then? Could you post it?
Printershare is available on android market. The version from the thrive system dump doesn't look any different.
All of the games from the Thrive sysdump install and work fine on my Xoom.
BackgammonToshiba.apk
EuchreToshiba.apk
HeartsToshiba.apk
SolitaireToshiba.apk
SpadesToshiba.apk
NFSShift.apk - HD Version Demo

The Toshiba File Manager is worthless on Xoom, built for their device - stick with Root Explorer or ES.
i couldnt install backgammon, and printer share always hangs at 61% when openning a document.
Im having a really hard time downloading the whole system dump on my xoom. Could you possibly upload the apps that work well on our xooms?

I am not talking about paid/warez APKs, but would like to know if there is a trustworthy site that I can download free APKs from? For example, Softpedia is usually my goto site for freeware when I am looking for PC apps. Does such a site exist for Android? Thanks in advance for your replies and have a great day!
I forgot to mention that I am currently trying out the Amazon App Market.
Thanks,

Yes it does.
pandaapp.com is another good one. thats what i use for all my questionably legal app downloads
Same Boat
Why be so judgy im in the same boat also looking for a place to download to my pc because i have a game room that my wifi doesn't reach and the apps can only be downloaded via wifi or 3g (if available) using the play store, I would like to see google incorp. direct download to the tablet and phones via usb using your pc as a medium aka as long as your android device is connected via usb allow direct download
You can always try 4shared.com
I usually buy apps, but sometimes I like to take them for a spin before I buy them to see if it's worth it.
Remember, always support developers.
SlideME.org
I would say just search Google with the app name and .apk at the end. Works most of the time and I find the ones I need with no problem.
I would not recommend the Amazon App Store because last few times I downloaded, it would just bug out. Not sure if they fixed it now though.
APKs FOR THUNDERBOLT
TRY "MARKETPLACE.COM/ANDROID" see if you can't find something. I have in the past. At least give it a try
Good Luck

play store (android market) can wireless push / synch apps from android.market.com to any device synching to your google account / device. no need for usb. this has been available forever. as far as trustworthy freeware sites, some torrent trackers as well as a few other d/l hosting sites cater to this, but not many unfortunately.
I never had a problem with Amazon app store, plus you get a free paid app everyday.

Mediafire for sure. 4shared is also a great site.
I used to have this app, but now when I go to the market, the app is there, but the download link isn't. I noticed this with a few other Apps to... Anyone know why this happens? with the other app, I found the latest apk file and installed from there and this fixed the market link.
If it helps, i'm on pinnacle 1.2.
In the meantime, Anyone have the apk for the new mango?

Thanks for checking your market. I'm wondering if it may be because i'm in Canada and maybe there are some restrictions because of that.
Just to clarify my first post, I do find these apps in the market, but most of them do not have download buttons. If I find the corresponding apk and install from there though, then next time I look in the market, the update /uninstall buttons are there.
Once again, thanks for your help. I'll try another rom and see if it's different

I found the problem! I had changed my screen dpi, which seems to have caused some of the download buttons to disappear on the market. Just restated with native resolution and that solved the problem.
I hope that this can help people on the future.
And thanks to the dude that checked their market fir me. I'll thank you when I get to a computer

Thanks. I am typing from home at this time but I downloaded the xda app. Apparently, this app assumes you go directly to the app to read the forum. Is there a way to configure so when you receive an email notification from the forum to launch the app and go to that particular post?
Hello. I was wondering if one of you could put your huge brains to work on making an apk run on KFHD7. The app is for a local news station in Portland, Oregon.
GooglePlay link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwyLDEsImNvbS5rcHR2LmFuZHJvaWQud2VhdGhlciJd
It just doesn't work on the KFHD7 yet. Or at least I'm not able to download it from the market. I've tried to find it online, but the links all take me to the market or the 1 or 2 apk's I find don't run. I hope that this app just needs a few tweaks. But I am part noob, so what do I know.
There's no way that I would expect someone to do this. If it's a pain in the rear, then I would forget about it. If the process can be explained easily, then maybe someone could tell me how to do it. If not then, oh well.
Many thanks for even taking the time to read this.
If you have it installed on another android device, go to your Data/app folder and get the .apk yourself.

I tried that too. It didn't work. That's why I figured it would need some tweaks to get it to work on Kindle. It's pretty cool app for what it is.
