sms taking 5 mins to open!! PLZ HELP

Ive been having some problems with my tmo wing lately in terms of extreem lagging. Ever since I have used pocket mechanic to defrag my storage card, everything went to sh1t on my phone. I cant boot my phone with my storage card in the slot or it will just reset when it gets to the green windows mobile background. And most importantly, whenever I open "Messages" on my phone, it takes honestly 5 or more minutes to open, then another 5 to open sms/mms then another 5 mins to open/reply to a sms. My program memory is usualy always ATLEAST over 10MB and I had batery status running and while i was opening these windows at the task bar it showed it was using 0% or minimal processor usage, so im assuming that it's not executing properly... does someone have a fix for this? can someone help me out? because to temporarely fix the issue i have to reboot the phone... thanks!

Here's something you should try.
Remove the card then insert it into a card reader at your computer. Copy everything on it and then format the card using FAT16.
Now back-up everything possible on the phone. (in your case this could take a while). Place the back-up file on the computer, if you use the card for back-up reformat it again after you complete the process. Then hard reset the phone and check to see if it still has this problem. Place the empty card inside the phone and try to copy some stuff to it. If everything is ok, restore your files using that back-up you just made. Check to see if the problem manifests now. If it does, clearly there is something rong with your program configuration and you may want to reinstall all your programs manually.
If the phone still runs slow after a master reset you should try to rewrite the phone's ROM as a last resort option. (your back-up copy woun't work after this). If it still runs slow even after this, then... well that's bad. It's something I call "the dead slow card problem". I've tried to find a fix for this for about 3 years on different htc products, but with no succes. The good part is that there's a very small chance this can happen in the normal every day usage. Try this things first and tell me what happens.
wow... Before i even attempt this surgery, i just want to say thank you very much for taking the time to write all this. it's very appreciated.
Before i try all this, i got a few Qs.
What do i use to back up my stuff on my device? or do i just copy paste important stuff... if so what about extensions and associated files...
And what involves a hard reset? does it effect the registry tweaks that i have done? in the end... what will be reset?

I really appreciate ur help! ive done as u said and everything seems fine now... my phone is now back to scratch, which im happy with so I can start fresh and avoid all that junk I had on before... THANKS FOR UR HELP! UVE BEEN GREAT! A+

Storage memory full

Hi all,
I have searched around and found no answers.
my tilt was acting up a little so i decided to go back
to my previous best setup of all files.. so i ran my backupfiles (3 month old)
as this one had the right type of files I needed.
When I ran it, it did its thing and when it restarted it said that storage memory is full and some programs may not be able to function.
and ever since I haven't been able to use my tilt.. nothing functions.
I called up the ATT guys (2 AM LOL) and they were like, this is a fone problem and you'll have to take it up with the warranty guys to get it replaced.
I was wondering if there was anything I cud do to stop that replacement as this fone has gone thru a lot of modifications and I dont' wanna lose it!
Don't sound like a hardware issue. If you hard reset your phone and do not load your backup do you get this error? Or does this only happen when you try reinstalling from the backup?
If the backup was done from a different ROM it could be whats causing the problem.
If its happening right after a hard reset without you installing anything then its probably the device.
Check whether you have a recording file in main memory
This could have happened if you accidentally pressed the record button and created a large recording.
These files are usually stored in main memory.
It happened to me a lot in my AXIMS.
You can check by using start-settings-system-memory and there's an option to check which files are eating up your memory.
Another way would be to use the built-in file explorer and goto to the PPCs root directory and check there (or in MyDocuments).
no the backup isn't at fault.
I used this previously and it worked fine.
This time I installed the sprint version of the HTC today plugin and I wanted to get rid of the original HTC today plugin .. removed the HTC today plugin, did a soft reset, and all my data vanished (contacts/calendar details and stuff)..
so I decided to restore my backup which should have restored everything that I lost.
When the loading finished, it said that storage memory was low, and since then I haven't been able to do anything with the fone.. can't even do a hard reset.
It doesn't even respond to a USB being plugged in to re-install the ROM.

Have you tried a hard reset using the soft key combination? That should work regardless of any memory issues that would prevent you from getting to Clear Storage under Settings.
that's what finally worked.
It hit me at 4 in the morning
that there is a manual way
of doing a hard reset without
re flashing ..
thanks for all your interest peeps!

My memory on phone is 0.09MB :S

I was just listening to some music in S2P and then a message comes up on the screen and says I got low memory left, so i checked and it's only 0.09MB, i took a soft reset to check if it helped, it didn't.
It was 45MB earlier today, only stuff i installed is the new S2P for diamond and wifi and wlan button from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398050
And i installed it all on the 4gb drive not on the phone.
So i lost 45 mb without saving anything on the phone, what could have happened? :S
Please help me with this, I really dunno what's wrong.
Have a look at your PIM.vol
I and other peple I know have all had problems with it becoming absolutely massive.
It's in the root I think
Rory
I just tried to soft reset it and now i cant turn it on, it freezes when im about to write my pin code :S
If i need to do a hard reset, can i do when its turned off as well, and could someone say how i should do it. And what do you think could have caused this? I was only using s2p while it happened.

My X1 auto shut down and format

Hi
I dont know what happen to my X1,after i flash to some ROM,on a sudden,my x1 will shut down, and when i wanted to on back,it will take a long reboot time and suddenly will auto format..
After that,i flash with other ROM too..because i've though that maybe the current ROM problem, but the problem still happend to me,i wonder maybe its because of the X1 or my Memory Card..
Anyone have the same problem?or solution?thx btw
do you mean hard reset when talking about auto format?
maybe you should consider using this tool, but read carefully as some problems are reported along with the benefits!
cheers
Yes, Hard Reset,For your information, the problem occur before im using that task29 and after im using that task29,i dont know whether the problem is on the ROM or maybe..maybe the Memory Card?
It happened to my first custom ROM. And it happens every couple of months. I never found out what caused it.
Right now i remove the memory card and leave my x1 with internal phone memory..want to see what will happened because i suspect the memory card is the issue..
I dont know what happen to my X1.. this morning after about 16 hours i've flash my rom back to valkyrie and even remove my memory card(because i thought my memory card is the main problem)
The problem still occur..I wanted to on my wireless, and for certain time my X1 goes to standby mode which i need to press power button to on it back, suddenly the same thing happened..my X1 wont turn on back and when i remove battery to start it back,it stuck at SE logo, try it twice and same thing happened
I need to Hard Reset again..i dont know what is the problem, before this thing never happened to me
Help guys,please do help me..
I have the same problem, even with using task29. It seems to happen earlier every time, this time the system lasted less than a week.
Has anyone found a solution for that problem?
EDIT:
I just connected to the phone with MTTY to issue the task 29 command manually. The command does not work though:
Cmd>task 29
Cmd>

Same thing happened to me a year ago (on my birthday, no less, so I lost all my birthday messages). I flashed a stock ROM, used it for a day or two, then flashed a custom ROM. It's been over a year and it never happened again.

Big Problems with Button&Functions!!

HI,
at first:Excuse my bad Schoolenglish!
This is a great Forum,i found many answers, help and Apps here.
But now,i really need your help!
Suddenly,my Touch Diamond goes Crazy. The Cam shows only a black Screen,
the Vol.down-Button has no function and when the Phone got in Standby
i can't awake it with the Powerbutton!I must push the Resetbutton to restart
the Phone!
The biggest Problem for me is,i can't make a Soft or Hardreset!I try and try...but nothing happened.
I deleted(formatted) both Storage and flashed the normal HTC-Firmware on it.
The Standby works now!But the Vol.Down-Button doesn't work!
I read many Post's that Apps can make such Problems, therefore i deleted all
Storage and flashed the Firmware.
Ok,that's it,can anybody help me?
