At least with wifi, gps, bluetooth file sharing working &audio.
Camera & Video recording and google apps as well.
A2sd Integrated.
Anything else beyond that is a plus.
He does this on the HeroC forums too. He still doesn't get how deving works.
Wasn't it announced that 2.3 is too large to fit on the g1's memory? Froyo just barely fits...

if you look in the g1 dev section you will see there are some full 2.3 roms there try them out and see if they fix for what you are looking for
there are about 3 gb roms are being developed in the G1 dev section
- ezGingerbread
- CM7 unofficial
- COS-DS
ezGingerbread works just fine. Use the ADS MagPie build. It can be found in AnDisa or Firerat's sig.

Hey, I'm very new to android, all this rooting, custom roms etc. Anyways. I installed this ROM. (FROYO_2.2.1_Final_Android_Stock). And, I thought that Froyo 2.2.1 has Flash 10.1 by default, but it didn't, so I thought, hmm, I'll get it from market. But, it's not in the market. Could anyone of you help? I found an .apk, but when I installed it, it kept crashing my browser. Also, a question: Is the ROM I have the best one? In terms of speed, compatibility and app support? Or are there better ones?
EDIT: I pretty much need the Flash player only for watching streams - Livestream, UStream, JustinTV, Own3d.tv, ESL TV.

you can't get a stock froyo ROM with 10.1 as far as I know, however, ther chocolatefroyo ROM does have 10.1 running, but it has a camera bug which stops that from working. For now, you will have to choose between camera and flash.

There is no 'best' ROM, but it definitely isnt the stock one... I am running FroydVillain and I love it
The full Flash 10.1 is not possible on the Hero, the nearest you can get is Flash Lite which is only part of Sense ROMs. I'm not sure what its limitations are but you're best to just take a stable Sense ROM and find out, then see if it suits your needs.
I have recently changed my ROM and it doesn't have HTC's voice recorder.
Any chance someone could liberate the apk from a sense ROM for me
Assuming it can run independently of sense.
Thanks
Anyone with a rooted sense?
Please, you will save me hours of messing around and swapping roms.
My nandroid doesn't backup for some reason at the moment keeps failing to mount system so its a bit of a mare.
Thanks again.

You are the greatest thanks
Didn't work
Is it Froyo only do you think? or does it need some other component?
I am running [PINK 22]. Gingerbread
it wont work with gingerbread cause there is no htc/sense framework for gingerbread atm and all htc apps are based on that framework

even with cyanomogenmod 7?? i'm really sad because that voice recorder is the best in my opinion and changing rom, i've lost it at all!
Since the official 2.2 froyo has released,im vry confused about whether to get back official froyo or not...can someone give me some suggestion and tell me why is that better..LOL..or can list out the PROs and Cons,it helps a lot..THANK YOU VERY MUCH...LOL..because i did really don't know the advantage of using a ROM..
The official release is the same as the leaked APAC release from 2 months ago. To answer your question: there's no point going back to the official firmware. Better yet: the latest CM7 release has supposedly a newer and better kernel than the kernel officially released yesterday
LOL...really thanks for u advice..actually i dunno wat is kernel..i tot it never chg..but i felt rooted phone are better cause they can overclock and use other special apps..but is there any benefit if switch back official 2.2?
Official Froyo can not record videos with aac audio codec, I realy don't know why!?
Very bad audio in recorded video...
Hey noobs.
Try this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=994061
how many Official 2.2 threads do we need?
As I said before, in Eclair 2.1 we had aac audio encoder by default now in Froyo 2.2 we have amr aoudio encoder by default. "Very nice" new feature, unless we need some digging in system to enable aac. I am very surprised for this new "feature" because we have aac in aosp versions of Froyo by community (thank God for that). Moto, is it posible you are so bad in software business?!

ADW has some problems, try to use LauncherPro, and use root uninstaller to remove ADW later installing LauncherPro.
There is no lag with me It's much more better than ADW, or you can give a try to ADW Ex, I heard it's less laggy

SuperCharge Your Phone! (Performance Tweaks) by zeppelinrox
CM7
Just decrease overclock frequency to 750mhz and that's it.
You can also disable some animations for performance gain.
Latest CM7 RC3 + zeppelinrox's guide makes an excellent 2.3.3 ROM. So why bother using a 2.2?
Indeed, very interesting guide.
Thanks for the link
I prefer 2.2, because it's official....
I faced with many error in 2.3

Which type of errors???
I've just flashed and it seems good (I haven't tested it accurately yet, it's true) but Froyo was so bad.
Can you give me some info please?
Thank you!

I've a question: in the zeppelinrox's post I can read this:
First, for Milestoners, here is the latest Froyo kernel (It's flashable - thanks again cherrybombaz)
Note: If you are running CM7 RC3, you already have this.
CM7 RC3 is based on Gingerbread, so I think that he is saying CM7 is just optimized with all that tips, tricks and tweaks! Isn't it??
CM7 has the arabic kernel.
It doesn't have the tweaks that I talk about in that thread.

Of all the roms I have tried, I think Darky's the only one with this ability.. head to Darkyrom.com and you can flash the latest GB based rom from there for SGS...
This facility is not yet available in any of ICS roms.. maybe present in some other GB roms too but like I said I haven't tried them..
its not important that rom is froyo or gingerbread, i want to have a rom with call recording ability.
i remember in froyo rom we can record calls, but i cant find them...

well with the earlier versions of GB rom by darky the call recording was surely present.. after 10.2 I shifted to CM7 and then ICS so not sure about the present roms.. but if you go through the discussion of particular version of darkyrom you'll come to know whether its present or not.. though most probably it should be present.

Im using darky 9.5 since it came out 1 year ago, mainly because of call recording, tried many gb and ics based but allways came back to darky, last rom i tried was Elite 9.1, very nice and fast but no call recording and not as reliable as a froyo based rom that is rock solid.
Im in the process of making a tutorial on how to install darky 9.5 rom based on js8 froyo, imo the best rom ever made for the galaxy s...main reasons are:
Pros:
-Has perfect crisp sound 2 way call recording
-The most reliable rom no fcs no errors and everything working perfectly
-ad-hoc working
-can do everything other roms do (GB or ics), plus its 1000% more stable in every way.
Cons:
-Quadrant score is lower then those roms made to have big quadrant numbers
-Opening some apps takes 0,5 to 1 sec more then most fast roms.
I can live with the cons, i can wait 1 sec more to open somme apps, and dont really care for a benchmark number that means nothing irl.
The tutorial will have a package with the base rom js8, kernel with root, darky 9.5 extreme edition rom, some tweaks and explanation on what to enable in recovery settings to maximize speed etc.

I've been on stock GB for a while. I was really hoping for some call recording fuctions in a ICS release but I guess it's a sammy low level driver that allows this support and that was only release in a Fryo rom years ago. I may have to give this rom a shot.
Anyone care to comment their experiences with this rom compared to their fav ICS release?

-I used Elite 9 ICS rom for a couple of days, its very fast and no bugs for what i used...
-but has no call recording very important feature for me,
-the radio not working must use spirit FM,
-camera has no pause recording so i cannot pause and continue recording in the same file,
-some apps fc,
-with darky 9.5 i can do everything any ICS port does..and i can do even more...with the firm believe that its 100% stable and its not going to fail me.
-ICS doesnt have ad-hoc
The only thing i can say ICS its better to use is:
-I have the latest rom ( good for my ego )
-Its faster opening some apps...i can live with a slower but overall better rom.
