dear Forum
I am living in Switzerland, and i got from a US friend his "old" TP2 because he bought the new i-phone...
now i am here in Europe and can't use it because it only accepts T-Mobile SIM cards (which we don't have in Switzerland).
Moreover i am travelling quite often because of my profession and i'm usually buying local SIM's....
Does anyone know if there is a ROM which unlocks this device?
would be great if this also contains TomTom or CoPilot navigation as i own those licences arelady frommy previous device.
As I know there are two versions of TP2:
- the "normal" HTC
- the T-mobile version which got brownish color and lacks a front cam....
my question is specifically about the brownish T-mobile version.
thanks for your help

There is no ROM that will unlock your phone for you. You have to either call T-Mobile and get them to unlock the phone for you or ask your friend to call T-Mobile for the unlock code, OR you can pay to have it unlocked by providing the IMEI number to someone who knows how to unlock it. Also, ROMs generally do not come cooked with TomTom or CoPilot, so you'd have to install those separately. I'm sure if you looked around you could find the cab files to install them.
that's interesting... my old diamond came with simlock from a local carrier... after flashing it with an open ROM, the simlock was gone...
that's why I am asking if there is simlock-free ROM for this specific type of TP2...
for the "normal" one i saw plenty ROM's but because of the differences i am sceptic if they would work.
thx for ur hints
You don't need a ROM, you need to SIM-unlock your device. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555339

hi all
I am a bit confused ( dont take much these days) is the HTC TYTN II the Kaiser, as they look very similar and when i google it thats what i find..
also as anyone got one recently from t-mobile as i am due a upgrade and how much did they pay for it.
Cheers for the help
Neel
Yes the Kaiser was renamed the TyTN II. Not sure about your second question.
HTC Kaiser / HTC TyTn II / T-Mobile Vario III = all the same thing
(except the Vario looks cheap and nasty)
T-Mobile is a worldwide company and people from across that world read this forum. Which T-mobile are you talking about?
I'm referring to the UK variant.

Sorry, that wasn't directed at you, but at the OP.
i am in the UK
As far as I know Kaiser is/was the name given by HTC during the development of the device. It is now sold as the HTC Tytn II. TMobile UK are selling/will be selling this as the MDAvario III. Vodaphone UK will also carry this device as V165 or something similar. All of these devices are manufactured by HTC. Most providers will have their own customised ROM installed. Currently we are unable to CID unlock these devices and so we are stuck with default provider ROMs. Eventually I am sure Pof or some other genius on here will work out how to CID unlock them and then the fun begins with our own customised ROMs.
Yep they are all Kaisers = generic name for all of them
TyTn II is the one sold under the HTC name and then as said above you have all the other variants as well.

Sorry for my bad english..
If i buy a touch diamond in united states can i use it in italy?!
Thanks a lot!!!
Only if you purchase an unlocked Diamond. Otherwise, you have to go through a big ordeal with your carrier (if you buy it from a carrier) to get the phone unlocked.
Is it even for sale in the US yet? I was under the impression that it was still being modified to work there.
If you do get one that is designed for the US, you won't be able to use it in most of Europe as it will be designed for different bands.
My wife wanted this phone so I am looking on the internet and run into newegg has one for sale $530.00 shiping included. Is this a HTC that you use Sim card? My wife has T-Mobile.....

Check it please to make sure I buy the right one...
Any suggestion for additional software to use..
Yes, the HTC Touch Diamond you are looking at uses SIM card, and T- Mobile is what I used, too. The model shown seems like an EU model (pics too small to tell), and the difference between EU and US model is summarized at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432532. If you live in the US and you plan to use 3G data connection in the US, then you need to consider the US model, with AT&T however (NOT T-Mobile).
I strongly suggest you call and make sure the ROM has been upgraded to the newest (1.93) already. If not, you want to make sure it's HTC Touch Diamond P-3700 (UK origion) so that you can upgrade to the newest ROM by yourself if chosen to do later.
Be carefol, since both the US and the EU diamonds are incompatible with the T-Mobile US network. There is a long discusson about this in the forum (search it).
Hey All,
I'm very interested in getting an HTC HD7 but because I live in South Africa it's going to be a bit of a mission.
At the moment, the T-Mobile version from Amazon.com is the cheapest and due to the fact that I have some family in the States, I will be able to get it over here easily.
Now, I would like to know if the T-Mobile HD7's will be locked (I assume they will be) and if so, if it will be possible to unlock them? I would assume it will be possible but wouldn't want to buy the device only to find out that it doesn't work .
Second of all, is the T-Mobile hardware any different to the UK version? Does T-Mobile use some special frequencies for 3G that would make it incompatable with the South Africa Cellular Providers?
Thanks for any and all assistance,
Jonno
at&t does not have an HD7. In The USA, only T-Mobile has the HD7.
For specs on the device, you should take a look at the official page:
http://www.htc.com/www/product/hd7/specification.html
Haha, whoops - thanks for that, updated the post.
It appears that the HD7 is Quad Band and so should work for all countries (unless T-Mobile gets some other hardware version, which seems unlikely).
hey. Jonno. I pm'd u.Give me a call if you get a chance.Thanx
Nizaamh
Does this mean that I can use a UK hd7 on t-mobile 3g network? What about ATT 3g?

Hi guys, my first post so would like to say hello firstly and glad I found a dedicated forum on WP7 and the HD7!
Anyway, I've just bought my very first WP7 and HTC handset which was from an eBay shop based in the UK.
The phone came with a EU plug so it's obviously not a UK phone but that's ok. What I am worried about though is that settings such as the radio and keyboard don't have the UK listed as an option. The radio setting only has 'World, North America and Japan' and the keyboard only has 'English US'. I did have to change the region to UK as it was defaulted to AU.
Any ideas if I can get UK listed and if it would even make a difference? Not really worried about the keyboard to be honest, but I have found the radio to be very poor - I can only pick up one station which is BBC Radio 1, and even that is quite temperamental.
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.
