Hello can some one please post APN settings for BSNL postpaid in India? I am not able to find it online. I called them and they say they will send the settings but I am not receiving it for some reason. I think they are getting my model number wrong.

Follow this structure. Worked in my Note when I used BSNL.
I use Asylum V8 ICS.
Now,
1.Go to Settings.
2.Click on 'More' in 'Wireless & Networks' (You can find in your settings)
3.Click on Mobile Networks
4.Click on Network Mode : Choose GSM/ WCDMA Auto
4.Click on Access Point Names
5.In APNs Screen which opens. Go for Options, New APN.
6.Fill In:
Name: bsnlnet
APN: bsnlnet
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MNC: 73
MCC: 404
Homepage (if you have any such option): m.google.com
Now, leave the rest blank.
Also unclick on: Use only 2G (Saves Battery)
Now reboot. And that's it. Jenga! Your Net should be set!
Now I don't know further since I am on Idea Cellular. I had used the BSNL Card for only a couple of days for stand by
Ok, give it a try !
Good Luck!
I tried everything and got fed up and just bought an airtel sim with a booster pack. I am just here for a 10 day visit and needed tethering and airtel seems to be the only one with a 4gb 3g data plan. Thanks anyways guys!
Hi, I have a problem with APN settings in my RAZR i. There is no APN list and every APN profile which I'm trying to save disappears. I assume problem causing old sim from VIRGIN Mobile Poland cause it has something wrong with MNC and MCC and Jelly Bean can't set APN if it can't read MCC and MNC from SIM. It should has MCC 206 and MNC 06 but phone can't read it. Strange thing is that when I used SIM from different operator but the same MNC and MCC list of APN's shown. The same thing was with Market Enabler, when I set 26006 APN's shows on my Virgin Mobile SIM but even after setting right APN phone couldn't connect to internet.
OFC it's SIM card problem cause T-Mobile and Orange working well so I asked Virgin to change sim card for some working with Jelly Bean but they say they don't have any other sim cards and not directly but something like F*** You, it's Your problem, not ours. I can change operator but Virgin has best offer for me at this moment but in the end I think it's the only way.
Maybe someone have some clue to trick system to read MCC and MNC right?? I used this card on Atrix stock 2.3.4 and CM10.1 and it' working fine and problem is only on RAZR i, tried 2 different roms and nothing - RTEN and RTEU.
Nvm anymore, I'm going to change my carrier in few days.
Maybe, are you in flightmode? Because in flightmode all apn's are disabled and invisible
No, I'm not. APN's not showing up cause android shows only APN's which match MCC+MNC from SIM card and when there is something wrong with my MCC+MNC it wont show any APN.

I went ahead and enabled data and tethering for my Ting sim.
Ting's FAQs suggest that tethering cannot be used with LTE data, but I had no problem. Ting with LTE connection showed the same speed on the R1 HD and the wifi connected device, at the time, about 20 Mbps up and down.

This worked. The hotspot connected to devices without problems. Data connection was HSPA+.

The phone does not need to be rooted.
Is Data roaming enabled?
Is the modified APN selected?
Are both "default" and "dun" checked under APN type in that APN?
Until "dun" was checked, my sim behaved the same way, connected but no internet.

I am on free basic plan from freedom pop. I have downgraded all the other services. I only have 200mb data plan on my sim. could that be the reason for hotspot not working? are you on free basic plan?
no idea why it is still not working?

All my fp sims are downgraded to free 200mb plan with no services. I have two types of sim, data only and voice/data. The voice/data sim gets a number assigned before shipment.
The one in my R1 HD is voice/data, but I am not using fp voip phone and have run the fp messaging app only to check activation; it's not running now.
I'll swap to a data only sim this evening and see if the hotspot continues to work.

Swapped in a data only sim, hotspot still works fine.
I assume the icon on top bar has an R to indicate it's registered and same icon in the dropdown menu has the R and is labelled FreedomPop.
Also, I assume the sim is providing data locally. Speedtest should show a ping of about 300ms.
Running out of ideas...Settings/More/Cellular networks shows Preferred network type 3G/4G. When I click on Network operators, it searches for about a minute and then shows FreedomPop 3G twice...I'm guessing one of those is ATT and the other is T-Mobile. Haven't noticed any difference if I select one or the other.

Using freedompop sim on sim2 with data choosing sim2. APN/Data Roam enabled. Hotspot can be connected, but no internet going through. I might think this is a bug of the stock ROM.
Any other WIFI tether app recommended?

The fix described here, adding dun to the APN type, has worked for me with several fp sims, both the data only and talk/data variety:
https://forums.freedompop.com/discussion/17067/blu-r1-hd-hotspot-connection-issue-fixed
Apparently it worked for "Blu R1 HD User" as well. Expect we all have the stock rom.
My guess is that the problem is differences with the account setup at freedompop. They may be trying to disable it so they can charge for the service but have not made changes to all accounts.

The "dun" trick was tested NOT to work on my R1 HD. Same, connected, but no internet. I am wondering is this a BLU issue or FP issue. In other words,
1) has anyone successfully tethered using other carrier's sim cards in BLU while not with FP? Then that's a FP issue..
2) has anyone successfully tethered FP's sim card on other GSM unlocked phones, while not in BLU? Then that's a BLU issue..
I am not a GSM player (I play with CDMA phones a lot), can someone do above experiments and show your results? Thanks.

No problem tethering from a BLU Studio 5.0 LTE (Android 4.3) with fp sim.
HTC M8 (Android 6.0) has the "connects but no internet" problem with fp sim.
My phone is set up as shown here:

I can tether from either data source. HSPA+ speeds from fp sim, LTE speeds from Ting (T-mobile).

My M8 is not rooted.
This is probably relevant:
Enable Free Wi-Fi Tethering On Your HTC One (M8)
http://www.cultofandroid.com/61639/enable-free-wi-fi-tethering-htc-one-m8/
It would be great if someone with a rooted R1HD could find something like this:
<app name=”Tethering_provision”>
<item type=”integer”
name=”TetheringGuard_rule”>1</item>
I believe that Android 4 phones may not give carriers the ability to identify(and block)
tethered traffic. An obsolete GSM phone with a fp sim might make a cheap hotspot.

That's not it. Hotspot still works without security.
But I think I've figured it out.
In brief, I believe that adding dun to the APN type works only if you are connected to T-Mobile.
Freedompop sims can use either T-Mobile or ATT HSPA+ data. If you connect to T-Mobile, tethering works, if ATT it doesn't. I am in a location that gets both, but T-Mobile is stronger and I think it normally gets selected. When I click on Network operators, it searches for about a minute and then displays this:
I think the two "FreedomPop 4G" items are ATT and T-mobile, When I click on either one, it says "Registering on Freedompop 4G". These don't seem to appear in the same order each time, but when I choose at random, about half the time I get no internet when I reconnect the wifi device. When I tell it to "choose automatically" I always have internet, I think because it chooses the stronger T-mobile signal.
Googling: dun apn tether, shows that this was a solution to a T-mobile broken tethering problem.
There must be a way to force the device to connect to a particular network.
Does anyone know how?
I did some searching for APN settings for ATT back when HSPA+ was all the rage.
Came up with this for APN Type: default, supl, dun, hipri
I still can't tell whether I'm connected to ATT or T-Mobile (there must be a way, but I don't know it).
But I've been trying manual selection as before, which often failed to tether internet. Now it always seems to work.
Would someone who has been unable to tether with a Freedompop sim please try this APN setting.
Hi folks...
I set up my new Zenfone 8 to use as a WiFi hotspot. It doesn't work at all (I tried connecting with my computer, and with another phone, and I get no internet connectivity).
However, if I use my work's Samsung S20 or my old Sony XPeria XZ2 Compact, it works fine.
My work's on Verizon, my personal devices on AT&T.
The only things I can think are either:
1. There's a problem with the Zenfone 8 for use as a hotspot
2. AT&T is blocking that phone for use as a hotspot (tho' I don't know why they'd allow it on my XZ2 Compact - both are unlocked phones I didn't buy from AT&T)
Any ideas what might be going on here?
- Tim

Ok, just tried it. Also tried various other changes to WiFi Tethering settings.
Unfortunately, nothing ended up working.
I'll do my experiment using my old phone, and then, at worst, pay AT&T extra for the priviledge. :-(

Turn "Allowed devices only" off, if it's on - I needed net on my other phone because of a LAN network outage, and I just couldn't properly connect when this option was on.

Hi, Try following actions:
1. On all of your devices forget your hotspot network first
2. Setup hotspot without password first
3. Try to connect and test the connection
4. Once connection success, disconnect then change the security to WPA 2
5. Forget hotspot network again
6. Reconnect with WPA2 password
On my case somehow all of my devices need to forgot hotspot and re-setup hotspot. I don't know why but before forget and re-setup all my devices could connect but unable to browse internet
I use hotspot two days ago , i don't have time when i use it to find how connect with security so i disable security and it work fine
@hadi_rena @mick711 Unfortunately, none of these worked; I tried connecting to the Zenfone 8 from multiple devices, and though they connected to the hotspot, there was no internet connectivity. I'm presuming AT&T is blocking it and want me to give them more money to allow it.
Hey, Tim and perhaps others having this issue. I wanted to share my experience with being able to connect to the wifi hotspot on my Zenfone 8 but not having internet connectivity. In my case, my carrier is Consumer Cellular on the AT&T network.
Upon receiving my new Zenfone, I lost the wifi hotspot capability. I have heard that Consumer Cellular, and other carriers, require you to request that the wifi hotspot feature be enabled. For me, this wasn't the issue, as the feature worked fine when I switched my sim card back to my prior phone, a Sony Xperia XZ1. With the sim card in the Sony, I dug into the APN settings and discovered a few differences when compared to the default Consumer Cellular APN settings on the Zenfone. I first attempted to add a new APN to try out different settings on the Zenfone, but was puzzled why after creating a new APN, editing its settings, and tapping save, the APN was not saved to the APN list. I'm guessing that this is a Consumer Cellular block. Then, I decided to edit an existing APN, I believe it was called Tracfone. The settings which seem to enable the wifi hotspot function are the MVNO type and MVNO values. Another strange quirk is that when you edit these values and save the APN, all the other saved APNs disappear from the list. If you then change the MVNO values back and save the custom APN, the other APNs reappear, perhaps another Consumer Cellular effect? At first, I was concerned that changing these settings might interfere with or disable some network-related functionality, requiring a quick APN edit every time I wanted to use the wifi hotspot option, but I have not noticed any issues. I realize that these MVNO settings are related to carriers like Consumer Cellular that utilize the networks of other major carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc., so this fix might not work for everyone. I thought I would share it anyway. I have attached screenshots of my APN settings for reference.

I just tried the two settings that worked in my older Xperia XZ1. I've attached photos of the settings from that phone. Both configurations allow for wifi hotspot on my Zenfone 8, but I have only used the GID for any length of time. It seems that when you choose the MVNO type, it autofills the MVNO value, at least it does for me. I don't fully understand what these settings mean other than that they relate somehow to resellers. I just know that changing them allowed the wifi hotspot to work again for me. Someone else here would probably have a better explanation for it.
Edit: I found the following link that explains some of the MVNO settings.

So I have an AT&T branded, carrier unlocked, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 model number SM-N960U and I'm currently using Straight Talk as my carrier with a SIM card that uses AT&T towers. Voice Over LTE is disabled on it for AT&T towers and I've been trying off and on every time I get frustrated with my backup phone's cracked screen to find some way to make it function again but to no avail.
Anyone know of any magical fixes for this? I've done quite a bit of searching for answers and I've tried a bunch of things but not come up with any real fix for the problem...
Things I've tried include multiple different APN settings, turning on VoLTE Provisioning manually by dialing ##4636## (VoLTE Provisioned is grayed out with AT&T sim card but not other carriers cause of course it is), I've called Straight Talk and had them do whatever it is they do on their end multiple times with no success and unfortunately the only carrier we get signal with in my area is AT&T or I would be happy to just switch to a Verizon SIM. I also tried looking for a way to root the darn thing (and tried using the rom I found in another thread here to change it from N960U to N960U1 but mine must be on a different update than that rom) cause I'm sure with access I could bypass all AT&T's crap but my security update is too recent to allow for root access so I'm worried it may just be stuck...
Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated! I'm so frustrated with this phone I'm half tempted to chuck it out my window lol.
Hi, @cloudyrei
I am currently on Old Folks Cellular/Consumer Cellular with an AT&T sim.
Had to change sim cards after the recent 3G shutdown because IMS no longer registered.
Are you using a launcher that can access activities on your N9?
If not, please download Activity Launcher from the F-droid store. I use it on N9 and N20U.
In the Activities menu, please search for: "Call Settings" - this will be found under Call Settings (com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui.hiddennetworksetting.MainActivity) and create a shortcut
"Mobile Network" - this will be found under "Settings" in Activities (com.android.settings.network.telephony.MobileNetworkActivity) and create a shortcut
"Phone info" is also listed under "Settings" in Activities (com.android.settings.RadioInfo) and create a shortcut
Please open "Phone info" and select "LTE only" at the "Set preferred Network Type."
This menu also shows Data network type and Voice network type, which should display "LTE."
On my N9, the "Call Settings" will not have anything selected underneath "Network" or "Band Selection."
Hopefully, you can access your mobile network settings for Straight Talk via "Mobile Network."
Then check settings for your SIM card status in "About phone."
Oh! Thank you for that app! That helps a lot so I don't have to type that string into the dialer every time!
Unfortunately this is what I'm looking at with LTE only selected and I also went through the whole list and tried every one of them just in case and they all look the same only with some variation in signal strength but that's about it...
You are welcome, @cloudyrei, and so sorry that I couldn't help you.
Please set your phone back to its original mobile network settings.
Please remove your screenshot because it has your phone number and other info on it.
Is your phone on Android 10, One UI 2.5?
I looked around for Straight Talk's (AT&T) APN settings, and found this:

Before tinkering with your apn settings, you may want to contact Straight Talk to confirm you have 4G LTE.
I had to contact the service provider for a new sim card because it would not register the IMS.
Here's the settings on my N9:
Oh heck you're right! I thought about that maybe having my info on it awhile after I put it up but forgot to go back and check! I haven't gotten any weird calls yet at least so woo!
Yes my phone is on Android 10, One UI 2.5
I reverted the mobile network settings and tried the other APN and it does make it so the mobile data works, however, I still can't make phone calls or text.
I'm sure I have LTE as all of the things function normally with the sim in the backup phone with the cracked screen I have, It's a Galaxy S10.
Here's my settings in the Note 9 as of now. I cropped out the part with my number and such this time lol.
Are you turning off the power in your N9 when you place the SIM card in it, @cloudyrei?
Thank goodness you did not receive any strange phone calls. lol
Does Straight Talk send you a "configuration message" via text for your APN, SMS, and browser settings when you place your SIM in your N9?
I do not download the configuration message for APN, SMS or browser settings.
I noticed that downloading each one changes the default SIM.
If you downloaded the configuration message settings, you could try setting it back to the default settings for your SIM by going into "Settings," "Connections," "Mobile Networks," then "Access Point Names."
Then reset to default by clicking on the 3-button menu.
Please power off your N9 if you reset the SIM.
Remove SIM, wait a few, Insert SIM, then power on.

If this doesn't work, I hope someone can help you.
I had to request a new SIM from CC after the 3G shutdown.
The IMS would not register on the N9 or N20U.
The SIM card I had to replace was originally used in an unlocked Galaxy Note8, which was on Consumer Cellular network with a T-mobile SIM.
The new SIM is an AT&T SIM.
I remember reading that some N9 owners had problems after the 3G shutdown and had to get a new SIM.
Then, I tinkered around with the "Phone settings," (from Activity Manager's shortcut) and set it to LTE only.

Please open "Phone info" and select "LTE only" at the "Set preferred Network Type."
This menu also shows Data network type and Voice network type, which should display "LTE."
Click to collapse
Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I bought my sister a Note 9 specifically for the deprecation of 3/2G.
Verizon finished sunsetting their towers recently and now my sister's N960U cannot even connect to the towers that would send config messages. And "VoLTE provisioned" is not enabled.
This sim works in other VoLTE phones and gets provisioned. Its only the N9 that won't provision.
One thing I noticed was the IMEI number under Phone Info is one number off from the IMEI that shows under "About Phone" is this normal?
I would figure that the IMEI should be complete in "Phone info" and maybe thus us the reason why Straight Talk can't provision VoLTE?
@rjones97
My apologies for replying so late to your questions about your sister's Note9.
Were you able to receive service with Straight Talk for her phone?
Unfortunately, we haven't. Straight Talk support is assuring me that everything is configured correctly on their side. The last thing they did was submit a report to Verizon about the account. They said to expect a reply the next day, but nothing came through.
Hi, @rjones97
Is your sister's N9 unlocked?
If your sister had service w/ Verizon/Straight Talk before Verizon ended service for 2/3G, you may want to ask if they will send you another SIM card for her Note9.
I had to get another SIM (AT&T) from Consumer Cellular because the IMS service would not register.
Or you could try these settings on this webpage to see if her phone will work.
