Hi, I have a problem with APN settings in my RAZR i. There is no APN list and every APN profile which I'm trying to save disappears. I assume problem causing old sim from VIRGIN Mobile Poland cause it has something wrong with MNC and MCC and Jelly Bean can't set APN if it can't read MCC and MNC from SIM. It should has MCC 206 and MNC 06 but phone can't read it. Strange thing is that when I used SIM from different operator but the same MNC and MCC list of APN's shown. The same thing was with Market Enabler, when I set 26006 APN's shows on my Virgin Mobile SIM but even after setting right APN phone couldn't connect to internet.
OFC it's SIM card problem cause T-Mobile and Orange working well so I asked Virgin to change sim card for some working with Jelly Bean but they say they don't have any other sim cards and not directly but something like F*** You, it's Your problem, not ours. I can change operator but Virgin has best offer for me at this moment but in the end I think it's the only way.
Maybe someone have some clue to trick system to read MCC and MNC right?? I used this card on Atrix stock 2.3.4 and CM10.1 and it' working fine and problem is only on RAZR i, tried 2 different roms and nothing - RTEN and RTEU.
Nvm anymore, I'm going to change my carrier in few days.
Maybe, are you in flightmode? Because in flightmode all apn's are disabled and invisible
No, I'm not. APN's not showing up cause android shows only APN's which match MCC+MNC from SIM card and when there is something wrong with my MCC+MNC it wont show any APN.

Ok so my Lebanese network has 2 different APN.
The first one is Edge with proxy and port, the second one is GPRS without proxy and port.
Unfortunetly my subscription is with Edge but it seems that the proxy used is not supported by Nexus One so I can't connect to internet using it.
So is there an internal file in the Android system that we can modify to add supported proxies???
You can't edit it in settings > wireless and networks > mobile networks > access point names?
Yes but it looks like the Lebanese proxy is not supported, the network technicians told me to use mnc 03 but the whole APN disappear if I do that, perhaps there is a way to ''force'' the N1 to accept mnc 03.
This could do something like that? : http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/wiki/APNlist
Android will only list the APNs which have the MCC/MNC code of the home carrier it is connecting to (presumably this is set on the SIM card). If you enter an MCC/MNC which does not match the one you're connected to, the APN will appear to vanish.
Have you tried entering the settings without modifying the MCC/MNC that the phone automatically inserts?
If I use mnc 01 it wil not vanish but it wont connect either!
I don't suppose your provider has multiple varieties of SIM card? Perhaps if they can transfer you to a SIM card which reports MNC 03 to the phone, then your APN settings will work properly.
I remember reading some people had trouble with the Fido APN on Android phones, and the solution was to get a new SIM because the older generation wasn't quite compatible.
So the possibility to have unsupported proxies is not the problem?
I mean Lebanon is not on the list of recognised countries by Google N1's website, the other data plan doesn't have a proxy in the settings that's why it can work.
Switching to the other data plan will cost me +15$ per month

I am not sure the proxy is the problem. I can enter a proxy into my Fido APN and it works. The "vanishing APN" problem is because they are asking you to enter an MCC/MNC which does not match your SIM card.
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone have the same problem as me in that the APN settings are getting lost when say you change MNC settings? That is APN is not getting saved (well it doesn't appear on apn list anyway)
Seems like no one is having this problem and I'm the only one?
Had posted in a few threads but no one ever respond so don't know if it's just me or is it an issue with the firmware.
Cheers
Yes, I did notice it once, when I entered an incorrect MNC accidentally. But for correct MCC/MNC it doesn't happen. I see that you are with Virgin Mobile AU, Me too. Correct Mobile Country Code (MCC) for Australia is 505 and you should put Mobile Network Code (MNC) as 02 for Optus.
Nah I got it working, just that my import from previous apn settings doesn't work, manually entering it in works. Although for teh MNC if you delete the 02 and add it back in as 02 it'll fail as well. I think it's a bug...
I'm just surprise it seems not alot of people is noticing this.....
Hi all
few days i ago i swaped my sim card with my brothers (same phone/carrier) to check if it was the sim card causing errors in his phone
When i put it back into mine i lost service and got reboots every few minutes
tried various things, reverting to stock, reseating the sim card and flashing a new sbf.
finally, I reverted to my nandroid and it says it got service but calls/texts/3g dont work
if anyone could help that would be much appeciated
P.S. My brothers phone has no service but doesnt have random reboots like mine. Im thinking new sim cards
You can try flashing the baseband for your country again through AOR, maybe when you switched SIM cards, you got some but not all of the APN's needed for 3G, SMS, etc.
reflashed basebands(no luck), checked sim cards mine has my number. heres my apn
Name - Telus Sp
APN - sp.telus.com
proxy/port/username/password/server/Authentication type - not set
MMSC - H(wont let me post urls)ttp://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mmsc
MMS - Proxy - 74.49.0.18
MMS - Port 80
MCC - 302
MNC - 220
APN type - default, dun ,mms
Could someone pls help!!
I just checked my APN settings and my APN type was set to "not set".
Other than that, it seems like your SIM card might be broken.
Ya i think it is my sim its just weird that it worked before, then once i but it back in my phone after switching with my brother's it broke
Its definitely the sim card took it out and i've gone an hour without reboots. Gonna be such a hassle to get a new one
Hi folks,
I'm running 2.24.161.1 (4.2.2) with vodafone branding.
My One cannot get APN settings from the provider, it never could, so I manually configured the APN for my default network, which works.
I was in Spain recently and I wanted to roam a little, but as my mobile cannot get the settings from the provider I tried to manually configure the APN again, this is where I ran into my problem.
I can create a new APN, I can change all settings as I need them and I can save it and activate it. However this only works as long as the MCC is set to 262. When I tried to configure MOVISTAR APN with MCC 214 and tried to save it the APN was just gone.
I don't get any errors or whatsoever. I can modify the APN and save all changes as often as I want, but trying to save an APN with MCC not set to 262 results in the APNs disappearance, its simply gone from the list. This also happens when I modify an exisiting APNs MCC value and save it - the APN will be gone from the list and I have to recreate it.
Is it likely to be a problem with the branded software version? I like the One as it is otherwise, I see no reason to unlock, root, flash other stock and thereby loose all my settings and reconfigure the phone again, but if that would solve the problem with foreign APNs I guess that is what I will do.
Anyone know what is causing this problem and how to solve it?
Regards

So, I bought the Z3C D5803 online (amazon) a while ago in the US. Unlocked, international version.
I don't get any LTE signal, although I have all bands necessary for T-Mobile LTE, except band 12. But this is no reason for it not to work. I only get 3G/H/H+. The APN settings are all OK, according to the T-Mobile tech support.
Since it's a corporate SIM, I can't handle things directly. The service (and SIM) HAS a LTE data plan, since it was being used in a different phone, provided by T-Mobile, and I had 4G. An IT employee called them and they told him that my phone is compatible, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will wotk with T-Mobile (wtf does that even mean?). Like, my phone has all the bands necessary, but they could be closed (is that even possible?).
What I think is happening is that the SIM was registered with the previous phone's IMEI, and since my new phone has a different IMEI, T-Mobile is blocking LTE connection. Or my xperia IMEI is not registered as a LTE phone.
This is definitely not a hardware problem.
One thing worth mentioning. Before using this phone in the US, I traveled to Brazil and used my SIM card from there. LTE worked flawlessly, athough it uses different bands. The APN settings updated automatically.
So, what gives?
I have same model number and I'm on t-mobile.lte works for me what is your apn settings

First, my preferred network type is: LTE(preferred), WCDMA/GSM
Then, my APN settings are (downloaded automatically after I inserted the SIM):
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: not set
MMS port: not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Autentication type: none
APN type: default,supl,a-gps,mms
APN protocol: IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: checked (grayed out)
Bearer: unspecified
MVNO type: none
MVNO value: not set (grayed out)
I don't have the phone in front of me, so I can't confirm the APN settings, but my wife's D5803 gets LTE on T-Mobile USA.
Same settings as me I'm not to sure the issue

Well, that is unfortunate. I don't belive that is possible for your D5803 to work while mine doesn't, which was what the employee from T-Mobile tried to say. I believe it's a carrier issue with the SIM card/ IMEI.

The SIM card is tied to the IMEI? Are you sure? I move my T-Mobile SIM from phone to phone (Z3C, Nexus 5, HTC One M8) with no problem getting LTE.

I don't think so. I think that the problem is with the SIM card or something to do about it being registered to the phone previously being used.
So it happens that I have another T-Mobile SIM card (a pre paid one, which is my personal number)and I tried it on my phone. To my amusement and frustration, I got LTE signal. So, what could T-Mobile be doing with my work line that I'm not getting LTE?
I believe it's a carrier issue with the SIM card
I had the same problem when I first got my Nexus 5 a while back. It turns out all I needed was a new SIM card, so that is most likely the culprit. It sucks that you'll have to jump through hoops to get a new SIM though.
Try setting your APN protocol: to IPv4

No dice.
I think it's a problem with the SIM card. Now, what I don't know is:
If the problem is with the SIM card only
If the problem is with the SIM card and IMEI (4G registered to work only with the previous T-Mobile phone)

T-mobile US doesn't register the IMEI to the SIM, so I doubt it's that. Could be a defective SIM I suppose, or maybe LTE isn't enabled on the phone for some reason. First thing I'd do is go to a store and have them switch out the SIM for a new one.

LTE is enabled, and when I switch the current SIM for the other pre-paid I have from T-Mobile, I get LTE signal. So, maybe that indicates without a doubt that the problem is the SIM card?
It's really likely then that it's the SIM since the other one works. Go to a T-mobile store and they'll probably give you another one for free since that one isn't working. LTE isn't something T-mobile charges more for, so you should get it if the network is available.
