... does it still work? Has anyone tried?
I am currently on FRF85B with no OTA notification for FRF91.
Since I have quite a few problems, I am tempted to upgrade to FRF91.
Before I do, I would like to know whether it is possible with FRF85B and/or FRF91 to root without unlocking (as it was with FRF83 I believe).

Anyway I can root my N1 (froyo) to use setCPU and still get OTA updates?
yes, use the rooted froyo and you get OTA quite sure
Like many others I have the latest unlocked, unrooted Vodafone Nexus EPF30, as there is no Superboot for this build I seem to be unable to Root it so that I can install custom ROMS or FROYO.
Is it possible to downgrade / flash the ERE27 over this ROM safely so that I can then Flash the FRF50, 72 then 83 builds.
Or do I do the safe and sensible thing and just wait for the eventual OTA.
But where is the fun in that right, we got Android for a reason!
Hi,
I'm running rooted frf83 and just checked my phone and it seems to have downloaded an update and is prompted me to restart and install.
Will this lose my root and is the uk recieving frf91 via ota?
I got the same notification while using FRF85, if you're running a custom recovery image (Amon_RA) then it will simply fail once you've rebooted. This will remove the annoying continuous prompts to install it, and no you won't lose root. I'm also from the UK so it's safe to assume that the UK is getting FRF91
I'm running the rooted FRF50 build from:
android.modaco.com/content/google-nexus-one-nexusone-modaco-com/309286/24-may-frf50-froyo-pre-rooted-update-zip-no-radio-option-online-kitchen/ (Sorry, can't post links yet)
and I'm trying to get to FRF91. What's the right way to get there if OTA and manual fail. Is there a rooted version?
hi all.
my situation:
i got an european nexus one bought through vodafone.
the first step was when i received froyo ota: FRF91 build with v5.08 radio.
then i decided to leave vodafone and install stock android: now i got FRG83D build with v4.06 (downgraded!) radio.
now, since i realized that the newest radio is better than the old one, my question is:
does we already know that gingerbread ota gonna bring also a radio upgrade?
1) yes, waiting for it is recommended.
2) no, the only way is root it and manually update the radio to v5.12.
thanks.
I suspect it will.
Obviously no proof of that, but meh. Wait and see I guess, if it does, you're golden. If not, root (before applying the update, just to be safe, as I presume you're against unlocking the bootloader), flash radio, then update.
any other opinions?
