Rooted nexus one frf83 recieved ota update in uk - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm running rooted frf83 and just checked my phone and it seems to have downloaded an update and is prompted me to restart and install.
Will this lose my root and is the uk recieving frf91 via ota?

I got the same notification while using FRF85, if you're running a custom recovery image (Amon_RA) then it will simply fail once you've rebooted. This will remove the annoying continuous prompts to install it, and no you won't lose root. I'm also from the UK so it's safe to assume that the UK is getting FRF91

rooted with OTA?

Can i root my froyo 2.2 keep the stock rom and receive OTAs? I basically want to have root without any modded rom's and be able to get OTA updates.
as long as you have the stock recovery you're ok for OTA
OTA updates will remove root, so you'll have to re-root.
You need stock recovery to apply OTA's and custom recovery to root.
Is your bootloader unlocked?

I searched forum for that solution, but without results.
It would be nice to have tutorial for this.

No my bootloader is locked
So then you'll be able to use an OTA but you'll lose root. With a locked bootloader that would be bad. Best to not use OTAs and instead rely on pre-rooted updates posted here. Of course you may need a custom recovery for that.

In regards to stock recovery, where can i get a copy of it. I wanted to return to stock recovery to get the OTA so i don't have to perform manual updates. I currently have Amon's recovery.

The "security fixes" in FRF91 include patching the exploit used to gain root with the bootloader locked.
So, if you revert to stock recovery and then install the FRF91 OTA - you will not be able to regain root unless you go back to a previous passimg, update to FRF85B and then install a repacked, pre-rooted FRF91 through custom recovery.
Basically, you can't have root on a fully stock FRF91 OTA
So to get root we now need to void our warranty? That's annoying.
No
From FRF91 you need to PASSIMG back to an earlier build, then update to 85B. The root with locked bootloader method works from there.
Then, as stated above, you can use a re-packed update to FRF91 to keep root. You just can't use the OTA to FRF91 and keep root.

[Q] Telus Update w/ previously rooted phone

If I were to root again would any errors occur?
no, just reflash the vulnerable bootloader, apply update.zip to get root, and update the superuser app from the market place

[Q] AT&T Kitkat Update "Install interrupted"

Hey,
So I was going to update my Phone to 4.4 KitKat.. This is a AT&T Phone. I've tried to update the phone twice through the check for updates section on the phone and both time it failed with this error message.
The phone was previously rooted and then the rooting was broken by an AT&T update so although I still get the Custom message when the phone boots up it's not rooted currently.. Do I have to roll this phone back to a unrooted version of the Firmware before I can do the update? If so can someone point me in a direction for instructions on doing that?
Thanks
Yes, from what I understand you have to go back to stock, or flash a leak.

[Q] Orange UK OTA update available, safe to apply over root?

I have Orange UK branded razr i phone, finally the ota update to kitkat is available. I have root though,is the ota likely to fail? My concern is that if it does, I can't flash back, since from what I've read here Orange have done something that prevents unlocking of the bootloader (apparently the OEM commands fail).
Edit: I recently did a factory reset and no longer have SuperSU installed, yet apps still seem to have root access. Not sure if that helps or hinders.

Will 6.0.1 remove Root?

It's been a long time and im just not sure. I tried to do the auto update for 6.0.1 but it brought me to recovery so i just rebooted.
Thanks!
You can't do an ota unless you are fully stock. You can't be rooted and get the ota
