Video Camera Reboots Phone - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well since FRF50 (I think)..when I try to use the video camera it just hard locks and reboots the phone.
Currently using FRF91 and it still does it...
Any ideas? How can I put the shipping ROM back on?

Sounds like you need the correct radio; this one should work just fine:

Video Problem

Ok so iv had the phone for about the month, and been trying out all sorts of rom's. After all this time i never tried to take video (pictures work fine).
I turn on the cam, and when i press to take video it focuses, starts to film, them stops after one sec.??????
I changed the recording limit to 10 seconds or w/e else there was. (it was on no limit) now the camera begins to film, but the picture completely freezes and the time on the top still counts.

Have you tried a different Radio?
Yep, tried 1.27.12.17 today...
horrible radio, no sound, camera froze completely, not to mention battery life drained like nothing.
Ill keep searching today, but my current radio is perfect.
Is there a camera fix or something that could help fix it?
1.27.12.17 is not compatible with ur rom. its a wm6.0 radio. try posting in ur rom's thread instead, you might get more help there
Try the 1.58.21.23 radio, if that doesn't work then I would say you have a issue with your camera software and would reflash the ROM.
wont work, ill try another ROM right now.I have same ROM your using.
Do you know which of the 2 radios i just tried has better battery power?
1.58.21.23
tried 3 diffirent roms with radios, same thing.
Go to Start, Settings, System, and go to Device Information, click on Hardware and if it says Qualcomm(R) 7201 go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387057 and read through some of it. Try flashing one of the two mentioned ROM's and see if it works for you then.
**Just to clarify you did HARD RESET after flashing right?**

Problems with Kaiser

My Kaiser has been acting up since today morning.
The buttons/keyboard wont work and the voice recording program will start automatically and create files for every 4-8 seconds back to back.
I'm running Dutty's Dual touch ROM.
I reinstalled it and it worked perfectly fine for few hours until when i started txt messaging again....
any suggestions

Are you performing a hard reset after the rom installation?
Also what applications have you installed?
Next time post this in the thread where the rom is, try to stick to forum rules
Also what do you mean your keyboard is broken? Is it simply not functioning at all or are you typing a sentence and " it cmes out lke tis"
oops thanks, I'll post it in that thread. Basically I've been using it for good 5 months and no other applications have been installed.
Keyboard is not broken...the send/end/email/windows start buttons wont work...only the touch screen works.
and yes i hard reset it after the installation
seems like the problem is not with custom rom/firmware and its with the phone in general.
I'm now running stock firmware and the butons still dont work and it acts weird as soon as i turn on (example - goes to phone mode and dials EDFC, and then opens voice recording and starts recording small clips for every 4-6 seconds until i bring it complete stop)

Sounds like one of your buttons is stuck. Maybe try dusting the button area with canister air duster? Hope you don't have to do defective exchange, but that might be in the cards.

If i read you correctly, reinstalling the OS fixed it temporarily right? Maybe you got a corrupted file download and should redownload it again? It seems odd to me that the buttons would work short term after a reinstall.
Also , you can try other roms aside from Dutty's ( while his certainly is nice ) there are many alternatives. Pick one that has the radio included just to make sure you dont have some sort of firmware corruption. Also update Hard-SPL to the newest here.
Just a few things you could try

Yea I tried that too, but now it just wouldn't work...I formatted the memory car but i couldn't format the device, i called HTC and they asked me to send it in and they will take a look at it and said will fix it. I have to return everything back to stock and see how it goes.
Thanks guys

Freezing problem.

I just got a replacement G1 and I did the one touch root and every rom i loaded kept having freezing problems, even stable 1.6 roms which i ran on my old G1. I even tried unrooting then re rooting via one touch and it just keeps freezing up randomly. Does anyone have any idea why, and a way to fix this?
When exactly does it freeze, after setup or boot?
If one of the above it's just loading and background services are running while sd is being setup too.
Mostly when i am trying to run an app or something like that. If i am switching from screen to screen it is fine. But when i go to like use a message or something. It sometimes freezes, other times it doesnt.
Update: When my phone is plugged in to a power source it has no problems at all. But once i take it off it is a matter of minuets before it freezes. Mainly when I go to the message app and then hit end. I am running the SuperEclair_XxKOLOHExX_v2.3 rom.
Be sure that you are running the latest radio and engineering SPL.
radio:2.22.19.26I
and i am running the danger SPL(1.33.2005) is that the same as the Eng. one?

Yes, Death SPL is fine....you could update your radio to the newest one and not worry about bricking your phone. Though I don't think its going to fix your freezing when off charger problems....it sounds like you have a very messed up phone...I would have called Tmobile as soon as I found out it was doing that and sent it back to get another replacement.
But when i run the original g1 rom(non rooted) it works fine

Back Speaker Not Working

I have a G1 running stock 1.6, and this just happened randomly. One day I can hear everything out of the back speaker such as notifications and music, and the next, nothing... I need to know if I need to replace the speaker, or if re-flashing my device would hopefully fix this. It still vibrates for the notifications and I get the LED flashes, I just don't hear anything. And all the volumes are all the way up. Also, if I do factory reset from the settings, would it go back to stock 1.6, or would it go to 1.1?
If you're running stock, chances are your speaker just went out. I don't think they're replaceable without replacing the whole motherboard. I actually tried to Google this for a friend and all my efforts yielded no fruit other than motherboard swapping. It's probably easier to just buy a new G1 or upgrade with T-Mobile or service provider. You can also check to see if you have warranty with T-Mobile or your service provider.
Edit: No, a factory reset will not downgrade Android. It will erase all apps and set all settings back to factory default.
Also, Android version tree is as such:
1.5 - Cupcacke
1.6 - Donut
2.1 - Eclair
2.2 - Froyo
3.0 - Gingerbread (unreleased)
Well, the thing is, I haven't been with T-Mobile in over a year cuz I owe them $400, but I still use it for everything else through my wifi. I've had it since Feb. '08. And I know what the versions are, but when the G1 first came out, it had 1.1 and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a "code name" like the other releases. I mentioned it cuz when I've rooted my device, I had to go to 1.1 temporarily. Also, I took the back off my G1 (the one you have to screw off) and the speaker is right there, so I think it is replaceable without replacing motherboard. And I found out about the factory reset, I went and did it, but I forgot that I need to connect with my Google account so I have to wait for my brother to get here so I can use his SIM card.

[Q] Screen won't turn on, phone still on - any ideas ?

The phone works fine from boot up but as soon as the screen times out (doesn't mattter how long) it won't come back on again for about 2 hours.
It was running stock GB, unlocked but not rooted & has been working fine on that ROM for months (I got it in Jan 10, so it is now 18 months old).
Yesterday I downgraded to a stock Froyo & went through the installation / set up process, let the screen time out & it again won't turn on.
All of the buttons seem to work OK, power on works fine to turn it on from cold, the volume buttons work fine & the trackball is working.
I have tried pulling the battery, SIM & MicroSD, none of this seems to work.
Apart from sending it somewhere (don't really know where) is there anything I can try that has worked for anyone else ?
Well I've herd of this before but can't remember what fixed it (or if it got fixed) so lets start with factory reset then if that doesn't work try passimg because before you send it to htc for a repair there going to ask you to wipe anyway.
