[Q] Screen won't turn on, phone still on - any ideas ? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The phone works fine from boot up but as soon as the screen times out (doesn't mattter how long) it won't come back on again for about 2 hours.
It was running stock GB, unlocked but not rooted & has been working fine on that ROM for months (I got it in Jan 10, so it is now 18 months old).
Yesterday I downgraded to a stock Froyo & went through the installation / set up process, let the screen time out & it again won't turn on.
All of the buttons seem to work OK, power on works fine to turn it on from cold, the volume buttons work fine & the trackball is working.
I have tried pulling the battery, SIM & MicroSD, none of this seems to work.
Apart from sending it somewhere (don't really know where) is there anything I can try that has worked for anyone else ?

Well I've herd of this before but can't remember what fixed it (or if it got fixed) so lets start with factory reset then if that doesn't work try passimg because before you send it to htc for a repair there going to ask you to wipe anyway.

Strange Tilt problem

I'm sorry to have to ask, but I'm at a loss at this point, I've fixed this problem 3 times, and it keeps coming back.
AT&T tilt, unlocked, Solace 3.1 ROM
HardSPL 2.97
The phone works perfectly fine, except when I have to restart it, then it gets locked in the Bootscreen....and becomes very difficult to get it out. I try a soft reset, hard reset, nothing seems to work.
When this originally happened, I reloaded Solace 3.1 only to have it continue to be locked in the boot mode. Finally I I noticed the camera button and the power button appear to get locked into the on position, so i would manually create space between the button, and the actual activating button within the phone. It has worked 3/200 times I have had this problem. Overall I solved it by never restarting or resetting the phone, but eventually even with a ram cleaning program it becomes a problem.
If I'm thinking of the wrong solution let me know, it now appears to be stuck again in the on position for the power button....I basically ripped off the outer camera button, and now have to manually press the small one within the phone to activate it manually. I still can't get it off the bootloader, and its quite a frustrating problem.
Again, everything software wise works like a charm, I would have to think it isn't software related. Any ideas? I'm at a loss at this point, and using my phone from 2 years ago as a result.
Have U tried using another ROM besides the Solace ?

Problem with HTC G1 !!!HELP!!!

I have had my G1 for about 6 months. I flashed a custom ROM few months ago, everything has worked fine. Few days ago something weird started happening. The screen will NOT light up when the phone is closed, doesn't matter what buttons I press or what I do, the screen will stay black. The only time the screen turns on is when I open the phone. When the screen is on and the phone is open and I close the phone, the screen will go dark and shut off...
I have tried hard reset that didnt help. Next think i would try is to format the phone and load up new OS.
Before I do that I would like to know if this happened to anyone else. Also I would like to know if this is hardware related or OS related.
Please help me!
Its still in warranty right? flash the stock rom and send it back, tell them you did a hard reset to try and fix it but it didn't work (explains away why your data isn't on the phone)
Sounds like a hardware issue. As Newbie said, reflash the stock ROM, if that doesn't fix it take it back to Tmo (assuming you're on a contract).

[Q] HD7 Random Locking up / Frezing but still kinda responsive

i have had my HD7 since 4/15/2011
It has worked absolutely flawlessly since then. Smooth, fast.. Just perfect.
a couple of weeks ago i flashed to my first custom rom (insintric rom) and about two days later I flashed to Next Gen rom. The phone worked pretty great for about two weeks after that then all of a sudden the phone started randomly freezing up. it would remain responsive on what it was doing. ( a contacts info i could scroll left and right ) but I would be unable to leave that screen. the display would stay on , the power button would be unresponsive and the touch buttons at the bottom would vibrate but not take me anywhere. again I could still interact with the window I had open.
this happened mostly when trying to go to a contacts page and clicking the phone number to make a call.
then the phone started locking up when receiving calls (doesn’t do it every time maybe 3 - 4 out of 10 )
if i used the power button to turn off the phone about 5 - 6 times out of 10 the screen says goodbye but never changes after that.
I went back to the original T-Mobile stock rom (very first one) and upgraded all the way thru and though it seems SLIGHTLY better still happens quite often keep in mind this phone worked flawlessly for almost a year without a single problem
here’s what I’ve tried
Master reset (about/reset phone)
Master Reset(hold keys during boot)
goldcard reflash to original tmous rom
after reflash to original too all the updates
reflash to other custom roms
formatted sd card and reinserted
Replaced SD Card
nothing seems to help
sometimes the phone will reboot but usually whatever screen the phone "locks up on" can usually still be interacted with.. Random buttons will not work sometimes I can’t get to the wifi setting. Sometimes htc hub won’t work. Sometimes it won’t go to email.. You can see it "push" on the screen but it won’t go to them. but I can go other places.
Anyone have any ideas or have had a similar problem?
i am currently using the stock tomus rom updated thru zune to mango

[Q] Soft Buttons Lit Up Since ICS

Hi all, hoping someone could help or at least set my mind at ease. I put the Axiom Cyanogen (?) ICS port on my Bionic yesterday and since it's been installed my soft buttons (menu, home, back, search) have been lit. Is this normal? Is there somewhere in the settings I can turn this off? I have looked thru all of them but can't seem to find the option. Thanks in advance.
it is just a random thing that happends when i flashed the axion it worked fine as soon as i flashed the 1 percent battery mod over i got the same thing so i wiped everything flashed new it worked fine so i suggested to reinstall i don't believe there are any setting that either enable/disable this just certain things that cause this that no one know a fix for it yet hope this helps..

[Q] Need advice on possible problem with my One

I will try to be as complete as I can here, let me know if I forgot to mention anything.
I have a two month old Sprint HTC One running software version 1.31.651.2. I installed TWRP 2.6.3.0 and rooted the phone about 1 month ago. About a week ago I used revone 0.2.1 to get S_OFF and to remove the “tampered” banner. Otherwise the phone is pretty much stock. I was hoping to install a custom ROM eventually, but I have not got around to it yet.
Now here are the problems I have been having. On Saturday I plugged an OTG cable into the phone with a flash drive attached. The drive just had some random files on it, nothing phone specific. After seeing that it mounted the drive okay I unplugged it (admittedly without “properly ejecting” it.) Now I don't believe that I used the phone for the next 20 minutes or so. The next time I grabbed the phone, it had apparently turned off. The power button would not turn it on, and if I held the button down the soft buttons would flash, but not turn on. After panicking for a while I eventually got the phone back on by holding the power button down for a good 2 minutes (soft buttons flashing the whole time). After that everything seemed fine for the next 24 hours.
On Sunday I was participating in a half marathon, I had Winamp and Run Keeper running on the phone. Just as I was about to cross the finish line I stopped Run Keeper and quickly tried to switch to the camera, but the home button didn't seem responsive. I know several toasts popped up during this time, I didn't read them, I just assumed that it was Run Keeper complaining that I did not have a Internet connection (which I didn't). Then the phone just reset. It came back on by itself and has been fine since.
Now I am not sure what to do. I don't dare flash a custom ROM when there could be hardware issue. Should I attempt to return everything to stock in case I need to have the phone serviced? Do I just let it go “as is” and see what happens? I don't suppose this is a known bug?
I am willing to listen to any suggestions.

I think if it were me, being as you are already S-OFF, I would find a 1.29 RUU then update to 1.31 then to 4.3. Don't install custom recovery or root or anything and see if it still gives you problems. If you are still having issues after that it's a hardware problem. If it's hardware, then go take it in to have them look at it.

I have similar issues as you do and I've attempted flashing all various firmware for sprint htc one (thinking it was the cause), but no success. I've tried all custom roms (both international sprint supported and sprint only) and still same results. I'm had long experience in flash so I'm not new to the scene. I have not yet done the RUU 1.29.651.10 yet but will eventually, once I have the time to do this and test if hardware is the real issue. If someone test before I do I hope he post to let us know. FYI, I'm S-OFF, Hboot 1.44, Elegencia Rom 4.3 sense 5.5., and latest firmware and radio from sprint.
Does the soft buttons flashing when holding the power button mean anything? Is this a known behavior in any context?

Yes when holding power button soft buttons flashing, but not sure what your leading into...
By the way, ,I've flashed Elegencia nightly revision 42 (4.3 with sense 5.0) and so far has not power down or rebooted. Something leads me to believe that this is not a hardware issue, but software. I'm just glad I don't have to give up my phone with hboot 1.44 and S-Off just yet...
