Hey guys,
I'm wondering who can help me, I have been testing Onkologs superlite ROM with SPB 3.5 and have a few things that I would like to alter.
1) With SPB installed the taskmanager drop down in the top right disappears, I've tried installing another taskmanager "Touchit taskmanager" and it didn't fix it. This bothers me much since I love to keep track of free RAM and programs and SPB taskmanager isn't as informative.
2) Bigger menus, I use my phone for music and Tomtom in my car whilst driving and these menus are a little too small to be safe whilst driving. (Miri size would be nice)
3) Icons in the start menu, they are also quite small and harder to navigate than rows of 3 which I much prefer.
I have contacted onkolog but was informed that they will not be developing winmo and no longer own a blackstone.
If anyone could adjust this ROM for these needs I will be willing to cough up $15 in cash (or $5 per issue), I love it that much for speed and free RAM but these niggles put me off using it permanently.
Failing that could anyone tell me what I need to do to make the adjustments and fix the taskmanager myself?
Failing that further suggest another ROM that is capable of all the things I mentioned and is just as clean.
Please don't suggest Miri as I already use an xtra light ROM that didn't even come with volume controls or HTC album, I added them in myself.
It's a wonderful ROM but using about 15% more RAM than onkolog.
Thanks in advance

1) Download WkTask - it's a much more functional alternative to a built-in one + works great with any kind of software + implementer Alt+Tab function like on PC.
2) Download Advanced Config 1.3 - with it you can change the amount of icons in a row in Start Menu (from 3 to 5) + you can increase the system bar and font size.
3) For information about your free RAM there is an app called BattClock.
Thanking you kindly

These seem like great solutions, thank you very much but will I still be able to run along side the Blue Lightening taskbar or will any of these over ride it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557816
Also will the Advanced config increase menus size, like the ones in messaging and things like that?

No problem! WkTask won't have issues with any theme out there, cuz it's more of a text-based program without too much graphics.
Don't know about messaging, but it will increase pop-up menu size (like when tap-n-holding in File Explorer you get that thingy with options and with AC you'll be able to alter it's size e.c.)
Yesssss!

This sounds perfect, thank you so much.
After testing I just can't enjoy Batt clock or WKTask, I've tried every setting possible but it's just too fiddly and busy, so much extra stuff just to find out how much RAM I'm using and to switch programs. I ended up stripping them both down so much that I wasn't even using them.
The advanced config solution was great but more than anything I just want to be able to keep the standard or cloned version of the taskmanager with onkolog and SPB.
Definitely making progress towards the perfect ROM (in my eyes) atleast

FAQ
=====================
Just FYI.. Here are some FAQ's..from the original thread. Just saving time in searching stuff, I have attached a few cabs as well :
Where else can I get Ultimate Launcher from?
http://www.ultimatelaunch.de/
Where do I get the touch-commander from?
www.touch-commander.com
-------------------------------------------------
Instructions from MaxMotus :
Part 1 - Touch Commander
Install Touch Commander and edit the FtouchFlo config file. The options for left and right scroll are blank. I set "Right 2 Left" as Action Screen and "Left 2 Right" as Comm Manager.
"Down 2 Up" opens Touch Commander Standard and "Up 2 Down" minimizes the program currently active.
Obviously configure Touch Commander Layout and icons to suit yourself. My icons that i used in Touch Commander are png format stored on storage card. I got some of mine from Alienware skin. Basically converted the ".ico" files to png
Part 2 - Ultimate Launch
Install Ultimate Commander and take time to edit play with settings. You can spec tab size by pixels (i used 40) and placement. Then you can spec total pixel size that the Ultimate Launcher plugin uses on desktop (includes tabs). I set @ 200 which lines up perfectly with the wallpaper i use. So when you change tab it moves everything between the tabs at top and the glass bar at the bottom. ie Tabs and glass bar stay static.
I used as plugins, HTC home which fits perfectly between the Tabs and Glass Bar at bottom. The Next Tab is SPB Pocket Plus with short cuts and system items. On the Third Tab I used SPB Weather and on the final tab i had short cuts using Ultimate Launch.
Tab placement can be top or bottom of the Today plugin so you could put them at the bottom of page like iphone. If you want to hide the tabs totally and just use the Cube / Slide change of tabs then set Tab size to zero.
Ultimate launch icons are in standard .ico format 32x32 or 48x48 for the animated size! So you can easily make or edit icons!
You can have as many tabs as you like I just chose 4 as i was using cube style change. And you can use all the normal today style plugins via settings. Each tab can have its own gestures regarding launching apps. I set mine same for less confusion, basically stroke down on tab panel for PocketCM.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
how did you manage to get the htc home tab plugin in between ultimate launch space?
The HTC Home needs 160 pixels so you need to set the pixel size in "Ultimate Launch" to use 160px + tab size. In my case my tabs are 40px so my overall px size for settings on Ultimate Launch are 200px (Config, Display Tab, "Fixed Plugin Height")
To add HTC Home plugin, (Config, Display Tab, "Tabs") when you have created a "Tab" you can click on "change" and add from the list of today plugins!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where do I get the theme which is in the Video?
Attached - Theme.zip
You can use your own customized avatar.
Attached - Blueflameza9.zip
For those who want to use the gif for S2U2
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How Do I get the HTC Home and HTC Weather as Tabs?
Go to UL config and Add a New Plugin, Select the Application
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I managed to use the HTC home like you did, but unlike the top portion of your ultimatelaunch tab, mine has arrows to the sides. I am assuming that it's indicating the that I have more tabs to the left/right. Is there any way to get rid of it? How did you make it so that yours doesn't show any arrow? Is it because you only have 4 tabs?
Go into Config and the headers options.
Make sure "Visable Headers" is equal to or great than number of tabs you have setup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which battery monitor do you use? The one in the taskbar with percentage as well...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321733
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone knows how to add Bluetooth and Wifi .ink into the launcher??
Attached SmartUtilities+Shortcuts.CAB

Ya,
I tried it out about a week ago and was going to add it to open touch v3.0, but did not have time..
I might include it in v4.0, but not sure yet. Also, I think I better ask the developer of the apps first as well...heeh
wow that definitely looks sweet, thanks for the heads up man
i wonder how smoothly it'll run on the wing though.....

Tat sounds nice! Would love to see this with Open Touch. One thing you may wanna consider before including is that if this app is not activated, it will have "not activated" on the application once in a while. It doesn harm but I am sure you will find a way to eliminate that

From what I saw you can use any plugin. When you go into the config click new and select Today-Plugin. You should be able to add it there.

WiFI and Bluetooth:
for bleutooth toggle = CicleBT.cab
for wifi there is also a wifitoggel.exe somewhere. i´ll post when i´m home...
BUT please keep in mind: IT is NOT freeware.... so including into a rom would make people have to buy a licens
I stay with O2plus (modified) i can set tabs for shortcuts - that´s enough for me...
thanks for posting.
I tested it: but as far as i cannot find more than 6 shirtcuts that i really need on screen.... and in loss of todayplugins that i do not use..... i relly don´t need it. BUT it is customizable very fine...
AND indeed much better than cube!!!
I had it running under my Batterystatustheme.... 200pix high with todayagenda and shortcuts....

Heheh.. I know . With the amount of memory it takes..I kinda thot you will!..
not activated message is not there when you don't use Cube
I know the Cube is popular but if you uninstall the cube, you don't get the not activated messages. This app is pretty cool even without the Cube. I personally do not like the cube so I don't use it, but I tried it with and without the cube installed and noticed this. Just thought I'd pass it on.
Also, the Cube takes alot of memory, but without it, this app takes very little.

Hey guys. I've got Ultimate Launch and I want to be able to see what programs are running on the today screen. Maybe an icon row at the bottom. ANy ideas?

try spb ilauncher. do a search on it.
Wisebar Advanced will show you what programs are running in the top bar of the today screen. Check it out HERE.
Magic Button is on title bar but does not cover any standard info. Only 80 KB executable file. Makes close button really close applications. Can be found here :
http://www.trancreative.com/mb.aspx
doesnt regular taskmanager that comes with tilt show you what applications are running..and you can close them...why use another one?
wktask is a my favourite.
You can alter the size of the tabs, hide system applications and LOADS of other options. Oh and it's free. It is one of the most reliable and light applications of this type and is cooked into a lot of XDA dev ROMs. Get the latest version HERE
You have to try those to believe how good the Winterface application is. I saw the review on Tiltsite.com today, downloaded it and immediately loved it. It is extremely finger friendly, the interface is very intuitive and beautifully designed. It also uses minimum amount of system resource thus is very efficient.
http://iwindowsmobile.com/vito-mobile-shell.html
Their FunContacts is also a gem to have. Extremly finger friendly, smooth scrolling of the contact list like the iPhone. It absolutely replaces the old school "stylus-required" contact application included in WM6.1.
http://iwindowsmobile.com/contact-manager.html
I've also tried their Zoomboard application, I think it's a good concept, however there is room for improvement. It is still quite slow to type on the Zoomboard application. However the accuracy of the text is improved dramatically because of the zoomed in text let you see what you've pressed on the screen. But it still can't beat Kaiser/Tilt's excellent keyboard for typing.
http://iwindowsmobile.com/onscreen-keyboard.html
Enough said, I strongly encourage people to try it out. It will be a investment well spend. They also have a whole lot of other nicely designed applications on their webpage, check them out too.
http://iwindowsmobile.com/
seems like alot to spend on a couple of good apps that already exist freely...iContact, HTC album (for the photo thing) and even the (Samsung Glyde copy) button interface all exist free of charge. I'd have to see better to be convinced to put down $40 for 2 apps.
how do you install over an existing GUI... today screen , start menu, taskbar, etc???..
does it wipe them all out?
can you go back easily?

You slide your finger in an arc to enable the interface from your home screen or anywhere else. You can click okay button and easily go back to normal interface if you choose to do so.
When phone is unlocked in Winterface, you can "slide to unlock" the phone with a touch of a finger.
I installed this over Garmin's DK1 WM6.1 cooked rom, so far everything works smooth as silk. Garmin's DK1 includes HTC Home v2.0.1812282.1 that I enabled in my home screen. This app run dependent of HTC Home plugin so there is no problems that I found.
In my opinion this app totally replaces HTC Home just because it is much more intuitive (it displays # of new message you got or # of missed calls you have and stuff like that). Couple finger movement after you can reach almost any application on the phone.
I don't work for this company or anything... Just think it's a really cool app to try.
And after couple hours of useage, here is a little short list of pros and rooms for improvement:
Pro -
Extremly finger friendly, smooth flow, elegant design layout.
Low memory useage, fast start up anywhere in the OS.
Very intuitive interface, texts under icons are extremely useful, compare to some other apps who only incorporated icons.
Love to be able to mix and match the apps I need and put them in order I want.
Room for improvement -
Slide to unlock button will disappear if a phone call caused the phone to lock itself, the phone would also lock itself unwanted after a phone call is in progress. It is annoying because when you want to press the keys on the screen, you find the phone locked with slide to unlock.
Contrast of the default icons are rather low (The whites are a bit above mid gray color)
Would be nice to flip from first page to last and then from last to first in one direction.
Would be nice to have option to display non-clear type fonts, my eye don't see well under clear type fonts.
Too bad SMS-Chat and FunContact have problem displaying typed text in landscape orientation in windows mobile 6.1 device (no problem in 6.0 though), or they would work great alone side Winterface.

I think it does, the system wouldn't even let me enable clear type on landscape mode... Maybe that's why all those apps that use cleartype in landscape mode would not display typed text properly

I personally LOVE the Zoomboard because of it's accuracy when typing one-handed (usually while driving). Obviously, I also prefer the regular hard keyboard, but we all know that's not always an option.

The best task manager (IMHO) is without a doubt WKtask:

ex: if you are in navigation full mode, then you haven't a taskbar. so how do you want to switch with obe single click ?
i use searching for a small tool which switch to all tasks with a hardware button - so it had to be a single programm which switch - it is not necessary to show windows, blabla, ---- only switch ...
if i found a perfect tool or another one guy - let me know - thanks
cu camel
The Alt-Tab feature of SPB Pocket Plus will be right up your street...
...however you may find it is a dead end thanks to the Diamond's dire hardware button facilities... not only there not that many of them but tapping into them appears to be full of troubles!
Mathew
spb plus - alt-tab also not working corect - it switch sometimes in different directions to the task
it's like
Task A,B,C,D,E
1.) first press A
if you press then in the short time next the hardware button then it's switch to B, C, aso
but if you wait 2 sec. then it's switching from C -> B -> A -> E
it's a little bit crazy
PLS: i talk about the "switch to next task" -> because this is almost perfect (relly fast, but wrong/serious directions)
I have been using the kaiser since dec/2007 and not everything is working as expected.
Background - I have a second phone SE W880i and I am very satisfied with the user interface.
Do you think there will be ever an easy way to use the kaiser as phone such as a ordinary phone? I would expect the kaiser to be more than that...
Anyway, my questions are quite straightforward: (for now
1) How can I prevent the phone from waking up when I receive a text message? (because mostly something in my pocket touches the screen and calls my contacts)
2)How can I set up the function of the JOG (the wheel button on the side) (I would like to be able after holding the wheel a task manager to pop up and with the wheel to choose a running program and to activate it with a push of the wheel again)
3) Is there a dialer / dialer skin to enable really easy and accurate access of the number-pad with fingers?
If you know a program, solution or workaround, please let me know...
Edited: [First]Second Conclusion 14 September 2008
After reading the posts (see below), searching and testing I found a good solution for the Kaiser to fulfill its function as a phone using these components:
Dialer - Minimal dialer (fast, simple, easy to push the keys with fingers(thumb)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395086
Contats - iContact (either the original (now v0.8) or iContact BE (now v6.3.2b2) (very fast, finger friendly and has the functions you would expect)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395829
http://burt.vndv.com/
UI - PointUI 1.51a - it is very fast & smoothly, finger friendly and has most of the functions you would expect!
http://www.pointui.com/
http://forums.pointui.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=613 (customizing & tweaks - forum & links)
- on the same day I have posted the the above, I found a newly available UI
Touchflo2d/manilla - it is very fast & smoothly, finger friendly and much more rich on functions than PointUI. Also more rom&ram demanding! Its in beta but everything works ok (depends on your rom)! Now this is my choice!
original thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425851
other:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173
(works only with htc devices)
->and if you use manilla, then a S2U2 is a very handy application for locking the keyboard.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412418
All the applications are free (but you can, of course, donate .
Drawbacks:
Dialer
- only white schema, I prefer black because of the battery endrance
- not sure yet how to change the sound of keys to quiet ticks (the same sound you hear when you delete the whole number by holding the delete key)
Contacts - ??? not found any (yet
UI
PointUI
- it is not optimised for the kaiser, so you can't use for example the ok button to go back in menu.
- This is the most complex part and everyone expect different functions
- no real customization
Manilla - it is too early (still first beta) to judge
-I could not find any customizing tools...
-a bit too heavy (with all the applications)
If you know a solution for the Drawbacks or you have a different experience, please let me know.
I use ROMeOS 4.5.3
If you wanted to use the kaiser as an ordinary phone, why did you buy one? I can tell you don't even extend the functionality past texting and calling.
1) If you use the locking function, that wouldn't be an issue. (Slide 2 unlock is a great program for those who toss their expensive brick into their pocket).
2) AE button plus to launch the task manager of your choice. (You might want to set it to launch the task manager on hold so you can jog down to the item of choice and press it without launching task manager again).
3) There is a bunch of dialers in the development section of XDA-developers. A quick search will return probably the most popular. As for finger friendly, the default dialer is more than enough. But i do recommend you to check out other dialers.
Thanx for your reply.
I use the kaiser form many purposes - browsing web(which now with the last version of Opera is really nice to use), gps navigation, store notes, skype..
But I would expect that it should be at last as good as an ordinary phone to make calls.
I will try the AE buttons.
The keys: Firstly I thought the dialer is nice to use, but then I had an iPhone in my hand, and is more accurate when using the num-pad. But its only a sw issue...

Hi, the Minimal dialer is really very nice. Although it could have a bit more functions assigned to the hw keys, its the nicest touch keyboard I have seen on my phone
Thank you!
first conclusion
After some searching and testing I found a good solution for the Kaiser to fulfill its function as a phone using these components:
Dialer - Minimal dialer (fast, simple, easy to push the keys with fingers(thumb)
Contats - iContact (either the original (now v0.8) or iContact BE (now v6.3.2b2) (very fast, finger friendly and has the functions you would expect)
UI - PointUI 1.51a - it is very fast & smoothly, finger friendly and has most of the functions you would expect!
UI
- it is not optimised for the kaiser, so you can't use for example the ok button to go back in menu.
- This is the most complex part and everyone expect different functions
- no real customization
If you know a solution for the Drawbacks or you have a different experience, please let me know.
S2U took care of my pocket call issues. So even if it wakes the touch screen isnt gonna dial your contacts
