Big numeric keypad for viva - Touch Viva, MDA Basic General

Is there any good app for big letter numeric keypad for calling. I have wm 6.1 and it is very small size.

My personal favorite is PhonEx by Iconsoft:
http://www.iconsoft.com/?language=en&menu=62e094db10fc83b1
There's also a program called Phone 6 by Inesoft:
http://www.inesoft.com/eng/index.php?in=phone_dialer.html
They're both Shareware programs (not free), but they offer a trial version so you can try them before buying.

Kaiser Questions

Im very new to MS Mobile. Ive been using Symbian since the Sony Ericsson P800 and as recent as the M600i. I recently gladly switched over to MS Mobile and the learning curve is a little curvy.
Where are all the wonderful applications that I can install? How do I know if it works on the TyTN II? Obviously if the requirements specify WM 6.0 Pro, then its gonna work, but what about screen type? SVGA vs VGA?
- Will WM 6.0 (non-professional) or WM 5.0 s/w work on the Kaiser?
- What does the Sym button do? Meaning Fn + Sym on keyboard do?
- Is there no way to copy paste using the keyboard? I am able to highlight text using the shift and directional arrow keys, no way to copy paste? Like CTRL+C/V/X ?
- A better browser? IE doesnt allow tabs like firefox which is really inconvenient. I had Opera on my Symbian OS phones and it worked great!
- When I make an appointment or meeting in Calendar, I want an alarm to go off sometimes an hour before the appointment, sometimes 2 hours, some times 3. How do I set the alarm time within calendar?
The "wonderful applications" are all over the place. Try Handango first. Or look on here and modaco for free apps.
1) WM6 Pro and WM5 will work (Professional means for touchscreen pda). WM (classic etc) Smartphone editions wont work
2) Sym - opens the onscreen symbol keyboard so you can type weird aqnd wonderful characters
3) Never tried it
4) Download Opera for WM 8.65 then
5) Just set the reminder time when you create the new appointment.
Where are all the wonderful applications that I can install?
--> e.g. pocketgear.com, handago.com and others
How do I know if it works on the TyTN II?
--> tytn2 has wm6 os, so 99.9% of everything for wm5 and wm6 will work (also some apps for wm02, wm03)
Obviously if the requirements specify WM 6.0 Pro, then its gonna work, but what about screen type? SVGA vs VGA?
--> 99.9% apps/games are for qvga and tytn2 has qvga, so no problem
Will WM 6.0 (non-professional) or WM 5.0 s/w work on the Kaiser?
--> there is no wm5 for tytn2 now, not sure why it has to be when tytn2 is running the newest os now
What does the Sym button do? Meaning Fn + Sym on keyboard do?
--> input for special charactes (ěščř...)
Is there no way to copy paste using the keyboard? I am able to highlight text using the shift and directional arrow keys, no way to copy paste? Like CTRL+C/V/X ?
--> it is possible to use copy/paste, ctrl+c/v/x
A better browser? IE doesnt allow tabs like firefox which is really inconvenient. I had Opera on my Symbian OS phones and it worked great!
--> opera, and some others also for tytn2

There is no CTRL-Button on the Keyboard - This was the question ...
But here is the answer, searching for "CTRL" would have found:

ehm, there is no CTRL but CTL button which has the same function as CTRL (default keyboard - see screenshot). ctrl+cvx is possible

On the physical keyboard not the touch screen keyboard.
patr!k,unwired4,
Let me get this straight, I can download any software for the TyTNII as long as it is wm6 pro or wm5 pro. So it must be pro version of 5 or 6 to be compatible.
WM6 Pro and WM5 will work (Professional means for touchscreen pda). WM (classic etc) Smartphone editions wont work

So wm6 pro will work, ok great. Im confused about the latter part, will wm5 or wm pro work on TyTN II?
look, almost 99.9% of software will works- do not worry about it. developers do not make differences between wm6 pro or classic, it is just wm6. the same it is with wm5, wm02 and wm03
WM 6 Pro = Windows Mobile 6 device with a touch screen.
WM 6 Standard = a device without a touch screen (like the Moto Q).
In WM 5 parlance, it's "WM 5" and "WM 5 Smartphone edition."
So you'll want apps that are for WM5/6 that support touch screens when you boil it all down. Don't get ones that list compatabilitiy with the Q...
Hi to all Kaiser, Tilt and Tytn-II user.
I just replaced my Hermes with Tytn-II. My question is how can I separate the SMS/MMS account like my previous Hermes?
Any help, guides, instruction are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Is the Tilt's dialer/smart dialer the same as the one in the Kaiser?

Could someone please post a picture of the standard dialer in the Kaiser?
Here's a picture of mine:
Thank you.
This is the default WM6 dialer (not sure whether it has smartdialing enabled, but usually it does). You can try switching to the HTC dialer with KaiserTweak, but that might not work (if the dialer images are not on the phone). If it doesn't work - just revert back using KaiserTweak to the WM6 dialer . Personally I prefer this dialer with smartdialing because the contacts that were dialed before show up first when dialing a name...
Also - I think schap has a dialer too - something called reTouched or so. But I didn't try it...
Thank you
But I will need a dialer with local language support.
This is not the default WM6 dialer, This is the default WM5 dialer...
I was told the same in a local forum
The question is, which dialer can I install that will support other languages?
Another option would be to customize the skin of a dialer that I like and will fit the Tilt. In this case, can anyone point me to the exact steps required to do so?
Thank you.
Don't know about localizing. Regarding whether it's the WM5 or WM6 dialer, what's the difference? When I look at the screen it looks exactly the same as the dialer on my Kaiser (WM6) when I turn of the HTC dialer (using the reg-tweak or KaiserTweak).
Regards,
Nika.
Nika, could you please expand on that?

I use EZDIAL on my Tilt, and I had the default smart dialing turned on.
This resulted in the EZDIAL serch results being obscured by the smart dialing popup window (which basically emulates what EZDIAL does, only with a nicer presentation).
I then turned off smart dialing, and can now see the EZDIAL results on screen.
But the thing is, I wanted to use a nicer smart dialer than EZDIAL, and tried to install a localized one posted in a local forum by Nadavi (a distinguished member here), and it didn't work.
So I wanted to understand why this was happening, and was told that my Tilt couldn't have any other dialer than the default one (since I'm with the standard ROM, and I need a localized skin).

How can i change to HTC dilaer??? As on the second picture???

That's the question...
As I replayed before:
I suggest the following:
1. find a full install of the dialer(I don't know of any).
2. change your rom to an HTC rom(much better! ))
3. find an answer at XDA....
wisniak, I replayed your question on ppcfreak.
Quickest way to the Dialer
This may be a silly question, but without opening the keyboard, what is the quickest way to get the dialer to appear on the screen?

Try Pressing the Green Call button on your device, that should bring up the dialer.
To change to the default WM6 dialer, which is actually listed above as the 2nd HTC dialer. Here is the registry key that needs changed:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Security / Phone / Skin
Change the value of 'Enabled' from 1 to 0
Please note, that there is no video calling available using this dialer.
Just thought I would clarify a little bit on what these dialers actually are:
At&t WM6 Dialer:
HTC Touch style dialer:
Default Microsoft WM6 dialer:
Default Microsoft WM5 dialer:
I used Kaiser Tweak and the dialer definitely looks different now
I'll post an image later today.

Dude, you are absolutely wrong,
The first is the built in WM6 dialer, available on every WM6 phone edition (you can unhide it with a tweak manager) - all WM^ phone editions have it(never mind the colors)
The secound is the "smartdialing" HTC dialer - available only on HTC phone editions devices,(never mind the colors)
Here's what it looks now:
This is the dialer skin I have after using the Kaiser Tweak.
EZDIAL does not come up, even though it's properly installed.

Texting with one hand

Hi, do you have a problem when you need to type text message but only one hand is free? Standard on screen keyboard has to small letters, for me it is impossible to use hardware keyboard with one hand. It will be great to install keyboard which will mimic standard mobile phone keyboard one click on 1 will type a, two clicks b, and so on… and which will cover half of screen similar to keyboard which pop ups when you are calling someone.
It will be great if someone posts link where I can download that additional keyboard for wm6.1
Thanks

Have Fun, Its free.
Just install cab, restart phone and then select PCM Keyboard from drop up menu for keyboard.
Any Probs, Message Me.

there are a lot of keyboard you could use for your device. All you have to do is a small and simple search with google, altavista or if you prefer in this forum too.
btw, you can look for Cooteck Touchpal, PocketCm, Resco Keyboard, Spb Keyboard and of course the one extracted from Diamond (P1TATER or similar)
good luck and sorry for bad english.
fausto
Sorry to say it, but for one hand operation I don't think anything beats the standard cell phone hardware keypad.
there is this HTC keypad.cab..that looks like the conventional cellphone keypad hardware..im still looking for it too
Check out the Touchpal keyboard before you make your decision once you get used to it you can type faster with one hand then some people with two.

Just wanted to say thanks. I hated this type of keyboard with it no individual key layout when I tried a similar version before. BUt this one is great.Takes some getting used to but I going to give it a week and see how it goes.
Many thnks!
No problem once I got used to it there is no comparison I hardly even use the hardware keyboard because it is slower than Touchpal. Good Luck

what do you guys think about the Resco Keyboard Pro. I have been using that and seems ok.
All apologies for the unintentional hijack, but I installed PCM Keyboard and also Touch Diamond Keyboard, but now word completion no longer works. They work great, but I checked word completion settings and it is set, but no longer suggests words. Is this normal?

I found it to be the best. I downloaded some nicer iSkin layouts
Every time I try to use the PocketCM, nothing happens when I change to it in the menu where I can select which entry type I want.....what am I doing wrong?
I have used all other keyboards including Resco etc but I have found that SPB Keyboard is now the best. It has an option to have the keyboard in landscape mode and it becomes very big, enabling one to type with one hand very easily. Try it out. It also has many skins available for download from SPB's site.

i agree spb keyboard is great, but how do you make it as the default keyboard? it seems that after a soft reset the keyboard goes to the orig. one and have to select spb KB again.
I tried all keyboards and didn't like any. Then I found "EZ input". It works best for me.
try/google for SPB KEYBOARD v4.x
in my opinion, the best keyboard i've ever tested (and i've tested a lot of..)!
unfortunately it isn't freeware.. but the money worth(?) it

If you activate the Spb Keyboard, Tap on the sip arrow, go to Spb Keyboard Options>System tab then check box to make it default keyboard. Then it is always there even after soft resets. There are also several different skins to download for free from Spb's site. My favourites are skin4 and stainless. I use skin4 all the time now because keys are nice and big for my fingers.

i did that already and even in the input method but every after soft reset the keyboard is the one appearing and not the spb KB, i have to select it again.
FingerTouch v1.0
I found FingerTouch v1.0 and I think Is´s better then SPB Keybord, because FingerTouch have relly big buttons and with this keybord is relly possible to write with one hand during walking. If I were you I would try It because It´s excelent keybord. It has 4 or 5 types of keybords and you can download a lot of skins.

A good replacement for iContact?

The default contacts screen on the Fuze is "ok", but just not iContact. I did install iContact, but it displays VERY tiny contacts. Is there a good replacement out there? What I really liked was the pop out alpha pad as opposed to the alphabet down the side.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

I haven't had any issues with "tiny" contacts when using iContact.
Are you using the original, Avian, trubert, or Supbro?

Agreed. iContact is great aside from MINOR nitpicks
hey all~
two other free contact managers come to my mind....
1.pocket contact manager (they also have a touch screen keyboard)
2. yota contact manager
for either one of them make sure you get the vga version (as opposed to qvga or wvga)
i prefer yota as it seems to run smoother and with pcm, after u make a call or check a number it didn't usually fully close. it kept running inthe background and before i could reopen it i'd have to force it to close via the task manager (with a confirmation prompt)

Best keyboard when not using QWERTY?

Hi, i'd like to know which keyboard do you use when you dont use de qwerty one. Ive seen some CAB files but i really dont know "which one is better". I think its about taste, but that why i ask you all, to know which one do you all use so i can "think" about which one will i use
thank you very much!!!!
I use sometimes fingertouch and sometimes default WM one.....
i'd say "FingerKeyb 2.1" is the best one so far... It's free, it's good, it's even customizable (just a bonus, not necessary) x1 has wvga-resolution, download the right cab!
Ezinput is even better (made by HTC), but it messes up the hw-keyboard, makes it unusable. there are others like SPB etc, but they're not free and definitely not better than FingerKeyb.
one problem they all share is the small screen of the x1, unless you have really really tiny hands.
Well, I never use software keyboard in landscape. In portrait I use the default WinMo one haha. I have the SPB keyboard as well, but it is kinda ugly. From time to time the Bulgarian keyboard is pretty useful. The Resco keyboard is very nice too.
The XT9 keyboard is good for landscape and portrait. Um.. I have one called "fullscreen keyboard", but I don't remember where I got it from lol.

Not true, u can still install CE star, it has handwriting capabilities which can work for English characters. Does anyone know of the new EZ input keyboard which Agent_47 used to package in his manila 2.5 rom? It looks real good and was large enough, but pretty laggy. Does anyone have the cab? I want see if its laggy on a non manila 2.5 rom

do you mean the sip selector? (tiny triangle at bottom of screen- i think!!)
if so, in fingerkeyboard settings, in the 'options' tab you can choose to 'show bar' in portrait or landscape. this will then will allow you to use the sip selector, and also the soft keys
fingerkeyboard and softtouch maxkeys gets my vote
spb keyboard. its a really nice keyboard, easy to write with. also has options to add vibrations when u touch a key if u like that sort of thing.
